Chart will not plot points

Hello,
I am trying to make a chart from data I have collected for a biology project. I have inserted all the data into the table and have selected it all and chosen a line graph to plot the data When the chart appears however, the only data that is recorded is the dates on the x-axis, no points are plotted in the chart area of the graph.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Shan,
What version of Numbers are you using? And, are you really using OSX 10.6.4? When things don't work properly the first thing to check is whether everything is up to date. Run Software Update.

The XY Graph for PDA does not plot points or update. Input data is simple cluster of floating point data (x,y)in while structure. The axes scale properly with Configure PDA XY Scales.vi. Cursor legend also OK. Checked line and point attributes-OK. Running 7.0F1 and pocketPC2003. Please help.

Can you attach the VI so that we can see it? If you think it is a bug in the toolkit, rather than a programing thing I would suggest sending an e-mail to NI. In addition are you using eVT 3 or 4 or both?

DS 1.3 Charts will not release the selected Item.

I have problem with Design Studio 1.3 we developed a couple of dashboards with DS 1.2. Now we upgraded dashboards to 1.3. We used Chart selection functionality to filter values on other charts etc. We also using dynamic visibility if you click on a chart it filters another chart and disappears and brings a new chart. To go back, we used a button to clear filter and make the first chart visible.
Now, before upgrading after the chart disappeared and clicked on a button to remove the filters, the chart would release the selected item on itself. However, after the upgrade, this won't work because the chart won't release the selected item. It just keeps selecting even after we clear all filters and make it visible.
I have been searching and trying to find a solution for this, but I couldn't come up with some kind of idea. And in scripts and don't see setSelectedItem or setSelectedValue or reset the selection. etc
1. Create a button with the script below: (BUTTON_1) This will clear the filter and make the chart disappear.
DS_2.clearFilter("0PLANT"); //Map DS_2 to another chart
CHART_1.setVisible(false); //Chart using DS_1
2. Create another button with the script below: (BUTTON_2) This will set the chart visible.
CHART_1.setVisible(true);
3. Click CHART_1 and select item.
4. Click BUTTON_1 to clear selected filter.
5. Click BUTTON_2 to make CHART_1 visible again.
One you click the second button it will set the filter back which was clicked in step 3.
Does anyone have idea on this? How could I reset the charts' selection?

In Design Studio 1.3 (SP0 & SP1), enhancing functionality was delivered with the new ability of the user to bookmark design studio applications and recall these bookmarks within the application. This resulted in changes to the behaviour of charts wrt selection of chart members....
As I understand this, the issue here is really around chart selection not persisting in Design studio 1.2, while chart selection is persisted in 1.3 release.
In 1.2 release, when the original chart is hidden and made visible again , the chart selection is not present when the chart reappears, and does not need to be cleared. In this case the chart is rerendered in its initial state in the browser (no selection).
In 1.3 release, selection within the chart is now persisted in general, this can be seen when a chart with a selection is hidden and made visible. In this case the chart is rerendered with selected member present in the browser. By clearing this selection within the chart, the user is now firing again the OnSelect event. (This causes the chart to be hidden and data source filtered again).
The scripting attached to the chart just needs to be modifed slightly to cover this scenario. The result of the getSelectedMember() func call needs to be checked to see if a valid selection is returned.
For example :
var temp = CHART_1.getSelectedMember("0BC_TYPE");
if (temp.text != "") {
      DS_1.setFilter("0BC_TYPE", temp);
      CHART_1.setVisible(false);
      CHART_2.setVisible(true);
The addition of an "if" statement in this case (marked in bold above), checks that if a member within the chart is not selected, in this case no value ("") is returned, and the Data src is not filtered/charts are not hidden & shown as before.
So the issue in 1.3 SP1 is in relation to the persistence of the selection within the chart, which when cleared, fires the onSelect event again (resulting in undesired filtering of data src again).
Hopefully the above scripting will resolve this issue for you....

