Chat attempts to sign in multiple times

Hi,
When I click on my ichat icon it brings up ichat, but then signs in and out multiple times repeatedly until finally ichat says it has locked me out due to multiple sign ins in such a short period of time. What is going on? (P.S. I have used iChat for awhile and have never had this problem)

Deleting com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist does not normally on it's Own force the Start Up Screen to represent themselves.
Depending on how your Keychain is set up it sometimes will ask you to renter you AIM valid Screen Name.
Try changing the login port in iChat menu > Preferences > Accounts > Server setting for the AIM (valid) screen name from 5190 to 443.
Also try it without the SSL login if in Leopard/iChat 4

  • User signs up multiple times

I have a simple email sign up form.  How do I create a page that says the user has already signed up so if they sign up again by accident, they don't recieve duplicate emails. I've read somewhere where they are not suppose to get the same email again, but that does not seem to be the case. I've signed up multiple times with the same form, and I still get the email.  However, in the DRM, it's still only 1 user which is good.  Any ideas?

    Hi Gregory,
There's no way to perform that kind of server side check and return an error message.

  • I have attempted to install iTunes multiple times but to no avail. I have installed every file, and followed every instruction on the support pages. I click download, and it takes me directly to the "Thank You for Downloading" page without doing anything.

I have attempted to install iTunes multiple times but to no avail. I have installed every file, and followed every instruction on the support pages. I click download, and it takes me directly to the "Thank You for Downloading" page without doing anything. I am running it on FireFox, and I have tried with Internet Explorer, neither have worked. I have been trying to do this for weeks now, and I am getting majorly frustrated. Please, help.

Perhaps try downloading and saving a copy of the installer to a different PC. (If you're on a 32-bit Windows system, try to download on a different 32-bit Windows system.) Copy the iTunesSetup.exe installer to an external hard-drive, or a large-enough thumb drive or burn it to a CD-R. Carry the installer back to your PC, copy the installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install from the ExHD, thumb or CD-R.) Start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.

  • BEING ASKED TO SIGN IN MULTIPLE TIMES

Although I have pressed the "Keep me signed in" button I am requested to "sign in" multiple times whenever I am on the Comcast site.  It is most annoying and I have made multiple requests to fix this but my requestes have been ignored.  Even when I am on the Comcast website that stupid button continually pops up "sign in."  Is there a solution to this or do I just get rid of Comcast altogether and go to Direct TV.  I am seriously thinking about doing just that.

From what I can se... your sign-in has a time limit...supposedly for security reasons, after which you will be automatically signed-out. Not sure why someone at Comcast would not explain this except that these forums are mostly monitored by customers, with the ocassional Comcast Rep (in RED) actually answering a few questions. As far as changing services... they do not seem to reponds to threats to change... and cancelling services just voids any 'special deals' you might currently be under in case you decide to try to return. The only winners seem to be Comcast...whoever 'they' are. Good luck

  • Signing a document multiple times without saving it?

    Hello all,
Can someone please tell me how do we sign a document multiple times without having to save the document after each signature?
For instance, I am a realtor and have to sign the contract about 3-4 times. However, when I sign it, Acrobat 8 prompts me to sign after each signature.
When I was using Acrobat 7, I could sign as much as I want and then save it. This is much more efficient and practical.
    Can anyone advise me?
    Thanks in advance.
    Geo

    Hi Geo,
It may be more cumbersome in version 8 (and 9), but it's safer. In version 7 and earlier when you signed, Acrobat did everything in memory. You weren't prompted to save the file to disk until you wanted to close the file. The problem is computer memory is where the bad guys get into to make changes. The majority of computer vulnerabilities occur when the hacker escapes the allotted memory space (aka buffer overflows) and reads and writes to memory address that they shouldn't be in. Think of memory being divided up like a row of houses along a block. The bad guy gets out of his house and into yours, and that's where bad things happen.
Beginning with version 8, signature operation all take place on disk, not in memory. It's slower, and as you pointed out it's more cumbersome, but it's safer. The file is committed to disk (the hard drive) before the signature is created and the signed bytes cannot be manipulated in the middle of the signing procedure.
Interestingly (at least to me), when we had this discussion four or five years ago when the change was made, the example used was of mortgage contact being signed where any of the terms could be changed in memory prior to the signature being completed. It was just a bunch of geeky engineers sitting around a table discussing possible vulnerabilities with the current signing operation (i.e. signing in memory). To see the theoretical example in actual use is kind of exciting (granted I don't get out much ).

