Chats in one grouped window, most recent pops up

Hi
I installed Beta because my sister doesnt like IMing, and I don't like texting at work. Anyway--
I have my all of my chats into 1 window, but one thing is really annoying me, how do I stop from a chat going up to the top, when a new message is sent(either by me or the person i am talking to).
with Ichat, i have my chats arranged so I know which row I am talking to.. I am afraid of saying wrong thing to the wrong person. So is there a way to turn that off? Plus it is distracting too!

I am aware that you are talking about the main Message Window (it will come to the Front if your Use the CMD and 0 keys together when Messages is the Front app - see Window Menu).
I agree that the most recent Buddy (or contact) does go to the top of the list of Chats.
The only exception I can find to that is if you have Clicked New Message.
The thing I was then referring to was the lack of "Buddy" pics for two of those Chats.
For example I have started three chats with Buddies (The Apple Test accounts) and one iMessage Contact (my own phone which the "Front" chat) - and I put in the New Message bit.
So...
In my Buddy List everyone has their own Buddy Pic.
In my Address Book (Contacts List) most have a similar pic, either because they were Buddies first for me and I added in "Real Names" later or I have chosen the pic in some cases (daughter, son, wife and the odd friend)
What I was trying to get at was I can tell which person I am chatting with from their Pic.
Also once the list has been established the new IM is shown in which chat by a blue Indicator.

I have found a temporary solution, allowing the previous version of iTunes (v. 11.1.3 (x64) in my case) to be re-installed. It will allow you to re-establish use of iTunes until the Apple software engineers fix the most recent disasterous upgrade (v. 11.1.4). Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings
If you have iCloud set up do this first then the above
SEttings > iCloud > Find my iPad > Slide to turn it off.

Can you get an earlier iCloud backup ie the one before the most recent

I restored my iPhone 4S from iTunes forgot to backup before. I want to know if it is possible to restore my phone from an earlier iCloud backup as the last iCloud backup is now from after I restored it. I didn't realise my error before it was to late!

Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. This will erase your device. Then you will go through the setup screens again as you did when your device was new, and when given the option, select Restore from iCloud Backup.

Repair iTunes Security Permissions
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Securitytab and click Advanced. Use the Change Permissions... button grant to your account (or the Users group) and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to Replace permissions entries... which will repair permissions throughout the library. When complete switch to the General tab, click in the Read-only check box to clear it, then click Apply.
If you don't have the option to change the permissions then use the Owner tab and Edit... button to take ownership from an account with administrator privileges. Tick the option to Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.
Repeat with the media folder if it isn't stored inside the main iTunes folder.
If you've brought over the library from another computer you may also want to remove any "mystery" identities (S<string of dashes & digts>) that have come over from the old computer...
The images above are from Windows 7. Hopefully the system isn't too different in Windows 8.

Sorry, I don't think that is a message from inside Firefox, the wording doesn't sound correct - at least the beginning of that message. My "gut" thinks that is a MSN Live message to explain and compensate for their lack of security with a re-direct from a secure domain to an un-secure domain. ''(the end of that message)''
{Ctrl + Shft + J} will open the Firefox Error Console - I'm curious what Firefox has to say about that situation. If you find the error message for that domain, you can right-click the message to '''copy''' it and then paste that error message here.
Maybe '''TonyE''' or '''cor-el''' will be more familiar with the situation at Live and maybe at Google Reader, I don't use either of those services and have never seen a message like that myself.

I can only see the most recently imported "event" in a pop up window

I seem to have lost access to the administration bar that is normally on left hand side of the iphoto view. So I cannot access source list, albums - or any of my old pictures. I basically am just looking at the most recent event (today's pictures) imported.
the iphoto library is still 21GB so I have not lost the photos - I imagine a corrupt file somewhere?
I am using iphoto 2008 (7.1.5) that came with my macbook 10.5.7 - not ilife.

