Charging problem in car

I have two iPad 2's, and have tried several different charging combinations for my car.
We travel with two kids in the back seat and iPads are essential :-)
I have tried using usb charging via cigarette outlet, and I have also tried to convert to 230V via an inverter.
Bot ways are not sufficient enough to keep power on the iPads, an after some hours the power get really low.
The adapters for the cigarette outlet are minimum 2.1 Amp.
I have also tried several different cables. No luck so far.
Can anyone help med here?

You need to make sure the converters and car chargers are rated for iPad use. iPads require more than double the power than iPhones do to charge.  If they are only rated for iPhone they will not work.  In-car USB ports for the most part also do not put out enough power for iPads.
Make sure the cigarette port chargers are specifically rated for iPads. Something like these may work:

  • Ipod Nano/iTrip/Car charger problems.

I recently bought an itrip nano (the one that fits around your ipod) and i originally had a charger for my car, but thanks to the good people at apple I had to buy a new one because no cables would fit the old charger with the itrip plugin.
    *end rant, begin question*
Alright, I ended up buying a macally car charger that had a USB port that would have a wire that could fit the two together (cost about 40 bucks). Ready to here nice clear music right? (clear enough since i did remove my antenna) Wrong...now I hear this annoying high pitched sound if i turn up my car speakers...I already know the problem with reception when you turn up the ipod volume...so what am I to do??
This isn't a question about reception, ive known for awhile the reception problems that come with these devices. This is a question of that freakin sound, and I'm sure someone is going to tell me that i need to buy something else. Thanks Ipod!

Either that or an expensive retrofit. My last car had a lousy radio so I bought a Sony that had an aux port. There are also some really expensive models that have iPod ports. Another option for some cars is an expensive device that adds an auxilliary input to your factory radio but there can be downsides. For me I have a choice of losing my XM radio or losing audible warnings. And then there's the FM transmitters. I bought a Kensington digital and am mostly happy with it. I say mostly because in some areas there is no free frequency so the iPod is unusable.

  • Problems with car charger

I dont think i have read anything like this on the forums yet. Im on my second torch and although i like it a lot being (personal opinion) best blackberry yet (functionwide) , I feel it has some issues that are making me think a lot. I had a problem with the first one, i was charging it in my car (original BB charger) and some times i would see the lighting icon with the phone charging and sometimes not. I wanted to know if it was charging or not, so i tested for minutes looking at the battery % and nothing. Then the phone started to overheat and was not charging anymore, i took it to best buy mobile where i purchased it and they gave me different car chargers to test it. I did test it but i told them that my charger was orgiunal blackberry accesory and that i charge a 9700 and a 8520 from my wife. Nothing happened, they gave me a new phone. With the new one i noticed the b atter life was superb, was way better. but after 4-5 days (yesterday) the battery went dead at 5pm with slight use on the day, i tried charging the cellphone while eating, so i left it charging in the car and when i returned the phone was hot and not charging. Im really confused
    Things i know>
    1. its not the car charger, its charging other BB fine and its original accesory
    2. Its not the lighter in my car cause i also charge other phones
    please advice

I too am on my second torch in 8 days. I am also having a problem with the car charger. The lightning bolt goes off while charging, especially when I am using AT&T Navigator. The second phone is not as bad as the first one was, but I don't know how well it will do in the weeks to come.
I had this same problem with my original AT&T Blackberry, the 8900. In that case, a battery swap solved the problem. With the Torch, I really don't know what is going on, but this is a serious problem because I use the AT&T Navigator all the time in my business and I have to keep my battery charged.
I hope Blackberry recognizes that there IS a problem and fixes it.

Any ideas I'm pulling my hair out !!!

Seems to be a hardware issue and you'll have to get it checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider, an Apple Store , to see if other 3rd party charger will work at their place.

  • Car Dock Charging problem?

My car dock does a great job of holding my Droid X in place in my car. However, whenever I connect an auto charger to the car dock (with the Droid X in the dock, of course), it never charges the Droid X at all. When I connect the auto charger directly to the Droid X, it always charges just fine.
Has anyone else had a problem with the auto charger working through the car mount?
Also, in case anyone cares, even though Google Maps Navigation is quite good, I find that I like VZ Navigator much more. My only complaint is that it only gives you one verbal notification for each and any upcoming exits or turns. I would prefer several verbal notifications - such as one from two miles away, another from one mile away, another from .5 miles away, or something like that. Can anyone tell me whether Google Maps Navigation provides more or multiple verbal notifications for an upcoming exit turn on a highway, for instance? Either way, if I could only hear any such notification with a louder volume for the speaker on the Droid X, it would be great.
So, anyone else with a a charging problem through the car mount?
Also, anyone know which navigation program provides more verbal notifications for upcoming turns in case you did not hear the first one?

