Charging Zen V plus Batter

Hey?I got my creative zen v plus a couple of days ago and im new to all this sort of thing, i was just wondering if like a mobile phone it is better for the zen if you dont charge it up untill its completely flat as it will make battery life last longer, or if it doesnt matter being charged even when its half full. Thanks for any help.

Yeap your better now giving mobile phones and Zens plenty of top ups after you initial battery priming, SSR did do a guide of priming you battery, something to do with a definite empty and definate full conditions, then regular top ups when ever you can.

when I plug the Zen Stone Plus into the computer via the USB port, the LED light that blinks is blue (the manual says it's supposed to be orange) - does that matter also the icon representing of the amount of battery left in the player is constantly at 20% on the Creative Media Lite program (downloaded from uk creative website) no matter how long I charge it, and the low battery sign is always shown on the player display even after unplugging. Otherwise, the mp3 player does not show signs of being charged. How can I charge it'sthanks

U can check the accessories and see that whether the charger is the same...by the way i would like to ask u how many hours for u to charge ur zen stone pluz

  • Charging ZEN V Plus with Playdock

Got my wife a ZEN V Plus for Christmas. She loves it. I had my name on a list to be called when the Playdock 500s became available. Got the call about 0 days ago. Ordered it and received it yesterday. It sounds great. The problem is it appears it is not charging the ZEN. I updated the ZENs firmware but the battery is still falling. I now this is pretty new but does anyone have any info on this? Thanks

I have the same exact problem with?my Zen Vision?M 30g and my Playdock z500?that I just received from Amazon on May, 3st. It absolutely does not change my mp3 player, nor will it maintain a power level?and as a matter of fact the battery drains like it normally would while being used on it's own battery power. When I plug it in to the dock?a power cord?icon comes on in the top right hand corner showing that it's on external power but the lighting bolt icon does not come on as if it's charging. If you play it continuously while docked and you undock the mp3 playert the battery will be totally dead. Also, I was watching a 3 hour video last night and the battery died while docked and it wouldn't continue to play the video even though it was in the docking station and powered on. It kept sort of like re-booting because the battery?was dead. I'm not real happy with this and will be sending it back if there is no fix for this. Anyone else having this problem?

  • Charging Zen V Plus with travel char

My Zen V Plus charges fine through the USB charger. It will no longer charge on a regular AC (travel) charger which it used to. When I plug in the charger it turns the device on and does not charge. Any help out there. Again, this is new, did charge through charger. Thanks, Bob

This has been discussed a few times on here. If the charger you're using is not a Creative one or a 'modified' standard charger, the player will appear to charge but not actually take any power. The player will turn on and off like it's charging but nothing actually happens. Creative have added a few extra components inside their charger that the player tries to recognise when you connect. Depending on the firmware version you can mod a standard charger quite easily to work with the Zen V+. Do a search for charging problems and you'll see quite a few people have had the same problem.

  • Deactivate USB charge zen v plus: is it possib

Hello everybody, I've a zen V plus player and I would charge it only with AC adapter; is possible deactivate USB charge? This question because I connect zen to the pc a lot of times and I think the battery can damage very quickly. Thanks

  • Trouble With Charging Zen Xtra's Batt

A question similar, but still different to this one has already been asked, but i am still lost.
After I was finally able to install everything, and even get songs on the Zen, i realized that my battery wasn't charging properly. I plug it into the wall and i just get the lower left hand corner (the battery power indicator) message that it is running on electrical power only. After a while it does an idle shut down, but i think when it is shut down it stops charging. I charged it over night and the next day only had two bars of power, which ran out after a two hour car ride. Is there any secret to charging i am ignorant of? Please help, it would be very helpful. :smileyindifferent:

    Hi,
I had the same problem. I tried to charge the battery but the mains icon would only come up, and not the lightning bolt that shows it is charging.
I ended up buying another battery, as i thought the first one was defecti've. The same thing happened with this one. (I thought it was to do with the fact I hadn't regularly used my player, and hence the battery had failed)
I saw a post for checking the player's HD and re-setting the machine (as just posted in last few posts in this thread) and it worked!
Now my player works and charges with not problems at all

  • Problems charging Zen V Plus

Can charge fine via USB connected to PC.
Have purchased generic USB mains adaptor to charge device away from home.
Problem is every time I put USB connector via mains charger into player it 'powers' up, I cannot switch it off.
Is there a way of turning off player so that it charges?
Or does the player only recognise a creative charger?
    Help!!!

