Charging with silicone case?

Is it really a problem if charging the ipod mini in the silicone case? There's a slot for it at the bottom to plug in the cord, but looking at the ipod site, it says not to charge when it is in a cover or case. It is just a hassle to take off the silicone case, so whats wrong with charging with the case?

sometimes the iPod can heat up while charging and leaving it in a case increases the risk of higher internal temperatures...just a precaution.

can the Charge with a case fit in the Samsung media dock? or do I have to take the case off?
    thanks!

    Dear SandraW,
Of course, there are may cases out there for the Charge but I would have to say generally, no. I have the desk dock and it looks like the Charge fits very snugly into the dock, and that the seat molded into the dock for the phone is an exact match for the side profile of the Charge.
I have the shell/holster case for the Charge that is standard VZW accessory, and having the Charge in the shell portion of the case would prevent it from docking.
I do have a Skin-It skin on the back of the phone, and this does NOT prevent docking.

  • [solved]Anybody ever had a problem with a case making it difficult to charge?

I purchased a gently used ipod 4g from eBay.  I was pretty thrilled with it. It was still new enough to have some limited warranty time left.  Dec 23.  I experimented with different apps for a couple of days.  I had to recharged it once.  No problem.   I purchased a gel case with a screen protector, so it didn't get it scratched, or beat up.  I set it up and it was looking pretty nice.  It was a clear gel case so it didn't alter the look at all.  I installed some more apps and read some ipod tutorials.  I installed mo gv app and found I had an iphone 4 with a free cell phone contract.  I needed a second charge. I plugged it into my wall outlet adapter..  After 4 hours nothing.  I changed the wall outlet.  After 4 hours nothing.  I thought I was having a cord problem because my ipod would neither charge nor mount as a flash drive on my computer usb port.  I googled ipod trouble shooting and was advised to do the things that I had done & 1)reset it, and if that didn't work  2)buy a new cord.  If that didn't work, use the apple limited warranty and get them to fix or replace.   I did 1) and 2).  Nothing.  I was very desperate and getting ready to send it back to apple.  Then it struck me that the only thing that had changed physically to the ipod since I last charged was putting on the case.  I wondered if the case was interfering in some way.  I took it off and put on the cord and plugged into the old wall adapter outlet.  This worked, now my ipod is charged.  I also found that I could charge with the case on if I pulled the front of it up a little before putting on the cord.  Problem fixed.
I guess I am writing this hoping it might save someone else the aggravation of sending an ipod to get if fixed only to be told there is nothing friggen wrong with it.  Maybe this should be added to the online troubleshooters?.

    Richard,

  • Charging With Case

I know it says don't charge with case, but I had a questions about it. I have a new case for it, the iskin ev Arctic for the 80 gb, and it has an opening at the bottom of it to easily charge. Not only that but it has 4 "vents" at the back, around 50 holes, and I take it those are there to let it cool off while it charges. Not only that but it has two little pegs so the ipod isn't completely lying flat and on the pegs it says don't remove.
After 5 generations of ipods/cases I'm sure they got it right, right? So is it fine charging it with it on?
The picture is here if you want to see before judging. http://www.iskin.com/eVo3/index.tpl?cart=11704935401047219 Scroll then Look at "a gripping performance" and "breathe easy" Btw, I've charged it three times with it on so far and I've gotten around 17 hours battery life still.
Here's a better picture showing the holes. http://www.ilounge.com/assets/images/reviews_iskin/evo3/i2.jpg

Thanks. I'll start doing that then. Here's another picture if anyone wants to see the holes closer up (I have a white one btw)

This case is even sold on this site, and even says you don't have to take it off while syncing or charging. Hmm.... I just really want to know if its safe and if my ipod will overheat, because I do frequently check.
One more thing, its made out of silicon. Sorry, I wanted picture evidence to make you have a good idea of what it looks like.

  • Car charger doesn't fit with bumper case!!!!!!!!!

