Charging while in recovery mode???

I am sorry if this has been answered before. I cannot seem to find an answer to this exact question ANYWHERE!
I am having a heck of a time with my iPod Touch right now. Everything is irrelevant until I can actually get it to turn on, though. It had all of a sudden gone unresponsive on me but that is not the main issue. The battery went to dead through all of my trying to figure out how to fix it. It wasn't even being recognized in iTunes at all. Now, iTunes recognizes it, but the Touch gives a low battery icon for a few minutes and then shows the (USB w/ arrow to iTunes) recovery icon. At this time, I get the "restore your iPod in recovery mode" message in iTunes. When I start the restoration, it goes through the process, as if all is well. The very last bit, where it says something like, "preparing iPod for..." I am seeing the low battery icon on my iPod screen again and it takes way too long and, finally, I get the message that says, "cannot restore, etc."
Anyway, I just have the feeling that this all has to do with the battery needing to "get over the hump," so to speak, so it has enough juice to endure the rehab that I am trying to put it through. (Poor little guy!) I seem to be able to keep it in the recovery mode, while plugged in and without doing anything for a long time. It stays on that way but, I want to know if it is even charging in this mode, since I have no icon battery indicator to tell me.
Please, help and thank you!

It is already in restore mode and your data is already lost. Anything that you have done since the last backup is lost. You can restore to your last backup after restoring the phone.

  • Iphone will not respond after trying to put it into DFU mode while in recovery mode.

I tried to restore my iphone 4 and recieved error 21 in itunes, while in recovery mode I tried to put it into DFU mode and then it turned off and wont turn back on or be recognized by itunes or pc. I tried doing a hard reset and no luck. HELP PLEASE!!!!!

That does happen.  It depends on how hard the server is being hit, as well as the connection speed of your system.  If you are on a windows system, you will want to disable any antivirus or firewall software during the download.

  • Get files while in recovery mode

My macbook pro has crashed and as a result I can only boot the recovery partition. I'm wondering if there is a way to transfer my files from my hard drive to a flash drive while in recovery mode. It is a 13' macbook pro that was running lion. Thanks.

I would do that but the iPod doesn't show up in iTunes at all it just says those drivers are loaded. Won't shot up in My Computer or in the device manager part of Manage --> My Computer.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Retrieving media (pics/photos) while in Recovery mode?

I was updating my iPhone 3GS 3.1.3 to the new iOS4 operating system. Half way through, my iTunes locked up, and my phone went into Recovery mode on it's own. I had synced my phone before the upgrade attempt, so no worries there. However, there were some video and pics of my son that I hadn't backed up and wanted to try to retrieve before doing the restore (from my understanding, the restore will wipe the videos and pics off the phone). Anyone know if this is possible? Or are the pics and videos lost forever? (which would really be upsetting since I've really had no issues with the phone up until now)...

Alright, I'm guessing no one knows this answer, which I expected because I could find nothing on the web providing support, which is why I posted here to begin with.
I guess here's my next questions.
    1. Is there any way to retrieve the pictures through the backup that iTunes performs prior to syning the iPhone?
    2. Is there any way for the technicians in the Apple stores have the ability to somehow technically reset the iPhone to take it out of recovery mode and salvage the media on the iPhone?
I'm trying to cover all of my options before I give up on the media and attempt the restore.
    Thanks.

  • While on recovery mode itunes says it cannot connect to my iphone and to enter my passcode, what do i do then?

i turned on my iphone holding the home button and connected it to my computer, on the screen it said connect to iTunes. iTunes then opened up on my computer and I pressed start recovery mode. on the top it started loading 1 item, half ways through the download it said iTunes could not connect to my iphone because of the passcode and I must enter it before I can connect with iTunes. I cannot enter my passcode because my iphone says disabled and to connect to iTunes, I also do not know my password.

Place the iPOo in recovery mode for the passcode issue. For recovery mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • TS3694 Phone is only showing apple logo over & over again.. While in recovery mode, restoring in iTunes ended up getting error "2001" I've tried to see if I had the up-to-date iTunes software (11.0.1) & i do.

I'm having an issue with my phone not wanting to restore. It was perfectly fine yesterday then it wouldn't turn on ( so I assumed that I had maybe resetted the phone) while trying to seperate my animals. I can get to the connect to iTunes screen, but after I downloaded the iPhone software to be installed, let it run it's course, and then went home. I had to get back to the connect to iTunes screen so I got back to that screen to hopefully install the software and instead I ended up getting "error 2001", looked at Apple's resolutions for that specific error and found that my iTunes is in fact up to date. I don't know where to go from here. Please help!

    I'm adding more information:
in Finder, my iMovie folders are all visible and accessible.  When I click on a clip from iMovie Events folder, Quicktime opens and plays the clip.  ALL my video is not missing - it just isn't showing up in the Event Library!
This happened all of a sudden, while I was working on iMovie project (on both computers).
All my Projects are intact, and play when I open them.

  • HT4718 Is it possible to back up files onto an external hard drive while in internet recovery mode?

This morning, upon starting up my MacBook, I was greeted with the lovely gray screen. I'm in internet recovery mode and have attempted to repair my disk, but it's too damaged according to the disk utility. So, I'm going to have to reinstall OS X Lion. I'm worried about losing my files and bought a 500gb external hard drive in hopes that I can back up my files while in recovery mode and then erase and reinstall the operating system
Any help would be much appreciated!

There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to fully boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot into Recovery (command-R at startup; 10.7 or later), from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup; 10.7.2 or later), or from your installation disc (C key at startup; 10.6.8 or earlier.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in the support article linked below, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
How to back up and restore your files
    2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode by holding down the key combination command-T at the startup chime. Connect the two Macs with a FireWire or Thunderbolt cable. The internal drive of the machine running in target mode will mount as an external drive on the other machine. Copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
