I bought new Ipad 4 yesterday.
Why i was charged Rs. 60 for setting up Ipad through I Tunes.
Is it one time or recurring??
This is surprising.... How can one charge when i have not downloaded anything from I Tune

Authorization Hold?
If you update your billing information, the iTunes Store will place an authorization hold on your payment card account, usually in the amount of 1 USD, to verify your account information. It will be credited back to your account later.

You have sync all iCal calendars chosen or selected calendars?
No problems syncing contacts with the Address Book or with anything else included with the iTunes sync process?

This seems to be most common with lower resolution pictures.  You can go into settings > general > accessibility and turn reduce motion motion off and then try to rescale.  Or user a higher resolution picture, which works better with the new OS.

  • Best strategies for setting up iPad for elderly person?

I hope to eventually get an iPad 3 for an elderly parent and I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about it.
Here is what I was thinking:
    - get iPad.
    - set up iPad using iTunes account that I create from a spare email address I have access to.
    - get some iTunes cards via my own account and load it into the new account.
    - install apps, fiddle with settings, set up iCloud, possibly load it with photos, etc.
    - send iPad to them.
    - change email address on the new account to reflect their actual email address.
    - Is it correct in that no credit card would need to be entered by them at any point?
    - I have tweaked iChat on their laptop to auto-answer incoming video chats.  It sounds like there is no such setting on Facetime, right?   Is it still pretty easy to accept Facetime calls on the iPad (I've only used it via OS X).   From reading some past threads it sounds like there is no way to make a shortcut so that a specific contact could be called in one click (i.e. icon on dock), is that still the case?  (a Siri on iPad would help with this)
    - I currently do not do much photo sharing via Apple devices.  What is the easiest/best way to have them be able to view a gallary of images that one or more people can add things to remotely?  Do I have to turn to third-party apps to do this?
    - Any other general recommendations on getting a iPad set up for someone (especially the elderly) who are physically far away (and thus who won't get hands-on training from the person setting it up, but from people who are iPad savvy)?
I envision them mainly using it for: video chat, solitaire, email reading (not heavy email composing), light web, photo taking/sharing, etc.
    Thanks,

    Hi Captino,
Please note I sent this earlier today to the thread you posted on yesterday.
If you haven't yet, in the box near the top right on your posts only, click on receive e-mail notifications. Then you won't have to search through to find any responses you might get from the threads you are participating in.
One of my big concerns is that Apple should advertise to seniors with or without many of the issues that often accompany aging. The ipad's target audience did not start out advertising to toddlers, but we know they're using them and they are included in the new iphone 5 for photos and itunes. So let's get the increasing elderly population involved.
First, you might want to contact Apple corp offices in Cupertino and see if someone will listen to your suggestions. (I have sent them the links below.) The more Apple is aware that there is a real  need, they will hopefully increase focus and develop more to make the ipad usable for our elderly with needs, which varies from person to person.
I'd also like to suggest you start your own thread, posting in the title something like "How can an elderly person with dimentia benefit from ipad?" Then, copy the info you wrote in your post above here.
Here are some links that might interest you. The information is out there that many elderly people with needs can be helped by and are benefitting using an ipad. There are also links to support user forums.

  • HT4060 how long does it take to charge the battery for a mini Ipad from 1% to 100% ?

how long does it take to charge a mini Ipad battery completely from 1% to 100%?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Why is Verizon charging me monthly for my cellular iPad access when I signed up for just one month? Who do I contact?

I signed up for Verizon's month to month plan for cellular access and just discovered they are automatically renewing my monthly charges without my permission. Who and how can I contact Verizon to stop this and refund one month of unused cellular access? Please advise.

Well then I stand corrected. I bought my iPad with a Verizon MIFI2200 WiFi hotspot directly from Verizon Wireless when they were running a promo last October. Verizon had just started selling the iPad and they came out with this deal and I took advantage of the offer. My plan is also a month to month access plan, but as far as I know, you still have to contact Verizon to stop the service. I know with my plan, unless I specifically cancel the plan, it carries over to the next month. The advantage to this plan is that there was no contract to sign and I can cancel at anytime without any early termination fee. However, I still have to cancel the service if I don't want it to continue.
The bottom line is that the plan will continue month to month - there is just no contract to hold you to a two year agreement. You may have misunderstood or maybe you got bad information from the Apple rep, but what Verizon is doing is not being done without your permission - AFAIK. That is how month to month plans work.
If you really feel that the Apple rep misrepresented this to you, then why don't you go back to him/the store - whatever and plead your case with him/her/the store?

