Charged Tax on Advanced Warfare Season Pass

On 12/14, I purchased the Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Season Pass for XBox One at Store 461.  I was charged tax on the $50.00 price and I feel that the product should not be taxed.  The season pass is effectively Microsoft Currency and the currency for the various video game systems is not taxed at the POS.  Rather, you pay tax when you purchase something from the particular store (Microsoft, PSN, or Nintendo eShop).
When I redeemed the content, I had to pay tax again and there is certainly something not right with that.  It would be one thing if the value of the card included the tax, but it does not.
I went to the store today to ask about getting the tax refunded and I was told no.  I was also told that I should contact "them" (meaning Microsoft) because Best Buy doesn't have control over whether it is taxed.  I disagree.  It is wholly within the power of the company to ensure that products that should not be taxed are not taxed.  Other retailers, like Gamestop do not tax the Season Pass.  Even Best Buy does not tax the e-currency of the various video game systems, so why should this be different?
All I would like is a refund of the $4.07 tax that I paid.

Hi darrell521,
Thanks for your post. I'd like to research this further. Due to the holiday, it may be next week before I have an update (as I need to partner with other business teams), but rest assured I will follow up with some clarification and resolution as soon as I am able. If you need anything in the meantime, please reach out to me here.
I appreciate your ongoing patience,

  • ITunes wants to charge me for a show I bought a season pass for

Back in September, before the show even started, I bought a season pass for the TV show "Total Drama All Stars". For the first 3 episodes, I was sent an email once they were available, and was then easily able to download the episode within minutes. However, I'm currently experiencing an issue with episode 4. Generally, the show airs on TV on Tuesday nights, then shows up on iTunes at 3 AM the next morning. However, when I woke up at 8 AM this morning, I didn't have an email, so I went to check the iTunes store myself. Episode 4 is available, but the store wants to charge me $1.99 for it, even though the season pass already says "purchased". I can still redownload the first three episodes, but I'd have to pay again for the fourth.
How do I report this and get the episode I already paid for? The only report link I could find required me to buy the episode and then request a credit, which I'd rather not do. I paid my 20 bucks for this show a month ago, and even if the cost is minimal, it's still not fair to charge me again to fix a mistake I didn't make.

Ringtones are a ONE-TIME download. If you didn't transfer them to your iTunes library so that you could sync them back to your phone, you will have to re-purchase them.

  • Save $5 on MKX Season Pass, Eligible for those who already preordered in advance w/ GCU benefits?

    Hello,
I had preordered my Xbox One copy of Mortal Kombat X with the Gamer's Club Unlocked benefits and I noticed in this week's advertisement that I could save $5 together with the Season Pass. I haven't seen this offered prior to this Sunday. Is there a way for us to take advantage of this offer as well, given that we preordered in advance and now are unable to change our orders?
    Thank you!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello bcuzicno1/notoriousreignz-
We are offering a ton of special promotions with the release of Mortal Kombat X, so much so that it’s hard to keep track of all of them.  Getting $5 off a Season Pass is a good deal, so I can understand you wanting to take advantage of them.
This promotion is not a pre-order offer, but an offer with the purchase of the game.  That means that if you pre-ordered in-store, the store would simply have to add the Season Pass to your purchase and you should be all set.  However, if you pre-ordered online for in-store pickup, the store would most likely have to return your purchase after you completed pickup and then re-ring it to add the Season Pass.
Since it appears that the Season Pass is only available in our stores, there is not a way to add it to your cart to get the $5 off.
I hope that this helps and that you are able to benefit from the Season Pass promotion should you choose to pick it up!

  • If I already have episodes downloaded then buy a season pass will I be charged the whole price?

I have already bought tv episodes on a current tv series, but if I buy the season pass for that series will I be charged the full season pass price? Or will I just be charged with the episodes I do not have yet?

To quote a previous answer by AHXtreme42...
If you purchase a Season Pass for a TV show season, which you already own many or all of those episodes of that season, you WILL pay the full price for all of the episodes of the season, and it will probably download again the episodes you already have.
It doesn't work like complete my album, where you get the price off the songs you already bought.
So, to get the best deal, buy the season pass at the very start of the season.
If you already have lots of episodes for a season, it is best to purchase the rest of the episodes of the season individually, if the total cost of all of those individuals is less than the season pass price.
    Sorry!

  • I bought a season pass for cod and it doesn't work

So I went to best buy, bought call of duty advanced warfare, the lady askede of I wanted season pass with it and I said yes. When I got home, I installed call of duty into my Xbox one and then proceeded to redeem my season pass code. When I typed it in and clicked enter, it did nothing. I tried again and it said that my code was already used! Can someone help me?!

