Chats in Tiger, between Comcast and Time Warner don't work

My iChat worked when I was in 10.3.9 and iChat 2, with someone operating 10.4.10 and iChat 3. Since I upgraded to 10.4.10 and iChat 3, our chats get the "bandwidth" errors, even though I've set those in QT. My isp is Comcast. Their isp is TimeWarner.
The only parameter I can see that has changed, is my upgrade in OS/iChat. All equipment and software on their end is the same. All equipment on my end is the same.
I have a Scientific-Atlantic modem and a Linksys WRT54G router. I can chat with the test sites fine. My actual upload speeds are around 280 KBps according to speedtest.net. I don't see any options on the router for opening ports, only port forwarding. I'm a little confused about what to set for the static ip address. Is that the number it says in the Network pane for IPAddress:, the one under Configure IPv4 using DHCP.

Realistically this can be several things.
First of all if they both use a device in which they have to use Port Forwarding then it is possible that each end does not like the way the other does NAT (Network Address Translation).
The modem or routing device adds info about how the packets coming back should be addressed to get to the right computer.
There are about 6 main ways of doing his and not all "Play Nicely together" all the time.
Secondly it can be the way Comcast or in this case Roar Runner stream their Data to try and make the whole network the run effective.
If one is on Tiger and one on Leopard there is a new issue (Potentially).
On some devices Port Forwarding is the only choice.
For Tiger users iChat 3 needs 29 ports plus two setting on some for UDP and TCP Protocol.
On those devices that need one port at a time entered this can be 31 entries.
They can also have a limited table to enter them into.
If they want to do Bonjour, Jabber and AV chats they may not be able to enter all the ports in.
So they are likely to do 5190 (twice), 5297, 5298 (twice), 5353, 5220, 5222, 5223 to text chat on AIM, Bonjour and Jabber and then 5060, 5678 to Start the AV chats and as many of 16384-16403 (the Group of 20) as they can fit in.
iChat 3 uses the lower port 4 at a time for a 1-1 chat in Video or Audio only so just the lowest 4 of the Group of 20 may be all they have added.
iChat 4 on the other hand uses a group of 10 (16393-16402) but starts at the highest. It does the same bit as 5060 and the 4 ports on one single port.
It also starts at the top of this group. If it can not connect on this port it drops down one port at a time until it is successful. (or tries a random port as a last ditch attempt.
As you can see in these circumstances there is potentially a gap in ports.
I can not see this effecting many people but it is something to be aware of.
Sometimes talking to the ISP can improve thing even when the deny anything they are doing is going to effect iChat.
I have heard of some Comcast customers rebooting their Modem.
This seems to keep a more stable high Connection speed for longer for some reason. (my favourite fantasy on that is that the Comcast server regards them as a new Customer and does not introduce the Bandwidth/data stream management til later).
Basically try every speed setting in the iChat> Preferences > Video Section > Bandwidth Limit drop down to find if anything works.

Aperture 3 and Time Machine don't work well together

I've noticed that my Time Machine (10.6.2) creates large backups (at least 250 MB) when I've only opened up Aperture 3. No retouching, no adding of photo's (of course), no changes. Just opening Aperture and a bit of scrolling.
Is there a way to prevent this? Is Time Machine perhaps backing up a cache? Where would I find this cache so I could perhaps exclude it from the TM?

the main idea of time machine is being able to restore your system to its latest state, or any state in time when it made a backup. in order to be able to do this, it just has to backup any file that's been changed, even if it's just a database having been touched by sqlite3. aperture 3 now saves the way you were viewing or where you were in a certain album or project, so when you come back to it, it takes you to exactly the same place. i guess it's necessary to write to a couple of database files to do that, even when you're just browsing. i kind of like this functionality.
just three quick comments:
-disk space is dirt cheap nowadays, so getting a big time machine backup disk shouldn't be any problem.
-since getting previous versions of your aperture library back is usually not very likely to happen, what i do from time to time is go in to time machine, select my aperture library and delete all copies of it. this takes quite some time, but on the next backup, you'll have your current library backed up and a time machine volume with more space.
-about it taking too long over wifi: backing up is a background process. does it slow down your other stuff while you're working? if so, let it run only when you're not at the computer, or hook up a big usb disk locally.

Airport Extreme 6th generation and Time Warner, Arris modem - no internet on mac

After installing a new Time Warner Arris modem we have encountered the following issues:
Light is green on the airport and everything appears normal
Wifi only works on iPhones, roku, and windows laptops.
Ethernet from airport extreme is also working (xbox one works fine).
Wifi internet does NOT work on Mac computers (we have two in the house both running Yosemite). The light on the airport is green and the macs can connect to wifi but cannot connect to the internet (DNS issue?).
The wifi on my mac yosemite laptop does work on my office wireless and anywhere else but home.
Backstory:
So a few months ago I purchased a brand new 6th generation Airport Extreme 802.11ac. It worked fine with our old generic Time Warner cable modem until we forced to upgrade to a new Arris modem/router combination this weekend to upgrade our internet speeds (I don't recall the model I can get this later). We told TWC that we did not need a router and would prefer to use the Apple router but they said it would work just as before by just plugging it into the ethernet port.
Initially we had network errors and I had to change from NAT to Bridge mode on the airport extreme and this worked for about a day. The next morning I could only get internet and wifi on my iPhone or a windows machine elsewhere in the house.
What I tried (none of these worked):
resetting the router and modem worked briefly but the problem repeated itself a few hours later or after connecting to a different wireless network.
deleting network config files (http://osxdaily.com/2014/10/25/fix-wi-fi-problems-os-x-yosemite/).
deleting the wireless network from saved networks and connecting again.
Again this is a problem with mac laptops ONLY. I have no machines running an older version of OS X so I can't test that easily (I can borrow one from a friend to rule that out). We have 2 Mac computers both running yosemite and both have the same problem. Every other wireless device in the house works like a charm. Any ideas?

