Charging my lumia 710 causing messages to be unabl...

The problem with the charger used to be infrequent and easily fixed by turning the phone off and on, or by taking out the battery. Now it happens about 50% of the time I plug the phone in. After it's been plugged in, when i go to press the send icon, it freezes and the message isn't sent. If i go back to the thread, ot still will not send. Now i take out my battery and the charger and put them back in, which seems to correct the problem after two or three times.
Last week, my phone sent out old messages for the third time. The first time was months after thanksgiving, which sent out a mass "happy thanksgiving" message I had composed on thanksgiving. The second time was during one of these times the messaging would not work. The most recent time was during another attempt at making the phone work, where it sent about 10 old messages to three different people. On the last occasion, I had removed and then pit back the sim card, which I believe may have caused it.
Is there any way to fix and prevent these issues?

Be sure that you are in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and then on again.If unable to do so, see this article.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and Cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and indicate that they are connected to the Internet.If not, refer to your network administrator or ISP for assistance.
Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you are connected. Then tap > and Forget this Network. Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network again.
Note: You will need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your desired network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and then on again2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2.For AirPort Base Stations, see this article for information about firmware updates.
If that doesnt seem to resolve the issue, then I suggest this part at the bottom:
Wi-Fi disconnects, or signal strength is less than expected
Move closer to the Wi-Fi router (access point).
Check for sources of potential interference.
Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if signal strength improves.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN and APN settings.

  • Lumia 710 - Facebook Messaging disconnecting

    I just bought my Lumia 710 yesterday. When I tried to go to Messaging > Online, it would show my Facebook contacts. After about 30 seconds or so, it would show these contacts as offline. 
    I've tried turning Facebook chat on and off via Messaging > Online, changing my chat status, and turning my wifi on and off to no effect. I've also tried getting closer to the wifi modem in my house, but that didn't work either. Any help would be much appreciated. 

    I also had this problem and still do, but I found a "solution". It doesn't require any money, you don't even have to move from where you're seated. Just download the IM+ app. Get the free one and add Facebook to it. You can also add other forms of messaging like skype to it aswell, all integrated into one little app. From this app, even with windows 7, you can get notifications (not on the lock screen) but they pop up at the top like a normal message and the live tile also tells you how many notifications you have. It's super easy, free, and personally better than the original messaging app as everything is put in together (apart from texts) so give it a go. I was almost a wreck until I found it

    I had the same problem and was luckily enough to figure it out from above discussion.....
    1. go to market place
    2. go to "nokia collection" and look for "network setup"
    3. install "network setup"
    3.5. if you cannot find "network setup" under "nokia collection", please go back to the market place window, click the search button (looks like a magnifiying glass). and type in "network setup"
    4. after "network setup" is installed (it should show on your app list), please make sure your data connection is on and it is on "roam" (not sure which one let you read the picture msg but i did turn on both and it worked)
    5. go back to your text msg and then click "get media content now", it should show "getting media content", and you should be able to read that msg.
    To turn on data connection and roam:
    1. go to app list
    2. click "setting"
    3. choose "cellular". data connection and roaming option should be in this window, turn them on.

  • Lumia 710 boots sometimes while charging

    I usually charge my Lumia 710 while I'm sleeping. It is happened now twice that during the night Lumia vibrates and restarts itself. After that it will ask PIN code and so on. This does not happen every time and never when not being charged.
    I talked today with Nokia via Chat and the person there said that this is a feature but it sounds a bit weird? It is annoying to wake up because the phone is making noise and nobody could call you because the phone is asking PIN code.
    Has anybody else noticed this kind of behavior?

    Do you mean the phone restarts or starts when charging?
    If you mean 'starts' it is indeed by design (or a feature if you like). Windows Phone is an always on-design, meaning it only has two modes on or off.
    Charging also occurs in on-mode. There is no charge-mode (other than when the battery is very low, then it has a special animation it shows before booting into the main OS). So if you plug in a charger it will switch to on, and boot the main OS.
    If you want to use overnight charging and not being disturbed, just put the phone in airplaine mode or just silence the ringer.
    if you however mean that it 'restarts' in the sense that your phone is already on, and restarts during charging it is a bug and not a feature.

    I had issues with this today when I used the micro-usb to charge my lumia 710 from my PC. It halted everything and I was unable to swipe and tap. The physical buttons still worked but are pretty useless if you can't swipe/tap. The funny thing was I thought a reboot would fix this but after holding the power button for a few seconds I got a message on the screen to swipe down to confirm this action - Hello I can't swipe/tap !! Anyways after a few tries of attaching the usb cable, the issue fixed itself.

