Charging New iTouch in car adaptor

I recently bought a 2009 Subaru Forester and got the iPod addon option. So, this past week I bought a brand new iTouch and plugged it in. The functionality seems to work, but it says as I plug it in, that it is NOT charging. So I looked up the documentation that came with the Forester, and it says right in it, that when you have the ipod connected it will be charging.
I also borrowed a friends dock station with RCA outlets so I could plug it into my home stereo, works fine functionally, but it also says it is NOT charging.
The USB connector I got with the iTouch works fine for charging, so I don't understand why the brand new car connection does not charge my iTouch. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the responses, but if true, and I have no reason to doubt you, WOW, what a bummer - I think I paid over $150 for the iPod adapter in this NEW car... and it says right in the documentation that it will charge the device. I guess I will go to the Subaru dealer and see what they say. Also weird is I when to the Apple Store yesterday and asked two sales reps, and neither one knew the answer, and neither said the firewire issue. Why would Apple do such a thing?
I did buy a Griffin attachable battery and charger, and it came with a car and wall charger.

How do I charge new iPad in car

Obviously the new iPad uses a 10w mains charger. I have found loads of car chargers but none that say they will charge the iPad 3rd Gen via 12v socket. Griffin has one that claims it will but in Apple store it stated its not compatible. I can't find anywhere even in Apple site where I can get one. Does the iPod show up in iTunes on the Mac? If not try:

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
Otherwise what happens when you try to sync? Note that you can only sync with one iTunes library/computer. If that is the problem you should go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase and content and setting and set up the iPod on you computer/iTunes library. One content on the iPod does not belong to you.

I believe that the corded connection from the wireless charging plate is a 2.5mm connection, and thus won't connect to USB and therefore there are no accessories. 2mm chargers and 2.5mm charger connections are usually the Nokia proprietary technology, so unless you solder one yourself, I doubt you will find what you are looking for, my friend.

Car adaptor for Qosmio f10

Hello just wanted to know if there is a car adaptor or plug etc what I can use to charge my Qosmio F10 laptop in the car as im of on holiday soon and it will run out of battery after 2 hours or so , so wondering if theres anything like that to keep it running for as long as i want? if there is could you suggest a name and model of one that will work with this pc. Car adaptor for w520?

I just bought myself a w520, and I'm still waiting for it to arrive.
My main usage for it is going to be in the field, driving around a lot, with very little access to a wall power point, so I'm looking at getting a car adaptor for it, but I don't seem to find any around.
I've seen a couple on ebay quoted for the w520, but they're only rated at 90w and not the full 170w, but I want to be able to use the laptop while plugged into the car, not just charge it.
Any links/suggestions?

I don't know of any, but would like to tag on a relevant question. Could a normal car "power point", (cigarette lighter), support a power adapter which needs to output 170W without burning out? I'm doubtfull that it can, but remain to be corrected.

Try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't help, try a Restore. From iTunes, select the iPad and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad.
There's more but let's take it in small bites.

There have been some problems accessing pages on the Apple web site. If the hyperlink gives you a "We're sorry" message, try again.

New itouch and syncing

If I plug in my new itouch i will be receiving in a few days and sync it, will it take all of the music from itunes even if i had another older itouch attached to my account?..I dont care about the old itouch and will not be using it anymore and I do not need to transfer any of the music from it, so would I have to remove that itouch and add the new one? How can i do that? Or am I over thinking this and it would sync fine.

It will take whatever music you tell it to. Go to the iTunes music tab.

Using iPod cables and iPod doc with new iTouch?

My new iTouch fits in the doc of my old iPod and so does the cable from the old iPod. Is there any harm in using these same cables? I don't want to sync or charge it until I know it won't cause any issues. Thanks for your assistance.

You probably don't want to use a different iPod's dock adapter for you iPod Touch for this reason: It will most likely internally damage the iPod Touch, and damage the dock! I would definitely use the dock adapter that came with it, because it is especially made for the iPod Touch. As for the cable, I do not believe that there is anything wrong with using a different one, I am pretty sure that they are essentially the same thing, they just look a little different.

hi philly, thanks for getting back to me, especially on such a busy day.
I don't think that's quite the issue though. I bought an album and it appears in 'my purchases' within the itunes app. Yet, in order to listen to the music, i must use the 'music' app and in this application, there are only three tracks displayed at any one time from my downloaded album.
I can 'download all' from the 'my purchases' section but that still doesn't help, it just keeps the last three tracks downloaded in the music app.
I have the 'icloud' enabled and wondered if it had anything to do with that.
i have successfully downloaded another full album totally into the music app, but this first album is causing me problems.

If you want to transfer app dat you need to restore the new iPod from the backup of the old iPod. Restoring from backup will result in your new iPod being just like your old iPOd except you will have to reenter keychain items like passwords since those only get restore to the same device upon a restore.
