Charging iTouch with iPod Mini charger

Can my new iTouch be charged with my old iPod mini chargers? I have one USB and one Firewire cable. Thanks.

If you haven't seen this other post, it might answer your question. Basically the answer seems to be to keep your iPod Touch charged through a USB charger no matter what form, but not a Firewire charger. I'm still not sure about this myself, though, so if someone has a better answer about charging an iPod Touch with a Firewire wall charger, that would be helpful. Thanks.

  • Charging iPhone with iPod car charger/FM Transmitter - Damage battery?

I used a new ipod car charger/FM transmitter to charge my old original model iphone and got a message popping up that the device isn't made to charge the iphone but it would charge so I left it in. Ever since then, my battery seems to be dying much, much faster than normal. Could I have damaged the battery?

Possible that the circuitry or output levels of the charger was not an exact match to the desired voltage or resistance of the 30 PIN connector and thus caused an issue with the battery...but it's not very likely that this alone caused your battery to all of a sudden not hold a charge...

  • Charge & Sync with iPod 3G Charger?

    Hi,
I was wondering if I can charge the iPad with my old (3rd Generation?) iPod charger. It's the one for PC that has a split cable with the iPod connector on one side and firewire (to AC adapter) and USB (to computer) on the other sides.
Can I use this to both charge and connect to my PC? It has the same iPod connector (it fits, anyway), but I wanted to make sure nothing has changed since 3G iPods...I don't want to blow anything up!
    Thanks,
    Brad

The iPod and iPhone chargers have half the current rating of the iPad charger, though some older ones look physically the same size. So even if they will charge the iPad, they will do more slowly -- especially if the iPad is in use.
I've pretty much replaced all my chargers with iPad chargers, which will charge any usb-charged device I own.

  • Can I use Ipod mini charger for Ipod Video?

Is it safe to use the USB charger supplied with IPOD Mini to charge my new 30GB Ipod video ?

    absolutely.

  • Where can I buy a charger for an ipod mini 1st generation

Where can I buy a charger for an ipod mini 1st generation

I believe that is a 4th gen iPod.  When you say "charger," do you mean the USB docking cable?  Or do mean a USB power adapter that you connect to a wall outlet to charge the iPod?
If it's the docking cable, it's the standard USB docking cable
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA591G/C/apple-30-pin-to-usb-cable
If you happen to have a Mac with a FireWire port, the 4th gen iPod actually ALSO works (better) over a FireWire connection.  But you'll have to look for an old FireWire docking cable on eBay (or other online source).
If you are asking about a USB power adapter, this is the lowest power version from Apple, and it works with the 4th gen iPod.

  • Ipod mini charger for 30GB Video?

I had my ipod mini for a long time, then decided to get the 30gb video. But I noticed that the video only comes with the USB cable and I can only charge it when its plugged into a computer.
Would I be able to take my charger for the Ipod mini(the one that has the firewire outlet that plugs into the charger) on my 30gb Ipod video? Would it create any problems with the battery?

Nice nice. Thanks for the help
So just to make things perfectly clear.
USB wire that came with the ipod = Updates + charges.
and the firewire charger block thingy = charges when plugged into a wall socket.
    thank you

    Try the not-charging topic of:

Also, look at the dock connector. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts. foreign material and cracked or broken plastic.
    I suspect a hardware problem.

  • Using the  apple remote  with  ipod  mini

is it possible to use the apple remote with ipod mini dock
    advent 1318   Windows XP   n/a

Would the apple remote and universal dock allow remote adjustment of the volume level when using and iPod mini? I know the nano and 5g support this feature but am unsure for the mini as my old 3g ipod only gave 'line out' via the dock.

  • Can I charge a new iPod Nano 8 GB with a iPod Mini charger?

I gave my wife an iPod Nano (black, 8 GB) for christmas. After christmas we discovered, that there is no charger, it only charges when you connect it to a computer.
Unfortunately that is not how she uses her iPod. She doesn't use a computer. I pour her favorite music into the iPod, and that's it. 8 GB is more than adequate - she doesn't update the iPod frequently. Her last iPod (a Mini) had the same music for more than a year and a half - untill she lost it.
So ... I guess I could buy a charger for her. Og bring my Powerbbok home every night just to charge her iPod.
But we have the charger from her lost iPod Mini. Does any of you know, if we can use that? The charger has a firewire plug and the cable is firewire in one end and the other end fits perfectly in the Nano. However, I am afraid to fry the Nano.
    The charger says 12V .67A
The print on the iPod Nano reads 5-30V 1A Max.
    Kind regards,
    Peter

Yes, you can use the charger (and cable) that came with the mini to charge the nano.
    Cheers!

