Chart plot in the form of decimal numbers

Hello all,
 I am facing  a severe problem regarding the plot using charts.I am, plotting some data on charts(charts only,plot style will be like impulses) and whatever the data on the charts the corresponding amplitude should be pasted as text on the below picture indicator exactly at the corresponding position.Can anybody give me an idea please?
Thanks and regards,

Hi smercurio_fc,
   I wonder whether the charts are also having cursors in your labview version.Which version of labview you are using?I am unable to put text on chart and you are talking about the cursors on chart which are  not in my labview version 8.5.Thats why i am using labview picture indicator atleast i could display the value as text on it.Please tell me if you got some other idea.
Thanks and regards,

  • I would like to read a text file in which the decimal numbers are using dots instead of commas. Is there a way of converting this in labVIEW, or how can I get the program to enterpret the figures in the correct way?

    The program doest enterpret my figures from the text file in the correct way since the numbers contain dots instead of commas. Is there a way to fix this in labVIEW, or do I have to change the files before reading them in the program? Thanks beforehend!

    You must go in the labview option menu, you can select 'use the local
    separator' in the front side submenu (LV6i).
    If you use the "From Exponential/Fract/Eng" vi, you are able to select this
    opton (with a boolean) without changing the labview parameters.

  • HT4060 I would lke to use an iPAD with chart plotting programmes. Is it possible to charge the iPAD from a 12Volt supply or do I have to use an inverter to get mains Voltage first?

    I like offshore sailing which means that I am without mains electricty for extended periods. I am considering the use of an iPAD 4th generation with a download of iNAVX which would appear to give an iPAD excellent chart plotting capeabilities. But how to keep it charged after the battery runs out? It seems very inefficient to have to use an Inverter to get a mains voltage, only to reduce it again to the level of a USB output!

  • Way to plot two variables on a chart by selecting the two variables on the front panel?

    Hello,
    I have created a VI to control a tensile tester which controls/outputs the following variables: time, load components in 6 directions, tensile displacements, displacements measured by a capacitance sensor.
    Is there a way such that there would be only one plot on the Front Panel, and there will be buttons on the front where I can select the variable for the x and y axis when the program is running?
    I only know how to make a plot using Chart Buffer using only two fixed variables.  The only way I think of doing this is making a plot for every single permutation of variables, then put those plots in Tab Control...is there an easier way?
    Thanks!

    I have done this a lot in applications to save realestate and simplify the UI.  Basically, I create an enum (or typedef) describing the x or y-axis values I would like to display on a graph.  Using an event structure, you can watch for a change in these selector and re-plot your graph.  You store your data somewhere (possibly in an array) and simply index into that array based on what you want to show.  I attached a short example to illustrate this implemenation.  Hope this helps.  (LV2009)

  • How to record and plot only the zoomed portion of a Graph or Chart?

    I'm using LabVIEW 8.6 and have problem plotting only zoomed part of a graph or chart onto other. Please help.

    Sorry, your VI makes absolutely no sense. First you slowly generate chart data, then you write it to a file, read it back from a file, do some exceedingly elaborate while loop that could be done with almost no code at all, then chart all data at once again. The stop button in the while loop makes no sense, because the while loop executes so fast that it is not possible to actually stop it while it is running, only if the button has already been pressed during the first FOR loop.
    What is the purpose of the two arrays? They don't seem to serve any purpose. Why are you getting the array size with every iteration of the loop? Once, right before the loop should be enough. Index array is resizable, so only one instance is enough. Instead, array to cluster is probably all you need.
    The sequence structure is only needed because you write, and then immediately read from the file. All you probably need is to write to the file and wire the 2D array to the seconds structure. Now we have a data dependency and the sequence structure is no longer needed.
    Can you tell us a little more how you are zooming. Do you want to zoom any of the two graphs and automatically zoom the other accordingly?
    As it currently stands, only the first chart gets data, so zooming the other one seems useless. Once the second chart has data, the VI stops and you can't do much either programmatically. Please explain how you are zooming.

