  • I have 51 apps that were indicated need for updating.  Clicked update all and now there is only a very slow progression thru the apps.  Why so slow?  Should apps be updated one at a time?

    I have 51 apps that needed updating.  I clicked update all and then they began to very slowly update.  Very slow. Is this usual?  Should I update one app at a time and do I really need to do all this updating all the time?  It's time consuming or am I doing something wrong?

    51 apps is a lot, it could take time.  It also depends on the local network and how busy it is.  Many users have complained today that they can access contacts, calendars, and/or email - maybe there are server problems right now (and today is the big Apple announcements, so things may be in flux).
    When I have a lot of apps to update, I do it using iTunes on my mac.

  • Green in viewer and very slow

    My first couple of days with FCP X. I have 2 x major problems - that maybe related.
    The first problem is that it feels like it is slowed down by background rendering but when i check the background tasks everything is idle.
    Second as I scroll or play from either event browser or timeline a blank green image appears in the viewer - suspect that this maybe causd by the slowness. it has now got to a point where I cannot continue as almost at a complete halt. I hav equit and restated FCP and also restarted the computer - I have replaced finalcut.plist from the user library.
    I am using an iMac 27" - Jauary 2010 - 16 Gb ram. Hard disk external WD firewire 800.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Many many thanks - It was not until I read your reply that I remembered that the footage I was using was from a corrupt Card, that was not recognised by FCP 7 (or iMovie for that matter) and it had been extracted (some months ago) by a converter to H264.
    I converted it via Streamclip, this morning, before importing it again into FCP X and all is well.
    All the same I had asked FCP X to optimize it on original import. BUT it may not have completed that, as FCP X told me there were background operations in progress when It quit it to do a reboot. Now that might mean that FCP X does not continue to optimize when it restarts - must check that out.
    You have saved my bacon. Thanks

  • MBP - Very dim green light and won't turn on

    I left my mbp running, and drained last week (overnight). after which, I tried using it, and it wont charge anymore (it shows a very dim green light only when connected to the charger) and it doesnt power on either.
    My brother opened it up, took out the battery and connected the charger, but same thing - just the faint green light. I also tried using the charger in my sisters macbook and it was working fine so i know its not the charger...
    Weeks prior to this, i noticed i had to wiggle the cord at times before it shows that its charging but i just ignored it.
    Could this be a port problem? My brother is considering a logic board failure as worst case scenario, but my mbp is just over a year old, and i dont understand why that would happen. I really took good care of my laptop.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    More than a port issue, I think it's related to the logic board. It looks like the charger is not detecting the battery, meaning that the battery connector is damaged, but the problem is that you can't turn on your Mac, so it means a logic board problem. Anyway, if it's a port problem, you will need the logic board replaced.
    It's a very expensive repair, but if your Mac is in warranty, you will get it repaired for free. Take it to an Apple Store or reseller to get your logic board replaced. You didn't lose anything from your hard disk

  • What makes the Magsafe charging light remain dim (VERY PALE GREEN)?

    It is mentioned in threads going back to 2006 so the Magsafe charge indicator clearly has a *PALE GREEN* state -- in addition to amber, (bright) green, and off. Does anybody know what that *PALE GREEN* is supposed to indicate?
    I can't get to an Apple Store so I need to MacGyver a short-term solution for this pale green light that comes with the following symptoms:
    The 2 month-old battery in my 2 year-old MBP stopped charging.
    The laptop runs off the battery as normal wen unplugged.
    When Magsafe is connected it runs off the adapter, but:
    -- battery life doesn't increase;
    -- the menu icon says "Calculating" (hour after hour);
    -- none of the 5 charging lights on the battery come on;
    -- the charging light on Magsafe remains a very dim green ... so pale, in fact, that I thought it was OFF until nightfall.
    I have followed all the advice found in the forum so far:
    -- reset the SMC and PRAM;
    -- cleaned the magsafe port and plug;
    -- tested the pin springs;
    -- unplugged the magsafe from the wall socket for 60 seconds;
    -- removed/reseated the battery;
    -- tested the socket with another appliance
    How can I get the (bright) lights back?

    Does anybody know what that PALE GREEN is supposed to indicate?
    It indicates a hardware problem of some sort. Most likely a bad power adapter. Less likely, but still possible, a bad left I/O board, and even less likely, but remotely possible, a bad logic board.
    Unfortunately, there's no "MacGyver-ish short-term solution", unless you can somehow build yourself a new AC adapter with paperclips and chewing gum. Barring that, you'll need to call AppleCare if you can't get to an Apple Store.
    Wish I had better news, but you did a great job of trying all the relevant troubleshooting steps.
    Hope this helps...

  • My iphone 4 ios 7 charge very slow .........if we charged whole night it only charged about 30 %

    my iphone 4 ios 7 charge very slow .........if we charged whole night it only charged about 30 %

    Do you have access to another cable to try that is known good to rule out a problem with the existing cable?
    If no change when using a known good cable, the iPhone has a hardware problem.

  • TS1367 My charger connects with my macbook with a very faint green light (not the normal orange light) and can maintain the computer turned on but does not charge the battery.

    My charger connects with my computer with a very faint green light (not the normal orange light) and can maintain the computer turned on but does not charge the battery. The power source to keep it on is the power adapter and that it's "Not charging" on the battery settings. And my charger seems to charge other computers fine.
    The part of my mac where the adapter (L-shaped, magnetic) attaches is a bit damaged - a small piece of the white case/body around the part where the adapter attaches is broken off, but that's just an outer damage.
    I don't know what's wrong with my computer, and if anyone has had a similar experience or knows what's going on, it'd be tremendously helpful!
    Thank you!!