    Hi,
my brother had the same problem with a Zen MicroPhoto. He'd purchased it from the high street and got a generic mains to USB socket converter, he connected from the Adaptor to the zen with the supplied usb cable, and it never charged the Zen.
I got him a creative charger from Ebay and that works fine.
I think that the creative charger probably puts a voltage onto one of the data pins (or something like that) to let the Zen know that it's bee plugged into a charger, bit dodgy IMHO, if there's power on the usb socket - it should charge.
Something that can be addresses in a FW upgrade Perhaps?

    Here is some information:

The tips about always fully discharging your battery are all old. Modern lithium ION batteries usually have a MTBF of 300 cycles so if you fully discharge it 300 times then its worn out. Full discharges are only needed to calibrate the time remaining prediction, discharging fully all the time is the worst thing you can do for it. Removing the battery does no good unless your laptop is of a poor design that runs too hot, any modern laptop turns off the charge once the battery is at 00%, but some laptops with poor thermal designed will keep the battery too warm which can result in a decreased life. Also remember that lithium ION batteries have a finite shelf life anyway so every year of its age it looses some of its life so basically its going to wear out in a 3 years no matter how well you treat it. Thats the trade-off we get for pushing the technology. Newer Lithium Ion batteries are starting to come out rated with 500 cycle li'ves now so its improving gradually.

  • Zen Nano Plus batt

Can you recharge it through the USB port? Or do i have to waste hundreds of swedish crownes on batteries?

No, you want a decent charger and high capacity NiMH rechargeables.
Or a different player that supports chargeing via USB, but those often use proprietary and/or non-replaceable batteries, making you pay extra that way (i.e. sooner or later you will have to buy a new proprietary battery IF it's still available, or a new player if it isn't/can't be replaced).

  • ZEN V PLUS - Depleted Batte

I bought a Creative Zen V Plus (pink version)?for my neice for her birthday on 7-2-2007. She only used it a few times and then it stopped working. Recently I was wondering why i haven't seen her using it so i asked her. She told me that it hasn't been working for a while. So i had her bring it o me to see what the problem is. I am a little familiar with the Creative MP3 players because i have the Zen M 30gb and i also purchased 2 more ZEN M 30gb for my brother and sister and also a Zen V Plus (black and green) for my nephew. So as you can tell i love the Creative brand. I am not sure what is wrong with my neice's Zen V Plus. When i try to turn it on it won't turn on. So i plug it into the computer using the USB cable that it came with. Here is what it does when i connect it to the computer.
    1. Blue leds lights up under the play button.
    2. Then the blue leds turns off and then turns back on.
    3. Then the led flashes again and then my computer detects the mp3 player and ask if i want to sync.
    4. I click No for syncing.
    5. Then the mp3 screen shows the battery on low with the red chunck on the battery. Then the red chunck turns green and then the battery starts to ncrease to /4 full then half full then 3/4 full then it shows the completely full battery icon/symbol ***All this happens within less than minute.***
    6. Then the blue leds turns off and the battery image on the screen disappears.
    7. The icon on my computer shows that the mp3 player has been disconnected.
    8. I push a button on the mp3 player to see if it is still on. When i do that the full battery icon appears along with the blue leds.
    9. I goto the side and turn the player on and then the screen turns on then goes to the docked icon.
    0. As i wait a little bit the screen turns off and then the blue leds turns on again and flashes (showing me that it's charging).
. Then after a few seconds of blue led flashing, the leds turns off and stops flashing.
    2. I push scroll button again to see if it's still on, and it is.
    3. I then goto support page to update the firmware. I follow the processes as stated on?Creative site and completed the update successfully.
    4. The player restarts after firmware update, and computer lets you know that update is successful, but it still won't turn on.
    5. It does exact same thing as it did before. I repeat steps -2. Same things occur.
    6. When i unplug the USB from the mp3 player it turns off immediately. i press the play button with the USB connected to make the screen turn on and then unplugg the USB to see what would happen and it also shuts off immediately.
    7. I have also tired letting it stay connected to the USB over night and over the weekend with my computer staying on. Hoping that it might charge up?but still nothing.?I contacted Creative and they gave me a few things to try that i have already tried and still no luck. The last option in that list of things to try was to request a RMA (which basically consists of me paying $25.00 for them to diagnose the problem because i only have the 2months hardware manufactures warranty left) in which i am hesitant to pay for because it seems to be a commmon defect in the ZEN V and ZEN V Plus. I have been reading around and it seems like the problem?might be that?the battery might be on the verge of being dead or is completely depleted. I have read alot about people with similar symptoms with their players and it seems to be very common with the battery.?My neice probably only used it less than 5 times. And its been sitting in her room for months because she didn't know what to do with it because it stopped working. My little nephew's ZEN V Plus i acting up also. He says it's not working again. So I will be taking a look at it sometime this week too. I?tried being as detailed as possible so that u guys can better understand the situation. Hopefully someone knows a fix to this and help me fix it without having to cough up another $25.00 PLUS SHIPPING AND TAX to have then take a look. But i can't resolve the problem within the next week or so then i guess i will have to send it in.

