Hi Experts
One of our system is R/3 4.5B. Does SolMan ChaRM support R/3 4.5B?
If so, do we need to install certain level of Support package as prequisete?

Using SolMAn / ChaRm for upgrade to ECC6

Good Day;
We are planning on using SolMan / ChaRm for our upgrade from 4.6C to ECC6 and I am wondering if it would be possible to do the following
Upgrade a development system to ECC6.
Define 2 virtual ECC6 Systems, 1 for the QA system and 1 for the production system
Create a project that contains all the business processes and has the above landscape assigned. This project does not have ChaRM active.
Create a maintenance cycle with the above landscape attached and ChaRM active.
As we upgrade the real QA and production systems to ECC6, we want to u201Cflip outu201D the virtual systems for the u201Crealu201D ECC6 systems.
Does anyone have any input in this type of plan?

We would like to implement ChaRM functionality for our SAP system landscape.
Among others we have 3 SAP BI systems.
Does some one experience with set up of ChaRM for SAP BI systems?
Do we have here a different approach as for other systems (e.g. SAP ERP 2005)?

Hi Thom,
we are using a ECC landscape, a BI landscape, a Solution Manager landscape, and a CRM landscape within CHaRM. All landscapes are separate transport landscapes, and there is a transport domain link from SolMan Production system (as this is the transport domain controller).
To answer your question: The approach is all the same for any landscape (as long as they are just ABAP systems). The approach is different for Dual-Stack of Java systems, you would need CTS+.

I have configured CHARM on BW 3OB & BI 7 landscapes, and i dont think whatever you heard is correct.
If you follow pre-requisites you will able to configure it without any errors.

ChaRM for a 5 system landscape

Hi all,
we got a requirement to implement charm for 5 system landscape. but the problem is
currently the scenario followed for the rollout is
1. AA(DEV-proj)--> BB(QUA - proj)
Then the TR is forwarded from BB system to the maintenance landscape
DEV>QUA> PROD
they don't want to implement retrofit functionality.
is there any way we can mapp this scenario to charm.

currently a two systems are separated from the maintenance landscape.
they are forwarding the TRs to the development system.
is there any way we create 2 tracks.
1. AA-BB-DEV-QUA-PROD
2. DEV-QUA- PROD
again i not having a clear idea on how to differentiate the tracks as both leads to the same production system.
or is there any way develop a custom method for forwarding this TR to the DEV system.
kindly sugggest on how to go about.

ChaRM for 2 tier landscape

I need to setup ChaRM for a 2 tier landscape. I know how to do the technical side however i need some clarity in regards to the process flow that will be used. Does someone have a diagram or document detailing this process. Basically i just need to know at what point testing happens and when does the transport get triggered to move from DEV to PRD

Standard charms is for 3 tier so no diagram
for testing it happens in dev only so in short when move the changes to qa it will remain in dev system for ur case
only when request is released ................it goes to prd

Clarification in charm for daily transports

Dear Charm Experts,
We have configured charm in our test system and have few calrifications. Please help.
Objective: to use charm for transport management of regular corrections for support and maintenance of system (no implementation or upgrade)
So now we have configured and testing the workflow. Part of it i am successful able to create change request from dswp, approve and set to in development and also able to create transport request from change request.
Now i am unable to release the transport request, getting the following error.
"Action 'Regular Correction: Release Transport Request' cannot be
executed during phase 'Development without Release'"
My understanding is i can not release the request as the maintenance cycle status is in development. So to release the tr of change request i need to also set the status of maintenance cycle.
If this is the case then do i need to create a maintenance cycle for each change we need in our landscape? or how i can create and implement the chages using charm just like Remedy. Hope you understood my concern, please let me know if you need more information.

I guess, if i correctly understtand your prb, you are stcuk in flow of NCR.
if the MC is in status "Deve w/o release" your change doc "In developemnet", at this time you can only create the TR and do the develpment activity.
at once you set the MC as "Develp wit release" and your cr in "In development", you can release ur TR task,if you trigger action test transport, Then ToC s created, and import into test system, you can go for all testing, if any correction needed, do that in again in Dev system,release te new task , triger action again test import,ToC created, test it in test system.
Once development done, trigger the action Release Transport Order, nw change doc "Complete developement".
later you can move MC phase "test", CR as "To be tested", in this case corrections reparied by using test messages for create tr and import it.
So please set the phase of your MC as Develp wit release and proceed.

