ChaRM: extended test approach

Hi!
We would like to extend the ChaRM test function as follows:
the appropriate Developer should have the possibility to log on on QAS-system and execute the test.
This should be done before the UC/NC has been released.
Has some one any idea how to implement this approach?
(Customizing, definition of new status of UC/NC)
Any helpful information will be very appreciated!

If the Extended test says your drive is bad, believe it. My brother has a G5 iMac. Everything passed Extended tests when new. After a few months strange things started happening to the file system (e.g files randomly disappearing). Disk Utility showed no errors. S.M.A.R.T. verified. Hardware Quick Test passed. Hardware Extended Test showed bad mass storage. Apple suggested Erase with zero option. Still failed Extended Test. When I called them back and gave they error codes from Extended Tests they sent a new drive (Maxtor @%)GB, same as original). It passed Extended Tests and there have been no problems since then.
When you get a new computer it is a good idea to run the Hardware Extended tests, even if everything seems to be working. Then you will know that if it does show an error later, something has gone bad, and it is not just normal behaviour of the test program.

Unit Testing approach

Hi,
We had done technical migration of value based roles to derived roles, and facing problem to design the unit testing approach for the same. can you please suggest what must unit testing approach and how to create test cases for authorizations specificaly to derived roles created from value based roles ?
goal is after testing, end users should not feel any changes done in roles approach.

Hi Swapnil,
The Testing of Security roles need to be taken in a two step approach
Step 1 Unit Testing in DEV
A. Prepare the test cases for each of the derived roles and ensure that your main focus is to see if you are able to execute all the tcodes that have been derived from the parent role with out authorization errors. You also need to verify if each of the derived roles are applicable to those respective Org level Values.
B. Because there will not enough data in DEV ( except In some cases where you have a refresh of fresh PROD data) it is always advisable to do the actual testing of the roles in QA. The goal here is to see if you are able to perform a dry run of all tcodes/Reports/Programs that belong to the roles.
C. You may create fewer Unit test ids as you only assign one ID with one role and once the role is tested you can assign the same ID to another role.
Step 2 Integration Testing in QA
A. Prepare the Integration Test cases for each of the Derived roles. Here most likely the testing will be performed by the end users/Business Analysts in that respective Business Process. Each test case must reflect the possible Org level Authorization Objects and Values that need to be tested.
B. As Integration testing is simulation of actual Production authorizations scenario, care must be taken when creating mulitple Integration test user ids and assigning them right roles and send the ids to the end users to perform the testing in QA.
C. The objective here is that end user must feel comfortable with the test cases and perform both Positive and Negative testing. Testing results must be caputured and documented for any further analysis.
D. In an event of any authorization errors from Integration testing, the authorization errors will be sent to the Security team along with SU53 screenshots. The roles will be corrected in DEV and transported back to QA and the testing continues.
E. Also the main objective of Integration testing would be to check if the transactions are reflecting the right amount of data when executed and any mismatch in the data will be direct implication that the Derived roles do not contain the right Org level values.
Hope this helps you to understand how testing of Security roles (Derived) is done at a high level.

Photoshop does not start, instead, only annoys with CS6 Extended Test Version

Hello all,
since today, after a correct start, when starting Photoshop CS6 (Windows), only a dialog stating "Login for CS6 Extended Test Version" (or similar, as the text is in German). Afterwards, Photoshop simply exits. How do I get rid of this and make PS start as usual, as I do not want to test the extended version.

Thank you for this information. I do not use Creative Cloud and just purchased Photoshop CS6 for my laptop. When I install Application Manager as suggested in the link, I get a Creative Cloud icon that -- when clicked -- asks me to enter my Adobe ID. I deliberately do not want to use Creative Cloud, just continue using CS6 on my laptop.
As the startup screen insists on entering my Adobe ID, I did. And now Photoshop starts as Extended in test mode and does not allow me to (Help ->) Deactivate.
How do I get rid of this Extended test license (I do not need the "Extended" features) and return to my original one computer CS6 license without having to use Creative Cloud.