  • Asked to enter PIN multiple times when sending Digitally Signed emails

Hey everyone, I have been having a very difficult time trying to figure out why my co-workers and myself are being asked to enter our PIN multiple times when digitally signing emails.  My co-workers are looking to me for a solution, however
I just cannot seem to find any information on as to why this is happening.  Could anyone possibly shed some light on why this may be happening?  Thanks in advanced!!!
P.S. We are using Outlook 2013

    Hi,
Let's troubleshoot this issue by the following steps:
    1. Start Outlook in Safe Mode to determine whether it's 3rd-party add-ins related:
Press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter.
If no issue in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which on caused the problem.
    2. Go to Control Panel and search for "Manage computer certificates" then open it, find the certificate and right click on it, choose Properties -> under General tab select "Enable all purposes for this certificate" -> Apply ->
    OK.
    3. If you create a new Outlook profile, does this issue persist? A new profile will provide a new environment for the account and it will not remove any information from the old profile. A profile corruption may be the source of this issue.

There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage.   There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.
I would just wait it out - I'm sure it will be sorted out soon.

as you can see its attempting multiple times a second and i cant work out why, im assuming this is whats causing the slow down.
Could anyone elucidate on whats going on here?
    Many thanks
    Sam

Yup, i'm a totally bloody idiot.
I'd created a rule that blocked nsurlsessiond from connecting to anything. I dont remember doing it but i clearly did. I probably should have probed around more before coming here.
    Cheers for youre help

After the restore did the phone work properly for a while? Say, a day or so?
If so it is possible you have an app that doesn't let go of memory properly. I reboot my iPhone ( hold sleep/wake and hole till you see the apple logo) every few days. This resets the memory. The iPhone OS has doesn't seem to mange memory very well yet. So a reboot will help with that. I have had my phone almost slow to a stop before I started rebooting. Always reboot after installing a new app. Also do you close all pages in Safari when you are done? This is a good practice. Safari will run in the background and use processor time and drain your battery quicker. Create a new blank page then close all others when you are done browsing for a while. I have also found that certain web site that have animated images like weather maps will turn the phone into molasses. As soon as i close that page it gets faster.
If all of the above have no effect then as Tamara said it is time for a trip to the Genius bar.
    Good luck

  • Have restarted my computer multiple times, because of ios5 and it is still freezing at the same loading spot each time of the download. this is my 10th time attempting at updating the software

i have plugged in my phone attempting at the new ios5 download multiple times and to begin with it claims to me that it cannot restore my ipod but gives no reason. but i continues with the download, and now i have a blank iphone with no data on it at all, says to plug it into itunes, so i do and it freezes in the same spot about a tenth of the way full of the bar below the apple logo.

roadpup27, having multiple replacement devices is no fun! I'm sorry you have to endure this experience with your phone. I would like to help with your issue and ensure you that we do not anticipate our certified like new phones having issues. They go through a 100-point check and in most cases work just as well or better than a new phone because they have updated software. I hope your replacement phone works for you so that you do not miss any events or be delayed. Although we can not compensate you for your phone issues, we will continue to replace your phone until you have a working device if the phone is under warranty. Please keep us posted.

  • Caught in a loop when attempting to Sign In to iTunes for the first time.

I created an Apple ID and downloaded the lastest version of iTunes for Windows.  When I attempt to Sign In, the system gives the following message: "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes store.  Please review your account in formation."  I select "Review" and am given a number of options to link a payment method.  I choose PayPal and go through the linking process. No problems there. When done, however, it returns me to the main screen in iTunes and gives me the opportunity to Sign In again.  I then get the same review message as before.
Am I doing something wrong, is it a system thing, is it a PayPal thing?

Might be an idea to get a clean copy of the installer. See the direct download links in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

  • IChat Error: "attempted to login too many times" problem/solution

*I don't know if its okay to post a new topic/question then answer it, but i was having this issue and finally found a resolution so i wanted to share it with everyone.*
_*Your problem:*_ You Log into ichat then it suddenly begins to act crazy- logging in and out multiple times for no apparent reason... then its gives you the message, yes THE message "You have attempted to login too often in a short period of time. Wait a few minutes before trying to login again".
You silently think to yourself, "w.t.f". lol.
Okay, well different things worked for different people, it just depends on the time, the moment, and whether or not ichat wants to act right...
    SOLUTIONS:
    1. Change to SSL
Go to iChat Menu --> Preferences --> Accounts --> Server Settings --> then check "Use SSL"
    2. Use Port 443
    iChat--> Preferences--> Server Settings --> Use port "443"
    3. Delete the user from my ichat accounts, by pressing the minus sign. Then waiting a couple minutes just to make sure that I would not get the logged in too many times error and re added the account.
*4. THIS SHOULD MOST Definitely WORK:
1.) Quit iChat if it is already open, and then open Finder.
2.) Browse to your user folder (can be found by clicking on your main hard drive, then going to Users > Your Username.
3.) Open the Library folder and go to the Preferences directory.
4.) You’ll see a long list of files with a .plist extension. The one we’re looking for is com.apple.iChat.AIM.plist. When you find it, delete it by dragging the file to the trash.
5.) Launch iChat and this time you should be able to sign in to your AIM account successfully. iChat will automatically rebuild the preference file you deleted.
    _*More INFO:*_
Now some people may wonder "Why is this happening to me" I'll tell you why:
The cause of the issue most likely roots from using your Mac at multiple locations (such as home, school, or work), which could lead to the preference files somehow getting corrupted. It sounds serious, but really shouldn't take more than a minute or so to resolve. Just follow the above steps...
I wish I could take credit for all these, btu I just pulled them from different sites and forums, including forums.macrumers.com and macyourself.com
I hope this helps someone out there Good Luck.
Oh and feel free to add other ways to fix this weird issue.