    Hi
Just got my new bumper case on the free offer and it look great BUT my car charger doesn't fit with the case on ( I have tried 2 different types)
    The house charger fits fine.
The car chargers were bought of the net, will I need one form the apple store to get it to work.
Has anyone esle had this problem?
This is my first I phone and its brilliant but this case fiasco is annoying!!!!
    Cheers Sandy

    Hi,
This is an unfortunate fact. Some aftermarket products don't fit. I have an iTrip and I had to modify the plug to fit in. Simple with a dremel tool. File will work too. Cheaper than buying a new charger/FM transmitter.

  • Need a silicone case with screen protector for Zen Mi

Anyone seen a silicone case like the ones on ebay for the zen micro, but one that has a screen protector like the iSkins do? I need a case, the vaja are way too expensi've and I don't want anything bulky like the leather cases I've seen.

One more option: I have read and seen all of the case posts and had decided on the pdaen leather belt pouch, because it has a flip over snapable face protection with total accessability otherwise. Then I was working outside one day and it was raining slightly so I started using small plastic bags--ziplock and another which is like the bag at the grocery store that you put your produce in. I make a tiny incision for the jack and either tie or zip the open end. This works so well that I am no longer looking for a bag of any kind. It keeps out the dirt and more importantly, moisture, and it gives me exactly the same access as I had before I wrapped it-- touchpad and all. Not at all stylish, I know, just practical and functional.

  • Which silicone case will fit new ipod 160gb?

which silicone case is currently available and will fit new ipod classic160GB?  Is the size compatible with any previous ipod model?

It has a dock connector so it should play music fine. But the new iPods only charge on 5 volts (the older ones could charge on 5 or 12). If your speakers charge with 12 volts they will not charge the new iPods.
A lot of devices charge at 12 volts (even Apples own Hi-Fi) but most companies seem to be keeping this secret, if you are lucky there will be an FAQ on the company website that will tell you if it's compatible with the iPhone G3 (the first 5v only device).

  • 2nd Gen Shuffles charge with power adapter, not seen at all by computer

I have three Gen 2 Shuffles (mine and kids), and am having same problem with all three.
If I plug them into either of our home computers - an iMac and a brand  new Macbook Pro - they don't even seem to be recognized at all by the computer as even being plugged in, nor will they charge. The orange light flashes on for a split second when I plug in the USB cord, then goes out.  Nothing else happens.  I have two USB cords - same with both.
If I plug the same USB cords into the power adapter and plug into the wall outlet - all three iPods charge, with either cord.  So the cords seem to be working fine.
If I plug the USB cord into my work PC - a Dell that doesnt' even have iTunes on it -- the computer recognizes the iPod as a disk.  I've done this many times for many years to charge it at work if it was low, with no problems.  And I haven't plugged the kids' into my work computer.
I am pulling my hair out here. I've read about others with a similar problem -- but in those cases at least the iPod seemed to be communicating with the mac, but not showing up in iTunes.  In my case, I can't even get anything to happen!!
    Would really appreciate any advice.
Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with 10.5.8, and Macbook Pro bought last week with OS-X Lion.

    Nobody has any ideas?

  • Freight charge with tax in sales order

    Hi all
my company must implement a particular management of freight charges:
in some cases to the customer sales order my company, a part the product cost, add the freight charges (made by a carrier vendor which will send after a vendor invoice to my company) to item value, but these aren't managed like overprice to product cost, but as a true service sales with how proper VAT tax.
    At example:
I sell to customer A the product B with unit price 100 and quantity 10 (net value for product 1000) and VAT for product 10% (total value with tax 1100). We add a freight charge (estimated) of 200 euro (net value 1000 + 200 = 1200) with own proper tax percentage (example 20%). The total document value will be 1000 (product net) + 200 (freight charge) + 100 (vat 10% over 1000) + 40 (vat 20% over 200) = 1340 euro with two different VAT tax code.
You know if exist something in the standard for manage this or I must play with the normal conditions?
    thanks
    Davide

    Dear ,
Please check the Variant assigned to Sales document type in Tcode: VOV8 and select the document type being used
and click on detail tab and check the variant field under Transaction Flow Tab.
And further check the Variant in Tcode: SHD0,if the field is grayed out.

