Charging Problem after Deep Sleep

Hey
All works fine but, when i wake up my MacBook from the Deep Sleep Mode, it seems, that my MacBook doesn´t know, if the MacSafe is plugged in or not.
Normally, when you plug in the MacSafe, in the menu bar the batterie status goes to "charging". But after the Deep Sleep Mode, my MacBooks doesn´t know, that i turn off the MacSafe. All the time, it shows the status, "charged" in the menu bar.
So the Problem is, that my MacBook doesn´t show the right charging status in the menu bar. So i
don´t know, how the batterie status is.
That´s very strange.
Somebody who can help me?

if you haven't already try listing your problem in the Powerbook forum. Sounds like its most likely an issue with the PB.
Also, have you tried putting the ipod in different settings? As in;
Enable Disk Mode
->itunes open
->itunes closed
Open itunes when this ipod is connected
->itunes open
->itunes closed
and then combining the two...

SSD and corrupted menu after deep sleep
    Hi, I have a MacBook Pro mid 2012 13 inches (9,2).
I run it with 16GB of ram and OSX 10.8.4
I replaced the internal HD with an Adata SX-910 model (512GB) SSD.
It runs really fast! Boot time is 10 seconds! :-)
However I have a major problem! When I MacBook Pro will end the battery energy and will go below 3 percent, the Mac will go to sleep itself. When I will start back the Mac, with the power connected, every time I will see the desktop colors corrupted and the menu of Apple Safari, Apple Mail and few others gone! Only solution is to re-install Mac OSX!
I took the Mac to an Apple center and Apple did NOT find any problem with the Mac itself. I have returned the Adata to the vendor and got a new one (with latest firmware).... However I have discovered that the problem is happening again! :-(
I have tried to use Insomnia smartspleep tool, but does not work as expected.I think that only solution is to re-charge the battery before it goes below 3 percent.....
please note: using the trim enabler tool did NOT solved the issue:-(
    Any suggestion?
Maybe it is indeed an issue related only to Adata SSD? I am confused and frustrated.

    Clinton,
Apple hibernation has three modes. By default, on laptops it suspends the system and make a copy of RAM to disk for a completely safe hibernate. When you have 8 Gigabytes of RAM it takes twenty or thirty seconds to write that RAM image. I suspend/resume often during my day and don’t want to wait. This has worked really well for me.
You can change the Mac’s hibernate behavior using pmset; here’s the reference for it:
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/man1/pmset.1. html
“sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0″ = suspend to RAM only (default on desktops)
“sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 1″ = suspend to disk only
“sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 3″ = suspend to disk + RAM (default on laptops)
How can I set my MacBook Pro to go into deep sleep, I guess it is mode 0, BEFORE the 3 minutes remaing time? I think to be safe, it should go to deep sleep automatically when it is around 15 percent batter level.....

  • IPod gets stuck when it starts play mostly after deep sleep

    Hi,
I have a problem with my 60G Video iPod:
Most of the times it gets stuck completely when I start use it after deep sleep (it hasn't been used for night etc.).
    The problem is very consistent:
    1. I turn it on.
    2. Start playing some song.
    3. See the 'normal' play screen (song timer is 0:0)
    4. Hear spinning and clicks of hard drive and ....
    5. It just freezes: doesn't response to any key (including Hold)
Only Reset helps now and when I generally get Folder icon with exclamation point and
it needs at least another reset to be able use it.
I updated iPod to the last version (1.1) - doesn't help.
It passed through Restore - same results: Every second turning on it gets stuck.
Does anybody have/know about similar behavior?
I think I have to ask Yeda for help?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Macbook Pro Retina Mountain lion freezes after deep sleep

