CHARM - diff between packages in file system vs sol man

Hi Experts,
We use CHARM to transport our Portal packages (e.g. EPA, KMC packages). My understanding is that these packages can be downloaded from the file system or through STMS in Solution manager.  However, we noticed that for the same transport requests, it contains different packages in file system than in solution manager, which is perplexing. E.g. PD3K90009X has 1 EPA file in Solution manager while we see 3 different EPA files in file system. 1 of the EPA file matches the 1 seen in solution manager, the other 2 we found, belong to other transport requests. Any idea why for the same transport, it would contain different packages in the file system than solution manager?
Thanks,
ZM

The problem was resolved and it was largely due to missing prerequisites although the system met the required SPS17 requirement.  The lesson learned here is that for newly built Sol Man 700 systems, it's best to do the basic configurations to get Maintenance Optimizer going so it can be used to select and download EHP1 packages.  The traditional SMP SWDC packages selector via identification of source and target releases didn't give the complete prerequisite packages for EHP1 SAINT import.

  • How to export SSIS package to File system in SQL Server 2012

    I am accessing SSIS package by connecting to a database engine. I wanted to export the SSIS to file system. How to get it done in sql server 2012? I tried Util utility , i got package not present. Let me know what other options are available to export to

    Mano

    Hi Mano,
    After exporting the project stored in a SSISDB catalog to an .ispac file, we can modify the extension .ispac to .zip, then, we can extract the zip file to get the .dtsx package files. Besides, please note that if there are project level connection managers
    or parameters, their definition cannot be exported to individual packages.

  • Difference between Web DAV, File system, simple web repositories

    Hello all,
       can somebody please tell when we use webdav, file system, simple web repositories and for what application swe use? And what are the differences between these three?
       What is a crawler? and Index in KM?
    Thanks in advance. I appreciate your help.
    //Raj.

    Hi Raj,
    As Kyle said in the last message, you can find the information you wanted in the SAP Help Portal.
    I have some experience on using the WebDAV and want to share with you. There is some bugs in WebDAV on renaming the document / folder for non-English language. So, don't use WebDAV for renaming file / folder under such environment. If you want to do so, you should better do so in the EP.

  • Diff. between Business service & Business system.

    Can anybody tell me what is the actual difference between Buss. service & system ? and in which case I should use either ? How can I differenciate this two ?
    Eg. 1. I am using Buss. system BS1 , than what/where this BS1 should  be ?  and 2. if am using Buss. service BS2 , than what/where this BS2 should  be ?
    Thanks.

    Hi
    Business Syatem:Business Systems
    Difference:Difference between Business System and Business Service
    Business Service
    1) You use a Business Service, when you do not have the System details of the the partner system to which you want to communicate. i.e. you have not configured the partner system in SLD.
    2) Business Service is an Absract Unit with Sender and Receiver Interfaces,In this case you need to explicitly add the message interfaces while doing configuration in ID.
    3) It is generally used for NON-SAP applications, this is just a general prinicple followed but not mandatory.
    4) This is not defined as part of SLD and whose technical parameters are not completely known.
    5)Business service is used when the message is not addressed to a business system. It is used mostly in B2B scenarios.
    Business systems:
    Business systems are logical systems, which function as senders or receivers within PI. Business systems can be SAP systems or third-party systems.
    Depending on the associated technical system, the following types of business systems are defined in the SLD:
    Web AS ABAP:
    A business system, which is associated with a Web AS ABAP.
    A business system, which is associated with a Web AS ABAP, can play the role either of an application system or an integration server. An integration server is the central component of PI, which provides a framework for the exchange of information among various internal and external entities of a company. The integration server facilitates the interaction between the different operating systems and applications across internal and external networks.
    Web AS Java:
    A business system, which is associated with a Web AS Java.
    Standalone:
    A business system, which is associated with a standalone Java application.
    Third-party:
    A business system, which is associated with a third-party technical system.
    Technical systems:
    Technical systems are application systems that are installed in your system landscape. An example of an application system is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) server. In the SLD, there are five types of technical systems:

  • Connecting satellite system through Sol Man

    Dear friends,
      I am working on Sol Man 4.0 SP 12.
    I have properly set the T-RFC roles to users in both satellite system as well  as in Sol Man system.
    Now i want to execute the transaction MM01 (creation of material master) from Sol Man. If i execute the transaction, i am getting the message that
    <b>"The new session will be created in SD1 system".</b>
    The SD1 system is my R/3 dev system. But the new session is not at all getting displayed.
    I could not find the reason. If there is a problem in RFC, system will clearly tell the message.
    Could anyone suggest me reason for this kind of system behaviour?
    Regards
    Senthil

    Dear Senthil,
    Have you defined any user for the RFC's specially the Trusted RFC ? If yes is it an Dialog user or an communication user ?
    Also does the userid in Satellite system have the authorization to execute MM01 ?