I have the same problem with not charging while in the car dock.  I've used the dock 3 times now, and had problems on 2 of them.  On both occasions, it was originally charging and working on the car's power.  After a couple of hours, the phone quit charging, and drained down to 10% power before I reallize there was a problem.  I found the phone to be extremely hot, and the phone woljuld not charge either in the car dock, or connected directly to the charging cord.  Once the phone cooled down, it began charging again.  It appears the battery is overheating; perhaps from the heat of the sunlight coming through the windshield?

  • 2-GB iPod nano: car charger problem

My second generation nano will not charge from the car charger, while it charges well from USB. I know the charger is fine (identical nano works with this charger). Any ideas? Is it broken?

    > What are the specs of the "12V" car charger?
Well... The usual: 12V input from the cigarette lighter and 12V output to iPod connector.
    > HOW is the problem "INSIDE" the iPod since the power
presented across the connector MUST conform to what
the iPod expects regardless of whether it started as
    12V/5V or 115V AC...
Another (but same model) iPod works (with THIS charger) just fine - that is HOW.
BTW, and what exactly does iPod expect?

  • ZEN VISION:M CHARGING PROBLEM - H

[color="#ff0000"]ZEN VISION:M MP3 PLAYER CHARGING PROBLEM?My MP3 player was charging perfectly for the first 4 weeks of its life with me. I usually charged using the USB port on my computer. When connected, the player would come to life and the CHARGING ICON would appear and flash until the unit was fully charged and the CHARGED ICON would come on. Worked well. Now when I connect the player to the computer, instead of the CHARGING ICON coming on, the unit immediately begins playing music or going to the last mode it was in before being shut down previous to connecting for charging.
I have tried a reset of the whole player but that did not make any difference. I?encounter the same problem when connecting the player to the car?charger/power adapter. Can anyone give me some assistance? Cure? Thanks,? David B.

  • GNEX doesn't charge in my car

I have recently started having issues with my GNEX charging in the car.  I purchased the phone in January 2012 and have had no issues other than battery life which I purchased the factory Samsung 2100 series battery to help with.  About one month ago the phone stopped charging in any of my vehicle charging ports when using the Samsung charger.  I noticed that if I wiggled the cord at the micro USB port connection I would occasionally get confirmation of the lightening bolt that the phone was charging.  I thought that it was the USB cord so I replaced it with a new one that I has purchased from ZAGG as well as a new ZAGG charger.  No dice, so I returned the charger but kept the cord.  I then tried my original Samsung plug with the ZAGG cord, again it wouldn't charge.  I then tried my Samsung cord with a new SCOCSHE charging plug, finally it worked, or so I thought, it showed charging for about 2 minutes and then actually quit charging.  I took it to my local cellular repair shop and they said it was a broken MICRO USB port so I paid them $65 to repair it.  I plugged it back into my car and immediately it showed it was charging, only to last about 2 minutes again and quit charging.  I have gone thru all my apps and uninstalled anything that I installed in the last 2 months and there has been no change.  I have also plugged it into my wife's car and it does the same thing. I have not done a factory reset on the phone because I don't want to lose everything I have on it.  There is no water damage to the phone at all.  I have insurance thru Verizon/Assurion what are my options?  I have to have a working charged phone for my work.
    Thanks
    Philip

Thanks for sharing so many details about this problem and what you've done to attempt to remedy the situation Philip68. It looks like you've done quite a bit to determine this isn't an issue with the charger itself or your car. Do you know how long this has been going on? I'm not showing a recent software update. Do you notice if this started after a previous update? I saw from the other thread you replied on that some people said the phone charges while off. Do you notice the same thing? If you go to Settings, Battery and then plug in the phone? What does it show as the status?

  • Lumia 830 cannot charge correctly with car charger...

    Guys,
I have tried everything; new charging plates, car window charger replaced and even a hard reset if the phone. The simple fact is that the L830 will not charge when clipped into the holder. If the phone is moved around a little it will make a connection ok. In the normal way when placed in the holder it will simply not begin charging. And no, the phone is not fully charged!

