Chargeing ipod on another computer

can i charge an ipod on another computer that doesnt have itunes

Yes. Just make sure to safely disconnect it before disconnecting the iPod from the computer.
After it is done charging, click the safely disconnect icon by the clock (in Windows--it is a small icon with a green arrow) and go to stop iPod device (the wording may not be exactly like that).
Just make sure that the iPod does not say Do Not Disconnect when you disconnect the iPod.
But, yes, you can charge it on a computer without iTunes.

  • Can I charge ipod on another computer?

I am going abroad for the weekend & will be using my 2GB Nano iPod on the journey. I have a separate charger but it may not have the correct European pins. Is it possible to charge my iPod on somone else's (non Mac as far as I know) computer through the USB lead so that I have enough power to listen during the weekend and, more importantly, on the journey home?
I think the answer is probably "No"
    Thanks,
    Whippetwalker

Set your iPod to manual update, that will enable disk use by default (both the "manually manage songs and videos" check box and the "enable disk use" box are in the same preference tab). It will also avoid you getting the iTunes warning as the iPod will not attempt to sync when it finds itself connecting to a different library. You can change it back and disable disk use when you return home, see the links below for details:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
Something to remember about using an iPod that has been enabled for disk use is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device. In that case use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on the desktop and check this link for alternative methods: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • Charging Ipod in another country

I am travelling to the UK next week and wanted to know how I can charge my Ipod 30gb while there. I already have an adaptor that can be used in the US, but do I only need a convertor to use it in the UK?
Also, is there a way to synch the Ipod from another computer that has Itunes?

"I already have an adaptor that can be used in the US, but do I only need a convertor to use it in the UK?"
You'll need an adapter to change to a UK three pin plug. If it's a third party charger check the manufacturer's website to make sure it's designed to be used internationally. The Apple iPod charger works at voltages anywhere between 100 and 240 volts, so only the plug fitting is required. You can also charge the iPod through any computer you may have access to while travelling.
"Also, is there a way to synch the Ipod from another computer that has Itunes?"
You won't be able to sync from a second computer but you can set your iPod to manual update so that you can use it on multiple computers:

  • My computer died. I do not want to loose one video on my iPod, how can I  use the iPod  on another computer? Please help!

please advise how I can put my iPod on another computer, my old one died a slow death.  There is one short video on my iPod that can't  be replaced.

    - What is the source of the videos? If taken by the iPod you can transfer them to the new computer by:
Copying personal photos and videos from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer
    - If they were iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - If they were synced to the iPod and not iTunes purchases then you need a third-party program like TouchCopy or PhoneView.

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos".

If i sync my ipod with another computer to get more music on it. Will it erase all my apps, app data, and pictures?

All synced media that is not already in the iTunes library on the second computer will be erased. This second computer will be your syncing computer
You can only sync with one computer/iTunes library.

  • Using ipod with another computer

Hi I would appreciate any help anyone could offer please! I would like to use my ipod on another computer (ibook g4). How do I go about transfering my songs, videos etc on my new computer. I have purchased some songs but it wont allow me to download to my ipod help! It has copied my ipod onto the computer but wont allow me to access them? Any help very much appreciated thanks in advance!

I thought my question was answered and it kind of was, however there were some things that were not explained.
If I use a compatable computer and link into in tunes it ask me a series of questions. All I am trying to do is purchase something from iTunes and download it to my iPod Video from another computer.
I want to make sure that everything in my iPod stays and that everything I have purchased stays not only in my computer but at the very least that I can make sure that I will be able to have them on my computer when I get home.
So, is there a way to purchase something from iTunes from another computer and download it my iPod?
    thanx

  • Can I sync iPod on another computer

I have an iPod nano that I had synced to another computer that crashed. I would like to sync my iPod to another computer without losing all my songs that are existing on iPod. Is this possible?

You can't do an iPod to computer transfer of song files using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can do an iPod to computer transfer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your new computer, add them to that computer's iTunes library.  You can then sync your iPod nano to that computer's iTunes library.

  • Connecting iPod to another computer

When I connect my iPod to a different computer, it gives the message that it will erase the iPod unless I click cancel. When I do that, the iPod does not show up in iTunes. I want to be able to play my music on that computer, so i've tried using shiftaltctrl and shift+ctrl when connecting it, but in both cases the iPod shows up initially, but disappears when I click its icon.
So how do I connect it so I can play the music on another computer?
    Thanks

Go to the top of this page and click "support" Type ipod multiple computers in the search bar.
You will get articles describing the process.