    I bought a lumia 710 in Feb. of this year for my husband, I was told it was an easy phone to use , and the best . Well, 10 months later, we have had the phone replaced, a new sim card and a master reset and are still ready to hit this phone with a hammer. First it  would mysteriously delete all the contacts in the phone and shut off, and do this a couple times per day, when we complained , they sent us a new phone, it continued this a couple more times, then the phone linked to his email account  so he could check emails, deleted all of his saved emails , ones that were sentimental  to him , had passwords, etc.  we unlinked it. The phone has continued to send emails to contacts in his recent list, even emails to himself! We had the sim card replaced before the phantom  sending . Now  the phone is sending random text messages  to  his work H R dept, and has sent them spam emails for **bleep** enlargement, etc. Most recently, he sent me a email from work telling me how busy his night had been and loving sentiment. At the bottom of the email was a sentence telling me something very unkind. When I replied to it, he was confused as to what I was talking about and called and I explained why I was upset, he didnt send that!  We looked on his phone at his message and his message stopped at the nice stuff and ended with a smiley face, which was common for him to send me, no unkind sentences at all! Tell me Nokia how does a phone suddenly change text messages while they are in cyber space????? Not to mention that the phone has the worst service, stand in a room with everyone around you streaming videos and yours only says emergency calls only!  When we went to our provider, they offered no assistance other than shut off the phone , let us charge you for a new phone. HELP!!

    Are you connecting to your home Wi-Fi? Try to reset your router and then check again. You can also soft reset your phone by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds. Make sure your wifi is visible.

  • Nokia lumia 710 CONNECTION ERROR

    Hi,
    I have a noia lumia 710, and whenever I connect my windows phone , zune opens but then an error message prompts. " Connection error, Can't connect to your phone. Disconnect it, restart it, then try connecting  again."
    I have tried all possible solutions.

          There is a simple solution. I observed. When you sync your phone with out a entry password and then set a password on the phone. May be the phone doesn't get connected...
    When I made zune to forget the device and connected again it asked for me to enter the password to start the sync. I realized last time I synced there wasn't a password..

  • Problem back cover letters lumia 710

    Hello i have a lumia 710 which is in warranty, but the back cover letters from slogan "NOKIA"  detached.Only letter "O" detached but it beggins and "N". I went to the service, and they told me that the warranty does not cover the back cover but on the website Nokia wrote that design elements are being covered. "Nokia warrants to you that during the warranty period Nokia or a Nokia authorized service company will in a commercially reasonable time remedy defects in materials, design and workmanship free of charge by repairing or, should Nokia in its absolute discretion deem it necessary, replacing the Product in accordance with this Limited Warranty (unless otherwise required by law). "

    As far as I'm aware a design fault would be something that impeded the functionality of the phone. Think Apple and the "antennagate" affair whereby the design of the phone caused a loss of signal if the phone was held "incorrectly". Another example would be dust entering the device and getting under the screen and affecting the proximity sensor or the front facing camera because of the design of the phone.
     Your particular issue is cosmetic and doesn't prevent the phone from being used as intended. I do understand where you're coming from and it must be annoying to have the Nokia logo coming off but unfortunately, I can't see Nokia fixing it under the phones warranty.

  • Cannot re-install apps. in Lumia 710

    Recently I sent my Nokia Lumia 710 to the Nokia Care Centre to resolve some of the issues in the phone. The service guys reinstalled the phone software to resolve the problem. The caused all the apps to be deleted from the phone. 
    Now, I tried to re-install my old apps from my account in windowsphone.com website. I went to the 'recent purchases' options and clicked on the 're-install' link against a few apps which I had installed previously. My phone was connected to the internet all this time. I get a confirmation on the webpage that the app has been sent to my phone. On my phone I get a status 'pending' against that app Then the status changes to 'Attention required. Press here'. When I press it, I get this message "We're having a problem with this application or game because it no longer appears in your purchase history. This can happen if you've  recently switched the gametag associated with your Windows Live ID. We're sorry, but you'll need to buy this application or game again to continue using it". 
    I have not changed the Windows Live ID and still using the old ID that I had used previously. Even my XBOX Live ID is same.

    If it's working fine through the phone then it's surely a Microsoft issue, not a Nokia specific problem.
    You should ask about it on Microsofts forum as they can look into the reason why it doesn't work for you.

  • Lumia 710 signal and Internet sharing problem

    I've been using Lumia 710 since 3 months. Even though the initial experience was good now I'm facing a serious signal problem with the phone. We recently moved to a high-rise building where the signal is weak inside the rooms. If the phone looses the signal it doesn't pick-up the signal even though network is available. This is causing a serious a trouble to me as I don't receive or make calls during the period. I either need to switch-off and switch-on again or I need to turn-on and turn-off  flight mode for the phone to pick up the signal. Sometime even though the signal shows 3/4 bars I won't be able to make/receive the calls.
    I'm also facing a issue with Internet sharing option. Even though devices are able to connect they are not able to use the internet/data from phone. I was using the same SIM with other phone of different make and it was working pretty fine. I rely a lot on internet sharing option and now I can't even swap my SIM with old phone as Lumia uses micro SIM.
    Please let me know the solutions to both these issues.