Move your cursor to the left hand side of the window and when it turns to a + click and drag the source pane open
Or quit iPhoto and delete the iPhoto preference file - "your username" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist - when you launch iPhoto reset any personal preference you have changed and if you have moved the location of the iPhoto library repoint to it

Clicking on Dock icon only brings most-recently-used window to front

In Leopard, clicking on the iChat Dock icon would bring all iChat windows (contact lists, chats, etc.) in front of other open applications, and give focus to the most recently used iChat window.
After installing Snow Leopard, clicking on the iChat Dock icon only brings the most recently used iChat window to the front and gives it focus -- other iChat windows remain behind other application windows (if that is where they were before).
Is this just me? My friend tells me that it still behaves like it did in Leopard on his computer. Any ideas?

With Chax in Leopard/iChat 4 an extra item was added to the Window menu of iChat that says "Always On top"
No, this is not what I was looking for. I have another machine with Leopard, and it does not have Chax -- iChat windows are not always in front, but they all come to the front when clicking on the Dock icon.
I don't use it on the Buddy List as you can set it on Any iChat window.
What do you mean, "you can set it on Any iChat window"? You mean the Chax setting, or something else?
Are any Minimised to the DOCK ?
No, none are minimized to the Dock.
Chax does not work in iChat 5 and may be the cause of the issue.
There is a beta version of Chax for iChat 5.
I would delete Chax and then the com.apple.ichat.plist to remove any thing in it that refers to Chax and then relaunch iChat.
I deleted Chax and every Chax and iChat plist, then restarted my computer. The problem did not go away -- still, only one window comes to the front when I click on the iChat Dock icon -- the others stay behind other windows.

I'm trying to recover a file and the app company said to restore from an earlier backup. My iPhone only shows the most recent backup. I've been searching the net for answers - I found the back up file and date sorted them (over 6mb of files). How can I get my iPhone to restore from an earlier backup?
I am on Windows Vista so I don't have Time Machine.
I have backed up the backup folder so if I mess it up, I have it in a separate place.
Can I just delete all the files with todays date in that backup folder and have it forced to the next oldest date?

As you backup the iPhone in iTunes, it overwrites the last backup. Files are kept as they are changed, so that would explain how you get different dates in your backup folder. The only backups that are saved and not overwritten are the ones done just prior to a restore. You do have the option to go back in time on a Windows computer, however depending on the last time you set a restore point in Windows, it could be back further than you are willing to go.

For unknown reasons iTunes will no longer open. I have an HP laptop running windows 7 with Kaspersky protection. It worked fine before but now won't open. I tried downloading the most recent up-date and it will still not open. Any suggestions?

Recent history for Premiere Elements points to the program having problems when more than 1 video card/graphics card is
being used by the computer on which Premiere Elements is running. This observation may seem contra indicated by the fact
that you say that the program did work well about 2 years ago in the same setup. But other factors may have set in with regard
to drivers, drivers versions, and driver conflicts. But this factor, does need to be ruled in or out.
Can you disable one or the other card to determine the impact of this on your problem?
But, of prime concern with regard to video card/graphics card is the use of a NVIDIA GeForce card with Premiere Elements 10.
Even if your NVIDIA GeForce were the only card, Premiere Elements 10 will not work properly unless the NVIDIA GeForce driver
version is rolled back to about May 2013. This may be one of the major factors here.
a. Device Manager/Display Adapters and find out Driver Version and Driver Date
b. Read the background information for the Premiere Elements 10/NVIDIA GeForce issue

Add On...This NVIDIA GeForce situation is specific for Premiere Elements 10. You should not expect to see the problem for
later versions of Premiere Elements.

Windows 8.1 and most recent version of Airport Utility. Error message 6722 during connection.

New computer with Windows 8.1. I have downloaded most recent version of the Airport Utility. The utility finds by airport express but during connection I get error message -6722. I suspect Windows 8.1 is not compatible with my first generation Airport Express but before I buy a new one would like to know for sure.

More compatible than v2 of the Express which you cannot configure from windows.. all the later airport routers need v6 utility to configure them.. and this is not available for windows.
These issues arise due to all sorts of things.. the error message is very unclear in its meaning.
Plug the Express into the computer by ethernet. Do a factory reset on the Express and see if you can set it up by ethernet.
Wireless products can be a problem. Set the Express to fixed channel, 11, 6, 1 in that order.. with no security and a simply name, for both the express and wireless. No spaces and pure alphanumeric.
If the computer cannot connect under the most ideal situation nothing else will fix it.
If you have an ipad iphone with iOS v6 or later then you can use the apple version Airport utility which is much more likely to work than windows.

