Charts and/or illustrations ruin the formatting on my ereader

I've been downloading library books using the Adobe digital editions software for a few weeks now. This is the first book I downloaded that had charts embedded in the manuscript. Every time I come to one of the charts, the chart is reduced to a column of numbers, and the printing is scattered over several pages, and the font is limited to the smallest (extremely small) size. It is extremely difficult to read - moving forward one page for a few lines, then back for a few more lines, trying to figure out where this section ends and what page to continue on. I am SHOCKED!! After all these years, I thought Adobe was perfect! Do you know if this is a regular problem with this software? Or is it possibly my ereader causing this problem? Is there anything I can do to correct it?

It's most likely something in the HTML coding which is embedded in the epub file. From what I've seen ADE handles charts and tables as well as any ereader (which is not saying much really).

Before reloading, I would try deleting the preferences. It may not help in this case, but it is worth a try.
In case you need help with that:
Reset Preferences
1) Close the program and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (not reversible)
or
2) Move the Folder. See:

How can I use single hard drive for both Mac OS and Windows without changing the formats and reformatting?

I have a windows PC and a Macbook Air and a 1TB external hard drive. They said in order to transfer large files into the hard drive you have to change the format of your hard drive (which would be from MS-DOS to Mac Os extended) so how can I use my external hard drive on my windows PC without reformatting its files? Please heeeelp

Natively Windows can read and write to NTFS, FAT32, and exFAT while the Mac can read and write to FAT32, exFAT, and MacOS Extended.
Option 1: You can purchase driver software for Windows to allow it to read and write Mac's MacOS Extended or you can purchase a driver to allow the Mac to read and write to NTFS.
Option 2: you can format the hard drive for exFAT and use it with both Windows and the Mac without purchasing any special drivers. (Obviously the 4GB file size limit is why you don't want to use FAT32)

When I Print a Document to PDF and Save a PDF the format displays differently.

We use PDF with Microsoft Dynamics GP. When we Print a document to PDF the format of the form is fine. When we SAVE a document to PDF the format is off. We believe we have ruled out application issues.

We are opening the document with Adober Reader. The same Application was used for both documents.
This image was printed from the Application to a PDF and opened in Adobe Reader.
This is the same document from the same application, but when we SAVE to a PDF the format of the gridlines is off.

Unable to open PNG, save for web, and missing half of the format options under save as.

Using Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit with SP1.
When using Photoshop CC 64-Bit, i am unable to save for web, open PNG, or save as for about half the format options. I don't have any additional plugins installed, nor have I messed with the plugins folder.
When trying to open PNG files it says: Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.
Photoshop CC 32-Bit works without any of these issues. I'll be switching to 32-Bit until this is resolved. Hoping I don't have to uninstall/reinstall (Install files are huge and take forever to download and I don't know how to save them to the hard drive with CC, thanks).

Sounds like you are missing some of the required plugins - possibly an updater failed, or someone moved/deleted the wrong directory.
Yes, you'll need to reinstall to restore the missing plugins.

Why can't I set the date and time insert to the format I want?

I would like the date to be formatted in the short form on my docs. However whenever I insert date and Time it always come out at the long form i.e.
Monday, 15 April 2013.
Right clicking allows me to edit it but the next time I inset it the long form re-appears.
I've tried to do it via the system preferences > language and text > region > customise route but the same thing thing happens. I choose the short form at the top of the choices but it still comes out in the long form on the docs.
Only a minor point but it is irritating 'cos it should be simple (probably is 'cept I'm a bit slow).

I would never have thought of double or right clicking on the date itself. I haven't tested it to see what formats exist. One last suggestion, if we don't resolve it here, write a new post and put it in the iWork pages columns. There you may meet up with the gurus in that persuasion.

How to export to text file without ruin the format

Hi guys,
I need some help here. My company recently come with the decision to print the mainframe report file that usually come as a text file, to a virtual printer. This virtual printer is printing the report as Adobe PDF format. The problem is, my Line of Business have a macros on Excell file that will grab the information from the text file to be processed in the Excell format. I tried to use Adobe Professional 8 to re-convert the PDF file to be text file, but the result is, most of the blank space is gone, and it is align to left, thus make it unusable to the Excell file.
Unfortunately, I can't provide you the sample of the document, because it contain classified customer info.
But appreciate if you can give me some advice.

