Charging Battery through USB (zen mic

So here's my story.
I'm in Europe traveling with my Micro and i'm at my cousin's place on his computer. My Laptop is dead along with my zen. I've been trying to charge it and it's not working.. It turns on and it shows a Battery symbol with a lightning bolt through it. What does that mean? After a half hour I unplugged it and it doesn't turn on. But it doesn't say "docked" either. Is that because it wasn't registered on this computer?
Please Help!

It charged for about 8 or so hours yesterday and countinues not to even turn on.. The lighting bolt just flashing on and off. I was able to charge it for a few minutes before my laptop died and it at least turned on.. The screen stays lite but the battery just still blinks with the lighting bolt.

  • Charge Battery through USB without Loading Software?

    Hi All,
Anyone who can please assist; would appreciate it.  Have been trying to investigate whether a Blackberry Battery can be charged via USB (Connected to a PC or Laptop) without having the Blackberry Desktop Software loaded.
Currently I have the Blackberry 8900 but even with the previous versions; I have never been able to charge my phone without having the Software loaded. Unfortunately my laptop is loaded with Windows XP 2002 Service Pack 2 and when loading the Software it seems to mess with the speed and sometimes ends Outlook and gives me a Blue ERROR screen which then I have to switch off my PC and then switch on after 5 minutes only. This sometimes happens 3 times in one day?
    Please advise, anyone, anyone!!!!

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these.

  • Problem charging battery of a Zen MicroPh

    Hi,
from some weeks on, I have problems trying to charge the battery of my Zen MicroPhoto. If I connect it to my PC, it charges without problems, but if I try to charge it using the wall charger (I have this: http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=23&subcategory=27&product=7), the flashing thunder will appear of the battery icon on the screen but the led surrounding the player doesn't glow in blue light. I left a night the player conneted to the plug but it didn't charged anything! Someone has some suggestion on how to solve this problem?

When my MBP is plugged into the wall (when I am near a plug, I usually have it plugged in) it will stop charging at 100% and drop slowly to 95% before auto-recharging to 100%.
Saves the circuits from charging all of the time.
I do run it on battery at least once a month down to 40%.

  • How to power/charge Ipod through USB?

I have tried plugging my Ipod into the USB port on my Pavilion dv7 but it does not charge.
I am using Windows 7 and have checked the basic power options in the control panel but I was unable to find anything related to power options on the USB ports.

Is the laptop running while you do this? Which version of the dv7 do you have? Not all laptops have an always on usb port and if yours does you usually have to select that option in the BIOS not in Windows.

  • Just a question about charging through USB. Should only take seconds to answ

    Hello everyone.
I have a Zen Micro 5Gb with MTP 2.20.05 Firmware.
How exactly do I charge it through USB? Do I have to lock it before I plug it in or not? Do I turn off the switch manually to save more power and what is the screen meant to look like while charging?
    Thanks.

When manually turning off the Zen Micro via the little switch, there is nothing on the screen. Does that mean it has compltely shut down? Same as the automatic dle shutdown?
It has gone to standby mode. In standby mode it's simply quicker to restart the player, and it will resume where you were last playing.
Also I heard something that happens after 4hrs?
With the ..0 and 2.20.05 firmware the standby period is 4 hours. After 4 hours the player completely shuts down and will take longer to start up, and restart from the beginning of the last track.
With earlier firmware the standby period is 24 hours, but this was causing a noticeable drain on the battery.

  • Charging through USB - load on PSU quest

I have never used anything which charges through USB before, and tbh, would not have bought the zen micro had I known it didnt come with an adaptor (i'm very suspicious of the whole charging through USB thing)
So I guess I want some reassurance. I have a 600w PSU, hooked up to a DFI lanParty UltraB, g Ram, 9800PRO gfx card (which has it's own molex connector from the PSU), audigy2, 2 internal HD's, 2 CD/DVD dri'ves and my case is a Lian Li fishtank, with UV spotlights, air pump, blue and UV cold cathodes and I use an air extractor to cool my gfx card.
So - is the Zen in any danger of overloading my PSU and frying my system? Other USB devices I have - Saitek Eclipse KB, Logitech G5 mouse, Wacom Graphire3, Iomega external powered harddisk and Griffin Powermate.
is it a risk or am I being paranoid?

plec: The USB standard allows for a 500mA current (small) to be supplied to any device using a USB port. The Micro or any player that charges via USB will only use that amount to charge as well as sharing with the data connection. You can dedicate all that 500mA to charging the player if you use the latest ..0 or 2.20.05 firmware, then slide the power button to lock the player before connecting to the PC.
Don't panic, it's not going to overload your PC as the current drain is USB standard and small.

  • HT4060 My I pad 2 is not charging throuh USB Power Adapter but it is chrging from computer through USB (with sign of no charging). Would  you please give any solution for that?

I have facing problem of charging my I pad through USB power adapter. It is not giving any response when connected to power adapter. When it is connected with USB port of computer it is charging with sign of "not charging" and it takes long time to cahrge. please help me to sove my problem.

I have no idea why the iPad would not be charging with another power adapter but will charge thought the USB port on your computer. Try rebooting the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up
If that doesn't help, I think that the next thing that I would try would be to reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. If you do this, all device settings will have to be re-entered and tha does take some time to do.

  • Charging N95 battery from USB computer cable conne...

I am on a business trip, and forgot my charger at home. Can I charge my Nokia N95 phone from the computer USB cell phone connection cable. I know that there is power in the USB port. This seems such a logical thing to do, especially considering the risk when updating the phone via the computer. I cannot believe that the phone cannot draw power from the USB connection, or charge in this manner. My son's ericksson has this ability. Please let me know how to charge my phone battery in this manner.

Losing market share? Nokia global market share has been growing for the last few years, and is now about ~40% of all phones made and sold in the world.
There are of course markets/regions where it hasn't gone so well, but I doubt that USB charging or lack thereof is the reason.
Also, many of the newer phones actuall have a microUSB charging connector.
And Nokia also has a separate USB charging cable for those phones with the small charger connector, but which can't charge using the USB data cable.

  • Charging Nano´s battery on USB 1.1

    Hello everyone,
I just got my 2GB nano about a week ago and I haven’t experience any problems so far.
For what I’ve read in this forum, it is recommended to charge the nano´s battery with an USB 2.0 port, however I’m sticking to my old G3 Imac that came with a USB 1.1
I have had no problem so far as mentioned before, and I haven’t really measure how much my battery lasts.
    My questions are:
1.- Is it right my nano isn’t getting fully charged because it was designed to be charged with a USB 2.0?
2.- Will the nano o the battery suffer any damage from charging it with a USB 1.1?
3.- Is it ok to connect the nano to the computer even if the battery is fully charged? I do so in order to transfer music to the ipod
any comments will be welcome... thanks