I am new to SSAS and cube world so my problem might not be big of a challenge for you but it is for me.
Here is my challenge :
My simplified datamart relation star schema model looks like this (2 dimensions and one fact):
DATE dimension - Date_Id, Date, Fiscal_Year, Fiscal_Quearter, Fiscal_Month, Calendar_Month, etc
CLIENT dimension – Cient_SK, Client_Id, and two SCD2 type fields : Status,and Class and, of course, Start_Date, End_Date to keep track of SCD2 along with a Current_Flag . I can have several records for the same Client_Id
over a given reporting period.
FACT – Date_ID, Client_SK, Client_Id
Fact table is daily snapshot that loads one record per client only if a client was active on that day.
Requirement:
Count number of currently active clients group by “Status” or “Class” with option to roll-up to the total count of clients
Count total number of clients who were active in the specific reporting period (period can be fiscal year or fiscal quarter or a month) grouped by the most recent “Label” or most recent “Status” or most recent “Class” in that reporting period.
I created a cube and created a measure “Distinct_Count” that does just that - distinct count on Client_Id. It works just fine for current date as well as for any given reporting period and I have nice rolling-up/down thru Fiscal_Year-Fiscal_Quarter- Month.
But I am having problem grouping by any of 3 attributes with SCD2 type in CLIENT dimension. I do not know how to get the latest active value (member) in the reporting period

For example:
If selected reporting period is Fiscal_Quarter is Q2 that covers period Aug-Sep-Oct (Client_SK: 89, 95, 97) and if my client was active in that period, when I group active client’s count by “Status”
attribute I need to count this client in the group “Good” since that was the most recent value for this client in this period (Q2) for this attribute (Status).
I do not know if this is important but just in case: user interface could be Excel application or any MDX enabled Microsoft or third party visualisation tool.

Messages window does not pop up when a chat is received

Help!
In the Messages app, when a chat is received, the Messages window does not pop up! (Like it did with the old ichat.) When a chat is received, it makes the noise, the icon bounces in the dock, and a red bubble is on the icon with the number of new chats.... but the messages window does not come forward. This is the most frustrating thing ever! I've been missing so many chats because I'm not staring at my dock. How do I make the messages window pop up when a chat is received?? Please help!!
(I just upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion...lost ichat, gained the Messages app, and this issue is driving me nuts!)

I am not sure you can.
By Default iChat could "Hide" any window such as a Buddy list.
A new Invite put up a Invite window first that you had to Accept (Or set Auto Accept).
This triggered the appearance of the Chat window.
This does not happen in Messages.
There is not Invite window now to any Form of Text chat invite.
As a consequence there is no Trigger for the Chat window.
Add to that the Messages main Window is an interface window as well as the Chat window.
This puts it in the same category as Buddy List which has to be called back (unhidden) into view with either Keystrokes or the Window Menu.
A click (or possibly two to first bring Messages to the Front) on the DOCK icon also tends to reveal the Messages window.
You can set the Messages > Preferences > Alerts for New Messages and Text Chat invitation to Bounce the DOCK and Play sounds to help.

Need to Update Flashplayer but I have the most recent one.

Hi. I will start by saying that I am computer illiterate, so I will need careful and patient help. Here is my issue: Whenever I try to play a video, You Tube or otherwise, I am told I need to update flashplayer. When I go to update it, I am told that I need to close windows messenger. According to my settings, messenger is disabled. Whenever i get rid of the messenger box, I am told that installation is incomplete. Also, according to my settings, I have the most recent version of flashplayer installed, 10.1.102.64, the one for IE.
On a totally unrelated note, what is the difference between Spyware and anti virus protection? I have McAffee.
Will appreciate your help.

I need your computer info, as XP, Vista, Win7? Also what version of the IE browser? If you don't know, go up to Help at the top of the IE and click on it, then About Internet Explorer.