  • Charging iPod nano (2nd gen) with iPod mini adaptor

    Hey
I just bought my iPod nano 2nd gen, and I realized that there is no wall charger for it. Therefore I am wondering, if I can use the wallcharger for my old iPod mini?
I that cannot be done, I would like some alternatives, since I would like to bring my iPod on vacation, and therefore I need more than 24 hours of battery life.
    Best regards
    Niels Christian

" I am wondering, if I can use the wallcharger for my old iPod mini?"
    Yes.

  • Frozen charging icon on Ipod mini - help!

I've got an early-ish IPOD MINI, about a year old now, worked ok at first although battery life was never better than about 4 hours. First problem - after about 6 months or so - once turned off, would not turn on again without reset. However I lived with that. more recently, battery life now down to about 2 hours and I cannot download any new music onto the mini from Itunes. I can charge ipod up from wall charger direct Ok , but even when battery shows as fully charged, as soon as I connect up to computer via firewire, it starts to charge up and then the charging thunderbolt icon freezes ... from troubleshooting section, this appears to mean battery is too low for computer to 'talk' to the IPod. Although I have followed advice & left it connected (for Hours) this doesn't help.
So _ i reckon battery is duff - sent it back to apple for repair within warranty period - but after three weeks they sent back standard letter - in FRENCH! - refusing a repair on grounds fault was down to my mis-use.this is possible as I have dropped it a few times - but also could be convenient excuse ..
Lousy service, no indication of whether it could be repaired or not if I paid so can anyone tell me, is my only option now to buy a new one?
If so I think my husband will probably divorce me on the grounds of insanity (ie i must need my head testing to spend more money on such an unreliable product) but i really love my ipod - don't want another type mp3 player.
Has anyone any useful suggestions please??

many thanks, might give them a try. Had a look at their website and seems to be £5.00 charge for diagnostic if turns out to be uneconomic to repair - which isn't too bad. Has anybody got any feedback from using these people for repairs - can't be worse than Apple!

  • Charging iPhone with iPod charger

I have an AC adapter/charger that came with my iPod mini a couple years ago. Can I use this to charge the iPhone? It charges my iPod mini, nano, and 5G ipod without any trouble. Conversely, can I use the charger that came with the iphone to charge other iPods?
    Any help is appreciated.

Although they are 30 pin connectors, they are not using the same pins for the same features. I read that the iphone will work on a Bose Sounddock so I plugged it into an older ipod 30 pin dock hooked up to speakers through the line out and it would not play the music through my speakers. If I used the iPhone dock it worked just fine. My conclusion is that at some point (When Video iPods came out I think) Apple switched the functions of some of the pins in the 30 pin connector. I don't know why it charges slow, but I do know that since they are 30 pin connectors we should not assume they will work the same for an ipod and iphone.

  • My iPod won't charge on a wall charger, only on the computer. I used the same cord for both though. I used to be able to charge it with a wall charger, but now suddenly I can't. I've even used other wall pieces. Nothing seems to work.

My iPod will no longer charge with a wall charger, only the computer. I know it's not becuase of the wall piece or my cord, since I also use the same cord for computer charging, and the wall piece seems to work with others devices. It worked a couple of weeks ago, then suddenly quit. I think it may be something to do with the inside of my iPod where the charger goes. I find it really inconvient to always have to use the computer to charge my iPod. I believe I have a three year warrenty on my iPod, but I wouldn't think it would cover this problem. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery
    - Try another cable.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Bring the wall charger

If you have a three-year warrany it is not from Apple. The standare Apple warrantyis 1 year and y can purchas an extended warranty that give y a total of two years. You can check your Apple warranty coverage hee:

  • Is the 12W charger compatible with ipad mini? will it damage my ipad or the battery?

the 5v charger which came with the ipad mini is charging too slow...
am just wondering if the 12w charger can be used to charge my ipad mini?
will it damage the ipad mini itself or the battery?

The 12W charger from Apple will in fact charge the Mini just fine. There is no issue with using that charger. It supports amongst other things the iPad mini as per the compatibility list here:
