Chase Online Banking

I've been using my Chase Online Banking on Safari for several years, and then today, I tried to set up a new password and the Chase Online Banking website kept stating I was entering an "invalid password". So, I called Chase and they are now informing me that they don't support Safari. Why would it work for all this time, then within 48 hours it doesn't? Sounds to me like Chase used the "no supported" statement as a way to get me off the phone.
Anyone have an issue with Chase, in the last 24-48 hours?
Thanks

Here are a a few other possibilities to try or consider:
1. Make sure you have cookies enabled.
2. If you've recently changed your Chase password but do not regularly clear out your Safari cache, that could cause problems with conflicting cookie data.
3. Go to Safari > Rest Safari... and select all the check boxes accept "Remove all website icons". Then, hit the "Reset" button. Navigate to the Chase website and try again. Yes, you'll lose all your saved names and passwords, your viewing history, etcetera, but it's not a great idea to keep that stuff around for too long. You should use bookmarks instead of preserving your viewing history ad infinitum. (I'm not assuming that you do this; I'm just providing a general guidance for readers of this thread who may preserve their browsing history for a long time.)
4. And finally, I know this seems obvious but I have done this too many times to count, incorrectly entering your password. I have sworn that it was not my fault and called client service before to reset my password and it has turned out that I simply was failing to enter the right case of a particular letter in the password.
Good luck!

  • 3 GS & Chase Online Banking

I have the original Iphone and have the Chase online banking app and it works fine. I d/l the same app for my new 3GS and it will not let me log on. I keep getting a screen saying that I need an activation number, which I get, but when I enter that and my password, it loops back to the original screen asking for an activation number. I have tried this more than 10 times and it still loops back to the original. Does anyone here have similar problems with the new 3GS and Chase ? Thanks in advance.

The chase website https://chaseonline.chase.com/ was down for maintenance this morning when I tried to log in. May be related. Seems to be up now, though.

  • Computer update affecting login to online banking in Firefox and Safari

Updated Macbook Pro, now not able to login to Chase.com. Error="Page isn't redirecting properly. Server redirecting request in a way that will never complete." Cookies are enabled, as is Accept Third Party Cookies. Multiple restarts to computer/Firefox so far. Cleared cookies, history, cache. Thoughts? I also tried to get to my online banking through Safari and had the same problem -- too many redirects.

Just a quirk as Chase updated its system. They gave me a bit of a scare as when I just logged in, I had to go through the process just like I was setting up my online banking again. Had to again choose preferences, paperless statements, etc. I then noticed there was a message in my online Chase secure customer message center that had notified us a month ago that they were updating online banking on August 5/6 and we'd have to login and confirm our preferences again at that point. It should work for everyone now --- just be prepared to "re-set up" your account.

  • When loading my online banking it says untrusted connection but when I try to add exception it says the site has a valid certificate and exception is not required, but still wont connect

When trying to connect to online banking this is what I get.
    This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect

Normally, when you try to connect securely,

    What Should I Do?
    If you usually connect to

Check the date and time in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.

Try to rename the file cert8.db to cert8.db.old in the Firefox Profile Folder to remove all intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored by visiting secure websites.<br />
If that helped to solve the problem then you can remove the renamed file cert8.db.old unless you have user certificates that you may want to export first and import them in the new file.<br />
Otherwise you can restore the certificates by renaming (copying) the file back to cert8.db<br />
Firefox will automatically store new intermediate certificates when you visit websites that send them.<br />
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Online banking site now shows login page as text-only; on different computer it still shows page with images and clickables -- is there a fix?

Previously when I logged in to my INGdirect online bank account, the login window came up showing images and clickable hotspots. Recently, the login window changed to a text-only version. On two different computers running Firefox, the login comes up in the previous version, with images and clickable hotspots. I'm unaware of having done anything to change my settings either in Firefox or on the banking website. Because it seems to be localized on this computer, I've tried downloading latest version of Firefox, but got no change, login still comes up in text-only format.