  • Free of charge with internal tax (not to customer)

    Hi,
I have a problem with the case of free of charge items.
I have order OR and item category TANN. I need for legal requirements to book the VAT for that item internally and not to the customer.
    Can anyone help on that?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
this can be solved by having a separate static ocndition type on which the tax is to be calculated only in the case of TANN.
The total  of the condition type should not fall within the total of pricing as the same will be considered for the Free of charge deduction also.
This does not require any requirement or alt.cond.type but it wil be effective if you have one as your requirement is that the VAT amount should not be posted to customer account.
    Regards,
    S.Balaji.

  • Will iPad 2 silicone cases fit new iPad (3rd gen)?

I have preordered the new iPad and would like to have a case ready for it when it arrives next week.  I was looking on eBay and they have soft silicone cases for iPad 2 and I was wondering if they would fit the new iPad.  They have some stretch so I don't think it would be a problem, but I would like to hear some opinions.  Thanks.

I'm a case ho. I try them all. We're talking a 0.6 mm difference in depth. I just looked at a ruler to see how small 0.6 mm really is. Not much.
I'm sure some cases will fit without a hitch. Any case with really tight tolerances will probably have problems. Only time will tell. When My iPad 3 arrives, I've got several cases from the iPad 2 to try out.

  • Which silicone case to buy for Nano???

    Hi,
I just received a brand new iPod Nano from Apple. I had one earlier but got it replaced because of faulty display. I am still keeping this one in wrappings because the first one scratched insanely easy...
So this time I will buy a case. Which one should I buy? Does the Ipod Nano tubes sold in applestore protect the display as well? If you know a good silicone cover that protects the display as well, please let me know.

I use the ezskin by ezgear, it is a silicone case with a hard screen protector. It works great. It has a belt clip(like the ones on cell phones) it is removable. It also comes with two lanyards, one that is for the wrist and one for the neck. I really use my Nano. It is not a show piece, but a thing that I really enjoy listening to music on. I put it from day one in the case. I have never taken it out of the case and could not tell you if the body is scratched. I did scratch the heck of the hard screen protector, I am waiting for displex, but for now am using a pda protector. It is working fine. As I said I really use it, at least hard enough to scratch the heck out of the hard screen protector. I only took that off, because I wanted to try the pda protector. I could always read my play lists and even see my photos. So I really recomend this case. But I have heard great things about the duo. Just put it in the case and ignore all the scratch mongers. When you use it for what it is intended and just give it the care of a case it is an awesome tool to be used and enjoyed. Hope this helps. P.s. my wife has the same case in black for her black Nano. She is much easier on hers and her screen protector looks like new and she loves it.

  • I question for the people's out there who have the silicone case for the Micro, aka Rhino Sk

I have the silicone case too, aka Rhino skin.
what i was wondering, do you us the black belt clip that comes with it's
the reason i ask is because i used it once just to try it out. it seems like when ever you press down on it so you can clip it to your side, It's like it is putting to much pressure on the micro battery cover. what do you think? do you use you belt clip that came with your silicone case?
also i ended up with some fresh scratches.
do you use your belt clip that came with your rhino case?

Umm, well, I have a silicone case, but it didn't come with a belt clip, unless your talking about the hardcase that came with the micro.
If that's what your'e reffering to, no, I don't do that. I tried putting it in after it was in the silicone case, but once I saw that it didn't fit in directly and that I would have to add pressure, I didn't bother. I keep my Zen Micro in the silicone case, and then I put them in an altoids box. I have some soft cusion thingy on the inside of the lid so that my screen won't scrath, and I drilled a hole on the side of the altoids case for headphone/usb jack.