Line chart will not drill down

I am doing a drill down Group report which will show the Sum of Last year's Sales By Country, State and city over a period of time(by date) for throughout the year 2007. Every group will have a line chart with Data title as Sum of Last year's Sales ($), Group Title as Date and legends displaying countries (or states or cities) as USA,UK,Australia. etc.. I have same sort of line chart for State and City as well.
Now, the problem is my drill down would not work on chart lines or legends as it would do for a 2-dimensional data chart like a bar-chart or pie-chart. The reason is in the Chart Expert->Data->Layout:Group ->in the On Change Of event selection I am able to specify either Sales.Country (or) Sales.country and Sales.Sales.State. Both options would not let me get the correct linechart with correct data and drill-down working as well.
The only work-around i got is to display the line chart with legends and and showing the Country(or State or City) names in a field in the Group Footer. The drilling will work on those fields, but not on the legends or lines of the line chart. This make my report showing the Country names twice once on legend (with no drill-down) and once on group-footer(with drilling ability to groups below) which is untidy.
Have anyone tried to make a drill-down crystal report on a 3-dimensional data like this? The World Sales report in Crystal reports Samples\General Business\World Sales Report is the best example of how i would like to see my charts to drill down. However, they drill down across a 2-dimensional data. I am publishing this Crystal Reports in Business Objects Infoview.

Anyways - as Falk said. You should move or re-post this in the [Crystal Reports Design|SAP Crystal Reports; forum. They specialize in this sort of thing. Us dev guys here make sure we can see the chart without errors and don't do much beyond that.

PDF will not plot

I have a plotting problem. I cannot plot PDFs to our network HP1050c plotter. Others on the network can plot PDFs to the HP1050c so it is specific to my machine. I can plot PDFs to other printers so the problem is specific to the way my machine communicates with the HP1050c Plotter. We plot wide format, (up to 36X48), drawings. Has anyone run into this problem before. I am using Adobe Reader.

Hmm will that's odd I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
Personally I do like 9.4 but as you say like the edit/markup features in Reader X.
Installing Adobe is so automatic now it's hard to get both on one system without running into problems.
I am sure some has both successfully but I would think registry edits would need to be done, and it's more work than needed just for printing.
If you find the print as image does not work make sure your print drivers are up to date, and you are able to select the paper size in printer properties in Adobe. I know for some this is an issue fortunately in my case checking that box was the solution, just not sure why it makes the difference.
Hopefully Adobe will come up with something.

Chart Web Part to not plot zeros on a line graph

Hi all,
Is it possible to not plot zeros on a line graph?
I have a line chart with days of the current month along the x-axis and a value on the y-axis. I have a series representing a forecast as a line that will show what the values along for the whole month should be and a second
line chart series representing the actual. This tells the reader how the actual is tracking against the forecast. The data is based on an excel table.
Currently when the latest value is set the line skews back to 0. I don't want this shown, I just want it left blank. On excel you can change the zeros to na() and the line graph will not plot, however, if I leave them as na() in the source data, the whole
column wont be imported in the chart wizard.
Any ideas?

It's true -- the RangeBar chart type only has two field options (X and Y) while the RangeColumn correctly has an addtional Y field. The RangeBar chart should obviously have two X fields if it's supposed to plot a range, as the name and example image indicate.
Neither this thread or the one linked has led to an answer. Can this be fixed?

Is there a way to display the legend for a chart, but not the chart?

I have a stacked column chart and a line chart on top of each other. I can't use the legend for the stacked column chart because the data will change from month to month, and the 2 charts will not be aligned. I copied the stacked column chart to another part of the canvas and want to display only the legend, but the chart is still displaying. Is there a way to prevent the chart from displaying? Thanks.

we can show only the legend in a pie chart by dragging the edges to closer.do the following,
select the pie chart,select the edge of the chart and make it small and u ll find the pie chart shrinking.make it lean such that the pie chart disappear.
try this work around and let me know.