A/B Testing Approach

Hello,
I'm trying to come up with an A/B testing approach for an AIR desktop client app. I realize that the Google Web Optimizer way is not applicable here...
Can anyone provide a suggestion in terms of approach to this? Does anyone know of any resources and tools for A/B tests in AIR apps?
Can minor changes be triggered on click by pushing from server to client? Would I need to have different builds (A & B) in order to see what UI component(s) works better?

ChaRM and test management in implementation projects

Hi
I am doing implementation projects in solution manager. i have activated charm in the project so as to transport all the changes related to the project with the project lifecycle.
I have got confusions regarding CHarm and Test MAnagement.. when we activated CHaRM the tester can logon to the system and perform testing and pass the Change Document to the next phase.
What is the standard flow when both CHaRM and TEst Management for a project exists??

Apple Hardware extended test

I just upgraded my ram from 2 to 8 gigs. I also am planning on upgrading to Mavericks from SL. I've read a few articles that have suggested running AHT after upgrading RAM and before installing Mavericks. The basic test passed but the extended test has been running for nearly 2hours and it's only about a third done. Is this normal? What's the longest it's taken you to complete?

It isn't necessary to run the AHT before installing Mavericks...after installing the new memory, if there is a fault it will not start or will not register all of the memory. If it starts cleanly and all of the memory shows when you go to the apple left side of the menu bar, About This Mac. You are good to go.

Apple Hardware Test (Perform Extended Testing)

Hit the 'E' key to select Perform Extended Testing if you are unable to select it with a mouse.
I've been working on my wife's new iMac (I7 27") that she purchased a few months ago. Because it is so new, I wouldn't even waste my time on it and just sent it back to Apple to have them look at it (currently suffering slow startup times), however we recently moved overseas to Kyiv, Ukraine. During the troubleshooting, I found the following site:

which informs users how to use Apple's Hardware test. Unfortunately, the app only recognized the wireless keyboard and not the wireless mouse. I didn't know who to contact to have the webpage updated because there is a way you can enable the extended hardware test from the keyboard (by hitting the 'E' key). Unfortunately, I had to figure this out on my own after exhaustive searching on the internet and websites. Hopefully, someone can pass this information along. I wish the app was more keyboard friendly.
I see some other posts that I haven't tried yet, so hopefully they might resolve me issue.
If I can't fix the problem, I'm going to have to see if there may be a rep in this country who to replace/fix the unit.

Yesterday I ran the Apple Hardware test ( Version 3A181 - Perform Extended Testing ) from my MacBook OS Install DVD and Everything passed 100% ( entire test took 57 minutes and 15 seconds )
Forgot to mention after the Apple Hardware test was finished No Problems Were Found...
This isn't making any sense to me - Any Suggestions to what the cause of these Safe Boots may be ?

Apple Hardware Test, What is the Extended Test?

Hi. Using the Apple Hardware Test under disc 2 of the iMac's (late 2009) there's a checkbox for an extended test but it takes significantly longer compared to around 3 minutes only with a normal test. What does the extended test that the normal test have? Does it test more parts in the iMac?
Is there a third-party that's better than Apple Hardware Test that can test every bit of hardware in the iMac including it's power supply, internal battery charge, transistors, capacitors (if there are capacitors that are about to burst or are not delivering the proper voltage or current), if every pixek in the LCD is good, if the speakers are not torn, etc.

The extended AHT does a much more extensive set of tests on your RAM.
An alternative memory tester is Memtest which is a terminal command with Rember being a GUI layer for memtest.
There's also the diglloyd tools memorytester but it is not free.
AHT does video testing but I am not sure how extensive it is. And I'm pretty sure no utility exists to do component-level validation. Does such stuff like that exist for any piece of electronic equipment (TVs, radios)? That's what volt meters are for and possible test points on the pc boards.
I should add there are utilities like iStat Menus which are capable of displaying temperatures, volts, amps, watts of all many components of the hardware. But they just display the info, they aren't testing the stuff. It's up to the person looking at that info to decide if something is too hot, drawing too much current, etc.

