Charging an iPad Air in the US via a plug adapter

Hello everyone,
I have a question about charging my European-bought iPad Air in the US.
I am using the original iPad Cable and a socket adapter from SKROOS to charge my iPad and I've noticed that it takes much longer to charge the device compared to Europe. To illustrate I left it completely discharge and then plugged it in in airplane mode and after 4 hours the battery is only 50% full. I do not have another cable to try charging it with, but I've tried two different sockets (at home and at work) and in both cases it takes longer than usual. Hence, I was wondering if taking longer to charge is normal given that I'm using a socket adapter.
Any advice on how to improve the battery charging? Would it be OK if I bought a US charger from Apple? From what I understand my EU-device should hadle the voltage?!
Great many thanks!
Robert

All Apple chargers work from 100-240VAC, 50-60Hz power. All you will need is a plug adapter for the country you are in.
See the various plug configurations for different countries at http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4341
Using US power vs European power shouldn't make a difference.
Try this first -  Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • How long do i have to charge my ipad air for the first time?

For how long do i have to charge my new i-pad air the first time after unpacking it??

Typically you shouldn't have to charge it. It should come with enough of a charge to use it right out of the box. But you will need to charge it when the battery gets low and you can do that at your convenience....and you can use the iPad while the battery is charging.

  • ITunes could not connect to the iPad "Micah's iPad Air" because the device timed out.

After using my ipad air for the last week, I plugged it in for the first time to back up some videos. I get this message: iTunes could not connect to the iPad “Micah's iPad Air” because the device timed out. Any ideas?

Eject your iPad if you haven't already done so. Quit iTunes and restart your computer. Reboot your iPad and then try again, use another USB port on your computer, of you have another free port available,
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Using the original charger, my ipad air says it is not certified and wont charge

using my original charger, my ipad air wont charge. it says the charger is not certified and may not work. it charges my iphone but wont work on the ipad

I've the same issue with my new Ipad Air and using the original charger.
It starts to charges then after a while it stops and issue the incompatible charger msg. Then I unplug and plug again and it starts charging again.
Know the trick thing is, I've exchange the chargers from my other IPad mini and none of the ipads gave any charging issue, they charged till full.
I see no logic on this.

  • Charging my iPad Air from my laptop

How do I charge my iPad Air from my laptop. When I plug via USB to my laptop I get 'not charging' written by the battery symbol. It doesn't seem to matter what the % charge is. Can anyone help me please.

The USB ports on your laptop do not provide sufficient power to efficiently charge your iPad. While the Not Charging does show your iPad is probably charging very slowly. The best way to charge an iPad is to use the charger that came with the iPad and plug that into a good wall outlet.

  • How can I link my iPad Air and iPhone 4s via Bluetooth, please?  They haveBluetooth turned on but will not find each other.

How can I link my iPad Air and iPhone 4s via Bluetooth, please?  They both have Bluetooth turned on but will only search and find nothing. The words 'Now Discoverable' appear under the search panel.

for the devices to find each other via Bluetooth you would need to turn on the iPhones cellular hotspot and then let them search for each other. As far as I have found this Bluetooth connection is only for connecting the iPad to internet via iPhones data plan.
To transfer photos you could setup a new photo stream and put the photos you want transferred in it. When it syncs to the iPad you can save directly to the camera roll and delete the photo stream. You may also be able to delete the photos old photos and re-add them to photo stream so it looks like they are new to the iPad.

Technical service in Spain is useless.  They told me to re-install everything again as when it's brand new, application by application to see which one is failing.  I have 150 applications.
If they continue in this direction they will end up like Palm
You can tell Steve Jobs is no longer in charge.
I'm thinking of moving to Samsung.

If this problem continued across an iPad with Retina to an iPad Air it is almost definite it is one of your apps causing the problem. Run it for a day with no apps loaded on it, if it doesn't freeze then one of your apps that has not been updated is causing the issue. And the Technical Service in Spain gave you correct information.
It was no different when Mr. Jobs was still in charge (I was around for iOS 3.0) and it is no different on a Surface or a Note.

  • Why my pc don´t charge my ipad air???, why my pc don´t charge my ipad air???

i would like to know if is normal that I can charged my ipad air in my computer

If you mean when you have your iPad plugged into your computer and the screen is on the battery goes down, that's normal. THe USB puts out less power than the iPad is using, so your battery goes down.
Your iPad will trickle charge off the iPad if the screen is off and the computer remains on - not going to sleep. (since when it goes to sleep power is usually cut off to the ports)

I purchased an Apple, Lightning to 30-pin Adapter, to convert my current charger, to one that will charge my Ipad Air.  When I try to charge my Ipad Air, using this Adapter, it does charge, but at a VERY slow pace!  Is that normal, or is something wrong with it?