    Hi matlun,
Based on what you mentioned, it sounds as though your season pass code may have been redeemed when you initially tried to enter it despite your console not progressing to a validation screen. We aren't able to verify this though, as Microsoft is responsible for the administration and maintenance of these codes. When you can, I'd encourage you to check out this article on Microsoft's official Xbox support site and to see if any of the suggested solutions work for you:
Troubleshoot Xbox Live code redemption issues
I hope this helps. And thanks for purchasing your copy of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare with us!

  • Quick season pass question

If I have already purchased half a season of a show and I would like the rest of the episodes...would I be able to purchase the season pass and it'll just charge me the difference of the season pass to what I already spent? Or would it charge me the full season pass amount even though I already paid and downloaded half the episodes?
Or would a refund be givin?
    I hope this makes sense.
    Thanks in advance
      Windows XP

If you purchase the season pass, you will be purchasing all episodes as far as I know. No credit or refund will be given for prior purchases.

  • Destiny Season Pass

I recently purchased the Destiny Season Pass at Best Buy and its been 2 days and i havent recived my code for the season pass yet. The only emails i have received from Best Buy are for feedback on my purchase and for other deals. Can anyone tell me how much longer i will have to wait to receive my season pass code in an email?

    Hello Culkin14,
Thanks for being a My Best Buy member, and thank you for purchasing your Xbox currency from Best Buy.  I can understand your concern regarding the tax policies of these items.
Tax is only charged on digital currency when required by local law.  It is my understanding that Xbox Live will likewise only charge tax when required by law.  Regrettably they do not provide cards for us to sell that take tax into consideration.  If you know that tax is assessed in your area we can sell additional cards to ensure you will have a sufficient value to cover your desired product.
    Thanks,

  • Multi-Pass or Season Pass?

How do I know which one I purchased? My Purchase History does not indicate one way or the other. I thought I had paid for a "season pass" for Battlestar Gallatica season 3 (in fact my purchase history shows a $42.42 charge for Battlestar Gallatica season 3 but doesn't elaborate). Today I got an e-mail saying that my "multi-pass" couldn't be renewed (which is not a surprise as I've changed banks recently) but why would it need to be renewed? I thought I had a season pass. Besides that issue, the season is over now and I've downloaded all the episodes, why would Apple need to charge me for any more? Also, it's interesting that I was charged (a total including tax) of $42.42 when the current "season pass" is only $34.99 (which would be $38.09 with tax) in the first place... It would seem to me that Apple should be refunding me $4...
    -Doug

OK - Just trying to clarify things here.
    1) There is not a MultiPass option for shows like BattleStar Galaactica (Great show BTW). You can only purchase the Season Pass.
    2) I got an email from iTunes giving me free video credits since the Season was shorter than was originally predicted. I found the email and here's an the jist of it:
"Thank you for purchasing the Season Pass for Battlestar Galactica - Season 3. Due to a change in the number of episodes the network plans to air, the Season Pass price for Battlestar Galactica - Season 3 has been reduced.
We want you to be completely satisfied with your Season Pass purchase, so please accept this free video code, good for any five $1.99 TV show episodes or music videos on the US iTunes Store."
    3) So the MultiPass email you received was for a different show or a glitch in the system (maybe caused by the shorten season?). Did the email specifically mention "Battlestar?" Anyway, since it didn't renew, you weren't charged for anything.

  • Do I Need to Repurchase a Season Pass Purchased Using my Now-Gone 1st Gen Apple TV?

We purchased a season pass a few months ago on our old Apple TV, which we have since donated (it was wiped before donation).  I just went to re-download the season we purchased, and it looked as if iTunes was going to charge me again for it.
How can I re-download the season without paying twice?  Thanks in advance.

Have you failed to maintain a backup copy fo your purchases?
You wiped your Apple TV without making sure you had a backup copy of your content?

  • Battlestar galactica season pass too expensive

why is the battlestar galactica season pass $37.99 plus tax? w/ 19 downloads at $1.99 each (20 season episodes, season premier contained 2 episodes), the total comes to $37.81, plus tax. where is the deal in buying a season pass? why should i not just buy each episode individually?