ChaRM for Dual Stack ABAP & JAVA - No http port for system SPD

Hi,
I have configured the CHARM for Dual stack ( Java, ABAP). when I perform the action 'Logon to System' it gives me following option
" The system is a dual stack system. You can log
on to the ABAP stack or non-ABAP stack
To which stack do you want to log on?
ABAP or Non ABAP"
If I click on Non ABAP, one more message comes
"You can logon to system SPD or just display its
transport requests
What do you want to run?
Requests Or Logon"
If I click on Logon I get the Information " No http port for system SPD "
& If I click Continue It will take me to Ugent Correction & error appears as 'Action System Logon in system SPD 100 of type Source Systems has been cancelled'
How to Solve this error.

CHARM for SAP Bank Analyzer system

Does anyone have experience with setting up CHARM for SAP BA system ?
Does work ?
Generally I would think it should as BA is technically just an ABAP-type system.
But I have never seen it before connected to CHARM, so any information is much appreciated: PROs, CONs, issues etc.

ChaRM for Rollout

Hi All,
We are in process of implementing ChaRM. Currently we have a 5 system landscape for Rollout and ongoing production. Also currently we have multiple Rollouts going on and we are using SolMan for all config and other activities.
The current trasnport movement path is Rollout dev --> Rollout QA --> Support dev --> support QA --> Production.
How can I replicate this transport movement through ChaRM. Also many rollout will be in progress when ChaRM will go live, how to enable ChaRM in between the implementation project.
Also in current Rollout and Support environment we have multiple client in development i.e. for configuration and development separately.

Basically the main feature / funtionality of CHaRM is for Approval Process like creation of any change (like config or workbench) and then movement of transports from one system to another system. Dev --> QAS -->PROD.
these all depends up on the requirement you work.As per my understanding for your rollout project you are doing all the ECC configuration using the Solution Manager.
They are two ways of movement of trasports:
1.Moving the Transport Requests from one system to another system out side solution manager.
2.Moving the Transport Requests from one system to other system with in the solution manager.
If you are following the 2.option, In this case you have to do the following:
1.Create a Maintenance Project
2.Create a Maintenance Cycle
before doing this activity, the Basis people has to set the TMS which plays a vital role.
Please check the rest with your Basis People.

Hi Mike,
We have integrated Charm with BW.We are using only urgent corrections.With urgent correction it is whenever a import fails,we need to create a new transport request and move it.There is no option to reimport the TPs.This makes it complex sometimes as soome TPs would have dependencies so if we import it first it will fail.Then after importing the dependent object,we need to create a new TP and attache the failed TP object to this and move it.

Clarifications about ChaRM for a 4-systems landsape

we have a 4 ECC systems landscape DEV>QAS>PrePRD-->PRD. When we set the status of change document from "In Development" to "To Be Tested" the TR are transported from DEV to QAS. After successfully testing in QAS the status of Change document is set to "Consolidated" and the TR are transported from QAS to PrePRD. When the phase of the project is switched to "GoLive" then all TRs that belong to the project are transported in PRD. Now we have some questions:
1)Is it possible to set a status for the change document that are in PrePRD so only those that have this status can be transported in PRD?
2)For a maintenance project UC and normal corrections in PrePRD are transported together (project import all) or separately?
3)Is it possible to do a single import (not an project import all) in PRD?

You want to transport only some transports out of all your available transports?
Only those, which reached pre-poduction system.
Afaik, this is not possible when you golive with the project. It's the idea of a project, to keep all transports 'together'.
You might try to do it manually directly in the system, but it's some effort and will reduce system stability.
#2)
UC are transported as transport of copies and re-transported with NC's when you go live with the project.
#3)
I don't know an automatic way - for one single transport, I would do it manually.
But again, it's risky. You should really know, what you are doing and what the effect of the transport will be!