Hi,
You will not loose points for using the launcher, and not documenting the message classes. The folder structure is also fine.
Do document the other VI's, actors,and SubVI's. Remember be brief with documentation.

Reader x does not plot with HP 750c+

Never had a problem with plotting large format drawings before in Reader but since installing Reader X on my machine it will not plot to my HP 750C+. I uninstalled version X and found a link to download the version I was using before v9.4. Upon installing this version the problem was gone and i can again plot large format pdf drawings. There are new printing options in version X so something got messed up that I'm sure of. The new "source" option was acting odd from the other print drivers I have installed. It was greyed out. No matter what paper size selection I made Reader would not show the selected print size in the small preview...just stayed at 8"1/2x11 even though source was E1 size(30x42). If you tried to print/plot to this 750c+ device the dialog just closed real fast and did nothing....communication problem
I've solved the probelm by going back to version 9.4 but I thought I'd let the folks of Adobe know there is a problem for sure with the latest version.

no I could not cure this...they screwed it up. Actually for years I've had
problems with Reader plotting large format drawings. I have custom printer
setting for large drawings and prior to v9 I had to load the selected
printer twice or it would not use the right printer margin, size etc. Reader
x is no good at all as they changed stuff in the registry that the HP
plotter just doesn't set so Reader doesn't know what to do with it. I gave
up and uninstalled to go back to v9 and have not looked back. V9 is the way
to go

Chart does not update after table changes

Simple X-Y chart using a data series from a table. The chart will not update after changing the table, for example after applying a filter. The chart will update if you close and reopen the file or go to Select Data on the chart. I use named ranges
because you can't use table nomenclature directly in the chart series definition.

Seems to update for me OK. You need to apply the entire unfiltered range to the chart before filtering. Did you do this or filter first and only apply the visible range?
If not the answer to you query then maybe I am not understanding the problem correctly so can you upload an example workbook?

I have songs in my iTunes library that I burned from CD's. They play in iTunes and will sync with my iPad. They play fine on the iPad. However, the songs will not sync to my iPhone 4S. There are now exclamation points next to songs (can't find source).

I burned cd's in iTunes. The songs were able to sync and play on my iPad. After this, exclamation points appeared in iTunes on my laptop (unable to find source). They still play in iTunes but will not sync with my iPhone 4S. Do some cd's have a limit on the number of times you can copy them or is this an iTunes problem.

KiwiLouisa - I had the same problem. I was eventually able to distribute my content that was "Not eligible for iCloud" to my iPhone by switching off ITunes Match in both the ITunes app/machine that hosts my library (my Macbook Pro, in this case) as well as on the device to which I wished to distribute my content (my iPhone 6+). This opened up the option for my device iTunes Music settings for selecting "Entire Music Library".
After I successfully transferred *ALL* my music and music videos via iTunes sync, I then again switched on ITunes Match in iTunes on my Macbook and on my iPhone.
This does not change the iCloud status, but at least I have the content on my iPhone.

I get to the login screen and my laptop stops responding to clicks. When I manage to make my way back to my main profile the mouse works perfectly. Should I just delete the new profile and try again?

If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

HT3228 When I try to send an email from my Iphone it will not send and tells me the recepient will not allow relaying. The email will sit in my outbox and then at some point will send. It sometimes takes days. What is wrong with my settings?

The collum to the right listed similar problems. The solution appears to be that under smtp outgoing settings the user name and password are listed as optional. I have not plugged in the information and it seems to be working. However from my office it always allowed the relaying. The true test will be when I try to respond later from the road.

I am having the same problem. I have just tried this. Unplug iphone > open itunes > delete all music from itunes library > close itunes > re-open itunes > add music from original folder > plug in iphone > select songs > press sync > unplug iphone using eject button onscreen > checked phone .... still nothing in music folder on phone. On itunes the "On this iphone" tab the songs remain there but greyed out.
