Charger cable replacement?

My charger cable has broken. I've heard that Apple warranty may cover this damage. There is no Apple store in my city, so I cannot bring it to the store. Where should I send my cable to and will Apple pay for the shipping fee?

Thank you! I called Apple support in Finland but there was some automatic reply in Finnish. I'm a foreigner so I speak English only.. I made an appointment with Apple support also, I received the call but there might be something wrong with the connection I guess, as I couldn't hear anything T_T
Could I contact them via email? that would be the most convenient way for me.

I lost my charging cable. while on vacation. Is there a way to get a new one? are there other generic cables that can be recommended?

    Hi DS1977,
In examining my Ink charging cable it appears to be a typical Micro USB to USB charging cable. I happened to have one from another device and it seemed to work okay for charging Ink for me.
You might want to confirm with Adonit though, just to make sure, I think this would be the correct email [email protected], got it from here: Contact Adonit
    Hope that helps,

  • Out of warranty MBP ,Burned Magsafe port and frayed charger cable Replacement option and cost?

I have a MBP 15" 2011 model and This is the burned magsafe port (leftmost pin melted) which i noticed today.
The connector gets too hot sometimes ( but remains ok when i charge in sleep mode). Simetimes the charging will stop and LED will become green and then I reconnect it to get it in charging mode.
The Frayed cable: very light cut at connector side and heavily frayed at brick as shown.
So what should I do now and how much would it cost to repair this? Should i buy a new charger?
Also I live at a place where there is no Apple Service Center (nearest one is 300 km away). So, can I use these things as they are for 2 weeks ie by charging in sleep mode or when the port doesn't get hot while charging.

Replacement phones do not start a new one year warranty. The warranty still expires one year from the date the original phone was purchased.

  • What kind of replacement charger cable do I need for my Acer Tab 8 A1-850?

I have a brand new Acer Tab 8 A1-850 (which is so far working quite nicely) but the USB charger cable was accidentally ruined after an unfortunate encounter with hot candle wax. I'd like to buy a replacement cable but know not all micro USB cables are the same. What specs should I be on the lookout for when shopping for a cable of appropriate size?

The cable should be just the normal one, the special smarts that tell the tablet to charge at full speed is in the power brick.

  • Is it free to replace a charging cable that quits on u?

Is it free to replace a charging cable that has stopped working?

If you are still under the 1 year warranty, and Apple determines it is defective, then yes it is.

hi, i have an iPhone 5 and have had to replace the charger cable 3 times, its cost me a small fortune! i paid for applecare + for it, am i covered?

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW.
If the basic troubleshooting steps don't work, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and probable replacement.

  • IPHONE 3G-end of charging cable coming apart, free replacement?

    Hi All!
Got new iphone 3G this past April thru Best Buy. I noticed the end of my charging cable that plugs into the phone is coming apart. Phone still charges but the white cording is exposing the silver wires at the part that is connecting my charging conector for my phone to the cord. Can I go to best buy and get a new one? Is that covered under the 1 year warranty??
    Thanks much!!!

You arent alone here, I have both sides of the USB taped up because the silver wires are becoming exposed.
Thanks for the idea, i will exchange this!

  • IPod Touch 4g USB Charging Cable(s!) Not Working. Went through 5 in a year.

