Charging lumia 920

which charger is better for nokia Lumia 920, wireless or wired and why??

im my experience, it really doesnt matter which one as they are the same speed for me.
but for convenience, i prefer the wireless pad. so much so that i installed one in my audi to use while i drive under the console!

  • Can't charge Lumia 920 via usb in car

I can't charge my Lumia 920 via usb in the car. There is nothing wrong with the cable, and I've also tried several other cables. There is nothing wrong with the car either, because it works fine on my boyfriends phone (Samsung Galaxy). It also works on my old HTC Desire.
And it also works to charge my Lumia 920 via usb on my laptop, so there's nothing wrong with my phone either.
    Any suggestions??

As not a Nokia accessory it could not be recommended in case of warranty issues, but if Lumia 920 running Drive draws more current than 750mA that CR-200 supplies http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/phones/phone/cr-200/specifications/ then use of an iPad car charger in accessory socket delivering 2.1 Amp should manage to net charge device battery whilst it is consuming >1 Amp in Drive mode.

  • Lumia 920 doesn't charge

I bought my lumia 920 yesterday and while it charges in my car with an USB charging adapter it doesn't so with the delivered ac charger! The curios thing is, my old lumia 900 gets charged with the same one... What can i do?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Peterp1980,
I tried the charger that came with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, the original one. I know that the 920 charges using the AC-16 charger provided in the box, and that is a 1A. For me, perhaps 2.1A is too much current to charge the phone with, so that would explain its incompatibility.
The 920 doesn't exactly have full support for USB mass storage (unless I'm missing something here....as far as I've seen it only really connects in Media Transfer Protocol Mode), so I have been unable to charge mine through my car stereo's USB port (500mA) like I was able to for my Nokia N8.
Due to the high current of your car charger, and also what I have described with its USB support, knowing which car chargers and third-party chargers will work with the 920, will be a matter of trial and error and user reporting.

  • Nokia lumia 920 slow charging

    Hi,
I bought a new micro usb cable to have as a spare to charge my lumia 920 but have found that any micro USB cable that I use apart from the one that came with the phone will take forever to charge. The original cable when plugged into the mains will charge the battery from 10% to 100% in under 3 hours, any other cable can take up to 12 hours.
I have a battery app installed that tells me the % of charge per hour. The original charger gives me about 38% an hour while my other cables only manage 8% an hour.
anybody else experience these problems while using other cables?

    Hello, all!
Slow charging is good to preserve the baterry. If you must recharge the battery fast, use the Nokia´s recharger, but if you leave the cell recharging the entire night, use de slowest as possible recharging mode. It´ll recharge the entire battery anyway and will preserve it for more and more future recharging.
Other tip: use the battery to the extreme end, until the GOODBAY message and recharge it for more 30 minutes, after the full bettery icon on display. It´ll preserve the baterry´s life for much more time and rechargings.
    Thanks.
    Peter

  • My Lumia 920 died - does not boot or charge

    Hi,
Yesterday my Lumia 920 suddenly turned off, and refuses to boot - no lifesigns at all. I have attempted to charge the phone (no charging sound) and tried to reset the phone, but it remains dead.
I previously had some problems with occasional reboots, and though it was related to some problems with Windows Phone 8 - however last Sundays it rebooted 3 times...
Anyone else have the same problems? Is there something I can attempt to do?
Spending the Christmas and new year without a phone sucks.

Presumably you have accessed this resource "How do I reset my nokia Lumia if it doesn't work properly":http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/support/product/lumia920/troubleshooting/
Unfortunately as this is a manufacturer's sponsored due to warranty considerations there are limits as to what can be discussed, other than referring you to Nokia Care facility.

I used tonight my friend Lumia 920 charger (EU ver) to charge my Lumia 925 for a little bit, is this safe for my 925 ?

  • Lumia 920 wireless charging not working after phon...

    Long story short
Coulnd't hear anyone speaking on the phone if volume was turned up over 6 as internal earpiece distorts too badly (there is something loose inside the Lumia 920)
Got the phone back from Nokia care point in Cheltenham UK, earpiece fault not fixed.
Took it home, put it on the wireless charger - it now does not charge whereas it did perfectly before the trip to get 'fixed'
Nokia careport say 'Nothing to do with us, we'll have to send it back to Finland, which will take 3 weeks and you can't have a spare phone'
As a result, my confidence in Nokia is fading fast, won't be giving them any more chances to build a decent phone when this contract ends.

Sounds like the care point has broken it and are refusing to accept responsibility for their actions. Care points are independent and not directly run by Nokia.
I suggest you submit a complaint to Nokia UK on this link:

  • Lumia 920 Wireless Charging not working - Known is...