It sounds as if you are dealing with untagged PDF.
Tagged output PDFs, with a well-formed structure, provide (amoung other things) the ability to Save As/Export
content to some other applications with all or most of the layout/format intact.
I suspect that the output PDFs you have are untagged.
As there is, currently, a rather limited number of applications that support adequate tag management
(FrameMaker, InDesign, MS Word (via Adobe's PDFMaker & to a much lesser extent with Office Save As to PDF - XPS)
I suspect the mechanism used to provide your PDFs won't cut it with regards to providing a tagged output PDF having a
well-fomed structure (which would include dictionaries containing format/layout data).
As alluded to by Bernd, there may be third party plug-ins that might help.
The more reliable/functional ones tend to not be inexpensive.

Traffic light in Gantt chart and Colour change in the same.

I have designed an interactive ALV report and put a button in the output to display Gantt Chart. The Gantt chart is displaying fine after pressing the button based on the output.
I have two questions as below.
1) Is it possible to diplay Traffic light in Gantt chart output from an interactive report. Please provide the code as well as process.
2) How to change the colour of the fields like date or time field of the Gantt chart output from an interactive report. Please provide the code as well as process.

Hi friend,
For displaying trafic lights there is a simple options in the layout
under exceptions there are few fields,
lights_fieldname type slis_fieldname,
lights_tabname type slis_tabname,
lights_rollname like dfies-rollname,
lights_condense(1) type c.
First two fields will server the purpose if you need extra manipulation can go for other two also.
And for changing color in the fields there is an option called emphasize(4) in fieldcatlog which will do your purpose.
I think you know your requirement and code better so its better to adapt this in your logic the using our logic which will make you confuse.
if you want to highlight a particular cell in the ALV go for this codes in Wiki.

I got the new late 2012 iMac 21.5 inch in February and just realised there are some weird wave lines behind the glass where the camera is. i can't seem to wipe it off because its on the inside and it is ruining the light control of the camera.

Should i return it to apple and has anyone ever had this before? do i have to backup everything on my computer?

Is it blurry? As mentoned how light is your room? Light begind you will make your face dark to people viewing. As to backing up yes an external hardrive, timemachine backs up your mac, there are other ways but they all require extenal storage, since time machione is built in use it, if anything happens to your mac without it you loose everything. Always have backups.

Waveform chart to looking like this excel format

how can i take the data from the waveform chart and input it into the RAWDATA STRING so that it look like the format in the excel sheet?

Live Charts and Gauges in Interactive Reporting

Hi All,
Im trying to create a Live chart and a Gauge for my dashboard in IR 11.1.1.3 Ver.
I see the them in the design mode.. but when i try to add the FACT value it doesnt allow me to do it.
Even if i try to see the report in the run mode i get blank screen.
I tried even with a simple result which has
Fact Target
Service1 100
Service2 95
And can i use these Live charts and Gauges with Essbase as the source??
Is there any prerequisite for the Live charts and gauges to display the data..
Any document or post on the above problem will be helpful.

are you sure the adobe components are properly installed...can you open/view other analysis that use Live Charts or sliders/guages?

Select point on chart and retrieve more than just data

When dealing with a grid I can find the select cell value of column 1 or whatever column. How can I do the same thing by using a chart? In this example, I select the pen at a point on the chart and it gives me the data for it. I would like extract other values that identify that point like Date and Line. How can I do this?

I used your suggestion and "nLINE" is the 2nd column. So I replaced it with the number 2. I did the alert and I got no data in the pop up window. Now according to you, this means the data is not an integer. I know that nLINE in my database is an INT. So what could be the problem and what is the next step.

Charts and pivot tables are not generated in Seed Cache using iBots

I have been working on OBIEE cache. I encountered few issues.
1. We scheduled ibots to run daily and deliver dashboards to seeding cache. But the cache is not getting created for some reports which have charts and pivot tables in the dashboards .
We are using OBIEE 10.1.3.3.1.
2. When an end user logs in and access dashboard, the query is hitting the database.
3. The sql query for reports which got created in server cache are not the same as sql query generated when an end user logs in to access dashboard. The difference being query generated when an end user is accessing dashboard is using aggregates.
4. Please let me know if anyone has faced same issue and any solutions.

i agree with Vineet.Alternatively u can also place your Chart and then next to chart press "Enter".
The cursor moves down, then you can place your table.
Either ways its possible.

How to keep the format on IBR?

when I create the rendition with the image magick.
The extParameters is
<ïnFile$> <$ImageMagick_DefaultSet_Thumbnail$> "<$outFile$>.jpg"
The extension of the out file is hard code. I only want to resize the image and does not change the format.
How to make the .jpg base the orignal file extension? If I put the gif, the output file should be gif.