  • Horrible Experience While Attempting to Sign up

I attempted to sign up through the website while chatting with a sales agent. The agent assured me several times that I would have no deposit if the site did not ask me to pay it by a certain point. I even asked once it said pending deposit verification and was told that it would not let me submit the order without the deposit being paid if I would have to have one and since it didn't ask I would not have one. I had the transcripts of the chat sent to my email. The next day I get an email from Verizon advising that I would have a $400 deposit. When I brought this up to a chat rep they advised that there was a misunderstanding and it could not be honored. When I called in to speak with a manager they advised it could not be honored. Then she found out I had the transcripts and I emailed them to her. She stated she would get with the credit department and get back to me. This was on August 12th, as of today (August 16th) I still have yet to hear anything. I am ready to go to the BBB about this as it is horrible customer service and a horrible way to do business. When something is put in writing it should be honored. However, it appears that Verizon does not want to do this ... After assuring me that paying a little extra each month was worth it due to the excellent customer service they have and the signal service they have. Well ... As far as I can tell about the customer service it is far bellow expectations. As I work in a call center, and have done so for over 3 years now ... This would not be acceptable. I have reached out several ways and have not received any help ... WOW ... What a great way to show someone that you want their business!

Where I see your point that I am just one person ... However, it is also known that people are more likely to tell others about a bad experience than a good one. Also, unlike some customer/potential customers that are not happy I am more than happy to tell anyone that I can ... And working in a call center I know how to get my thoughts and message out to people. I know how to use the internet/social media to my advantage!
This is very true. The thing with Verizon is that SO many customers have had great experiences with them (me, for example) and have had absolutely no issues with Verizon, but have had NUMEROUS, ridiculous problems with the other providers. You can tell all the people you want, but those who have had no problems will stick with Verizon. They are a fantastic company. Every single one of the negative posts on here that are directed towards Verizon as a whole are completely incorrect. ALL of them have one or two specific reps that they've had a bad experience with, and they go on a rant saying VERIZON screwed them over. No, that rep did. How would you like it if you had someone in your family who was a mooch, did drugs, and never amounted to anything, and whenever anyone interacted with them, they thought the same of you just because you are associated with them? Same thing.
Basically, you're preaching to the choir when you're telling all your friends/family not to go with Verizon, because the only ones who will listen already HAVE problems with them.

  • Charged multiple times and still don't have premium

I was attempting to get the student discount for Spotify, but it kept saying that It couldn't verify me as a student. I kept re-checking my information and it was correct and still no signs of working. I looked on my bank statement this morning and i was charged 3 times with the student discount. when i got on spotify it still said i had a free account. Can i just get my money back so I upgrade again to Premium without the discount, because apparantly it doesn't work.

Hi, and welcome to the community!
Please note it can take some time for a premium subscription to activate across all devices.
    1) Have you checked your Subscriptions page to make sure you are successfully premium?
    2) Try logging out/in and reinstalling Spotify.
    3) Make sure you're logging in with the right account; it's very easy to have both facebook and Spotify details!
If your subscriptions page says you're on free and you have been charged, then it is likely you subscribed to the wrong account, try logging in with whatever you didn't login with to check.
If it says you're on premium, see 2.
Once you've located the account with premium:
THe fact you've been charged multiple times should just stack the subscription. If you check the subscriptions page linked above, you should see the month of renewal, and it should be 3 months away.
If this is not the case, for a refund you can submit an online contact form; someone at Spotify can see if they can do that for you.
Once you get an automated reply; make sure to reply to it directly (even if it's from a no reply); and it will be sent to the Spotify staff.

  • A music album is listed multiple times in my library but each listing only has a few songs in it-not the full listing.  How can I combine them into one album and get rid of other duplicate listings?

Several music albums listed in my IPhone 5 music library are listed multiple times, but each one only has a portion of the songs listed.  How can I combine them to make one album?

First....Thank you so much for your prompt reply.  I am sorry for not getting back to you regarding your suggestion-I had computer issues that just got resolved.  Also, this is my first foray into online chat rooms so I have a lot to learn to precisely state my issue!  I did as you suggested and all the songs list the same album when I go into each song's "get info".  However, I am not sure how to edit as you suggested. When I downloaded this album originally, for some reason it broke up into several albums each with different songs from the original album.  I am trying to consolidate them back into one album in my library.  I would greatly appreciate further assistance if you can.  Also, I do not use "the cloud" to store any data and would like a good source of info on how to do this.  Thanks so much for your patience!
