Charger wire rubber coming off?

Hi,
The charger wire that comes with the 3gIphone, if the white rubber that covers the internal wiring is coming off, is that bad? my wire, the end which you connect into the computer or into the wall adapter, that section the white rubber is coming off for some reason and i can see the wires inside, is it still safe to use?

It is safe to use, but this is covered under the iPhone's one year warranty.
If you are in the U.S., you can call AppleCare at (800) 694-7466 and AppleCare will ship you a replacement USB cable, or you can make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

  • IBook G4 charge toggles on and off

All of the sudden, when we plug in our MacAlly PS-AC4 charger into our iBookG4, the computer recognizes that a plug has been inserted, goes into charging mode (the icon at the top changes), the screen goes brighter -- and then less than a second later, it changes back into battery mode (dimmer screen, different icon) -- and then it changes back again, over and over. Not only is this distracting, the computer is not charging.
I read through a bunch of messages on this board and tried a number of suggestions. Here's some facts:
    - The iBook is less than 2 years old and very gently used
    - The input isn't wiggly or moving at all
    - We got the MacAlly 2 mos ago after the factory charger stopped working at all. Until recently, we've had 0 problems.
    - I reset the PMU
    - When the charger is inserted while the computer is on, system information does not recognize it as inserted.
    - When turned off, the computer does appear to take a charge.
    - The battery stats seem to me (a non-techie) to be fine.
    Battery Installed: Yes
    First low level warning: No
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 4366
    Remaining Capacity (mAh): 2041
    Amperage (mA): -1082
    Voltage (mV): 11211
    Cycle Count: 47
I'm beginning to think that the fault lies with the MacAlly charger. However, are there any other possible causes I'm not seeing? Anything else we can do or try? Thanks in advance for your help!

It seems to me the only things that could cause your symptoms are a bad charger which is shutting off when the extra charging current is drawn, or a bad battery which is open circuit and won't accept a charge (goes instantly to full-charge Voltage). It sounds like the computer will run off the battery, so the latter isn't likely. Other possible culprits would be a confused PMU which didn't really get reset (there's more than one way to reset a PMU, so be sure you're doing the right one for your model iBook), a loose power input connection, or a broken wire at the power plug.
There's also a chip in the battery, and they sometimes get confused. Cycling the battery (full discharge followed by a full charge) sometimes helps. There is a battery reset utility, but I don't know if it works on G4s.

  • How to clean mpb charger wires

basically my mpb charger wires are all dirty. i was wondering whats the best way to clean them?
im thinking of using baby wipes...
please let me know whats the best solution
    Thanks in advanced.
    Ishack

Baby wipes have lotion that can accumulate on the connections and cause problems.  Gently use a pencil eraser on each contact to clean off any oxidation.  If there is too much crud, or you can't get an eraser in there, a clean damp cloth (use just a little plain water or isopropyl alcohol).  You might be able to use an eye glass cleaner wipe (it only has isopropyl alcohol and water so as not to leave any deposits on the lenses).

  • My Charging wire will no longer fit in my Iphone 5

My charging wire no longer connects with my IPhone 5 something is blocking the connection in the phone

And after you look and see what's in there, consider getting a new, clean toothpick (or something similar) to see if you can scoop the debris out of the port.

  • When I plug my ipad in to charge its just coming up with a red bar in the charge icon and not charging

When i plug in my ipad to charge its just coming up with a red bar in the recharge icon and not charging.... what does this mean and how can it be fixed... checked all cables, not broken

First make sure you are using the charger that came with the iPad and plug that into a good wall outlet. When the iPad battery is completely drained it may take some time on the charger before the iPad responds. Be patient and let the iPad remain on the charger for at least an hour then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until the battery is at 100%. If the iPad does not restart Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • Which is better when charging? Turning it off or leaving it on?

Which is better when charging? Turning it off or leaving it on?

I think it is a good idea at least once a week to charge your phone whilst it is switched off......dont worry about it 'overcharging'.....any fresh updates for Apps etc tended to come thru a little bit quicker if your phone is switched off then back on

  • HT4061 My iPhone 4 does will not power up once I have turned it off.  When I try to charge it in the off position I only get "pinging".  Has anyone else had this problem?  If so, what is the remedy?

My iPhone 4 does not/will not power up once I have turned it off.  When I try to charge it in the off position, the screen remains black and I only get continuous pinging tones.  Has anyone had this problem?  If so, what is the remedy?

Thanks so much but none of that helped.  It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive.  I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!
Thank you for your help and replying to this.  Guess I made my own issue!

I dropped my iPod touch 4 generation on my kitchen tile and it shattered, like chunks of the screen are coming off. But everything works and I’ve had it for a 1 ½ years now. I don’t have the extended warranty or anything but can I get it replaced somehow? if anyone knows anything please let me know. thank you!

Depending on the extent of the damage, Apple may replace the iPod for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/faq/
There are independent iPod repair services that may be able to repair the iPod for less. Do a web search for "ipod repair". Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPod serviced by an unauthorized shop, all further warranty will be void.