    Hi Christopher,
    Doubtful an upgrade would fix a hardware issue. If you are thinking of upgarding to Lion, best to do all necessary maintenance first.
    Try Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

  • New shuffle will not fully charge. green light never comes on

    can leave my shuffle docked all day, never fully charges till the green light comes on. only amber light. its not my computer or usb cable or my settings as my sons nano charges just fine thru the usb. this shuffle is 5 days old.
    [Edited by host.]

    I agree with you sir....same problem with me....my 2nd shuffle is a week old.....I have never ever seen a steady green or an orange light even after 20 hours of continuous charging though an USB 2.0 port on a Win XP Pro desktop PC....All I see is a blinking orange....I have tried following the doc that was suggested to you....reseting it five times......nothing works......contacted apple chat support.....they ran me through the same steps.....does not work....trying a different port and a different computer does not help either....I go to the local apple-authorized dealer from where I bought the shuffle....they have look at me as if I just spoke some fluent Chinese!!...they have absolutely no idea of what I am talking about....they are very ignorant...I am extremely disappointed.....showing them the apple support pages drew the reaction "Oh my god...what are these pages all about...why do they even exist?"......I have done a better job at looking at a solution....but so far I have not been able to find a solution to this problem.......Can someone offer a solution!!!!!!!...........
    I am just waiting to discharge it completely and then check it for the last time before I take it back to the store....

  • IPod LED turning green after only 2 hours of charging

    I noticed that the status indicator on my iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen turns green after only 2 hours of charging. According to the manual, it should only turn green when the battery is fully charged. Should I be worried that something is wrong with my battery? BTW, the shuffle was fully drained when I started charging. And I was using a USB Power Adaptor to charge. Thanks.

    I have copied the following from my Shuffle Manual "Charging the Battery,
    iPod shuffle has an internal, rechargeable battery. For best results, charge the battery fully the first time you use iPod shuffle. A depleted battery can be 80-percent charged in about _*two hours*_ and fully charged in about four
    hours."
    A little farther down it has a section titled "Status Lights" in the very first picture it shows and says
    "Turning on or disconnecting, green - Good charge(30% – 100%)"
    So it would be in the "Good Charge(green light)" range after 2 hours.
    Hope this helps

  • Battery not charging, dim green light on Magsafe. Stuck at 37% battery life. Not sure the issue, so I need some help.

    Yesterday, my Magsafe power adapter/battery was working fine. I had  unplugged the machine last night to do some work, and I left it  unplugged all night. It held a good 90% charge over the night, and after  using it for a few hours I wanted to plug it back in. I noticed the  normally bright amber light on the Magsafe did not come on, but a faint  green light.
    The machine says "Battery is not charging", but no "Service Battery  Warning has shown up. I also attached an image of my results from  Coconut Battery, just not sure what the numbers mean.
    Any ideas?

    I reset the SMC, nothing changed, I took out the charger to clean, but there wasn't anything dirty.
    BUT as soon as I plugged the MagSafe out, the power percent jumped from 37% to 47%. Still not charging, I am very confused on how it charged??

  • Macbook Pro Mid-2010 15" is not charging with dim green light

    Hi all,
    I have spilled a bit of water on the keyboard of my Macbook Pro this Monday. It continued working just fine.
    So, I took it home, and 2h later, when I pluged the charger in, the light turned into a very faint/dim green light and it was not charging anymore. It does not consumes battery power, because it's plugged in the outlet, but it does not charge either (says "not charging").
    I have tried the following:
    Plugging it in to a different outlet
    Trying other MagSafe chargers
    Making sure it's the correct charger (85w)
    Resetting SMC
    Resetting NVRAM
    I have opened the back, and although I could not dismount it anymore because the lack of appropriate screwdrivers, I could find no sign of humidity or water damage.
    Checking the system information page in the MacOS, I could notice that, when the charger is plugged, amperage information gradually progresses from ~ -2000 to 0.
    And it does not seem to recognize the charger. See below:
    AC Charger Information:
    Connected:     Yes
    ID:     0x0000
    Wattage (W):     0
    Revision:     0x0000
    Family:     0x0000
    Serial Number:     0x00000000
    Charging:     No
    Do you guys have any other suggestions?

    If you are lucky, the power adapter is faulty.  I suspect that there are problems inside the MBP.  I still advocate a trip to an Apple store genius bar.  Your MBP has a hardware issue and they (Apple) can diagnose it and tell you exactly what will be required to repair it.
    Ciao.

  • Is anyone having trouble with recharging battery on ipad4? It does charge but is very slow

    I have a new iPad and it seems to be very slow in charging the battery eg 1 hour for 10% of charge.
    Is anyone else experiencing this problem or am I doing something wrong?

    The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
    Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
    How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
    At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • 2011 Macbook Pro 13, green light on magsafe, but not charging, not powering on

    Hi there, I have a Macbook Pro 13 early 2011 i5, and it's stoped working, when it's on the charger the green light comes on, when i pres battery indicator on the side of mbp there is only one green light flashing. when i press power button nothing hapends, mbp wont turn on, i have tried to do the reset, did not helped. Maby someone had, the same problem and knows how to fix it, or knows if its completle dead, and not worth to fix. Thanks

    Take the machine to an Apple Store or an AASP and have them run diagnostics on it. They will give you a quote on how much it would cost to fix your machine. Then you can decide if it's worth repairing or if its just time to replace it.
    I'm assuming that you didn't buy the extended AppleCare warranty? Too bad - if you had the machine would likely be repaired free of charge...