This is a simple cable modem, that will deliver only one IP address to the AirPort Extreme.
My apple extreme in set in Bridge,(by default it is a 2007 model. Has never been a problem when I used Verizon.
Bridge Mode is not the correct setting for the AirPort Extreme. It needs to be in a Router Mode of DHCP and NAT.
Bridge Mode would have been the correct setting with a Verizon modem/router......but the SB6141 is not a router....it is a simple modem.
You can try to make the settings change to see if that will work, but in most cases when you are making a modem change on a network, it is recommended to first reset the AirPort Extreme back to factory default settings (to wipe older and possibly conflicting settings), and then configure the AirPort to work with the new modem.

I am syncing via USB on a Windows 8 computer. It worked a couple of weeks ago. Since then itunes has had its weekly update, my IOS may have been updated, and I've run a malware removal program on my computer. I curently have iTunes 11.1.3.8 and iOS 7.0.4. I read the posts and verified ICloud was turned off.
I really need to be able to sync my computer and iphone again. Any suggestions?

So you'll either need to attempt further repair yourself or take the iPhone to some unauthorized repair shop, pay them, and hope they fix it correctly.
The iPhone 5 has no Touch ID, and an iPhone 5S should still be under warranty, so I'm puzzled as to what you really have and were attempting. If you do have a 5S, why you didn't get it serviced under warranty?

My current version of Chrome is having problems, too! It's so annoying. Anyone have any suggestions now? I basically can't view or download any PDFs because of this.
Does anyone else think this is a problem not only with Adobe? I would think Apple would have something to do with this? Wouldn't they get some idea from the developer versions that no browser can open PDFs while running Lion!? Accordion Panels and List Menu don't work if I place html files in subfolders

Hi all,
Switched from Dreamweaver to Muse and I have very limited knowledge of code.
Not an IT expert and not a web developer this is just for my own site.
I have sub-folders in my site. All html files are inside sub-folders except index.
ie contact.html or products.html I move them manually from root to the subfolder, using the easy interface of Dreamweaver. I call the subfolder "en"
so I can have pages such as mysite.com/en/contact.html
In the subfolder I copy and paste from root the css, images and script folders,
keeping the original css/images/scripts as well, in the root, so index.html is not affected.
and same time the look of the html pages inside the subfolders does not change.
BUT
list menus and accordion panels don't work. I click and there is no movement
How can I solve this ? I know Muse does not allow the creation of subfolders,
everything is uploaded in the root.
When in Dreamweaver I had placed 50 pages in subfolders and I was indexing them in google and bing.
Now can't again put 50 pages in root and can't remove URLs and make new indexing for all these pages

Mobile wifi mouse back and forward functions don't work

I just bought the hp wifi mobile mouse model MOWFFKUL and back and forward functions don't work and it's driving me crazy. I bought it for these specific functions. At first I thought that it was a broken mouse. So I went and returned it, got back home, and the same thing. I set the side buttons to other functrion options and they work. What the hell??? just the back and forward buttons don't. I'm losing my mind big time because I REALLY NEED those buttons/functions to work!! All the regular top buttons functrion fine, it's only the back forward setting that DOESN't WORK.

I restarted my laptop, and the buttons worked! For only 2 minutes. Then nada ever again. What a POS. Come on HP, give a solution. I bought and returned it twice, which makes this my third wifi mouse. What a waste of my time. I think I'm just gonna return this mouse and forget the wifi mouse. Functionality is more important than a freed up USB port. I bought it for the forward/backward buttons specifically. HP used to make wonderful products, but this experience bring that into question now.

Clear Safari. Close Safari. Reset your iPad.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data.
To close an app, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the Safari app then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

If you have an external drive with an OS X Time Machine backup, then do restore of your last backup. If you have an external drive with a bootable clone of your previous system, you can boot to that clone and re-clone the OS X on your external drive back to your Mac's internal drive.
If you do not have either of these available, then the reverting/restoring process becomes much more complicated and involves purchasing an external drive and backing up your current system to that drive, then erasing, reformatting your hard drive and now your only options to installng an OS X version is doing a clean install of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, then upgrading, again, to either OS X 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion. OS X 10.9 Mavericks is no longer available for download and Apple has not made OS X 10.9 Mavericks available in any other form to be able to redownload and install.
Maybe it would be better to explain in detail your issues with Yosemite to see if any of us here can help you with your difficulties.

Do I understand correctly that you've used Send to send a file that you've uploaded to Acrobat.com? What happens when you send to your own email address? Are you able to click the link in that email, and access the file that way?
If you're unable to copy the email in the browser window after you've generated a public link, please clear the browser cache, and try again. Or, use a different web browser (for a list of supported browsers, see System requirements | Acrobat.com).