I have a Nokia Lumia 920, which works perfectly fine. I haven't had some of the other issues reported here with freezing, apps, etc.
I have a Nokia charging plate and I've found that no matter what I do the wireless charging plate absolutely does not work. I've turned off Bluetooth, Wifi, turned ON Battery Saver, disabled every background app, even hard reset my phone and tried charging it from stock. The wireless charging plate doesn't even maintain the current battery state - The battery slowly drains hour by hour. I've also tried placing the phone on the charging plate in different positions to ensure it's making good contact. Nothing works.
Is this a known issue? Is there anyway to identify a defective phone? Is there a possible fix for this? I love my Lumia, but this a killer feature I would expect to work consistently.

OK, this thread is odd. My charging plate works fine. It has a side with a little ring and Nokia in it, and the other side has an oval of rubber around the periphery with the usual conformance writing on it that side Qi, CE, don't throw it on the trash icon,  Mine works just fine with the Oval down, and the Nokia in the ring up. Is that not what others see?
I can turn it over, but it is touchy as to whether I can get the light to come on. Usually not. I assumed, initially, the oval went down to keep it from sliding around on the table, and Nokia went up because they want you to know it's Nokia. Has always worked that way. I wish there was a larger rubber something on the 'top' as the phone can slide and spin more than I think it should.
For what it is worth, I much prefer the charge stand, but the plate is more convenient if I am going to travel somewhere for a while. Couple of days, just charger, week or so, might bring the plate for the hotel.
BTW, I do get the connect noise when putting it on the charge plate. Sometimes it can take a second otr two. When I take it off, it can take several seconds to get the disconnect noise and the charging icon to go away. If I put it back on the charger before the disconnect noise and the charge icon goes away, it does NOT make a connect noise, though the light comes on. The light will also eventually go off at full charge.

  • Wireless Charger for Lumia 920

    Dear Nokia Team,
As a owner of Lumia 920(bought in Jan 2013) , Will there be a Wireless charging plate issued to Lumia 920 users in India for Free.
As i can see it is been issued across to other countries for free. Why not for India.
    Please advise ASAP.

  • Lumia 920 Wireless Charging Plate...where do i get...

    Hi,
Just traded my iPhone 5 (Had every single iPhone since the Original) for the Nokia Lumia 920.
I got it from Best Buy and I must say Im really impressed with the Lumia 920.
Still learning the features on my new phone but im liking it so far.
My question is where do i sign up to get the free Wireless charger?

I believe the free wireless charger was only available from some network carriers only and not universally across the U.S. or other countries and territories. If you are unable to find a retailer of the charging plates, you can click the Nokia Support link at the bottom of this page to chat online with a Nokia representative directly, who will be able to point you in the right direction.

  • Nokia Lumia 920 India Launch ! - Some Observations...

    Hi,
Being a Nokia fan for years .. I decided to write this .. I hope people at the right level from Nokia see this.
We all know Nokia Lumia 920 has probably hit all the right spots with Users abroad and the best thing is they are loving it a lot. I probably would like to be one of them soon.
    However I have certain concerns,
When Nokia launced Lumia in India people had high hopes including myself however one thing that I have always found going wrong is the 'PRICING' .. yes such insanely high pricing at launch .. why ? Look at the pricing of Lumia 800 at launch (around 33k) . Look at the pricing of Lumia 900 still (31k) ? .. Lumia 800 now sells around at the price of 19k !! - almost a 40% drop in price.
The basic thinking in the minds of people including me is 'Don't buy a Nokia phone immediately on launch !!'. Why can't this be changed ? - Yes everybody wants to earn profits but in a situation wherein you are more in search for Mindshare .. This does not make sense. Obviously I am no one to teach anybody anything but this is what I feel & what I have felt for years.
If I buy a Nokia Lumia 920 at launch only to find that after 3 months the pricing has come down by 3-5k .. I will not be a Happy Consumer.
Nokia - Launch Lumia 920 at a very competitive price (so that the likes of SGS3 & HTC 8x will feel ashamed) .. Arrive at a price & keep it steady for real long so that the initial adopters are happy & others come to know that Nokia's pricing is real good and will stay that way for long.
Nokia's Lumia are pretty good phones .. they never lag when compared to Android etc however they have not been well received by people here in India. The most common answer that I get is 'Bluetooth not there - can't transfer files' , 'Can't use memory card ' & 'Apps not available'.
Nokia - you have to change this mindset of people because with Windows Phone 8 these things are no longer hindrances ! .. especially Bluetooth & Micro-sd support.
I am expecting your Ads to have this .. be it on Radio or TV or Internet.
Can we have right people on the Job ? - Recently I went to Hypercity Mall (in Mumbai) (Nokia booth). I took in my hand a Lumia 510. I asked how much RAM ? .. to my surprise he answered 512 Mb .. and I was like What ? I asked him to recheck - still the same answer. He said we have confirmed. The phone actually comes with 256 Mb of RAM.
Now imagine what happens to a consumer who brought this phone from him ?
Nokia - Please get the right people at task for Nokia Lumia 920 & 820 because there you have got some real innovations like PureView, OIS, Wireless Charging etc. Ensure that users get the right demo of all the innovations. First impression will be the Last impression.
At Malls (without Nokia booths), the 2 phones Lumia 800 & Lumia 710 lonely guard the booths .. with rarely anybody there to explain about them. Just on the side of it I find Samsung's booth with all the latest flagships standing there & probably someone to explain about it - however Android needs no explanation these days will all aware about it (& even if not aware they know a phone with it is Cool!).
Nokia - Please set your own booths for Lumia (both WP8 & WP7) & assign one of your Guys per Booth. I really don't know the dynamics of setting up booth at a mall & the financial impact of it. All you need to do is differentiate your Lumia's from others.
Alternatively you can have a Lumia Van (or Lumia Vans) running around the City with all the possible Lumia's on it for doing Demo's. All Lumia's - since a person can come up to check a Lumia 510 too & not having a specific Lumia means Dissatisfaction for the user.
Nokia Lumia 920,820 & 620 are gem of a phones .. Hope everything is done right with them in a price sensitive market like India & I hope that Nokia you are listening to a User's opinion here.
Here's someone who wishes real good things for Nokia. Good luck with the launch of Nokia Lumia 920, 820 & 620. Desperately waiting !!