    Hello All,
I am having a strange problem with my MacBook Pro Retina, Mid 2012 (Mountain Lion 10.8.3). Since about January time It keeps crashing after I put it into a deep sleep. After closing the lid - waiting for 1 hour or so - then reopening the lid, i get presented with the normal Apple login screen (breifly) and then it crashes and i get a grey screen saying my mac has had an issue and it needs to restart.
When i log back on i get an error message that I can send onto Apple and then my Mac carries on as normal. Very weird.
I have searched these forums, been into the Apple store, spoken to Apple done hardware diagnostics, reinstalled the OS (worked breifly then stopped working again) - so i assume its one of the programs or bits of hardware that i use (which i have tried to isolate/remove)- but i am still strugling to solve these issues.
It would be great if someone could give me some advice around:
    1. Where I can find these log files/error messages, etc.
    2. Understanding what it is causing this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

The solution is to dump the 100€ mini-display port DVI-D adapter that apple sells and buy a mini-Display to Display-Port cable for 6€. No crashes, no annoying interruption of the display (which I had several times the day for 2 or 3 seconds). There are very short interruptions now, but it is much better than with the apple adapter. The apple adapter needs a USB port, which is not necessary with the simple cable.
As for the monitor: Burn In, otherwise great. The burn in can be erased via monitor menu but should not be there in the first place.
    Hope this helps.

  • Songs seem lost after deep sleep

After I wake my iPod Photo from deep sleep, none of the songs show in the menus. The only way to fix this is connecting it to my iBook. This is ofcourse very irritating, because I don't always have my iBook with me. I have updated the iPod recently but it doesn't help. I haven't always had this problem.
Does someone recognise this and knows what to do?

I had this same problem and finally went back and reinstalled version of iPod updater 2005-03-23. I purchased by photo ipod last February and it worked fine until I updated with 2005-6-6-26 version, and then it started the problem with the music disappearing and needing to hook it back to my Mac so the music would show up. It does appear to be corrupting the directory, because the music is still on the iPod, but it does not display as being there on any of the munus.
I am currently running version 1.2.1 of the iPod updates, and it does lock up from time to time, but I can easily do a manual reset, and the tunes are still there.
I have not run the updates because each time it causes the same problem to come back.

  • Keyboard works intermittently after deep sleep

    Hi,
when my Macbook Pro comes back from deep sleep (i.e. if battery went out during the night, with the mac in sleep), the keyboard first works just long enough for me to log in, then starts working intermittently, like for 15seconds periods every 5 minutes or so.
The only solution is to reboot my computer.
    10.5.1 didn't solve the problem.
That problem is a definite showstopper. It renders my computer unusable.

I turned off deep sleep 2 months ago and still had the missing first key stroke problem.
then upgraded to 10.5 then had the total keyboard freeze. seemed to happen more on battery power. repaired disk permission and the freeze has stopped but still random missing keystrokes it seems to happen most in highlighted dialog boxes. turning off bluetooth helped with erratic track pad when waking from sleep

  • I have iMac 27.  After Mountain Lion install, my trackpad freezes partially after deep sleep and need to restart to get it working again.  anyone with same issue?

I have an iMac 27 and installed Mountain Lion last week.  Since then, after a deep overnight sleep, certain of my trackpad functions are frozen after i wake the Mac.  i need to restart the computer in order to get the trackpad fully functional.  Anyone with same issue or ideas?

I'm having the exact same issue with Mountain Lion on my 2008 17" MacBook Pro. I've just tried the SMC reset, so we'll see how that does. The problem was intermittent, occuring not after every wake--from-sleep, but every few.
Interestingly, my 2007 17" MacBook Pro is also running Mountain Lion (the oldest MacBook Pro than can!), and hasn't had this problem at all.

  • Problems after computer sleeps.

