  • Multiple clients in DEV and QA for CHARM setup

Blog /people/dolores.correa/blog/2008/07/26/first-steps-to-work-with-change-request-management-scenario is an excellence introduction to CHARM setup.
However in real world, we have multiple clients on DEV and QAS systems.
Could you help explain how to extend the method in above blog to multiple DEV and QAS clients?
    Thanks !

  • Can Co-Exist two CHARM setups for managing an Unique Landscape?

    Hi Guys
We are actually migrating and Upgrading an existing Solution Manager 7.01 to 7.1
Since we are performing tests on this Sandbox system, we would like to replicate CHARM configuration and execute full integration tests against managed systems.
There is the actual Productive Solution Manager (SSM), which manages an BW Landscape and a ERP Landscape
If we configure CHARM this Sandbox Solution Manager upgraded to 7.1 (SMT), to manage the same actual BW and ERP Landscape, the configuration would be affected on the original Systems?
In other words, Can we have two CHARM Clients (Test and Productive) to manage BW and ERP Landscape without affecting each other configuration
On the Sandbox CHARM, we only want to test configuration and perform a Change Request Cycle only for testing.
Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Regards!

    Hi Martin,
Your development solman might not be connected to erp dev qa and prod so you can just create 3 clients within solman to do this or
take a erp sandbox and create 3 clients within it having roles of Dev Qa and Prd like in below blogs

these are the two errors i got after executing /TMWFLOW/CHARMCHK.  Please help me out and suggest what to be done.

  • Existing STMS configuration and CHARM setup

    Experts:
We have a  pretty complicated STMS configuration because of  many clients from ECC DEV, QA and one production client.
Now we want to set up CHARM.
Can we use the current STMS configuration without making any change on STMS for this CHARM project?
I have done a lot of reading on this and come up with this layout for logical  components:
    For customizing clients:
    DEV101->QAS101-> QAS200 ->PRD100
    DEV102->QAS102-> QAS200 ->PRD100
    DEV103->QAS103-> QAS200 ->PRD100
    For code development
    DEV104->QAS104-> QAS200 ->PRD100
Because QAS200 is the only QA client that has a tp router to PRD100
We plan to create a dedicated project (therefor a dedicated maintenance cycle) for each of above logical components.
Would you please inform us whether it's smart for us NOT change current STMS configuration?
    Thanks!

    Hi Jennifer,
I am quite sure that you can use the current STSM configuration with ChaRM. You will need to configure a logical component for each track and add to the same maintenance cycle.
It is important that you assign a transport layer to each of the development clients, but I am sure this is already done. Assign each QAS with role "target system ".

  • How to handle multiple DEV clients in CHARM

    Experts:
We have many DEV clients  in our ECC landscape.
Some customizing needs to be imported into all DEV clients.
In order to use CHARM to do above import into different  DEV clients, I want to define some logical components with only
2 systems, i.e. source DEV client and target DEV client (e.g.  DEV100->DEV200).  Then link this logical component to a
    project.
In this way we will define  many projects (logical componets, maintenance cycles)  depending on how path combinations existing on  the STMS setup.
Could you help verify whether this will work as expected? Because I did not configure 2 system  tp for CHARM before therefore I am not sure.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
you should take a look to those 2 threads especially the second one IF those other clients are USED FOR CREATING TR:
Re: Multiple clients in DEV and QA for CHARM setup
Change Request Management for multiple production clients
IF the other clients should just be synchronized with custo done in the first one then the lines above will help you.
Important fact "A Solman Project can have more than a logical component."
So for example in your case if you are trying to update DEV 200 with DEV 100 when importing TR to quality system (200 must be a kind of reference client for you),
you ll simply have to declare a Solman Project containing the core logical component (for ex: DEV 100 -> QUAL 100 -> PRD 100) AND another one that ll let you import in DEV 200 (DEV 100 -> DEV 200).
In your generated tasklist you'll then find DEV 200 under Target Systems node; like if it was a QUAL system AND you ll find tasks as "Import Transport Requests" available for DEV 200.
As a prerequesite you MUST declare DEV 200 in your logical component as a Target Role System and not as a Source Role System (like DEV 100) (Transaction SMSY). Otherwise Solman will understand that DEV 200 will be used only for creating and releasing TR and it will be considered like DEV 100
    Hope it helps
Keep me updated with how it goes
    Regards
    Khalil