    Try clearing your browser cache.
Tools > Clear Recent History... - hit Details and make sure only Cache is selected, then select Everything and hit the Clear Now button.

  • When trying to log in to my online bank, I get error '80004005' default.asp.line48. What is this? I can login using another browser, but not on Firefox, which is my first choice. in English

I have used this online banking account for several years. Now it seems Firefox is not allowing me to see the login page. I used msn.com to try it and it worked. So it's Firefox that is the problem.

I just experienced this problem. The solution was to delete your cookies for tdbank (tools, options, show cookies)
I suspect there is something in the cookie that points to a database or some server that currently isn't active - it's 1AM now, so probably have a backup server up while they do maintenance or something like that.
Most likely the login page will have worked the next day for me.

  • How can I get rid of an important improvement idea concerned with online banking - preferably eMail address?

    So here comes the idea:
When in online-banking (quite commonly!) the page/portal of the Bank has to be abandoned f.i. to look up something else, or this happens acccidentally, the connection is forced to break with a timeout. No good for the system, worse for the user as all entries are lost and have to be done again. And to get into the portal again may take some time until on server-side the user-gate is closed, and next time the entry is usually hampered with stupid and tedious explanations.
Solution: An extra list in 'Extras' to hold all URLs where 'warnings' are wanted.
'Warnings': When a portal or page (URL) listed here is commanded to be closed or this happens unwanted, a prompt for y/n with "do you really want to close?"
Preferable structure of the list: Optional in addition to the URL i.e. in quotes or other appropriate delimiters the text of a deliberately chosen message to replace the standard warning.
PS: could be useful for many other applications also!

  • I can no longer log into my online banking website and have tried all of the suggested Firefox fixes apart from resetting Firefox, any other suggestions?

When I try to enter my customer number to log into my online banking website, an error message reads:
This form has been re-submitted. Re-enter your customer number and submit only once.
When I called the bank to find out if they could help they said it was a browser issue and suggested I should use IE or Chrome (No thanks!).
I have gone through all of the Firefox suggested troubleshooting fixes including deleting the cookie files. I have not yet tried resetting Firefox as I was hoping for a simpler solution before taking this step.
Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

  • I can no longer access my online banking account in firefox

I can no longer access my online bank account in firefox, although I can in IE. I can get through the login ID and security question, but when I type in my password and click on login, it consistently tells me I have the wrong password. I have no trouble logging in with IE. I have deleted my history completely, deleted the sqlite files from my profile, and done everything else I can find in the support area with no results. I have been able to access this website for years in firefox, and all of a sudden today I cannot. I called the bank and they even reset my password and tested firefox on their end and said they have no problems with it. I have not installed any new addons. I disabled firefox preloader. Any suggestions?

I see you are using LastPass. Could that add-on be interfering with your login?? You could try disabling it temporarily under Tools > Add-ons to test that theory.

  • Cannot get my "log in" button to work for online banking. Stopped working about a week ago. Checked Time Warner Cable and the Bank and they said it's on your end. Can you help?

I have been online banking with TD Bank for years now and have never had a problem getting into the log in. About a week ago when I would click on the log in button, nothing would happen however I can get into every other link on that site. I contacted TD Bank and they said that my account was fine and I was not locked out and there were no security issues. I then called Time Warner and they checked my service and said nothing was wrong with my service and that it sounded like it was from my server since I was going through Firefox, I should call you guys and see if it is the problem.

  • My online banking doesn't support 4.0b10. How do I go back to 3.6?

I would like to deinstall 4.0b10. Apparently this is a beta browser which is unsupported by my online banking account. I was doing fine with 3.6, so how do I get it back

On other platforms you can have multiple Firefox versions installed, having both the 3.6.x and 4 beta is no problem. I don't know if that is possible on Mac.
If you do not have the Firefox 3.6.x version anymore then download the full version of 3.6.13 from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
Drag the 4.0 beta version to the trash and install the 3.6.13 version.<br />
If you have problems with your [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] then you will have to create a new profile (recommended anyway if you downgrade).

