Chatting With Facebook Friends Via Skype App

I'm planning on taking a Windows Phone, and I was wondering if it is possible to talk to FB friends via the in-built Skype app, like you can do with the desktop application on a PC.

At the moment on 1520 lumia it not possible, but i hope someday in future it will be better then fb messenger

if there aren't any apps that support Facebook Chat in the Nokia Store, then I am not sure that such a low-end device will support Facebook Chat. you are always welcome to leave feature suggestions with Nokia staff directly by clicking the Nokia Support link at the bottom of this page.

So the DOCK looks like this ? (Or at least the Lion version of that)
The Menu Bar Icon looks like this ?
Ok if the App is open and you click once on the icon (Speech Bubble with Camera) in the DOCK all that will happen is that any iChat Window will come to the front.
This of course does need there to be an Open iChat Window.
Can you access the iChat Menu itself and Preferences from there ?
In the accounts section does it list any Accounts apart from the Bonjour one ?
In the Account info tab (If there is more tan one tab) does it say Use this Account and is the check box ticked ?
If before quitting iChat you close all the Windows including the Buddy List and then Quit iChat it will remember the Window state when you start it up again.
In fact the Window menu will tell you which Accounts are Logged in and these (if more than one) should match the "Use this Account" ones in the iChat Preferences.
Using the red button only "Hides" the Buddy List it does not log it out or Quit the app.
Does the Window menu list any Account like this pic does ?
(Example from iChat 4 with the Chax Add on (more Menu items) icons)
Does the Menu Bar icon (Second pic above) show you any Buddies in the drop down you see ?
This is my drop down menu for iChat 4 when iChat is Off
As you can see it says it is Off Line.
Selecting "Available" does nor launch the app for me either as it does not know which of the 6 Screen Names I usually Login is the one I want to be "Available"
I can understand the Menu (Drop Down) may have changed in iChat 6.
Nothing you have added in the last two posts indicates to me that Skype is in any way responsible (Not that I would normally wnaty to defend it)
Neither does it point to anything but a normal functions of iChat if you close it down in a certain way.
Also check the System Preferences > General Pane in Lion (it is called Appearance in earlier versions)
This has a new setting that can set for all App the ability to remember which windows were open the next time the app is launched. (i.e if a graphics app had a pallet open this would be remembered. However if all windows are closed but the app is still running when Quit this "windowless State" would be the one remembered)
(What is does do for iChat is return the "Remember Open Chats on Quit" from iChat 4 that got lost in iChat 5)

Skype won't let me chat with my friend

Last night I was chatting with my friend with my iPad mini while multitasking. Then I get a message from and tapped the notification. But then soon after I get kicked out. At first I thought nothing of it and went back to Skype and tapped the chat. Then Skype kicked me out again. I panicked and went to see if the same thing would happen with my other friends but thankfully it didn't. Then I logged out, reset my iPad mini, then I logged back in and tapped my friend's chat. The glitch didn't go away and still kicked me out. I decided to go on my iPod touch and try talking to her there. The glitch was there too. Then I decided to uninstall Skype from my iPod and then reinstall it to see if the glitch would go away before doing the same thing to my iPad. After that the glitch still is there. I haven't had a chance yet to see if the glitch is on the family computer (it is in my sister's room and she is currently sleeping so I can't go in there yet). This is the first time this has ever happened to me and I don't know what to do. please, if anyone knows anything about this glitch then please help me. She is my best friend and I want to talk to her on Skype again. Please help me.

Hi If you get an error message saying your flash is blocked by firewall or needs updating or similar and you just get the spinning colour wheel try this link
It takes you to Adobe which tells you which ver of flash player you have - you can then see if there is a later ver by clicking on the library and it automatically selects the correct version for you to download.

Download their app or whatever. Flash doesn't run on iOS devices. Entirely Apple's decision. Nothing we can do for you.

