Charging port issues on iPhone 4

Just now I was texting my fiancé off my iPhone 4 when all of a sudden the sound the keys make when you touch them  went out. I went to check the volume but It wouldn't change. The ringer thing showed up but no bars did. All sound works except when I lock it, unlock it, texts, calls, and the keyboard clicks  when I blow in the charging port it starts working again. Somebody Explain what's wrong please? What should I do

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

So I see almost everyone that has the Incredible 2 has had a charging port issue. I love it how one Verizon store told me it was a known issue and another store said it wasn't. It seems like it is well known and Verizon nor HTC wants to own up to it. Everyone that has this issue should not have to pay the $99 out of warranty fee for a refurbish phone. I got to wait a month to get my upgrade. The only way my phone charges is through my laptop usb cord which is weird but not my wall charger. To be honest, I might have to switch to a different brand or maybe even go to a different carrier.

Well, when you see how many people are on here writing the same issue and a Verizon rep replying to trying to take care of it, its going to be a known issue. Even called HTC to see how much to fix through them. The gentleman has had calls in the past and recently about people complaining about the same issue. I know Verizon stores don't fix these issues in the store, but I expect better from a smartphone. All of my phones in the past never had this issue.
Regarding the service, Verizon still has the best in my area.
When you work retail, you should help a customer try to fix there issue by at least mentioning someone who can fix it.
Not just trying to sell another product. That isn't good customer service.

Check that the LCI in the dock connector of the iPhone hasn't been set off as shown in the article below:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3302
    Try a reset aswel:
    - hold the home button and sleep/wake button down for atleast 12 seconds
    - release both buttons as soon as you see the apple logo appear

  • Is a Faulty charge port covered under iPhone 5's standard one year warranty?

Is a Faulty charge port covered under iPhone 5's standard one year warranty? As in the phone will go from charging to not charging without even moving the phone. It happens with multiple chargers as well so it is the phone.

As long as it was not covered by damages yes it is covered. Make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store and back up your iPhone before you go in.

  • Charger port issue?

So I've been having a slight issue with my Droid X. This started yesterday. I had it plugged in and it randomly stopped charging then started again. It was quick but I saw it. It happened again today. So I'm wondering if my Droid's charger port is **bleep** up or if the tip of the charger cable is messed up. I'm assuming it's a phone issue though. Now this is my baby (second to my ASUS laptop) but i treat it with plenty of care, and I am gentle with it.

Here's the cable I purchased and it works great.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002I8MUJG    I was so happy with it that I purchased 3 more for around the house.
I also picked up a DIRT cheap HDMI cable here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003XNANU8  It works wonderfully as well!  I was a bit skeptical when I bought it and figured I'd just be out $5 worst case.  I was happily surprised when it worked flawlessly.
I've had both products about 2 months now and they are holding up very well.

  • Curve 8330 usb/charging port issues.

My 8330 just started to have problems with its usb/charge port. I plugged it in last night before bed like I always do, but when I woke up it hadn't charged a bit and wasn't even recognizing that it had been plugged in. I tried my USB data cable as well, and that didn't register either unless I wiggled the cord around and held it still once it did register. I eventually did get the phone to register that I had plugged it in, but I had to wiggle the cord just so and leave the charger half-way plugged in once I found the sweet spot.
It is a few years old and pre-owned, but this problem literally just cropped up. I haven't dropped it recently, and I only plug it in once a day. It has no problem holding a charge, but getting it to register the cord is a battle. Do I need to just replace it or is there a way to fix this? There are no other problems, just the port acting up. Thanks!

  • Charging port Issue

Hi, i have a Lumia 620 which was bought 6 months back. From last few weeks the Mobile automatically displays charging symbol even if the charger is not connected.I have tried the factory reset twice but no good. Can anyone help.

You'll have to ask a Care Point to look at this for you. It sounds like a hardware issue.

  • HT1688 how much does apple charge to replace my charging port on my iphone 4s

can anyone help me with this

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5s. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • Soap gel in iPhone 4 charging port

Soap gel entered in the charging port of my iPhone 4 . I tried drying it with tissue . Kept in rice for 10 hrs . Sound is gone . I cannot make  the volume buttons make any change on the ringer icon !! No music can be heard . Phone seems to work like in silent mode !! Please help .

Sure, as long as the paper doesn't tear and leave a piece behind. A new toothbrush is the preferred cleaning tool. Or a blast from a can of air.

  • Iphone 4 New Replacement Charge Port

Yesterday I had bought a new replacement charge port for my iphone 4 and the replacement part that I had received was different from the one that was installed on my phone. Here is what it looked like,

Here is what the original one looked like,
    http://i42.tinypic.com/2ce1yxi.jpg
Does anyone know where I can find the original charge port replacement that I need for my phone? I've looked on amazon and ebay and the pictures arent similar to the original one I've shown. What kind of iphone 4 do I have? As far as I know, Its a white iphone 4 from AT&T. Thanks for any help!

You ordered the wrong part, which is CDMA iPhone 4 part. You need to purchase white iPhone 4 GSM, ATT part. The color is not important, but nice to get right. The GSM or ATT is the part you need for your iPhone 4. You will also need to remove the mic cover and transfer over to the new part. The small black rectangle on the mic flex can be transfered also if you want. And the Home button flex is perfect?

  • Short in iPhone5 Charging port?

