Charging, and 1-10-06 update problems

I have windows 2000, and a fourth generation (click wheel) ipod. After updating with the 1-10-06 updater, all I got when I plugged my ipod into my computer OR a wall charger was the chardge symbol which shows a ipod wall adaptor sticking into a wall.
My computer does not recognize it, and pressing any buttons on my ipod just results in the same symbol. Eventually I got fed up, and sent it off to be repaired under my warrenty. They sent it back saying it needed no repair, and giving me the impression that they didn't do anything.
Yet it worked! All my songs, and settings were gone, but I didn't care because I couldn't even see the ipod menue before!
I plugged it into the computer, and was delighted to see the "DO NOT DISCONNECT-UPDATING" message which was a great relief. For some reason they had reformatted it to mac-OS X so I followed the instructions to reformat it. I pressed restore, and... Now im back to square one! It just gives me the chardge symbol, and I can do nothing with it. My ipod has become a paper weight. Im only now finding out that the 1-10-06 updater is infamous. I just wish that those repair guys could tell me how they fixed it so easily... any ideas?
Compaq   Windows 2000

Well after reading "Bear Is Driving" link (http://www.bearsdriving.com/blog/archives/2005/10/youripod_tipo.html) I had the happy idea to try plugging into my Belkin FM auto adaptor and yes—it worked, finished the update and that was that. Still have no idea why the Apple supplied AC adaptor wouldn't do it or the USB… least I got to answer my own query. Cheers—

  • Safari 6.0.2 and adobe flash player update problem

I am having problems installing the current version of adobe flash player.  Whenever I try and view a video from a site that requires it (eg. youtube, etc.), it says I need to update adobe flash player and sends me to a link to do so.  I've installed flash player "successfully" several times, deinstalled it and reinstalled it, re-downloaded it, but I'm always getting the message to update flash player.  Can anyone help with some suggestions to get this working corectly?
I am running osx 10.8.2 and safari 6.0.2.
    Thanks very much.  Ron

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test.
    1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. If there is more than one item in the folder with the words "Flash Player" (not "flashplayer") in the name, open the respective Info windows, check the version numbers, and delete all except the latest. You may be prompted for your login password. If you get the same error after doing that, re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    2. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
    3. Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    4. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

  • Plugged phone up to the charger and it will not turn back on

Last night when i was going to bed i plugged my phone up to the charger and it started to update with the newest software which was 7.1.something? and this morning when i woke up my phone was turned off and will not turn back on, when you attempt to turn the phone on it flashes a screen that has a blue dot and a picture of the charging cable and just says i tunes. How can I fix my phone? I am trying to download itunes to my computer now but not sure it will fully work.

        rhughes18,
I am sorry to hear about the issues you are having with your device after the update. To fix this you must plug your device into the computer with iTunes open and go through the activation process. Let us know if the device comes back on after plugging it into iTunes.

  • IPOD touch Screen is blacked out. I charges and itunes recognizes it, only the screen remains black. Is there any way to fix this Problem. I have the latest software update and I restored it several times, but screen remains blacked out.

My IPOD touch 4th gen screen does not display.  The software seems to be working and itunes recognizes the device.  I have restored it and reset the IPOD several times but the screen is still black.  What can I do to fix it? your help is very much appreciated. I do not have access to an apple store since I am stationed in Afghanistan.

If you restored to factory defaults/new iPod (you did not say the type of restore your performed) and are still having the problem that indicates a hardware problem. An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order..

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable

I tried to update my iPod 4th generation while it was charging and when I came back to check on it the screen was red and it wouldnt go off, and my ipod wasnt charging like it was supposed to. I found out how to get the color of the screen off but my ipod always has the low battery thing and when I charge it sometimes the screen turns blue or the apple logo comes up bright and then it gets dim and stays there. My ipod wont turn on, and I really want it to work again. Help me please! Also, I noticed my ipod battery hasnt been lasting long as it should efore this happened.

  • HT1476 After update to either iOS 7.0.3 or 7.0.4, my iPhone 4S won't charge. I'm using charger and cable that came with the phone. Nothing else changed.

I'm using charger and cable that came with the phone. Nothing else changed.
I think it was the update the iOS 7.0.4 that I did last night. I woke up this morning with my battery almost drained and the charging function going off and on every few seconds, like it would start charging then disconnect, then reconnect repeatedly.
I've tried restarting the phone and hard restarting the phone several times, but I'm getting really low on battery by now (under 20%).
I've tried cleaning the connector with a little isopropyl alcohol, and blowing it out with compressed air. Though I can't be 100% certain, it's very unlikely my connector died exactly at the same time I was updating my phone. Especially since it appears I'm not the only one with this problem.
And now, after the last hard reset, my phone doesn't even recognize the charger at all, or being connected with the USB cable to my MacBook Pro.
I turned off my phone so when I go to the Apple Store it will power up one last time, but besides that I'm out of ideas.

Just back from Genius Bar and two other people at my table had the same problem. Their 4Ss aren't charging either. One of them had a fried board according to the tech. At least my HW checked out OK. It just won't charge.
The tech tried to tell me that it was because my connector was corroded, which I told him was kind of a weak argument since evidence points to that the update has something to do with it.
They're seeing a lot of these and it looks like they already have a script.
Luckily I had enough juice left to recycle it for like $180, so I picked up a 5S with a new 2 year.
It looked to me like this is going to blow up pretty big. Like class action lawsuit big.
If you have an iPhone 4 or 4S, and you haven't updated it to iOS 7, don't for now. See if a patch comes out that doesn't brick your phone. Or get an induction charger maybe? Don't just update and expect absolutely no problems because too many people are having problems right now.

  • Serious Battery Problem: Lack of Charge and Quick Drain

I have a 15" Macbook Pro purchased late July/early August 2008, model number A1260 and has its software completely updated. I use the computer every day and, aside from the occasional cycling after getting the battery charge down to 0%, charge the computer every night.
Recently, my battery seems to be dying a LOT quicker, with the worst case of me leaving my computer to fall asleep with "Better Energy Savings" settings activated at 72% charge and coming back after about 15 minutes of cooking to find that the computer had completely died. After plugging the computer in to a power source, it took 10 minutes for the charge to change from 0% to 1% and, after reaching around 18%, I unplugged the power source and plugged it back in, triggering a change in the battery monitor that made the 18% charge reading jump up to 81%.
According to the System Profiler, my Power statistics are as follows:
    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 3016
    Fully charged: No
    Charging: Yes
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 3512
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 564
    Condition: Fair
Any ideas on what the problem might be or what I can do to solve it?

    Cycle count: 564
That's over 2 years of charging once every day cycles that you accumulated in just a little over 1 year. Personally, I don't recommend taking the battery down to 0%; it sounds like you have been 'riding it hard'. Batteries don't last forever.
If you purchased AppleCare, you can see what Apple says; without AppleCare, there isn't much you can do but buy a new battery.
    Note that: http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html says:
For Apple notebooks with removable batteries — such as previous generation MacBook and MacBook Pro computers — a properly maintained battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 300 full charge and discharge cycles.
    You are well over that.

There's a whole lot to read in your post, and frankly I have not read it all.
Having said that, this troubleshooting guide should help:

In particular, pay attention to the mobile device support sections near the bottom, assuming you have already done the items above it.

    Hello rj_23_sv,
I would be be concerned too if I was not able to update my iPhone.  If you have not resolved the issue, I recommend following article for an issue like this:
