Charging MacBook Air with older power adapter.

I have just bought MacBook Air. I still own the MacBook Pro 15' dated 2006. Can I use MacBook Pro's power adapter to charge safely MacBook Air?

Power adapters for Intel-based Apple portables are available in 45W, 60W, and 85W varieties. Although you should always use the proper wattage adapter for your Apple portable, you can use an adapter of a higher wattage without issue.
For instance If you have a MacBook (13-inch Late 2009) that normally uses a 60W adapter, you can also use an 85W adapter with that computer. You would not use a 45W adapter with that computer; it would not provide enough power for that MacBook. Using an adapter of higher wattage than the adapter that came with the computer will not cause the computer to charge more quickly or otherwise operate any differently than using the adapter that came with the computer.

  • Charge an X220 with the power adapter of a T530?

I have an X220 (which is, hands-down, the best laptop I've ever owned). My wife recently bought a T530 for herself. The power adapters appear to be roughly the same, though the T530 has a significantly larger brick. Are the two adapters compatible, or if I find myself running low on power with only her adapter available would it fry my machine?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

you can use a 65, 90 and 135 watts adapter with the X220. The T530 you got have a 90 watts adapter. The adapter is designed to only supply the current (voltage is fixed) and therefore the power only as needed by the machine. It is not constantly supplying 65, 90 or 135 watts, these are the rated maximum power.

  • Macbook Air - Mega Sage Power Adapter is warming

    I need Help

Here's a statement from an apple article:
The power adapter may become very warm during normal use. Always put the power adapter directly into a power outlet or place it on the floor in a well-ventilated location. If you are using your MagSafe adapter in a poorly ventilated area, or if the MagSafe adapter is covered by a blanket or other form of insulation, it may turn itself off in order to prevent damage to the adapter.

  • Can I connect most any DVI Monitor to a MacBook Air with the right adapter

Anybody have any luck doing this?

It should work if they are LCD, not CRT displays.  You will get the same picture on both displays.  If you need different pictures on each screen look at the Matrox DualHead2Go Digital Edition.

Can I use a power cord from a Macbook air with a Macbook?

No, the MacBook Air power adapter is a 45 watt. A MacBook needs at least a 60 watt power adapter although you can use a MacBook Pro 85 watt adapter. You can use a higher wattage adapter without any problems.

  • Using my macbook pro whole day with the power adapter , will it affect my battery? Please help

Using my macbook pro whole day with the power adapter , will it affect my battery? Please help

It doesn't affect the battery. You can use your MacBook Pro plugged in all the time without damaging the battery. You only have to be sure that you unplug it and run a battery cycle (drain the battery without letting the Mac turn off and charge it fully) at least once a month to keep the battery life.

  • I bought a used macbook air, with reinstalled the OS without iMovie. How can I get iMovie on App free of charge as a default in macbook air ?

I bought a used macbook air, with reinstalled the OS without iMovie. How can I get iMovie on App free of charge as a default in macbook air ?

Unfortunately, as recommended by the lady from CA, as long as the Mac is still associated with the Apple ID of the original owner, you can't even buy those iLife apps with that Mac. You will always get the alert to download them with the original owner's Apple ID.
As suggested by the chavo from España, you need the original owner to contact Apple Care* and request that the OS and the iLife apps be disassociated from his Apple ID. Then you should be free to OS X Recovery to resinstall the most recent version of OS X that shipped with the Mac and install the iLife apps. Afterward, before using any of the iLife apps you need to open the Mac App Store (MAS) to the Purchases pane and Accept these apps into your MAS account's Apple ID. If you use any of the iLife apps before you have accepted them into your account, as per the app's Terms of Use, they all become one-trick-ponies that can not be downloaded onto another Mac or updated.

*If you bought the Mac from a 2nd hand shop and don't have access to the original owner, you may need to provide Apple a purchase receipt to offer proof of sale.

  • I have purchased (veranda magazines) for my IPHONE which I would like to use on my macbook air. Do I have to repurchase these app or is there some way to get them in my macbook air with no charge?

i have purchased (veranda magazines) for my IPHONE which I would like to use on my macbook air. Do I have to repurchase these app or is there some way to get them in my macbook air with no charge?

Veranda Magazine is a free app available for iOS devices in the iOS App Store.  You then purchase a Veranda Magazine subscription from within the app.  In other words, the app itself is free, but the contents are not.
There is no way to duplicate or import this to a Mac.  Your Mac runs a totally different operating system.
iBooks can now import to Mac since OS X Mavericks came out about a month ago.  But that does not apply to magazines or iOS Newsstand publications.

    If still problem
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, ,make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • HELP! My Macbook Air won't power on!!

I have plugged it up and the power cord's light is green. It has ben a week and it still won't power on. What do I do now?

Were you able to find a solution... My wife's Air is doing the same thing I have tried all the KB suggestions of key combinations etc.. The power supply is green but the Macbook Air will NOT power on. Frustrated because I have a Dell laptop and never have had any problems as this Mac. So far she has had the Hard Drive fo so we replaced with a SSD $145... Then the hinges went $150... Then the LCD went $150 now it will not power on... from the looks of things it could be the Logic Board $850. There is no way I am sinking more money into this inferior product... I think Apple should be replacing this free of charge...This was all after the warranty was up...
Let me know if your problem has been resolved...