  • Reports in ChaRM

    Hi all,
I have a question on reports in Charm. In our company we need an overview of all change documents for a specific maintenance cycle and then further specified by domain i.e. company division working on the change documents.
The current possibilities of searching via the CRM_DNO_MONITOR or TMWFLOWPROJ transactions do not cover our need.
Does anyone have an idea on how to add columns in a report or on how we can combine reports in the out-of-the-box Charm setup?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kirsten

    Hi Kirsten,
Try SOLAR_EVAL transaction. You will be able to display all change documents for a particular maintenance cycle.

    Stéphane.

  • ChaRM functionality in SOLMAN

    Hello ChaRM-experts!
I have the following questions regarding ChaRM-Setup:
    1) Do I always need to define a Maintenance Project or can I use tcode u201CSCMAu201D to use transport management/ChaRM for satellite systems in SOLMAN
    2) Is it possible to use transport management between several logical components?
    3) Which transport routes from satellite systems will be supported within ChaRM of SOLMAN? We have a lot of own transport routes.
    4) Are there some escalation mechanisms, e.g. when the urgent correction will be not executed within 1 week?
    Thank you very much!
    Thom

Haven't tested this scenario but you are able to assign more than one logical component to a SMI project.
All the systems will be listed in your task list.
But the point is: even if one system - lets say a QA or project system - is not included in the SMI project via a logical component and thus not available in the task list released transport request from a DEV system will be delivered to that system nevertheless (in case the package/transport layer contained in the request is configured in your CTS to deliver the QA/project system).
So you may use several logical components, release your transport via action in task list. All via CTS connected systems will be delivered in background. You may import your transport requests in follow-up systems via action in the task list or via aut. import job. For the production you may want to have the system listed in the task list (and therefore part of a logical component assigned to your project) because you usually do not use aut. import jobs for that kind of system and need use the action to import transports.
    Hope this helps.

  • ChaRM Proof of Concept

    Hi All,
I need some help with a ChaRM Proof of Concept TMS configuration.
I have this setup that I would like to make work.
    logical component 1: DEV1 > QAS1 > PROD
logical component 2: DEV2 > QAS2 > PROD (this is the same prod as above)
I have ChaRM working fine with a maintenance project with logical component 1 assigned. My issues are arising when I try to have another maintenance project with logical component 2 assigned. The goal is to have maintenance project 1 for dev and customization on a yet to be decided maintenance cycle. And maintenance project 2 for production support on a weekly maintenance cycle.
These are all dummy Solution Manager clients numbers.
    DEV1 is client 500
    QAS1 is client 501
    PROD is client 502
    DEV2 is client 600
    QAS2 is client 601
My TMS is set up with the following:
    SAP > 501 transport
    ZSM1 > 501 transport
    501>502 Delivery
these three worked fine to get the basic ChaRM setup working with maintenance project 1.
    I added:
    ZSM2 > 601 transport
    601 > 502 delivery
    I can't add:
SAP > 601 transport. It tells me the SAP transport layer is already being used. (above to 501)
My maintenance project 2 is having issues being setup because the TMS is not reflecting the DEV 600 > QAS 601 > PROD 502 system landscape.
Anyone have any experience on how to setup the TMS to test this setup? I imagine this would be easier with seperate boxes, rather than having client for 2 DEV, 2 QAS and 1 PROD on the same one.
    regards,
    Jason

    Hi Christian,
well my ChaRM Check is throwing a few errors which usually have to do with the TMS being setup incorrectly.
"No consolidation system found for SMD600 and "No track for project... for log. sys SMD/600"
My TMS knowledge is a bit lacking here. The SAP and ZSM1 are both consolidation routes, but I'm not exactly clear when and how each one is used. Should I just create another consolidation transport route? i.e. ZSM3 > 601 to go along with the ZSM2 > 601 I already created? Is it really just enough to have two consolidation transport routes?
    thanks,
    Jason