    Hi slon!
    Welcome to Nokia Forum!
Let me answer your question in the same manner you have presented it.
    1. How can I configure networking option for individual application (it was standard option before, see N8)
    - Can you tell me which particular application/s you are referring to? The phone prioritizes WLAN connection over 3G to ensure quality customer experience.
Example: Nokia Maps - when downloading map data, it would require you to use WLAN as phone would require high amount of data.
    2. Where can I find the option like: Automatic, Always ask, WLAN only when using access to data connection
    - These options are not available on the device. However, you can find some settings that are similar to what you are looking for:
Settings>Wifi>Tap on Advanced> you will have the following options:
Notify me when new networks are found
    Automatically connect to Wi-Fi hotspots
Send information about Wi-Fi connections to help discover nearby Wi-Fi
Keep Wi-Fi on when the screen times out

  • Error code 8103010d appear on my lumia 920!!

so happy to get this handset!!! but there are few problems with it!!
can someone help me out plz!!
1st the battery life is so short! i got only 13 hours when i have 100% barttery
2nd is the internet sharing doesnot work!! my iphone 4 can connect the wifi from lumia 920, but it could not use the internet.
3rd, i have a upgrde for the network+, but i got a error code 8103010d when i download it on half way!
i hope the hardware is fine, all of it are bugs!!
the phone is under EE 4G in the UK

Battery life on my 12 day old 920 has stabilised at around two days usage between charges. I have Bluetooth and 3G switched off and only activate them when needed.
Wi-Fi tethering works fine on mine but you may have noticed that Wi-Fi is automatically disconnected when the screen times out and is locked so your iPhone won't be able to share the connection until the screen is woken back up again.
    Ray.