I believe I have a short in the charging port of my iPhone 5. All 3 lightning cables work fine on my fiance's iPhone5 but with mine the cable has to be held in place at a very specific angle (Pressed firmly in and held to the right) in order for the phone to charge. There isn't any lint in the charging port. Also, the phone is no longer in warranty. I haven't had it longer than a year but Apple replaced it once all ready when the top button stopped functioning correctly which was covered under warranty at the time, and now still is do to certain models being prominent for that same issue. Does anyone have an suggestions of how to correct this issue?
    Thanks

Well it turns out I am blind anyway. My fiancé looked in the port and yep, lint. After scrubbing it all out with a tooth brush. It works now. I should have done that weeks ago.

  • Is Apple going to address the issue with the IPhone 5 charger port?

    Hi all
I have had an IPhone for about 4 years and have had my current iPhone 5 for just over a year,I never had any problems until recently. Just before Christmas I started having issues with my IPhone not charging, I bought a new charger and the problem continued so I went into the Apple store in Newcastle, they pulled some dust out of the charger port and the issue appeared to be resolved. However after Christmas it happened again, and again I went to the Apple store, they did the same thing and the phone worked fine for a month. However, this last week the problem has come back, this time when I took the phone into the store, they tried pulling dust out the port but the phone would still not charge, I was then told that as the phone is out of warranty there is nothing they can do other than charge me £209 to fix it!!
What concerns me is that after speaking to other iPhone users and doing some online research I have discovered this is a seriously common problem. So now through no fault of my own, I am left with a phone, which doesn't work and costs me £48 a month. Another concern is that I originally took the phone to the store with this problem before my warranty ran out and was given a 'temporary fix', which made the phone last untill just after my warranty has ran out!
I am angry and disappointed, this issue needs to be addressed as the Phones appear to be like a ticking time bomb waiting to break, and for those of you like me, who this happens to you after the warranty is up, you are elft with no solution other than to pay £209!!!!

Or talk to the store manager or Apple Customer Relations and explain that you brought the phone in twice before the warranthy expired for the same problem and that there was no permanent solution, though if clearing out the debris fixed it previously, it's perhaps unlikely that they'll think it a defect. You can try, though. Just complaining here will accomplish nothing since we're all fellow users in these forums.
    Regards.

  • The charger port pin in an iphone 5 is broken. What are the possible solutions to this issue?

The charger port pin in an iphone 5 is broken. What are the possible solutions to this issue?

    Read: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4436
It is pretty short so here is the entire text:
    Symptoms
A purplish or other colored flare, haze, or spot is imaged from out-of-scene bright light sources during still image or video capture.
    Resolution
Most small cameras, including those in every generation of iPhone, may exhibit some form of flare at the edge of the frame when capturing an image with out-of-scene light sources. This can happen when a light source is positioned at an angle (usually just outside the field of view) so that it causes a reflection off the surfaces inside the camera module and onto the camera sensor. Moving the camera slightly to change the position at which the bright light is entering the lens, or shielding the lens with your hand, should minimize or eliminate the effect.
Which is exactly what eelw wrote.

  • Found a dead spider in my charging port (iphone 4) this morning. Now phone wont charge at all... What can I do? It's now all totally cleared of lint and legs :/

This morning my phone wouldnt charge, I tried three different charging cables. They are lighting up to show they are working, but the phone does not charge or show a symbol or connect to the computer.
So i cleaned out the lint from inside the charging port. and inside all the chargers, some of them were new off the shelf so would not be the problem.
I found a dead spider inside the port. Have blown into it, thoroughly cleaned with a needle any debris and fluff and spider legs etc...
It still wont charge. I have ten percent battery... it's off for now. It is not covered for a chat with apple at all, unless i pay $40 which is crazy expensive.
Any ideas of what to do to save this phone? Obviously i cant back it up because it wont plug in to anything.
For now it is not on charge, just trying to let it dry out.
Probably i squashed this spider when plugging it in. therefore there could be spider guts all ruining the inside? I don't know how the ports are made. Up until not charging
there were no issues at all.

    Hi lisellemono1,
I'm sorry to hear you are having charging issues with your iPhone; I know how frustrating that can be. Based on your description and the possibility that there may be other debris or residue still in the charging port, you may need to have your iPhone evaluated or serviced. • Belkin Dock damaged my iPhone's charging port?

I bought a Belkin Charge + Sync Dock for my iPhone 5 (the one that includes the cable) in February. It was a flimsy, crappy device from the start, but I figured I might as well use it.
Four months have passed and now the lightning port on my iPhone 5 has started to deteriorate very quickly and noticibly. I would only charge my phone with the dock and I wouldn't use the lightning cable that came with my phone or any other cord for that matter. I went on a trip so I took my lightning cable with me and it would only charge at an odd angle. I also noticed the plug was very loose inside the port. This became true with the dock as well. The dock was flimsy and wobbly at the start and now would only charge at a very odd angle too.
Any cord I use barely works, and my phone does not charge at night anymore. I know it is not a problem with my cords, because I tried my friend's cords and they also did not work. I know the dock ruined my port because that was the only thing I charged with for four months.
Who should I go to for help? Should I call Belkin and ask for a return?
Would my Apple 1-year limited warranty (I do not have AppleCare) cover a new phone?

Contact Belkin and report the issue, see what they will do for you.
The Apple warranty does not cover damage which is exactly what has occurred.