About a week ago I started having the following problems whenever I would wake my computer up after sleep.
-Flash videos stop playing correctly, the video becomes extremely slow and jerky, beyond what's watchable. I tried watching flash using Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari, and it was the same for all three.
-All audio stops completely, through both the internal audio card and my external Sennheiser USB audio card.
-Itunes stops functioning. When I click a song, it doesn't start scrolling as if it's playing but there's no audio, it just sits there.
-Programs that I have run many times before start giving me the pop-up dialog saying that the program has been downloaded from the internet and asks me if I'm sure I want to open it.
-Dual-monitor issue. Previously, whenever I would open up a new window for any program, it would open the window in the last monitor to have a window from that program, now it always opens the windows in the same monitor regardless.
The only thing that temporarily fixes these problems is to restart my computer, but whenever it goes to sleep and wakes up again they're all back. I've tried dumping both my local user cache and the global cache (Library -> Caches) but that hasn't fixed anything.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
    Try Resetting the PRAM
Boot from your install disc, run Disk Utility to check the startup disc for errors.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
*(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space*
Flash videos stop playing correctly, the video becomes extremely slow and jerky, beyond what's watchable. I tried watching flash using Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari, and it was the same for all three.
Uninstall then reinstall a fresh copy of the Flash Player plugin. Yours may be outdated.
    Uninstall Flash
    Install Flash
    For Safari...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Since you are running Snow Leopard, make sure Safari is opening in 32-bit mode, not 64. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.

Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*

  • Solved ( Ipad charging problem after update IOS 7.0.4 )

Its already verified by me ( Technician ) problem solved.
We were working on my customers ipad for 2-3 weeks finally figured out whats the problem.
We replaced new battery, cable and charger did not work. Reseting your ipad also does not work.
Since we fixed customers Ipad. We tried the small charger, 10w charger and connecting to computer it works. Fully charge.
Its easy fixed. Here what you can do. You need to do fresh factory restore. Do not use restore / update
    1. If your ipad is dead, slow charging. Find a way to have it charge get it at least 5-10 % charge so that your computer will detect it on Itune.
    2. Open Itune, check if your detect it, you see it on top right coner.
    3. If you have FIND MY IPAD app you have to turn it off otherwise it wont allow you. To turn it off go to PRIVACY then you will see LOCATION services turn it on
You also see FIND MY IPAD if its on turn it off it will ask your Apple ID and password. If its off already your ready to go. NOTE: Ipad has to be connected
        on  WIFI or 3G
    4. Go back to Itune. On the top right corner you will see your IPAD NAME click that, you see another box ( restore / update and restores ipad ) select restore
Ipad ( Factory restore with new IOS 7.0.4 ) let it finish the restore and your done. It will now Fixed your problem. It should charge using your original charge
      or connecting to your computer.
NOTE: If you want to upgarde your IOS to 7.0.4 dont do the update you might have problem. You do fresh Factory restore it install new IOS 7.0.4 no problem.
If you have data that you need to have to back it up this restore will earese all information on your ipad.
Good Luck, let me know if this help you and dont forget to share it.

The weird iTunes icon.... Does it also show the USB cord on the screen? If it does, that means that you have to restore your iPad using iTunes on your computer. Something went wrong and you have to fix it by restoring the iOS software.

  • Losing Songs after Deep Sleep - still happening

I thought my issue with the Song Library disappearing had magically fixed itself, but it has returned. Three times in the past week the library has been empty when turning on my 20GB iPod. I don't think it had even been 36 hours since the last time I used it.
The reset option does not work in this instance for me. Everything shows backup as soon as I connect via the USB cable.
The previous posts on this issue have all been closed. Is this still happening for other users or is there a fix? I am running version 1.2.1.
My next thing to try is a total reformat to see if that helps.
    Thanks.

  • 10.9.4 update causing deep sleep wake reboots

    MacBook Pro mid-2012 15"
    2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
After Mavericks 10.9.4 update, my computer started rebooting after deep sleep during charging. When I close the lid and plug in MagSafe, a few hours later, when opening the lid, I get the user choosing screen with a message saying that my computer was restored due to a problem.
This only started happening after I updated to 10.9.4. I have searched these forums and google, but I only get responses saying that this update was supposed to fix this problem. A problem that I did not have before.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
    Cheers,
    Marcelo