  • Diff between Project Landscape and System landscape

    Hai Gurus
    Explain the thread
    Thanks & Regards

    SAP LANDSCAPE:
    Landscape is like a server system or like a layout of the servers or some may even call it the architecture of the servers viz. SAP is divided into three different lanscape DEV, QAS and PROD.
    DEV would have multiple clients for ex: 190- Sandbox, 100- Golden, 180- Unit Test.
    QAS may again have mutiple clients for ex: 300- Integration Test, 700 to 710 Training.
    PROD may have something like a 200 Production.
    These names and numbers are the implementer's discreet on how they want it or they have been using in their previous implementations or how is the client's business scenario.
    Now whatever you do in the Sandbox doesn't affect the other servers or clients. Whenever you think you are satisfied with your configuration and you think you can use it moving forward, you RE-DO it in the golden client (remember, this is a very neat and clean client and you cannot use it for rough usage).
    As you re-do everything that you had thought was important and usable, you get a transport request pop up upon saving everytime. You save it under a transport request and give your description to it. Thus the configuration is transported to the Unit Test client (180 in this example).
    You don't run any transaction or even use the SAP Easy Access screen on the 100 (golden) client. This is a configuration only client. Now upon a successful tranport by the Basis guy, you have all the configuration in the Testing client, just as it is in the Golden client. The configuration remains in sync between these two clients.
    But in the Testing client you can not even access SPRO (Display IMG) screen. It's a transaction only client where you perform the unit test. Upon a satisfactory unit test, you move the good configuration to the next SERVER (DEV).
    The incorrect or unsatisfactory configuration is corrected in Golden (may again as well be practised in the sandbox prior to Golden) and accordingly transported back to 180 (Unit Test) until the unit test affected by that particular config is satisfactory.
    The Golden client remains the 'database' (if you wanna call it that) or you may rather call it the 'ultimate' reference client for all the good, complete and final configuration that is being used in the implementation.
    In summary:
    Landscape : is the arrangement for the servers
    IDES : is purely for education purpose and is NOT INCLUDED in the landscape.
    DEVELOPMENT ---> QUALITY -
    > PRODUCTION
    DEVELOPMENT : is where the the consultants do the customization as per the company's requirement.
    QUALITY : is where the core team members and other members test the customization.
    PRODUCTION : is where the live data of the company is recorded.
    A request will flow from Dev->Qual->Prod and not backwards.
    1. Sandbox server:
    In the initial stages of any implementation project, You are given
    a sandbox server where you do all the configuration/customization as per the companies business process.
    2. Development Server:
    Once the BBP gets signed off, the configuration is done is development server and saved in workbench requests, to be transported to Production server.
    3. Production Server:
    This is the last/ most refined client where the user will work after project GO LIVE. Any changes/ new develpoment is done is development client and the request is transported to production.
    These three are landscape of any Company. They organised their office in these three way. Developer develop their program in Development server and then transport it to test server. In testing server tester check/test the program and then transport it to Production Server. Later it will deploy to client from production server.
    Presentaion Server- Where SAP GUI have.
    Application Server - Where SAP Installed.
    Database Server - Where Database installed.
    What is the meaning of "R" in R/3 systems?
    R/3 stands for realtime three tier architecture. This is the kind of architrecture SAP R/3 system has.
    R/3 means three layers are installed in Different system/server and they are connected with each other.

  • [SOLVED] Find modified files from a package in local file system

    Is there a quick pacman command doing a diff between the local file system and a pacman package?
    Say I have installed a package foo and modified /etc/foo.conf. Now I want to find what's the difference between the file in my local file system and that in a clean package.
    If there's not a quick pacman command, what would you use in this case?

    Size difference does not always work!
    Lets say original conf file had two lines:
    Alert=true
    #Alert=false
    Now you changed it to:
    #Alert=true
    Alert=false
    So size will remain same!!
    So mod time is possibly better way to check!
    Right. Actually diff is the best way to check but doesn't seem to be there.

