Charm Prerequisites for satellite systems

What versions of sap needs to be installed on the satellite system in order to work with solution manger charm.
For example can charm be made to work with a SAP 4.6C system?
Where is this documented? I did a search and can not find it anywhere.
Easy points.
Cheers

Hi Avrohom Weissman
Sorry i forgot mention it, in the right hand side, look for the Configuration Guide SAP Solution Manager as of SP15 (based on your SP level of Solman) which will give all the prerequisites of the respective scenarios of Solution Manager.
For Charm refer the page number 10.

These limitations are described in note 1010428 in detail. Bottom line is that End-to-End Diagnostics requires for
    Web AS ABAP
o 6.20 SAP_BASIS SP61 or higher (Restriction: SQL Trace and ABAP Trace are written, but connot be collected in SAP Solution Manager 7.0)
              o NW04 SPS17 or higher

    Web AS Java
              o No support of 6.20
              o NW04 SPS 17 or higher

Web AS Java 6.20 based solutions can still be connected to Wily Introscope Enterprise Manager of SAP Solution Manager.

    Thanks ,
    Shashi

    Hello SHashi,
You have listed the specifications of your managed system as (620 - SP60) and you have listed the pre-requisites as 6.20 SAP_BASIS SP61. If the managed system has  SAP_BASIS SP60 and not 61, then it is not supported.
Check the menu bar System > Status then click the components information button (magnifying glass) and see what the SP Level of SAP_BASIS 6.20 is installed.
If it is SP61 or higher, then you can install  diagnostics. If it is 60 or lower, it is not supported.
So you will know as soon as you check the SP level of the installed version of SAP_BASIS 6.20.
    I hope this was helpful.

I am totally confused which roles i have to assign to Change Manager, IT operator, Tester, Developer & Requester.
In Solman which roles I have to assign & in Satellite system R/3 which roles to assign.
Currently I have assigned following Roles in Solman.
    Change Manager
    ZO_BC_SOCM_CHANGE_MANAGER
    ZO_BC_CHANGEMAN_ADMIN
    ZO_BC_CHANGEMAN_OPERATOR
    ZO_BC_SOCM_CREATE
    ZO_BC_SOCM_DISPLAY
    ZO_BC_SOCM_PRODUCTION_MANAGER
    ZO_BC_TRUSTED-RFC
    IT Operator /Basis

Roles required for developer, tester and chagne manager in Solution manager in solution manager are as follow.
    Developer
    SAP_CM_DEVELOPER_COMP(composite role)
         SAP_CM_SMAN_DEVELOPER
         SAP_SOCM_DEVELOPER
    SAP_SOCM_REQUESTER
    tester
    SAP_S_RFCACL (for RFC)
    SAP_CM_TESTER_COMP(composite role)
         SAP_CM_SMAN_TESTER
         SAP_SOCM_TESTER
    change manager
    SAP_CM_ADMINISTRATOR_COMP (composite role)
         SAP_CM_SMAN_ADMINISTRATOR
         SAP_CPR_PROJECT_ADMINISTRATOR
         SAP_CPR_USER
         SAP_SOCM_ADMIN
    SAP_CM_CHANGE_MANAGER_COMP (composite role)
         SAP_CM_SMAN_CHANGE_MANAGER
         SAP_SOCM_CHANGE_MANAGER
But you have to assign some object authorization to these standard roles.
mainly you have to provide authorization for these objects S_TCODE, B_USERSTAT, S_OC_ROLE, CRM_ORD_OP etc.
You can assign sap_all, sap_new to your user(developer, tester, change manager etc) and can set a trace from st01 on that perticaular user and then try to execute anything which you want. Then you can check for the objects in the trace and can authorize user for those object.

  • No users are shown for Service Desk in SOLMAN for satellite systems

    Hello!
I would like to set up the business partners for Service Desk in SAP Solution Manager.
If I choose the solution and execute "Edit --> Create Business partner" for the SAP R/3 4.7 then I get the warning “no users are shown under the system”.
If I log onto the satellite system and make some changes in su01 or pfcg the situation does not change.
<b>How can this problem be solved?</b>
    Thank you very much!