Charm Retrofit Test in SM 7.1

When in 'To be Tested' state, 'Confirm Successful Testing', it prompts the following warning message, and status remains in 'To be Tested state.
1) Status was reset by system
2) No import into test system has taken place
3) Transport request is not flagged for import into production

Can you tell us if your transport imported with error in QAS system?
If yes,then in SCMA you can click on 'Correct import(repair flag)' button. It will give you the list of transports that went in error for all (*) users in QAS or PRD systems. Then you can select the transports one by one and click 'error corrected' button.
After this you can try again to change the status of CD to 'Successfully Tested'.
If No,please check the job log of collector job SM:TMWFLOW_CMSSYSCOL and see if it is running fine.
The production import queue doesn't get updated with QAS transports due to failure of mentioned job,so when you are scheduling import job it may not be getting any transport to import.
Also, if you have 5 system landscape and you are moving the changes to QAS system of N+1 landscape, and because of ChaRM configuration, changes are not yet allowed to go in import queue of N landscape ,then we get such warnings.

EBS test approach

Can anyone elaborate: when performing tests in EBS testing module's functionalities that can span over months (even years) how do you test it in a short period of time? Do you change app server/db dates on the servers to speed up time or is it better to adjust APPS calendar to suit the available test period (hour=month), so for example if you have to wait for a month in real life you only wait for an hr in the test environment..?? What is the common approach?

ChaRM Extended Configuration Problem

We have configured ChaRM Functionality for R/3 landscape.When we Tested the same with Standard Functionality it is working fine but we have customized the Standard with ZDCR(Copy of SDCR) we have included Functional Lead in second level and the work flow is
Requester-Function Lead-Change Manager(First Functional Lead has to be approved then only it comes to Change manager upon the Approval of Change Manager Change Doument will be created. but we have some issues
1.When ever Functional Lead trying to go to Change mode and choose Actions it is giving there are no actions in the worklist but if he goes back to display and try to change it again he is getting Actions as 1.To Be Approved by FL 2.Reject Change Request.We would like to have this actions when we go to change mode and save it once(not for twice)
2.upon the approval of Functional Lead , when the Change Manager is trying to go to change mode and save it first time it is showing the same message as there are no actions in the worklist after going to display and choose change again then we are getting the Actions as 1.Approve Change Request by CM. but Rejection option is not getting at this Level.we need Reject the Change Request
We have assigned all the roles as per the security guide.
Please suggest me what are all the actions that i need to maintain in order to resolve the issue.

Integration of Charm and test work bench or customizing

Hello,
Solution Manager allows one to define the business processes. One can then define test cases for these business processes. Then one can use the test workbench to do the testing.
Is there any way to link the test workbench with Charm?
Are there any such plans for such integration?
Customizing can also be done from the business process definitions in a project. Are there any way that charm can be integrated to make changes in this way?

This is very far from the type of integration I expect to see. Proper incident management means when a problem occurs and incident is logged into the sap service desk. If this incident requires a change it should be forwarded to the CHange Reqest Management (CHaRM). From there it should have a business impact analysis, then a system or architecture review, only then if it is approved should development be started, after the development, it goes into QA for testing. Since the business process is defined in the solman and there are test cases for this business process. It makes sense that one can use the test workbench to verify the business process, and document the testing. If there is a problem with the testing and it needs to go back to development, it should be connected to the same incident logged initially. There should not be a second problem logged. It is still part of the same incident and should be managed as such.
This question exists also for a maintenance project. Once I have an operational system and all the business process defined in the project and a change arrives into ChaRM, why canu2019t the change be done in the project like and implementation?
How can one find out the direction of this product? Does SAP have any plans to develop solman into an integrated tool or will it remain a bunch of simple tools that co-exist on the same server?