After it restarts, does a dialog box resembling the following appear?
If it does, click the Report... button, copy the entire text of the report, and paste it in a reply.
If it does not, read the following:
Prior to shutting the lid note the time in your Mac's menu bar or some other accurate timepiece.
Find the Console app - it is in your Utilities folder and looks like this
You can find it by selecting Utilities from the Finder's Go menu.
    Open Console.
If the log list column on the left is not already displayed, show the log list by selecting Show Log List from Console's View menu.
Locate system.log in the list and select it. Many date and time-stamped entries will appear, hundreds of them, and you must find the entries relevant to your Mac's problem.
To do that type the words bootlog in the Filter field at the upper right of the Console window:
That will cause all log entries to be hidden, except for the entries containing those words. The last entry in the list will correspond to the last time you started the Mac. It will have a time stamp in the form hh:mm:ss later than the time you noted in the Mac's menu bar prior to shutdown.
Make note of that exact time in hours, minutes, and seconds.
Next: Clear the filter field by clicking the x in the above screenshot. It should then look like this:
All previously displayed log entries will reappear.
Next: Find the log entry that corresponds exactly to the time you noted in hours, minutes, and seconds containing the words"BOOT_TIME". You may have to scroll up or down a considerable distance. When you find that line, select it and drag your cursor up and prior to the entry corresponding to the approximate time you noted before shutting down the Mac. This will result in a selection of perhaps 100 to 200 lines or so.
One or more of them, along with their time stamps, may reveal the reason for the problem you describe.
Copy and paste those log entries in a reply. If hundreds of the same repetitive messages appear, please edit them before posting. There should be no need for more than 100 or so total log entries.
Most of the entries will be cryptic but will contain information you might consider personal such as your Mac's name. If you do not want that information to appear, delete or obscure it when posting your reply. Leave enough information so that the entries can be deciphered.

  • Lion not waking up from Deep Sleep with File Fault 2

MBA13, 2011 - Lion 7.1: My MBA doesn't resume after deep sleep (hibernate) in combination with full disk encryption.
Waking the machine up, the logo on the back lights up but there's nothing to see on the screen. After turning off filefault, it's all ok. Do more people share this experience?
    Regards

This problem has spontaneously resolved itself. Despite what I wrote in my last message, I did not turn off FileVault
Now when I run out of power (triggering deep sleep) and then plug in my computer, instead of the system hanging, I get the usual power-on FileVault unlock screen. After a few seconds (but not a full boot sequence), I then get my regular unlock screen (as if I had just woken up the screensaver).
I haven't applied any software updates (including the recent MBA EFI update), so unfortunately I can't say why this started working for me. I did recently change some settings: I set the system to only require a password 1 minute after going to sleep (instead of immediately); and I gave a second user permission to unlock the computer from power up.

  • Deep Sleep - Is it normal to show a grey progress bar during boot?

I've just downloaded the Deep Sleep widget from Axionic Labs. So far, it works wonderfully.
I really like the idea of Deep Sleep. No power consumption, quick boot and same state it was before Deep Sleeping.
However, I noticed that when I power my MBP on (after Deep Sleeping) it shows the grey boot screen with a grey bar below being filled. Actually, it's several small grey bars being filled.
Is it normal to show those grey bars when your MBP is booting after a deep sleep?
    Here's a photo that I took of it: http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/2039/dsc00787uz.jpg

  • Deep Sleep OSX then Boot Windows

I've recently installed Windows 7 using Boot Camp - like a lot of people, I just use it for gaming. It works well, but it'd be a thousand times more pleasant to switch between the two if I could have OSX boot back into the same state that I left it in; I know that deep sleep writes the state to the hard drive, so it should be possible to boot into Windows and then resume OSX from deep sleep later, but I can't seem to access the boot options after deep sleep - it automatically resumes the OSX session when I hit the power button.
I know it should be possible, perhaps using a little EFI trickery, but I'm at a loss for where to begin. Any ideas, anyone?

Just sharing. I had tried the following that does not work:
    - While in OS X, start Terminal and run /efi/refit/enable.sh. Then put the Mac to deep sleep.
    - When I power up the Mac, the efi menu will appear and I am able to select to boot OS X or Bootcamp.
    - When I select OS X, the Mac will try to recover from the deep sleep mode, but it is never able to complete booting up successfully. The progress bar will get stuck just after the second indicator.
    - I then have to hard shutdown the Mac.
    - The next time when I power it up, it will boot normally into OS X as if the sleep image does not exist.