  • Where is the account to execute ssis in file system when run a job

    Hi
    I have a ssis package in file system, and create a job, in general... the section package:... select "File System".
    but it thrown: access denegate: the user should be administrator..
    what is the account or where is it, that use to run the job in agent, this is owner of the job?
    this is my configuration..
    http://blog.sqlauthority.com/2011/05/23/sql-server-running-ssis-package-in-scheduled-job/

    By default it would be the service account which SQLAgent uses
    You can see this from services properties
    for that go to start-> run
    type services .msc
    In local services window right click SQL Agent Service and check the properties and in LogOn tab you will see the account configured for it
    Most cases it would be network service account and in some cases local system account (if not in a domain)

  • Differences between application export files

    Hello
    Background: I want to check if an application in DEV environment is exactly the same as the one in TEST environment. Both envs have Apex version 3.0.0.00.20, on Oracle EE 10g. To do this, I exported the application from both environments and I am doing a DIFF between the export files.
    Problem: The DIFF tool is finding lots of differences like the one below:
    '   "PR_QUOTES"."HDU_NIGHT_CHARGE" "HDU_NIGHT_CHA';
    s:=s||'RGE", '||chr(10)||
    '   "PR_QUOTES"."INPATIENT_NIGHTS_ADJ" "INPATIENT_NIGHTS_ADJ", '||chr(10)||
    '   "PR_QUOTES"."HDU_NIGHT_CHARGE" "HDU_NI';
    s:=s||'GHT_CHARGE", '||chr(10)||
    '   "PR_QUOTES"."INPATIENT_NIGHTS_ADJ" "INPATIENT_NIGHTS_ADJ", '||chr(10)||As you can see, the only difference is at which point the SELECT statement was broken in the attribution statement.
    This makes the DIFF tool a bit pointless. Why does this happen? Any way to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Luis

    Hi Paul
    I am well, hope you too!
    Thanks for the reply; that comparison report works well when both applications are in the same workspace, which is not my case.
    Of course, I could import one of the applications in the other workspace and compare them there. I will do it as the last resort, but I am still curious about why the difference between the exports! :-)

  • Recurrent corrupt file system of internal hard disc

    Hi,
    on my MacBook Pro Late 08 I get some file system corruption over and over again. Normaly I would guess having a defect hard disc but I have already tried three different discs. The problem always comes back.
    I recognize the corruption by having multiple crashes of several applications (Firefox, iPhoto, iWorks, ....) having some exception type of EXCBADACCESS. This type seams to indicated that something cannot be read correctly anymore. After repairing the disk everything works fine again.
    Is it normal that MacOS filesystem is not that stable and gets corrupt from time to time? I cannot find out any reproduction pattern so far.

    I have exchanged the original disc to a larger 500GB/7200 2 month after getting the new MacBook. To narrow down the problem I switched to a 500GB/5400 another 6 month later. I always moved with a SuperDuper Backup from disk to another. My disc usage is about 90%.
    I tent do believe it has something to do with the power management of the Mac. Between a healthy file system and a corrupt one is always one or more system sleeps.
    But the output of the disk utility is also weird. Three successive runs state at the end:
    1)
    Invalid node structure
    The volume MacBookPro internal could not be verified completely.
    Error: This disk needs to be repaired. Start up your computer with another disk (such as your Mac OS X installation disc), and then use Disk Utility to repair this disk.
    2)
    The volume MacBookPro internal was found corrupt and needs to be repaired.
    Error: This disk needs to be repaired. Start up your computer with another disk (such as your Mac OS X installation disc), and then use Disk Utility to repair this disk.
    3)
    The volume MacBookPro internal appears to be OK.

  • CAS Sharepoint/File System Question

    If CAS is used to index Sharepoint or a file system with the appropriate adapter, can it be configured to know what changed or does it have to crawl the entire repository every night to index? If it crawls the entire system, does it re-index everything?

    The answer is different between SharePoint and File Systems.
    For File Systems, the crawler will go out and "touch" each file checking a variety of properties (Filename, size, date modified, owner, etc.) and if it recognizes a change in any of those properties, it will crawl that particular file and extract the content. If no change in those properties is detected, it will skip that file.
    For SharePoint, I believe that it re-crawls the entire repository but the documentation is a little sparse in this area. Regardless, the record store is smart enough to keep the generations distinct and allow you to pull incremental updates between the two versions, even if they were both the result of a full crawl.
