Charging Ipad 3 Questions ? :?

Hi i just got my 1st iPad 3 Yesturday. Is it better to charge your Ipad when it is witched off or when it is asleep, does it make a difference? An when charging it while it is switched off how will I know when it is fully charged I dont see any meter on d screen, do I hav to switch it on each time to monitor the charge level?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Charging iPad One vs iPad 3rd gen via USB...

just got an iPad 3rd gen.  As I've read here, apparently, the PC's USB port doesn't supply enough power to make the 3rd gen battery charging icon say "charging".  Instead, it reads "not charging".  However, it initially DOES say 'charging', before changing to 'not charging' a couple of minutes later.
Question:  my iPad 1st gen ALWAYS charges via PC USB port.  Why?  Both AC chargers are 10 watts I believe, so why would the 1st gen charge while the third gen doesn't?  Does the 3rd gen require more charging watts than the 1st gen unit does?

Using the 10W charger, an iPad 1 will charge in about 3-4 hours, however, the iPad 3 requires about double the time. How long does it take to charge your iPad 1 using the PC's USB port?
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.

  • Charge iPad suddenly resets during use. Why would this be?

It does this often and is so frustrating. Thanks!

You're initial question and description are a little confusing so to would help if you would actually explain what is going on.
"Charge iPad suddenly resets during use", does not make any sense to me anyway. So without knowing exactly what that means, why it does it is really difficult to answer. Maybe it's just a typo on your part, but it needs a little clarification.

  • Charging iPad through the computer

    Hi there-
I ahve a question, is there a way to have my iPad charge while it is connected to my laptop ???
When I hook it up, it says "not charging" in the upper right corner where the battery icon is located, what can I do about that ???
    thanks-Doug

Most USP ports on computers are too low in power to charge iPad.  That's why yo usee the "not charging" sign.  It is actually charging, but VERY slowly.  This is why your iPad came with a 10W Charging cable and is really the only efficient way to charge your iPad.

Not the ideal way... and may take forever...

  • Best way to charge iPad mini

What is the best way to charge my iPad mini ? When I play Internet games at the same time using FaceTime my battery drain fast is it normal ?

The mini came with a 5W charger. If you are going to use the mini like you described, suggest you get a 12W charger like that for the iPad 3 & 4. The 12W charger should maintain your battery charge level.

  • Charging iPad 3

Is it necessary to keep brick attached to plug when charging ipad 3 or can I just plug in the detachable part? If so, why does it come with a big brick?

Unless you have USB ports for wall outlets in your house, you will very much need the big brick.
Also plugging it into a computer USB port will in most circumstances not provide enough power to charge the iPad either.
So yes you need the brick.
The 5W charger will not correctly charge the iPad 3 , as it requires more power than it can provide..

    iTunes, for now
    2) no usb or card reader? you have to have an attachment through the Dock connector?
Yes - there will be an accessory available for SD cards.
    3) Can it read pdf files?
Yes since it runs iPhone OS
    4) no flash? can the mac's safari do flash?
No flash in iPhone OS Safari, but Mac OS X Safari has it.
    5) Can you develop apps on the iPad?
Unknown, but there is an iPad SDK for use on a Mac.
    6) anyone know when you can actually see one in the store? not buy but see one.
Near the end of March for WiFi versions and end of April for 3G versions in U.S.

while charging ipad, not enough storage message appeared. Now ipad is locked and is unresponsive. How can I unlock ipad?

Not enough storage space. Do you backup to icloud? When you plug your ipad into charge it backs up to icloud. Your out of icloud storage. Could be the reason.
Locked....hmm... Did you try a reboot? Hold the home and power button(same time) till the screen goes black and apple logo appears. Ignore red sliders.

  • Charging ipad mini issue. Urgent help needed.

Please help me. Past 2 days, I notice my ipad took longer time to fully charge. Normally, it just take around 3-3.5 hours, but now it take 8 hours to complete. What is the problem, was it my ipad, or my charger adapter issue.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Is it safe to charge ipad in Europe on converter

Is it safe to charge an ipad in Europe on a converter?

You don't need a converter to charge iPad in Europe.  It is able to charge on either 220 or 110.  What you do need however, is a plug converter, which would let you plug your iPad power charger into a plug in Europe.

    Hi, loverofmusicals.
Some USB 2.0 ports and accessories do not provide enough power to charge iPad. When this occurs the message "Not Charging" appears in the status bar next to the battery icon.  I would recommend connecting the device to the included wall charger and testing to see if the message ceases.

  • Charging iPad with Airport Express extension power cable?

I have the discontinued Monster Airport Express Stereo Connection Kit, it comes with 3 cables, one of which is an Airport Express extension power cable, I want to know if I can use this power cable to charge my new iPad. I have asked Apple staff who didn't know as they no longer stock the cables. The power cord has a UK wall plug on one end and a 2 pin connector on the other, made to slot into the airport express unit it the same fashion as the iPad power cable slots into the iPad power block. I understand the iPad needs 10w power charging. Does anybody know if this will be safe to use? Many thanks...