  • Is this script still valid for setting up Drill through between HFM and FDM

Guys hoping some one can shed a light.
I am running hfm and fdm realese 11.1.1.3.000
I am having issues setting up the SSO authentication (all the other steps have been done, and HFM is aware that I have uploaded information that can drill back). I am using an SSO script that was part of an Oracle presentation, but don't know if that script is still relevant.
Here is a copy of the script (Visual Basic Script SSO Authentication) :
    Function AuthenticateSSO(token, applicationName)
' Place your single sign-on authentication script here
' To signify an authentication failure, you should
' raise an error by calling the following method:
' Err.Raise [error number over 1000], [source], [description]
' Applicationname = FDMApplication in URL
    Const strProcSig = "AuthenticateSSO"
    Dim strUsername
    Dim strDomain
    Dim objHFMSSO
Dim strClusterName ' HFM cluster name
Dim strAppName ' HFM application name
    Set objHFMSSO = CreateObject("upsIntBlockFM40C.clsHypeWindowFM")
If Not objHFMSSO Is Nothing Then
    strClustername = "<xxxxxxxx>"
    Select Case ApplicationName
    Case "<xxxxxxxx>"
    strAppName = "<xxxxxxxx>"
    End Select
    strUsername = objHFMSSO.Connection.GetUsernameFromToken(CStr(Token), strClustername, strAppName)
    If Trim(strUsername & "") = "" Then
' Blank user name means the token is invalid.
    Set objHFMSSO = Nothing
Err.Raise 2655, strProcSig, "The Single Sign-on token is invalid."
    Else
' Return the user name from the authenticated token.
    AuthenticateSSO = strUsername
    End If
    End If
    Set objHFMSSO = Nothing
    End Function
After I input all the information requested, I always get the error Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
    Requested URL: /HyperionFDM/AuthorizedPages/IntersectionSummaryByLocation.aspx
I did saw a note about this error that suggested that I needed to re-register and deploy again FDM. Did, but still have the same issue. So the only thing that I don't control is the script and that is why I am asking if this script is still active and usable?

I have done all of that but I still get an error when trying to drill back. I am using the Admin ID which exist on both FDM and HFM but I am always getting the
    Server Error in '/' Application.
    The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
    Requested URL: /HyperionFDM/AuthorizedPages/IntersectionSummaryByLocation.aspx
So the only thing that I hadn't tried at the time was the SSO script. Which was what I did.

    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.

    Hi to All,
I would like to write a setup manual for setting up iPad on free web hosting account. I am currently using host1free.com, but I guess it is the same thing for every web hosting (setting up the email). So my questions would be:

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Ask the company providing you internet juice to get online. If it is Comcast, it typically is smtp.comcast.net or mail.comcast.net. If it is Verizon, it is outgoing.verizon.net. If it is someone else it is some SMTP server that is assigned by the company that you pay your bills to get online with.

I cannot send an email from my iPad 2? No problem receiving, why does this happen? Have tried the suggestions for setting up email and after doing the sync mail through iTunes receiving worked great but still cannot send? Any help would be great!

The fact that you can receive means you have a valid e mail address, and have established the connection to the incoming server, so all of that works.  Since the send does not work, that means your outgoing server is rejecting whatever settings you used formthe outgoing set up.  Try them again.
Google your particular isp, and ipad and many times you will find the exact settings needed for your isp.  Or tell us here, and soneone else may be on the same isp.  Some mail services need you to change a port, or have a unique name for the outgoing server.
    Kep trying.

Choose the strongest security available on your router, preferably WPA2 using AES encryption and a long complex passphrase with at least 14 characters (the maximum is 63 characters).

  • Activated SIM card through vaya for my ipad3, iPad tells me I am not subscribed to a cellular network. Help!

Have just activated SIM card through vaya for my ipad3, iPad tells me I am not subscribed to a cellular network. Help! I have contacted vaya who tell me to contact apple, is there a setting that needs to be changed? My iPad shows that I have 3G service. The plan I have activated is a 4g data plan but it is meant to revert to 3G when 4G is not available. Any help would be much appreciated!

I have done that and it is definitely on.  My husband has the exact same phone and I upgraded his IOS at the same time, but this problem is not happening to his phone (we are also on the same plan, so our service should be the same).  Our settings appear to be identical and my phone is showing the 3G symbol at the top, so I can't understand why it won't access the network.
I've turned it on and off twice and have reset all settings with my iTunes account, but it still isn't working.
I'm not a complete idiot with this sort of stuff - I have tried all the obvious things.