I've had my 8 gb iPod Touch 4g since November 12th, 2010. I bought it from Target (so its not covered under warranty anymore) love it and use it for many hours every day, but there is a problem with the USB charging cables.
When I got my iPod, it came with the standard Apple charging cable. That cable worked for a few months (maybe... 3?) and all of a sudden stopped working. When I used my friends cord, it worked perfectly fine. She had the same exact model and cord as I did. I ended up just buying a replacement cord, thinking that this was just a fluke or whatever. No such deal. I purchased a third party cord from amazon, and it worked for a few months again. (Let me note that I also got a car and wall charger with it, those work perfectly fine to this day.) Once again, all of a sudden it broke. And again, I tried a friend's cord and it worked fine.
I ended up buying a third and fourth cords, which was also third party, and after that broke, I was fed up and went to the Genius Bar for an appointment. I explained my problem, and they made an appointment with me. Eventually, they just said to buy another cord, this time Apple brand. I did, and it has been working fine up until tonight, when it just stopped charging.
    When I say that the cords broke, I mean that all of a sudden they would stop charging my iPod, no matter where I plugged it in. (computer, wall, car, etc.) It would/will only charge if I bent it a very certain way, and then I would need to hold it there, which I obviously can't do for hours. (;
I would take this apple cord back now, since I believe there is a warranty (although, I need to double check that when I can get to the papers.) if it weren't for the fact that, from use, the coating/white plastic of the actual cord has split and you can see a few of the wires. I will have to double-check if this is covered, though because of the outside appearance, I doubt that they would take it back. This has not happened with any of the other cords, however.
What should I do? Would restoring help this problem? I have been contemplating the idea for a while, but having to re-download/etc all of my apps, music, etc., is not the most appealing idea to me.. I have reset a few things a while back, though I cannot remember what they are, sadly.
Currently, my iPod is running iOS 5, as I just updated it about a month or so ago. Before that, it was running what the iPod touch 4g originally came with... I believe it was 4.2.1?
I really love my iPod, but am fed up with having to buy cords every few months, as I have gone through four or five in just a year.

I think stevejobsfan has misunderstood your problem.
You specifically state that in one case you can see the inner cord and wires of the lead. So, either - you are mis-handling the cord or a pet is chewing it. So, if you don't have a pet - it's you.
When you remove the cord from the iPod (or from the other end of it) you should handle by the plug, not the cord itself. If you pull the cord you are straining the connection between the cord and the plug and that will eventually cause that connection to break.
If this had happened to just one cord, maybe it's the cord. If it happened to several of the same make from the same source, perhaps it may have been a faulty batch. But for it to happen five times, with cords from different sources and different manufacturers - everything points to the cord being handled too roughly.
Buy another cord - but in future, remove it by gripping the plug and not by pulling on the cord. This applies to any cord or lead, including mains powered devices. If you have any other cords for any other product, I suggest you check them for damage because damaged cords can be a fire risk and create a risk of electric shock. Mains voltage can kill.
Another thought; if you wrap cords - including headphone leads - around anything (such as the charger itself), wrap it loosely. A tight wrap also strains the cord to plug connection.

  • Why is the iphone charging cable of such bad quality?

I phone 5 c charging cable is terrible quality, i've replaced it twice in the span of 6 months of buying the phone, they are not even cheap. Why should I as a paying customer be given such atrocious quality of accessories.

The cable is covered by the same warranty as the iPhone

  • How much is it going to cost to get my charger port replaced?

And i don't man the charger cable, I mean the actual socket that the charger chord plugs into, how much is that going to cost for me to get it fix/replaced.. with no warranty.

You must of not read my full post... the charger cable is irrelevant.. im talking about the actual socket on my macbook that it plugs into how much would that cost to get fixed/replaced..

If the cable that came with it went bad with in a year, it's still under warranty. Have it replaced.

Replacement MagSafe DC cables are not available. You'll need to work with the pieces you have or buy a new AC adapter (which would be the better choice).

  • Charging cable burned two times

I bought an iPhone 6 January this year. But was broken three times.
The first one did not turn on the phone during the 8.2 os update.
    And was replaced in March.
The second, my charging cable connector was burned. i think the phone caused it.
but South korea AS center changed charging cable. I believed in their decisions.
After a week, today, this cable that changed is burning again.
I am calling South korea AS. they tell me
"we can not change anythings before broke 3 times with same symptoms."
i am waiting to burn cable bought for changing it.
Please tell me how i process.
    1. First burned calble
    2. Second burned cable

It sounds like there may be something wrong with the electrical system in your house or wherever you are charging your device, as this is not normal.