    Thank you very much!
    The problem is solved!
Im my case was necessary to apply SAP Note 1055630.
I have assigned the role "SAP_SM_S_USER_GRP" to the user with RFC_READ connection, refreshed the last alert in DSWP and tha is.

  • Activate EWA for satellite system in 3.2

    Hello,
We have solution manager 3.2 with all the latest patches, and have included the satellite system in the landscape and generated the RFC's. Need to activate EWA for the system. Have defined a Solution. Need to how do you include a system in the solution because when i click on Solution directory --> setup EWA, it gives a message,
    "NO system found in landscape"
Any suggestions / inputs are appreciated.
    Thanks and cheers,
    Chetan

    HI ,
Kindly follow the below steps for the EWA activation:
1)go to transaction SMSY enter your system details and check the system data is updating with the SLD (check this option in SMSY_SETUP)
2)then define logical component fo rthis system then define this logical component under solution
3)you will be having a option under that EWA configuration click on EWA active (check )
and check the Send to SAP if you want the EWA repor thas to reach SAP once the Report is Red after analysis done in Solman by the Job SMS*
4)then go to SDCCN in the solman then trigger the activation of session data for the particular sysytem if the RFC SM_SIDCLNT<CLNT>_back exists then task created in the satelite system for the session data to Solamn
5)then check the EWA report and do processing in the operation for that solution

  • RFC User for satellite systems

    Hello Gurus,
I just wanted to ask about one issue. We are a SAP partner and using Solution Manager in VARs scenario. There are many systems of our customers connected to our Solution Manager..
Now I want to ask about RFC user(s). As I see, in our Solution Manager there are many users(communications type C) with Synthax SOLMAN<system id> or something like that. It means basically, that we have for every particular customerS system one SOLMAN user for RFC(cust_scout) in our Solution Manager. My question is if we can replace all of these users with only one RFC user for all the systems and customers?
Many thanks in advance for your help

    Hi Miloslav,
Technically, it will work that you define one common RFC user in your SolMan for communication (RFC BACK destination) from all connected managed systems.
BUT, I would never recommend it.
Once a managed system cause issues in your SolMan, you are not able (or at least it's much more difficult) to identify the managed system. Same happens, if a invalid password in the BACK destination leads to a locked user.
My recommendation: Spend the extra effort in creating a user per managed system. Operation will be much easier later.

  • Is it possible to have different CHARM process for R/3 and CRM system

    Hi all,
I am currentlu workin on CHARM implementation and we have successfully gone live for R/3 System now we need to implement CHARM for CRM system. The Customer is asking to define a new Change request and new Urgent correction for CRM system as there is different approval procedure for CRM when compared to R/3 Now i want to know whether we can have a different CHARM process for CRM system alone, kindly give ur valuable inputs as it is very urgent.
    Thanks in advance
    Raju

Once the pricing procedure ia assigned to sales order, it is automatically copied into Invoice through Copy controls. You never assign pricing procedure to billing document. it is automatically copied.

  • Satellite System Kernel Information

    Hallo,
is it possible to find out in the SolMan about the kernel release and the source id of the satellite system? I was searching the SMSY and the SLD but couldn't find that information.
    Thank you for your help,
    Michael

    Hi Michael
If SLD does not collect or display this information (check Technical Landscape in the SLD UI) and you use SLD as a data source for SMSY, you may not get this information in SMSY - please however check SLD landscape data and SMSY thoroughly in case it is captured
However for satellite systems in SMSY that have ST-PI installed and use RFC as a data source Kernel data might be available - also there may be other locations to get this information such as in EWA reports for the system or via MOPZ
Also if Central System Administration is setup you should be able to go directly to the satellite system from Solution Manager and check System-->Status in the system itself (using TRUSTED RFC without saplogon required)
    Best wishes