  • Discovered cause of Battery Drain lumia 920/820

    Hi,
I just registered to tell you following:
I discovered the culprit that is responsible for the "semi random" battery drain.
@Home my Lumia 820 "shines" with a good battery life.
    @Work:
    - without any additional Installed app
    - no active background task (except standard entries: "extras+info" and Nokia Music)
    - every (backround)sync disabled (mail, also xbox, music.....)
    - display low
    - disabled location service
    - closing all apps with multiple clicks on back-button
    - uninstalled skype
    - disabled apps @ lockscreen
    - battery saver on
    - backup disabled
    - nfc disabled
    - microsoft account sync only 1x per day
    - disabled roaming (my provider is a roaming monster :-) roams into networks of other providers).
    - 2x fully discharged + fully charged + 12 hours on powersupply
    - and every other suggested energysave option/action i could find on internet and here in forum -> except hardreset
With all above mentioned methods the battery still gets/got literally eaten away at work in IDLE.
I had it next to me with monitor off. Only checked once per hour and it died in ~8-11 hours. No call no message no nothing.
I was curious why it only happens at work: The difference of the network coverage is, that at home it is far more inferior. I have to search for a spot in my house where i can use it for calling somebody.
So Internet is not even an option (also no HSPA+ coverage throughout the village). Normally you would have less battery life at places with less connectivity. But not in that case.
I investigated further: on the way to work I use it for surfing ~50min - 1hour -> there i loose 7-9% of my battery. (very good result for driving with car => many connection losses)
As soon as I reach the city where the Lumia reaches the HSPA+ network it begins to drain veery fast.
HSPA+ needs much more power than UMTS and I guess normal HSPA!
I compared the behaviour with the Samsung Galaxy S3 (colleague's phone) and noticed a small but profound difference:
After you "wake" the S3 from idle it will show on the screen, that it uses UMTS and not HSPA/HSPA+... as soon as you start surfing or start an app that connects to the internet the S3 switches immediately to HSPA+. After a little time the Samsung switches back to UMTS.
The lumia behaves differently: It detects HSPA+ and uses it. Also in idle!?
I followed this obvious lead and wanted to disable HSPA/HSPA+ -> unfortunately it only lets you disable 3g as a whole (UMTS/HSPA) so I switched to 2G only.
While I am writing this my L820 is unplugged 6hours now and
after much heavier use than normal (mailing, surfing with 3g while driving 45min home [which dropped the charging-level multiple times faster than gaming!], 1h gaming, 10 minutes calling)
the remaining battery life is at 70% with estimated time remaining: 1day 7hours left (after writing the whole story it went up to 2days 4hours with 69%... but i guess thats because its idleing).
This behaviour is also the explanation why some people are affected and some aren't.
Summary of change: from initially 8hours idle and not even touching the phone -> to finally using it now with 70% after 6hours with 1day 7hours time remaining.
Additional info: I live in Austria (Europe; no kangaroos ;-)) --> so I have a Lumia 820 with the german firmware without the update, which was released in USA and Canada:
    Revision: 1232.2109.1242.1001
So please implement a similar function like the Samsung S3 ... or just as a start: let us manually turn off UMTS, HSPA and HSPA+ separately! Surfing with 2g is no fun.
Sorry for the extensive and long story/facts ;-)
    Regards
    V4mp

I can confirm that my battery drain problem is related to LTE  on my US Lumia 920, at home where signal is weak I get fantastic battery life, less than 2% drain an hour, lasts for well over a day with moderate usage. My work however is located in an LTE zone and as soon as I enter this area battery life becomes catastrophically bad, several times the phone has died on me before my shift even ends. Something like 15% drain per hour, sometimes worse., I pick up my phone and even though it has been completely idle for hours it is a bit warm to the touch. I have no idea what it is doing when it is just sitting there.
Trust me, I have tried all the tips from all the other users, none have worked. This is not a problem with background applications or some feature being switched on, I have tested this phone running bare bones no apps or a fully day on "battery saver" mode which seems to make no difference, the problem persists. The only way I can make it through the workday is if I put my phone into Airplane Mode, the drain then completely stops, again at less than 2% an hour.
I am amazingly frustrated by all this, my Lumia 900 never had this problem with LTE, I almost never gave the battery a second thought with my 900, but with the 920 I am constantly worried about being stuck with a dead phone, I have almost no apps installed on the phone because I am afraid of any additional drain on the battery. I have to put my phone in Airplane Mode if I plan on spending more than an hour in the civilized world, I am so unhappy with my experience and I really miss my Lumia 900. I really wish Nokia would acknowledge that this a problem with some 920 handsets, and it is a problem, we are all not suffering from some sort of mass delusion. I have spent weeks troubleshooting and trying to find the cause. I really don't know what to do at this point.

  • Streaming From Lumia 920 to TV

Hi All. I haven't posted anything here for quite a while which is a reflection of just how delighted I am with my Nokia Lumia 800 and now 920. Thank you Nokia and Microsoft!
My 920 is SUCH a step up from the 800! I'm going to hang on to the 800 as a spare should the 920 need servicing but, as of yet, there's absolutely no sign of any problems with either phone or their accessories - the wireless car charger being my favourite.
This post is to ask about streaming from the Lumia 920 to my television. I often use my 920 to browse the web etc whilst sitting in front of the TV when I can't be bothered to get up and wander around the house looking for my laptop. Is there a device I can plug into my Sony TV so that I can stream data to it from my Lumia 920? I would like to be able to use my TV to get a much larger image of whatever happens to be on my Lumia 920 screen.
I'm not sure where on the forum to post this so apologies in advance if I've got it wrong.
    Colin

Unfortunate the 920 does not have a TV out facility. It is however possible to stream media wirelessly from your phone to any tv linked to your home network using an app called PlayTo.
