ChaRM: Two Virtual Systems?

Hi Experts,
It is possible to have two virtual systems in a ChaRM three tier landscape? DEV -> Virtual System 1 -> Virtual System 2?
This is because only DEV is available now with QAS and PRD following in the future. Thanks!
Best Regards,
Karl

Dear Karl, Please use following documentation to configure CHaRM incase you have only one system present at this moment, Later you can alter the configuration once QAS and PRD are installed.

  • Activate CHaRM using Virtual Systems in Landscape

Is it possible to activate a CHaRM project against a landscape that
    contains virtual systems?
We currently have a Development system (DEV) with a virtual Test system
(QAS) and virtual Production system (PRD).  These systems are marked as
Virtual in TMS and SMSY System Landscape.  We have added these systems t
    o
the Logical Components and created a new Solution Manager project and
want to activate CHaRM against this scenario. .
The TMS routes are defined with Dev -> QAS(virtual) -> PRD(virtual).  Is
this scenario possible?  Do the standard CHaRM activation checks (RFC's,
Authorizations, etc) get bypassed because these systems are virtual?
When activating CHaRM, we still receive the error that no consolidation
system exists for our Dev system even though the TMS routes have been
defined properly.  However, since these systems are virtual, we cannot
    add client information to them.
    Thanks

A virtual system cannot export any TR. So any request imported to QAS cannot be exported

  • ChaRM approach (virtual systems)

    Hi ChaRM-experts!
We have a comprehensive SAP system landscape with several virtual systems and virtual transport routes.
What is the best way to map such landscape into ChaRM approach (system roles) within SAP Solution Manager 7.0?
    Thank you very much!

  • Change Request Management: virtual systems

    Hi!
We would like to set up Change Request Management (ChaRM) approach for 3 +1 systems:
    DEV --> VT1 (virtual system) --> QAS --> PRD
    Questions:
    1) Are there some restrictions implementing ChaRM with virtual systems?
    2) We would like to use in parallel non-ChaRM transports and we have there
an automatic transport twice a day.
Will this approach be a problem for the ChaRM?
    3) Which transport routes will be used by ChaRM?
    a) one for transportof  the SAP objects (e.g. "SAP") and one standard transport route (e.g. Z<SID>) or
    b) do I have the possibility to choose the transport routes?
Any helpful information will be very appreciated and awarded by points.

I am very sorry for the mess I did trying to post my message. I was not able to post it.
Can you please give me any solutions to the problem reported?

  • Warning: Problems occurred during synchronization in Charm with virtual sys

    Hi Team
    I have configured charm with virtual system --(Dev>V01>V02>) as client specific STMS , Where V01 is Quality and V02 is production system; When I do consistency check from solar_project_admin tcode for project created, it shows no errors ;
but when i try to activate the charma and click on "refresh" button , it throws following error
"Warning: Problems occurred during synchronization" ;I have checked the logs in SLG1 for object "/TMWFLOW/CMSCV" ; but
there are no errors except warnings for BC Sets , Can you pl guide what might have gone wrong ?
All the RFC's are working fine and there is no authorization issue in solution manager.
    Thanks

    hi,
for the CTS activation you must do all the below,
    1. SMSY --> landscape creation
    2. RFC Creations
    3. Client Specific TMS configuration
    4. Prj --> CTS activation.
    go through the below doc,

  • ChaRM implementation with virtual systems

    Hello Gurus,
We have successfully installed and done basic settings for Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1 system, we are planning to implement ChaRM and I have already downloaded the guide for it.
But I have few doubts regarding its setup like since we don't have DEV, QAS and PRD setup yet, so is it possible to configure ChaRM right now?? maybe with virtual systems ??
Will it be better to configure ChaRM only after DEV installation ?
Also, I am not clear about the transports which will be done from Solution manager using ChaRM, is it like you create transport request from Solman or from DEV ??
Thanks for providing any valuable information !!
    Cheers !!

  • CHaRM - Target group and Virtual System

    Hi,
Could anyone let me know if Virtual System and target groups could be used with CHaRM?
Current set up with three systems/clients works fine, however, for a new project with active STMS version with target group and virtual system, even the task list is unable to be created.
    Can you please help?

  • Mirror virtual machines between two nas systems

    Hello everyone,
I have an esx3.5 server and the vm's are stored in a thecus n5200pro nas using iSCSI. the synchronization module installed in the nas doesn't support iSCSI so I'm trying to find a solution to my problem.
Basically what I need is to mirror the first nas on the second so if the first one fails, I can just change the backup nas ip address and get things working again.
The only solution I found so far (which I'm currently testing) is using win2k3. I installed the ms iscsi initiator and created a mirror between the volumes of the two nas systems. It's currently synchronizing so I don't know if this will work yet.
My question is if there is a better way to handle this job without having to buy additional software. if not, is my current setup going to work?
    guido

    Hi Pranay,
    >>There is a storage server which is added on both the host under as ISCSI array option :-
Do you mean the two hosts are connecting same ISCSI target of the storage server ?
Based on my understanding , shared storage is used for cluster .
Could you please tell us where the VMs is stored ?
    Best Regards,

  • How to connect the two virtual machine .

I installed VM workstation and created two virtual machine .Please suggest me how to connect them internally each other though vm network editor.I want create RAC Setup for practice.

