Charging my Italian Iphone in USA

Hello.
Does somebody know if I can charge the battery of my Iphone in USA using the italian regular and official battery charger (of course with a plug adapter)?
I mean: could it be recharged either with 110v or 220v as well?

Yes - the charger that comes with the phone (ultracompact USB power adapter) runs on 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz, so it works pretty much anywhere in the world if you have the proper plug adapter so the prongs fit the local outlet.

It depends on whether your iPhone is unlocked. If it's locked to an Italian carrier, then no, you will not be able to use it with a US carrier unless you arrange international roaming with your carrier. If the iPhone is unlocked, then it should work with a US carrier who offers GSM service, though only via 3G or EDGE (your iPhone 4S doesn't support LTE).

LOcked phone needs to be used using the carrier that sells it. if you are in another country and would like to buy a locked phone, then buy it in your country to make it more useful. The advertisement of the locked phone in US is only showing the price you need to pay for the phone but you can only buy it if you will sign for a 2 year agreement that you will be using the phone through their service. Once terminated prior to the end of contract you will be charged with etf or early termination fee which will be the same with buying the phone with apple in full price

Thanks for the replies. It took a while not hearing anything so thought I was alone. I have done many of the suggestions already. The key here is that it occurs on both phones with apps, and phones still packaged in a box.
A Genius Bar supervisor also checked his Verizon data usage log and found the same 6 hour incremental use. Suprisingly, he did not express much intrigue over that. Maybe he did, but did not show it.
I think the 6 hour incremental usage is the main issue here. I spoke with Verizon (again) and they confirmed that all they do is log exactly when the phone connected to the tower and used data. The time it records is when the usage started. I also found out that the time recorded is GMT.
What is using data, unsolicited, every 6 hours?

Since no one from Apple seems to be chiming in on this, and I have not received the promised calls from Apple tech support that the Genius Bar staff said I was suppose to receive, it is starting to feel like something is being swept under the rug.

Well ... what would someone set automatically that is of any use to them? hmmm ... video, pictures, sound. Is the iPhone 5 succeptible to snooping? Can an app be buried in the IOS that automatically turns on video and sound recording, and send it somewhere ... every 6 hours? Chilling. I noted that the smallest data usage is during the night when nothing is going on, then it peaks during the day. The Genius Bar tech and I looked at each other when I drew this sine wave graph on the log print outs during an appointment ...

I'm wondering if I can use my galaxy S4 charger on my iPhone 5 because charging on my usb tooks forever. I won't be able to get a replacement charger till next week.

The charger from the S4 will not work as it is micro USB and all iDevices starting with the iPhone 5 use a lightening connector. The 4S and older use a 30pin dock connector.

The European sockets take 2 x round pins, adapter available from in most drug stores carrying travel aids as is the UK pin converter.

The warranty is not and has never been International. Warranty and support are only valid in the country of origin. The only exception is for devices sold in the EU where the EU is treated as one country for warranty and support purposes.

No. Return it and get your money back if still within the 30 day return window. All US iPhones are carrier locked and cannot be officially unlocked.

A no-contract sales price does not mean unlocked.
Apple is now selling an officially unlocked iPhone in the U.S. which has nothing whatsoever to do with AT&T unlocking iPhones. It is up to the carrier and the carrier only to officially unlock an iPhone that was sold as carrier locked with the carrier - in this case sold as carrier locked with AT&T. This may change one day, but at the present time AT&T does not unlock an iPhone for any reason or under any circumstances.

You can charge it up as much as you like. The battery in the iPhone does not have the "memory effect" that old batteries used to have. I usually charge mine untill the small whote battery with the lightning bold through it changes to just a small white battery. The green battery icon in the middle of the screen should show as completly full as well. Again if you don't have enough time to fully charge it, don't worry, it won't harm the battery.
I have done this since the original iPhone and have never had a battery give short life or fail.
Many people top off the battery several times a day.