  • Zen Stone Plus Charg

Good day! I have a problem with my Creative Zen Stone Plus unit. The battery does not get a full charge and according to my Creative Media Lite, it's only 20% or so full. However, when I turn the player display on, it indicates that the charging is already complete (blinking blue LED and a plug sign instead of the lightning sign). In turning the product on, it reads that the player only has two bars? left and then turns to one bar after just 5 minutes of playback. This is crazy since I charge it as sson as the battery indicator reaches one bar. So obviously, it isn't charging. I've already installed the new firmware, resetting and formatting the player, and everything else that I could think of I've already tried them. Went through the messages in this site and all I can see are problems with their own players and no worthwhile solution from the Creative Tech team. I went on as much as to locally look for the service provider of Creative here in the Philippines but they all seem to know less than myself regarding the product.
A side question and comment is if it would be better for my battery to run until there's no more bars in the indicator left (not necessarily drain it) or charge as soon as it hits one bar. The crazy thing is, I'm presumming with the hassle that it is producing, most probably the battery is not in its optimum condition anymore due to the trials that I have been doing to resolve this problem. The crazy thing is that the service provider I've been mentioning also told me that I can charge the player even when it is on, now reading the messages and from my stock knowledge I realized that what she did was irresponsible and utterly detrimental for my battery. This is such a sad condition considering that Creative is just building its name and they seem to be unable to provide a good customer support base for their clients.

    Not sure if this hel
    ps.
.. I had a similar issue with my new Zen Stone.... Following it's first charge (+3 hours), I used?the player?until the battery went 'flat' and it turned itself off... I tried to charge the player up several times?without success - Creative Media Lite continually reported the battery as having 7% charge - but this never improved... Prior to me taking it back to the store I bought it from, I did a 'reset' (paperclip hole on the top side)... Low and behold - the player started to charge up again....

  • Zen Stone Plus: does not charge/power on / isn´t reconized by my

Hi!?Bought a few days ago a zen stone plus but haven't tested it. Aboiut 2 weeks later I opened the boix and noticed the player does not charge, or power on and is not recognized by my pc as well...
What should I do? The shop where I bought it is about 600 km away from my home...
    Regards?

Try it on another PC if you can to be sure the player is having a problem, if it does the same there then I would advise contacting Customer Support so they can assist you.

  • Zen V Plus - Charging Prob

I've plugged my new Zen V Plus into my USB port, and the battery charging indicator has been flashing as expected. However, 9 hours later the battery indicator is only showing about a quarter charge. Any ideas? Thanks?Stompa?

You're right, I didn't have the driver. If it's not actually charging, then I'm a bit surprised that the battery indicator flashes (implying that it is charging).