  • Mass transport strategy but satellite system is configured for ChaRM

We want that all transports are automatically transported in the development test client.
We have calling a job with program TMS_BCI_START_SERVICE in the satellite system. But this program can only be used for mass transports and does not work when single transports strategy is activated.
    Question:
Is there no solution to transport all this transports automatically in development test client via mass transport strategy if satellite system is configured for ChaRM scenario?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Regards Urs

  • CHARM activation check failing on "consolidation system for development system SSA-200 in project ZTEST2

    Hello,
We are implementing Charmlite and want to activate in project landscape.
We are Solution Manager 7.1 SP11 and testing this scenario in sandbox.
    Steps completed:
    1. in sandbox domain controller, created two virtual systems and made 3 system landscape, where, I can release the transport and see it in QA system (Virtual system buffer)
    2. The LMDB has been updated with Virtual system and in SMSY, the entries of virtual system shows up. The logical components have the client information.
    Issue:
in /nsolar_project_admin ->System landscape -> change management, When consistency check is performed, we get error message saying
Virtual RFC is miising (I am guessing, it should be okay)
The logical component is incosistent (This might be the reason the CHARM is not getting activated.
"No consolidation system for development system SSA-200 in project ZTEST2
No track for project ZTEST2 with log. system SSA/200"
For me, when i look in satellite system, the consolidation system is a virtual system and it should be fine.
    Please advise
    Regards,
    Durga PK Saitana

Thank you Karthik. Still the problem persists
I went through the blog earlier. I created l ABAP instance manually in SLD and moved into LMDB and can see the entry in SMSY. (I did not see any option of putting  virtual flag)
We were trying harmonization of RFC from note 1384598 and since we had virtual systems, went with domain links.
After domain links, the virtual systems are read. the Dev ABAP system is not able to find the consolidated system. In the satellite system, I can release transport and move the transport.
Not sure, why this issue is persistent.

  • Direct creation of transports in satellite system after CHARM

    Hi All,
    I have a quick question:
Can we create new transport requests into satellite system directly, when CHARM is enabled for them. Or the transports can only be created through CHARM?

  • CHARM:   Logon restriction to satellite system

    Hi
With CHARM functinality, users are allowed to logon satellite system via Solman only when logon action is approved.  This is great control, but how can we prevent users from loging directly to satellite system?
In short,  I would like to accomplish this
User > SAPGUI > Satellite (i.e ECC)    Not possible
User --> SAPGUI --> Solman --> Satellite   Possible when approved in Solman
I tested this with changing user type in SU01 (dialog, communication, system, service...), but none of them solved my problem.
Maybe,  I should post this question in BASIS forum, but though this was common problem in CHARM envirnment.   Thanks in advance.
    Regards

    Hi, Xavier
Thank you for your reply.   End users will continue to log on satellite system.  No change for them.
What I meant is that I want to control developers / testers' logon activities.
They can logon DEV / QA servers only when approved by Solman.
Problem is that their users need to exist in satellite system, and they can still directly log on to DEV / QA. This is why I want to accomplish such a functionality.   I wonder if any configuration solve this.

  • Roles in satellite system for message creator

while creating support message in satellite syatem, i am getting the following error.
Error in Local Message System: No authorization to logon as trusted system (Trust Message was Not Created
    Message no. BCOS088
what role i have to give it to the message creator @ satellite system

    Hi.
Looks like you are using a trusted connection (maintained in table BCOS_CUST) to connect your satellite system to the Solution Manager.
If you keep this configuration every user who tries to create a support message in your satellite system also needs a real user in the Solution Manager (including authorization objects S_RFC and S_RFC_ACL).
Instead you should use the SM_<your sol man>_BACK destination and set NO_USER_CHECK=X in Tx: DNO_CUST04 (SolMan).
Also you should create a Business Partner in SolMan (for each user who should be able to create a support message in satellite system) with external ID referring to the satellite system user.
You do not need a user in SolMan for everyone who should be able to create a support message from satellite system.
    Hope this helps.
    /cheers
