Charging control of an ipod

I have several ipods and a few different speakers systems for them. Most of these accessories (and Macs) will automatically charge my ipods as soon as they are connected - which is nice - if you want it charged. Sometime I don't want my ipod charged, I just want to use the speakers.
I try to practice battery management which require one to periodically "cycle" the device. (charge it up to 100% and run it until battery is 0% or exhausted).
Does anyone know of an app or switch or something to create on/off charging control over a device.

There's no reason to turn off the battery charging. It won't hurt anything. The only reason you need to completely cycle the battery is to calibrate the charging indicator. It's not absolutely necessary.
If the manuals for the accessories don't give any instructions for turning off charging, then there is no way to do it.

Look the dock connector on your iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corred contacts, foreign material and cracked/broken plastic.
Try:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears..
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod

I just bought a 5G 30GB iPod to replace my 4G 40GB iPod that died about one month after the Apple Care ran out. (Funny how that happens, isn't it? The repair on the old one would have cost about $280, thus the decision to replace.) I see the new iPod comes with a USB 2.0 cable and a "dock adapter for use with Universal Dock." Can I use with my new 5G iPod the following items I received and used with my 4G iPod: (1) dock, (2) charger that plugs into the wall, (3) firewire cable that runs from the dock/charger to my iBook, and (4) USB cable that runs from the dock/charger to my iBook?

Assuming everything interfaces nicely (e.g. the 5th gen's connector matches the 4th gen's connector) then the answer to your questions are yes. You can charge a 5th generation iPod off of either USB or Firewire, but you can not sync your iPod with Firewire anymore, that feature was removed, but it will still charge off a Firewire connection.

The iPhone HAS to be active making calls on the UK carrier network for the carrier to identify as "theirs" and therefore eligible for the Carrier to unlock
The way to achieve this is to use a PAYG sim making and receiving calls to establish a customer relationship with the Carrier and then follow the Carrier's process to unlock
With a PAYG it usually means adding a specified (by the carrier ) amount usually £15 /£20 depending on the carrier

My son has an iPod touch and his home button doesn't work on it. Because the home button didn't work he had the touch button on his screen to navigate through things. Last night he was out, shut his wifi off because there wasn't any wifi to connect too, and was fooling around with his iPod. Somehow he enabled switch control on his iPod, then it shut down and now can't get into it because the touch home button has disappeared, wifi still isn't connected and home button doesn't work.
We tried rebooting it and wiping it remotely, but because there isn't wifi, we can't connect. Also, it's password protected and we can't get into it from the computer because of the switch control.
Please help if you can. He's had it for two years and is feeling pretty down today, it took him a long time to save up and buy it.

I'm hoping you'll be able to help me!
I have a Pioneer stereo system in my car which has an iPod adapter to which I connect my iPod and thus am able to play my iPod tunes through my car stereo.
Now, while to iPod is plugged into the accessory the iPod's manual function (I.e. I am not able to physically press the buttons on the iPod to change tracks) and the iPod can only be accessed through the cars stereo system.
So, my question to you is this;
Is there any way, any jailbreak, any tweak I can do to the iPod or the car stereo that will allow me to gain manual access over the iPod while plugged into the cars accessory?

Many receivers (like my JVC and Alpine receivers) have a "head mode" or "iPod mode" setting that can be selected for the iPod input. Head mode is receiver control while iPod mode lets you control from the iPod although the volume will still be set by the receiver. Check it out. The Pioneer might do the same thing.

There is no charge for using an iPod touch anywhere. You may be charged for WiFi connection, though, depending on the WiFi access point you wish to use. That would be completely up to whoever provides that WiFi connection.

I am pretty sure that it does not harm the ipod. I have been using my iphone charger on shuffles, nanos, touches, and ipads, kindles, and more ever sense the iphone came out and i have never had any issues with any of them. You should be fine using them.