NAT is the default adapter type in VirtualBox, which will work in almost any configuration and networking environment. Using the NAT adapter, the host system will establish connections on behalf of the guest OS. NAT requires that the corresponding VM guest adapter uses DHCP and cannot be used to provide any services unless you configure port forwarding (>1024) at the VirtualBox VM NAT adapter.
Bridged networking is the most transparent adapter type, but requires a physical network adapter on the host OS, which is limited depending on the host system and hardware, e.g. wireless. It also requires that the user understands network and routing restrictions of the host system in case of using the interface to communicate between the host and VM. A combination of host-only and NAT may sometimes be necessary to allow the VM to connect to the internet and allow the host to communicate with the VM guest OS.
Btw, the host-only adapter IP actually works on behalf of the host OS and can be used to allow the VM to access the host system. So if Internet is not required, the NAT or bridged adapter are not required. I'm not sure if many people realize that, since it's not really mentioned in the documentation. So if you use the host-only adapter, simply use the host-only IP instead of the host system real IP to connect the VM to the host OS.
I also switched to VirtualBox a couple of years ago, mainly because it provides more VM hardware options, is free and because of the ability to manage multiple virtual machines and group them together. I have about 70 virtual machines for testing and evaluating configured on my home computer. I also like the option in VirtualBox to clone a VM based on a Snapshot.
VMware provides a Virtual Network Editor in VMware Workstation (KB 1018697), which allows to customize any of the existing virtual network adapter or add new ones. The available technologies under any Type 2 hypervisor are very similar between different products:

    Hi!
I should map the existing transport management system landscape into ChaRM approach within SOLMAN.
The existing transport management system landscape has a lot of virtual systems with virtual transport routes.
Can some one of you explain the usage of such virtual systems with their virtual transport routes?

  • Virtual systems in SMSY? (Change Control Mgmt. & Change Request Mgmt.)

    Dear all,
We plan to implement Change Control Management (CCM) and Change Request Management (Charm).
At the current stage of the project, we do not have all satellite systems ready (e.g. production system is missing, Dev and QA are setup).
Nevertheless we want to start setup of Charm and CCM.
We understand that we have to "register" the missing systems in the STMS as virtual systems.
But how do we do that in the SMSY?
Do we enter the data manually? or can we "load" the data out of the STMS?
And what are the typical traps and errors we can make (i.e. hopefully avoid making). Anyone to share his/her experience?
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi Jan
    please see:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_smehp1/helpdata/en/9c/efa9068cce4149a40d7991ad2113f3/content.htm
    Goto SMSY
    Systems
Select your SAP XXX (like SAP ERP or SAP Netweaver)
    Click on your SID
On the right hand side you go to the tab "Header Data"
Here you can aktivate planned or production
If you are unable to see the planned button that this is because your setting for data source is not set to manual.
Than please click on the button "Other object" (SHift + F5), for System enter your SID and click on the lock "Set Datasource to Manual input CTRL+F9)
This will set your SID-System to manual adjustment - just confirm.
Than you can mark your system as planned
You will be able to add clients manually yes.

  • Do i neet to create Virtual system

    hi Friends,
I am going to install fresh ECC6.0 on AIX for Development system as well as for QAC system.... So theres going to be two installations of ECC6.0 (non-MCOD) on one AIX box.
    1. In this scenario i would like to know should i create Virtual System while assigning DEV as Domain Controller or i shouldnt create Virtual system..
    2. Why do we create Virtual System ?
    3. What if i dont create a Virtual System and Directly create a landscape for DEV and QAC as "standard system landscape for two system" would this strategy be fine.
What is the right methodology please suggest...
    Regards
    Ayush

    Hi Ayush,
If you have DEV and QAS, than you can just create "standard system landscape for two system" scenario 3.
Virtual system only use if you only have development only.
    Hope answer your question.

  • SMSY - System marked as Virtual System (TMS)

    Hi Experts!
We got an issue in our system landscape. In tx: SMSY our developement system gets marked as "Virtual System (TMS)" (tab header data) and we can not locate the reason for this. We can not use ChaRM while it is marked as virtual.
After reading system data remote (manually) it gets updated and is not marked as virtual anymore.
However, this morning it was marked as virtual again and I got no idea where this comes from.
Any help would be really apprecaited!
    Thanks.
    /cheers
Edit: The F1-help did not tell anything new. What I could imagine: there is a job updating this information and the time the job ran there was a problem connecting to the system. Hence it got marked as virtual. But this is jsut a guess.
Edited by: Christian Kaunzner on Apr 30, 2008 10:21 AM

Hi, check how your system is defined in the SLD. The daily "refresh" of the systems data stored in SMSY coming from the SLD could be your problem.

  • Two Virtual

    Virtual Machines
I have been trying to publish a website for a few days with FTP. Its just a simple html page but my laptop is running two virtual machines. So I uninstalled all of my Java application then reinstalled it; however, my problem still exists. Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is confusing me.
    Windows XP and JAVA Problems
Microsoft virtual machine (VM) is no longer included as standard in the Microsoft Operating system. This means that the copy I hve of Windows XP is unable to view java based web content. therefore I have installed Service Pack so I will try to download VM from the Sun Microsystems website's.
Are there any suggestions as to how to download Runtime as a fix or maintenance?

    Hi Bret,
There are several guides provided on Java support site regarding this, hope the below guides will help you resolve your issues.
    1) Un-installing Microsoft Virtual Machine
    @ http://www.java.com/en/download/help/uninstall_msvm.xml
    2) Switching between Microsoft VM and JRE
    @ http://www.java.com/en/download/help/switchvm.xml
Perhaps you might prefer to do step 1 and remove all existing JRE that you have installed.
Restart your computers and then Install the latest JRE downloadable from Java site.
    Warmest Regards!