  • I am trying to update a chart in Pages that I created in Numbers, but the refresh button does not show up after I save the Numbers file. Thoughts?

    I am trying to update a chart in Pages that I created in Numbers, but the refresh button does not show up after I save the Numbers file. Thoughts?

    It is hard to exactly understand what you have  done or not by you one sentence description. My thought is have you read in the Pages User Guide? Here is what it says about updating a chart in Pages:
    Updating a Chart Copied from a Numbers Document
    If you’ve created a chart in Numbers, you can copy it and paste it into your Pages document. After it’s been pasted into Pages, the chart remains linked to the data tables it references in Numbers. To change the chart data, open the original Numbers document and edit the data there, save the Numbers document, and then refresh the chart data in Pages.To update a chart after you’ve updated its linked Numbers table:
       Select the chart on the page and click the Refresh button that appears.
    Note: You must save the Numbers document before copying and pasting your chart into your Pages document and after editing the Numbers data tables that the chart references.
    I hope it has helped you.

  • Help with Multi point chart plot hile using the waveform data type..

    Currently I have two channels being transfered into the AI C-Scan block (by means of a build array) in hopes to display the outputs on a chart as well as an output file. As an outout I am using the waveform data type, as I hear this is the way to go. Problem is that I have the the Waveform chart directly connected to the waveform out put the the AI C-SCAN block but nothing is being displayed on the chart. Although the time is updated on the chart it is listed as the year 1903. I do have data these channels as the there are digital outputs for these channels. Perhaps I should use the AI CONFIG and AI READ clocks rather than this AI C-SCAN. Any ideas...

    Christian,
    Please see the Real-Time Chart shipping example for LabVIEW. This example describes how to set the base time of the chart so that the time and date are correct.
    You may want to autoscale the Y-axis as your data may be out of range of your chart and that is why nothing is seen.

  • How can I have a waveform graph (or chart) updated using the value propertynode without loosing previous data plots?

    I want to have a master waveform graph (or chart) capable of displaying data via the value property node. There are several value nodes in a flat sequence structure. The problem is that the graph (or chart) doest keep the previous data and does display just the very last value property node. Can anybody help me?

    A graph does not "keep" any data. It is strictly an indicator which displays the most recent values written to it.
    A chart has an internal buffer, called, Chart History which retains previously written data until the buffer is full. Then it removes the oldest data when new data is sent to the chart.
    1. Sequence structures are almost never needed in good LabVIEW programs. They defeat dataflow and limit parallelism.
    2. Value property nodes (and local variables) should only be used under special circumstances and a sequence structure is not one of those.
    A state machine with shift registers or a Producer/Consumer architecture are more likely to be better ways of doing what you are trying to do and can be implemented without sequence structures or Value property nodes.

  • How can we print the page numbers for TABLE OF CONTENTS form When its excluded from the form page count ?

    Hi Experts,
    We have TABLE OF CONTENTS followed by 100 forms with totally 215 pages.
    We have checked in the Exclude from form page count option for TABLE OF CONTENTS form in Group level.
    The forms followed by TABLE OF CONTENTS form all are using FORMSETPAGENUM rule in footer.
    the very first form followed by TABLE OF CONTENTS form the page number starts at 1 of 215 and the last form ends at 215 of 215.
    Now i want to print the Page number for TABLE OF CONTENTS form alone.
    How can we do that ?  Any thoughts ?
    Regards,
    RAMAN C

    Hi Raman,
    I guess, you have included 'Exclude Page Count' option in Table Of Content (TOC) form.
    There is a limitation in studio. The page number functions (FORM PAGE NUM OF/ FORMSET PAGE NUM OF) will be ineffective when we select the 'Exclude Page Count' option in TOC form. Hence, you was not able to print the Form Page Count in TOC form.
    The only way to print page count is to deselect 'Exclude Page Count' option. Then you can normally print the TOC Page Count in TOC form. However, thiS TOC page count will add to the Total formset Page Count. The Formset Page Count can be controlled through Postransdal using the script [FORMSET PAGE NUM = TotalPages() - 1]

