Charging and using the iphone5
I often cannot use functions (unlock, text) while the charger is plugged in
Hi DivineAngel,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Be sure to try these steps if your iPhone is not charging:
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

Charging and using the Ipod at the same time
I have a MAC and my Ipod is formatted for MAC. While the Ipod is plugged in to the MAC with the USB cable, I can eject it and use the Ipod while it is charging. At work, I plug the Ipod in to a Windows machine. It mounts although it is not formatted for Windows and it charges. When I un-mount it, leaving it plugged in, it doesn't seem to charge. Is there a way that I can use the Ipod while it is plugged in to the Windows machine and see it charging? There seems to be no info. online.
Jack,
An iPod formatted for a Mac will not work on a Windows PC. See the extract below from the iPod FAQ. However you could try formatting it for Windows and see if it works for you on both. As you can see the FAQ says that some iPods may work however it's not supported by Apple.
Question: I have both a Mac and a PC. Will my iPod work on both?
Answer: No, not at the same time. iPod is configured for either Mac or PC. You can use the iPod Updater to restore iPod to work with a Mac or a PC (depending on which version of the updater you use). See "Restoring iPod to factory settings" for more information. Note: Using the iPod for Mac on a PC, or using the iPod for Windows on a Mac, is not supported by Apple. FAT32 is the format used by Windows, and while some FAT32 iPod models may work with your Mac, Apple only supports using the iPod shuffle in FAT32 format on Mac. For more information see the iPod shuffle Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). -
Hi,
Just want to check out with the other Apple Users here. I am using a Late 2013 rMBP, however the T Connector do get hot while I am charging and using the mac at the same time. Is this normal ? or do I have to drop by an Apple Store to check it out ?
Thanks in advanceHello there.
It's quite normal for the magsafe 2 connector (magnetic one) to become a bit warm while it's charging your mac. It will be warmer when your battery is low and the heat will start to dissipate as the battery charges. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. Normally your magsafe can go upto 35℃ depending your surrounding temperature. Even mine does. Just remember the warmth should not be untouchable, if that is what you feel take to a apple genius bar to get it checked.
Hope that helps.
Thank you. -
I get a error message "To charge faster, use the cable and device that were provided with this phone" when charging my Samsung Galaxy note 3. I took it to a store last week and they said it has something to do with the last software update. They tried charging it at the store and got the same message. I was given another phone, I still get the same error with the new phone.
Wowuor,
Thank you so much for reaching to us today. I want to make sure that we get the device charging the correct way. There is no physical or liquid damage to the phone or to the power cord correct? Did this error just start to appear as of last week? Please keep us posted.

Has anyone gone to Europe from the US and used the IPAD charger with only a plug adapter? I want to be sure I won't burn up my IPAD.
Just using an adapter will be fine. The charger can handle to 220V just as well as the 110V

jackfromsurreyWhat I am saying is ..........
The iPhone HAS to be active making calls on the UK carrier network for the carrier to identify as "theirs" and therefore eligible for the Carrier to unlock
The way to achieve this is to use a PAYG sim making and receiving calls to establish a customer relationship with the Carrier and then follow the Carrier's process to unlock
With a PAYG it usually means adding a specified (by the carrier ) amount usually £15 /£20 depending on the carrier
This is how O2 function and according to Gemma this is how Vodafone work -
Every time I try charging my Note 3 I get an error message: To charge faster, use the cable and device that were provided with this phone. What is the solution? The cable is fine and is the original charger!
Hello teachermama10, The Factory Data Reset does remove all data including files and photos. I understand that making sure your phone information is backed up is of the upmost importance. You can ensure your phone data is backed up using these links: http://vz.to/1uM5mwZ and http://vz.to/1vEzYok. The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

I can't turn on my MacBook Air despite trying to hold down the power button and using the SMC method. BTW my battery charger lights up to a green when plugged into the laptop.
Hello cass528,
I would be concerned too if my MacBook Air would not power on. I recommend following the steps in this article when experiencing an issue like this:

HI. When I plug in my charger and use my macbook, I feel some kind of roughness on the body. It feels like some current flowing around it. Need help please.
My 2006 MacBook Pro and my 2011 MacBook Air both do it. It happens because the earth ground stops at the power brick and is not carried through to the case of the machine. It is not dangerous or the machine would not have been UL approved.
Since I operate on battery 99.9999% of the time it doesn't bother me at all. -

I have a quention, when i am charging and using my ipad 2 at the same time, if the battery of ipad is fully 100%, does ipad use the power to work from the power adapter only or from the battery only or both? Thanks!
YOu don't have to have your receipt. Apple should have a record of how long you've had the device. If you bought it in april 2012, then your 1 year warranty against manufacturer's defects is almost up. You should find your local apple store, make an appointment and take it in.

Why does everyone else on my skype hearing me and what Im doing on my mac?
For example. I talking on skype with some friends and playing Counterstrike. They can hear me really good but they are hearing me shooting a target as well as they can hear me. WHYYYYY??
Plz help me!You should post in the Skype forums. However I would presume that Skype needs a WiFi network not a 3GS network to function.

MacBook Alum battery heating up while being charged and used
MacBook Alum battery heating up while being charged and used at the same time.
Is this normal? Or is it only mine? :SThe battery itself as in the bottom left side of the notebook or the white magsafe adapter that is actually plugged in? Either way, it is supposed to get warm unless you are talking burning hot on fire. Then of course it is a little too warm.

My IPad is getting hard to charge,I have to wiggly the charger to get it to charge. I've bought a new charger and used difference outlets. I need to know what is wrong?
Consider where you are wriggling the charger (I suspect you mean the cable. Why does everybody refer to a cable as "the charger"?) and make sure all the contacts there are free from pocket fluff and such.