Seriously? That's more than lame, that's a rip-off...! Even if it's only a couple bucks.
I'm not really getting the point behind the "Season Pass" idea, myself, not from a consumer standpoint, not from a marketing standpoint.
First, there's no discount provided to the customer for an up-front commitment, as is typically the case with subscription media. In fact, many of them are slightly more expensive than the individual episodes.
    eg:
    NBC's 'Heroes' @
    ( Season Pass 42.99 USD ÷ 1.99 USD / Episode ≅ 21.603... Episodes )
    - is greater than -
    ( 21 Episodes (assumed) × 1.99 USD = 41.79 USD ).
Maybe there's 22 eps... Who knows? iTunes isn't telling. In fact, unless all of the ep's have already been released for individual download, I haven't found an entry yet that enumerates the episodes. This could get into issues with the broadcasters and all that, I'm sure, but just a number or something would be nice, maybe indicating the discount for buying a "Season Pass" over individually... When they finally decide to grant one.
Second, say you're like me, and you always d/l a few episodes of the series, just to see if it was any good, and you're now firmly hooked and would like to continue, maybe even buy a subscription. Well, I should get a discount, then, right? I mean, I've already shelled out $6 to $10 towards that season, why not just knock that off my "Season Pass" price and assess the remaining discount as a percentage? Not so. My price is the same as yours, who's neither seen minute one nor contributed a cent.
Thirdly, what's the real advantage? That iTunes will automatically d/l the next episode for me? Whoopie! Since I'm a Mac user, I can setup an iCal alarm to remind me of that, and if I was an advanced enough Mac user, I could probably setup an AppleScript to do the d/l'g for me and fire it off of that alarm event. Note: I'm not that much of a nerd. Yet.
So, what say you, Apple gurus? Or do I have to blog it and get dugg or slashdotted first?

  • Can I use a gift card to buy a season pass?

I have some iTunes giftcards that I would like to use to buy season passes. However, when I click to buy the season I would like, it doesn't give me an option to choose how to pay; it simply pops up a screen that says confirm you would like to buy xyz.  Is there an option to buy with a gift card?  Does it come up on a later screen? I don't want to committ myself by clicking that I want to buy unless I can use my giftcard, so I haven't proceeding any farther yet.  Thanks in advance for your help!

you mean iTunes gift card ? if yes, you can't.

  • Season Pass - Still active after the season is completed

Some time ago I purchased a pass for the first season of Breaking Bad.
After seven episodes the season was officially over.
However, the season pass remains active (it still is).
When I want to switch to a different iTunes store (different counry), iTunes tells me that it is not possible as long as I have active season passes.
Is a season pass supposed to expire/end automatically after the respective season is complete?
If it is supposed to be this way, how can I close/end my still active season pass.
Thank in advance for the help

    Hi Girish,
My bad, forgot to put all the required info in the post. Sorry about that.
Database 10.2.0.2.0 - enterprise, Linux OS. I have enough SGA (64gb), PGA, undo, temp tablespace space.
The select is a "normal" read only select that needs to read millions of blocks from data files. The main table is partitioned and the waits are on reading data from partitions. In v$session the main session and the child processes are marked as killed.
In v$lock I see that the wait is on db read scan. Everything is working. That's actually my issue.
Why it's still querying data/reading from disk when I killed all the sessions.
Doesn't Oracle stop the processes associated with a killed session?
    I killed the session: alter system kill session 'sid,serial';
Do you think "alter system disconnect session 'sid, serial' immediate" is better?
What I don't understand is how can I stop fast (ok I get that it can not happen in a few seconds) a query that is only read only that is running for too long. When I kill a session I was expecting the processes associated with it to stop. In a update/insert/delete, the server will wait for the rollback, but this is not changing data.
If you think more debug is necessary I will upload on Monday AWR and all the statistics I collected. I am not in the office now.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

  • Missing $10 certificate for Call of Duty Advanced Warfare pre-order

Also haven't received Dragon Age Inquisition yet, but it has yet to be 20 days.  I miss having a separate rewards site to keep track of all this as it was much easier than the present format.  The way orders and point searching is integrated is not very clear.
Anyways, please help in missing pre-order bonus for CoD: AW
    Thanks!

    Hi there bradinoh-
I apologize for the tardiness of this response; it’s definitely the holiday season as we are a little backed up right now on the forums!  I hope that you are enjoying both Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Dragon Age: Inquisition as both look to be pretty fun games!
As enuf was kind enough (get it?) to point out, Dragon Age: Inquisition is not a My Best Buy Gamers Club Get $10 title.  However, I can confirm that the 500 bonus points for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has posted to your account.  Generally, those points will show along with your original transaction in your account profile.
I hope that this helps and Happy Holidays!