  • One more nugget: Chart zoom with the "Mouse Over" effect

    Hello all.
    Just read my signature first, it might explain a lot. I do not intend to compete with Darren and I don't think this "nugget" (at least it supposed to be one) will amaze any of the LV veterans and this forum is rich of them. But maybe it will bring some new ideas to some of you or maybe it will be useful for some LV beginners (like me). It is very likely, my code will have some lapses, but please be gentle pointing that out to me. If you feel a need, you can always optimize the code and develope it further. Just don't forget to share!
    So back to the point.
    I am developing a project using LV. In my program there is a waveform chart which has to show 4 plots. Depending on the length of the X Scale, it sometimes gets hard to see the plots clearly because of their density.So I decided that I need a tool, which would zoom the chart in. And this is what I have came up with after a few "Google" searches to check which part of the bike is already invented and also a bit of programming by myself.
    Maybe you guys (at least the veterans) know the BetterVIEW Consulting LV example where they have implemented the Mouse Over effect. So a part of their example has been used in this tool and part of the credit must go to them. I thank them a lot
    This tool uses a cluster and its property of visibility to show/hide the cluster depending on if the current position of the mouse cursor is in the desired range or not. The program also gets the image of the chart and returns the subset of the image. The subset is taken for the area arounf the mouse cursor. So if you move the mouse, the zoomed in area will also chage in response. After that, the subset of the image is zoomed in for better view.
    The user might chage the zoom factor during the execution. Also it is possible to turn the zoom option On or Off if you don't wish to see it for the moment.
    This is how the front panel looks like:
    And this is the image of the block diagram (see the attached files for the vi, the VI Snippet tool distorts the code too much, so I haven't added it):
    I haven't found anything the same in the forum. Yet I'm a newbie here and I don't have that much experience surfing it. If it wouldn't be something new (in the forum, not necessarily to some of you personally), just ignore the thread. I hope this was worth your time and your attention.

    Very nice Giedrius.
    It takes guts to "step up to the chalk board" so I will do what i can to give you some ideas to think about. This is similar to the type of feedback I offer durring our in-house code reviews.
    1) The floating property nodes outside the loop are not sequenced by wires so they could execute after the loop starts. Sometimes this could cause weird errors. Seq with the error cluster.
    2) Property nodes can be re-sized so you can apply more than one property setting in the same call. Property node have to execute in the UI thread (which is single threaded) so using a single nodes will force a single context switch rather than one for each.
    3) Setting the same property repeatedly in a loop just burns CPU. THe Scale min for both X an Y can be moved outside the loop ?
    4) THe Wait Until Next ms" function does not get used in any of my code. It is not a way to get a fixed wait but rather a random wait. If you code completes 1 ms after the next multiple, the delay is double less 1 ms. If you have multiple loops using them and it f the delay for each are not unique prime numbers, then the "Wait until next ms multiple" is a good (cough cough) way of getting them all to wake up at the same time and fight for the CPU.
    5)An Event Struture to monitor mouse enter/leave and mouse move (this would have to be a sepearte loop) is easier on the CPU than polling.
    6) Is that math in the case to handle the Chart position on the FP? If so then using the property nodes for the chart to find its postion will let you code adapt to GUI changes.
    7) Right to left wires are not well recieved.
    8) A Bundle by Name is prefered over a "Bundle" since it is self documenting. I know the Picture function so I can see that is the rectangle you are specifying but reader not famliar with that function would not be able to "READ" the code without poking at it.
    9) THe event structure would also help with setting the Zoom factor. Only poke it when you have to.
    That is all that comes to mind at the moment.
    Again thank you!