    Thank you Blu2t,
I am absolutely sure that the phone is cradled correctly.. but I will try and turn the ensemble into a horizontal position tonight on the way home. Also I would say that I have had the cradle replaced just at the weekend past becasue I thought it was at fault. I now have the CR-201. I have had the phone sitting in the cradle tight against the CR plate and no charging. Then, if I pull the base of the phone away from the CR plate and more towards  the NFC lip (at this position there is a small gap between the phone and the cradle at the bottom) then it will charge but only for say 3 or 4 minutes then it stops charging again. Also when all of this is happening the phone lights up then goes out again, this could happen 4 or 5 times during a 30 minute journey. It finally stops charging and I can see no glance screen then at all.  This is how I first saw the problem., the phone screen would light up for no apparent reason. And I know it only usually lights up when the power is taken away from charging.
Will let you know how I get on tomorrow but I dont hold much hope. I believe the coils are just not in the exactly right position for CR charging. All my other plates are working fine.
And... finally.. I have a CR-201 in another vehicle and it has the same problem. My previous 720 with plate worked prefectly. Hope we can find solution becasuse I really need charging in my car :-)

  • Help-Charging problem with MicroPh

Hi,I bought a USB Power Adaptor which connects to the Mains supply and provides a USB interface for charging USB devices. I connected my Zen MicroPhoto' USB cord to this adaptor and set it ON for charging. The battery icon on the player showed charging, but till hours of keeping the charging ON, the player was not charged. I was wondering if the player can only be charged through a computer!!!Please advise... Mayank

To both of you guys heres is the deal:?First of all Im not a pro in? Computers or mp3s or electrician... But I want to help cause if it wasnt for the help I get from forums/the Internet I wont be writing this right now. I have to say that this forums are the WORST I have ever seen for Customer Support and even between the Users, Like yesterday I saw this post in wich this guy was asking for some kind of help("knowlage") and this other guy who replied was with this attitude like "READ THE MANUAL"... thats BS I say. I would like to change that kind of attitude from some of the users of this Forums(they know who they are:smileytongue. Guys, you know we are alone in THIS. You get the classic "Robot" like response from some of the Mods wich some of you guys expect them to help us solve our problems with our mp3s. I dont. And yet some of you appears to me that?dont care?to ?give a guy a hand with their problems. Come on guys lets be more cooperati've and help each another,ok?Now about that charging problem, you didnt gave a link for the adapter or a link for the picture of it but with the description you gave me I can picture it on my head. When I was looking for an adapter for my ZMP I too looked at those kind of power adapter/charger you both mentioned. But I was not confident about those so I went for a creative one from JR.com but then after I placed my order with them I went to Ebay and found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Creative-Lab...QQcmdZViewItem??

  • E90 - charging problem

    Hello:
I have an E90 which I was pretty happy, before until it started malfunctioning.
If I put it on charge, the screen says it is charging but never gets charged. On giving this to a Nokia care center in Bangalore, they flashed it twice thinking software problem but problem persisted.
Last week, I gave it to another Nokia care center for the same problem. Now they have come back saying they cannot repair it!
They have no idea as to how it can be repaired.
I got a new battery and a charger but still the same problem persists.
    Any inputs/comments?

That doesn't surprise me from a developing country, where it's difficult to get competent personelle.
I don't have a charging problem myself, my handset usually takes a couple of hours or so to get a full charge & it should be good for 3 days of use.

  • MicroUSB charging problems

There are several problems with microUSB charging (affecting N86 8MP, N97, 6500 and possible others..?)
    - I charge my phone connected to a PC USB port with the supplied CA-101 cable. But using the same cable connected to a USB power only port does not charge my phone. Why?
    - The original microUSB 12v car charger DC-6 is only compatible with a selection of the Nokia phones using microUSB charging. Why?
    - Several people are reporting switching to other chargers than the original Nokia ones to sort out charging trouble (solved the issue by buying a charger meant for a blackberry, bought a "generic" car charger from a phone shop in a service station on the M5, All u need to do is buy the phone S4U micro usb charger)
    - Symbian Applications issued a warning not to use the CA-146C charger adapter as it's reported to get warm and even melt http://symbianapplications.info/n97-charging-warning-beware-of-using-supplied-ca-146c-with-oldstyle-...
    - Handing my DC-11 unit to a Nokia care center for repair, they tell me that they have seen lots of various charging problems lately...
Other microUSB charging problems to share?
Will a SW update fix these ??

I hope its just a FW-bug or something that nokia will fix in the next firmwareupdate.