  • How come version 3.6.3 will not allow me to access my online banking while version 3.6.2 can when they are both exactly the same setup?

I have two computers. Both had Fire Fox 3.6.2. I then upgraded one to 3.6.3. I then tried to access my online banking and I was unable to with the Version 3.6.3. I then went to my other computer and I had no problems accessing it with the one that has 3.6.2. On the computer with 3.6.2 that was upgraded i did not change anything. It has the same add-on, settings, etc. This happens to some other sites as well. I have read and looked through all the help files and nothing helped. I've done everything except uninstall Fire Fox and reinstall 3.6.2 (if i can find it) to see if that will work. I really don't want to do that but if i must then i shall.

  • Since a recent Firefox upgrade, I have a section of one of my online banking sites that will no longer open....says it is being blocked by Firewall. Wasn't a problem before I upgraded a few days ago.

One of my online banking sites runs contests to win cash from time to time to encourage use of the site. Prior to a recent upgrade of Firefox, I had no problem opening the necessary pages. I am now being told that those particular sites are being blocked by my Firewall. The area in question is basically a "flag" you click on to guess which of three "umbrellas" you want to open for a chance to win money. These flags are located in various parts of the online banking site; i.e., make a payment, transfers, summary, etc.

I can only guess because I've never seen such a message...
Does it help if you completely turn off Firefox's pop-up window blocker?
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Content > ''uncheck'' Block pop-up windows
You might want to check with the bank's tech support in case they've run into this before.

  • Macbook Pro on 10.5.8 online banking issues, + failed verify... help!

    Macbook Pro (late 2008) 10.5.8
I could not sign in to my online bankingĀ  (it would sign me back out immediately), and I was told by the bank IT that it is malicious software of some type on my machine.
I ran the Sophos scan (Sophos still supports 10.5.8 until April 2014) and it found nothing.
In disk utilities, I ran "verify" and it came up with:
    -Invalid volume file count.
    -Invalid volume directory count
    -Error:Filesystem verify or repair failed.
I have read through The Safe Mac, very helpful... I also disabled Java in both Firefox and Safari. This could be a source for the issues.
I do back up using time machine quite religiously... I am very worried about wiping and re-installing, I have a ton of inter-dependent software working beautifully, and cannot update any of the programs because nothing will work if even one of these programs is updated. So I really am married to 10.5.8, and this particular computer.
I realize it is time to bring my Mac completely offline permanently.
Any help or suggestions as to how to best proceed to keep it happy and keep what I currently have would be great.
    Thanks guys/gals!

A "live verify" (ie, a verify performed on the currently-running system drive) in Disk Utility is unreliable. It's likely that you have a problem, but not guaranteed. You'll need to repair the hard drive at a minimum. Instructions are here:
    http://pondini.org/OSX/DU6.html
In my experience, repairs aren't always that reliable. In addition, I've been told that modern drives do not have these kinds of problems unless they are failing, but have no personal knowledge relating to that and don't know whether your five-year-old drive would be considered "modern." In any case, though, if it were me, I would probably erase the hard drive and restore from backups if I were you, rather than relying on a repair.
If the repair can't be completed, or if erasing the hard drive doesn't work, or if the problem comes back after erasing or repairing, then the drive is probably failing and will need to be replaced.
Regarding the bank issue, I believe this is either an error on the part of your bank or represents an attempt to hack your bank account remotely. If I were you, I would demand (politely, but firmly) an explanation of what the bank saw that they are identifying as malicious.
I honestly don't know how the bank could possibly identify malicious access, unless they noticed an attempted access from a weird IP address (for example, from an IP address in a different country or belonging to an identity-hiding service), which would indicate a hack not involving your computer. If malware on your computer was attempting access to your bank site, it wouldn't really look any different than a normal access attempt to the bank's site.