    hi
    Use the BOX command
    Syntax:
    /: BOX [XPOS] [YPOS] [WIDTH] [HEIGHT] [FRAME] [INTENSITY]
    Effect: draws a box of the specified size at the specified position.
    Parameters: For each parameter (XPOS, YPOS, WIDTH, HEIGHT and FRAME), both a measurement and a unit of measure must be specified. The INTENSITY parameter should be entered as a percentage between 0 and 100.
    •XPOS, YPOS: Upper left corner of the box, relative to the values of the POSITION command.
    Default: Values specified in the POSITION command.
    The following calculation is performed internally to determine the absolute output position of a box on the page:
    X(abs) = XORIGIN + XPOS
    Y(abs) = YORIGIN + YPOS
    WIDTH: Width of the box.
    Default: WIDTH value of the SIZE command.
    HEIGHT: Height of the box.
    Default: HEIGHT value of the SIZE command.
    FRAME: Thickness of frame.
    Default: 0 (no frame).
    INTENSITY: Grayscale of box contents as %.
    Default: 100 (full black)
    Measurements: Decimal numbers must be specified as literal values (like ABAP/4 numeric constants) by being enclosed in inverted commas. The period should be used as the decimal point character. See also the examples listed below.
    this is a very time consuming task. well, hope this will help you

  • Scattered Charts Plots overlay-unclear explanation

    As did other questioners, I want to overlay two scatter plots. I use Numbers '09 on an iMac 10.6.8.
    To make a single scatter plot I have to select two columns of my 9 column table and then select the graph icon and select the scatter plot. I make a plot of columns A and I, and another of columns A and J. Jerrold Green said " it's as easy as selecting your second data set and dragging it into the chart."
    But I cannot seem to do that. I have the A-I chart and then I select columns A and J, but I cannot manage the dragging. Moving the mouse after making the selection just selects more columns. If I just select column J, then I can drag that to the graph, but that produces a cluster of points all lined up vertically, which is clearly wrong. How do I "select my second data set and drag it?"
    Column A is dates, and the other columns are numbers, so I have to use the scatter plot, and I cannot select the three columns to make the plot, that does not work,
    Bruce Shore

    Bruce,
    Make sure that you have selected Share X Values. It's on the Data Range menu in the upper left corner of the highlighted portion of your Table when the Chart is selected. Icon for the menu is a gear.

  • How can I draw two differenct plots at the same graph?

    [I am beginner]
    I have two different set of data which have differenct x-axis values. How can I draw two data at the same plot?
    For example, one data set is
    x y
    1 3.5
    3 2.3
    5 1.3
    8 3.2
    The other
    1 2.3
    2.5 5.4
    4 2.5
    If I use m_graph.plotXvsY two times. But it draw only one graph at the same time.
    Please let me know. Thank you in advance.

    Do you really need the two sets of data on the same plot or is what you really care about is that the two sets of data are in the same graph? If it's the former, then there's not much that you can do since a plot can only contain one set of data. You can append to an existing set of data by calling the corresponding Chart (for example, ChartXvsY) method, but the result is that the plot's data will appear continuous.
    If it's the latter, the way to do this is to add multiple plots to the graph and plot each set of data in a separate plot. For example, go to the Plots tab in the graph's property pages, add another plot, then here's some sample code that demonstrates how to plot the sets of data from your example above:
    double xData1[] = { 1, 3, 5, 8 };
    double yData1[] = { 3.5, 2.3, 1.3, 3.2 };
    CNiReal64Vector xDataSet1(4, xData1), yDataSet1(4, yData1);
    m_graph.Plots.Item(1).PlotXvsY(xDataSet1, yDataSet1);
    double xData2[] = { 1, 2.5, 4 };
    double yData2[] = { 2.3, 5.4, 2.5 };
    CNiReal64Vector xDataSet2(3, xData2), yDataSet2(3, yData2);
    m_graph.Plots.Item(2).PlotXvsY(xDataSet2, yDataSet2);
    Hope this helps.