    That is not normal though. Bring your phone to your local Nokia Care Center and let them have a look at it.
    Internet Sharing on Edge/G is not working very well, try and find a 3G connection (which is fast enough) and you will get a better experience.

  • Nokia lumia 710 issue before and after send to rep...

    need some advice from the forumer/nokia.
    Just bought about a month but my lumia 710 already had an issue 3 days after bought it.
    had send it to nokia care center at the 1st time due to battery drainage issue but the profesionalism of the staff was too bad.not satisfied with their attitude also.
    had told them about another issue like zune can't detect my phone, sometimes can't heard what the people or someone want to said to me when i'm receiving the call. when call out a friend/somebody, they can't hear my voice. didn't receive any call in 1 day but after rebooting the phone got to many missed call log. had been told by my friend that they can't reach me when they call me and all the call that day has been forwarded to voice mail box.
    didn't know why it happened. had been send back to authorised reseller about this issue and my phone has been handed to nokia care center by them.
    after return from the nokia care center, had ask the reseller what is the root cause , the reseller said the nokia care center just downgraded my firmware/os back to 7.5 mango and said the problem solve. just use it back but my phone issue still arising. when receive/make a call the batteries drainage issue still exist. just talk about 5 minutes and the batteries was shown too be deplete but the main point is the batteries was shown 90% before make/receive a call. ?????????????.
    should i returned it back to nokia care center or get back my .....
    are they/the tech expert at nokia care center was too lazy or or lack of knowledge or not knowing of the level of troubleshooting method how to solve the problem and didn't know the root cause issue.  its about a month send it to nokia care center but nothing/useless due to the issue/problem was still there.
    check at the website support using the emei number, the repair/emei status didn't exist.

  • Nokia Lumia 710 blank tile space

    I just recently bought a new Lumia 710. Earlier the homescreen was filled with tiles. But suddenly I find there is a gap of one tile space in the second row (by the side of tile showing messaging). Is it possible to fill this gap space? Any quick assistance would be helpful.

    Does any application open when you TAP on the Blank tile ? Most probably it will ( provided you have not Un-Pinned that application) . Once you know for which application it was for..just Long Press on the blank tile and 'Unpin' from the Home screen. Now, go to the list of applications by swiping Left on the Home screen. Select that application and Long Press on it..Select 'Pin to Start' .. You may then drag it to the blank space if it gets placed at other location on the Home screen.....

  • Nokia Lumia 710 Screen - Yellow Display

    Hi everyone
    I have been using the Lumia 710 for the past 5 months or so and today morning I woke up to find my phone's display with yellow hue instead of white background. Took it to the Nokia Care and the guys are now blaming it on me saying water has entered the display and some nonsense. My warranty is not over yet but the Nokia care guys are saying that I have voided the warranty as there was water on the board. I always am protective of my phone and why would someone deliberately let their phone to be spoiled with water. Can I demand for the service without paying for the change of display because I think this is unfair.

    There are more causes of water damage than just immersion in actual water. For example prolonged exposure to steam, sweat, rain and high humidity can cause moisture damage as can rapid temperature changes.
    If you feel that they are wrong you should call Nokia care in your country and ask for the complaints department or address and try to resolve it through them. They have more power to try and resolve the situation for you.
    Unfortunately there is nothing that the users of this forum can do to help you.

  • Lumia 710 can't open E-mails...

    I am trying to send the Pages & Numbers files saved on my iPhone to my Lumia 710, i have the option to send it by Pages & Numbers or Word & Excel, whenever i try to send either by e-mail to my Windows Phone, it downloads the file but it says
    "Can't Open Attachment"
    Oops! We're not sure what's wrong, but we can't open this file."
    i have tried sending it with different e-mail addresses (GMX, Yahoo Rocketmail, G-Mail, Hotmail) but still it comes up with the same message. Numbers file size is 581KB, Excel file size is 84KB.
    I have the option to send it by PDF, i have tried it but i can the same message appears.

    Hey sm_19, Welcome to the Nokia Forums.
    Please check that your e-mail inboxes are not full or nearly full and also that you have sufficient phone memory left on your phone to save/open the file.
    Also please check that you have installed the latest software update onto your phone.

    Hello, i got a 'challenging' problem. In my country, when someone want to join specific internet package connection they have to register with their phone.
    the workflow should be like this:
    1. press/call in specific format (for me its: *100#)
    2. choose the package through keypad
    3. done
    my problem is, when the package's list displayed i can't choose because the keypad/keyboard is hidden.
    Any idea to solve this ? how to do this from lumia 710 ?

    You need to update your phone. This problem has been solved in latest software version.
    update through Nokia care.