I have a IMac - Mac OSX version 10.4 and présently i see only verticals lines on my desktop and my mouse, i mean the arrow and still mouving but with a little square with vertical lines at the right. This appened when i was talking with a friend on Skype, by error i did click on the video and slowly the vertical lines appeared and covered all ma desktop. Since then, it still there and the only things i see it is the vertical lines and the arrow with the little square.
How can i fix this problem ?
En français: j'ai un IMac - Mac OSX version 10.4 et présentement je vois seulement des lignes verticales sur mon bureau et ma souris c'est-à-dire la flèche, bouge mais il y a un petit carré avec aussi des lignes verticales à sa droite. Je pense que ce bug est survenu lorsque j'étais sur Skype avec une amie et que par erreur j'ai cliqué sur l'image de la vidéo et peu à peu les lignes sont appurues et tout l'écran est envahie par ces lignes.
Comment corriger le problème ? Merci à l'avance.

Hello, sounds like Video card and/or heat problems.
Have you blown the dust out lately? Let it cool for an hour or so.

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode).

HELP !! Trying to video chat with a friend I haven't seen in 23 years.

I'm getting the "insufficient bandwidth" error when trying video or audio chat. PowerMac on my end, new iMac on the other end. My friend has successfully done video chat with a friend overseas so it seems that her end is fine. I do have a Linksys WRT54GS (ver 2.0) router and have read a lot about the issues there.
Here's my situation. First of all, when I video conf from my PowerMac to my iMac over our home network (Linksys router), no problems at all. Video and audio are great. I know it's different when going outside my home, but at least that is working. What I'm trying first is just disconnecting the router altogether and running my cable modem direct to the PowerMac. I have not had the chance to test this with a "live" chat partner. I've used "[email protected]" and the video works but no audio (does this mean anything?). In fact, I get the same result whether I go through the Linksys router or direct to the cable modem using this test.
I've done the following so far:
1. Bypassed the Linksys and going direct to the cable modem (I'm going to keep it this way until I get it to work, then I'll mess around with the router).
2. Set streaming preference for Quicktime to 1.5Mbps.
3. Tested my bandwidth at Speakeasy (6.8Mpbs down; 480kbps up)
4. Verified under iChat Preferences that bandwidth limit is set to NONE, microphone is set to iSight, and sound output is set to Line Out (since I have external speakers.)
5. All software is updated to the latest versions.
6. Verified that the mac's firewall is off.
Granted, as I said, I haven't been able to do a test with a live chat partner yet, but as I described above, the test with appleu3test01 acts exactly the same with or without the router so I'm skeptical that my live chat is going to work even with the router gone.
Can anyone help? For now, I just want to get this working without the router.

In case it's helpful to anyone, my iChatAV video chat appears to work just fine going through my Linksys WRT54GS v2.0 (with latest firmware upgrade) with no special settings for port openings or the like. In addition, the Linksys firewall is enabled (but not the Mac's firewall). The only change I made was to set Quicktime streaming at 1.5Mbps versus Automatic. However, I was not able to do an adequte test before I made this change, only after, so I don't know if this setting was necessary.

Don't feel alone. I haven't seen a TANGIBLE update to what I have listened to on Spotfy for WEEKS (not days, but WEEKS). For at least 2 weeks now when I open Spotify I see a Connect to Facebook dialogue on the right-hand side of my DESKTOP player. When I click it nothing happens. What gives?! Furthermore, on Facebook I am no longer to connect as I don't have a overpriced handheld to install the app to. Me thinks if you are not willing to keep up w/ the Jones then you are SOL. Skype recently indicated that Facebook took away the ability to see your Facebook friends. So did this happen with Spotify?

Faces Replacement with Facebook Friend

I've noticed that some of my Faces in images synced with Facebook get "replaced" with the corresponding Facebook user. This goes beyond (the useful and intended) matching of the Face to the Facebook user (through their e-mail address) and the generation of a tag for the picture on Facebook; it's an actually loss of data and functionality. The subject is no longer listed with his Face in Aperture, and the control linking to the Face is gone (replaced with a Facebook icon). Worse, this happens without my doing anything in Aperture or Facebook: one minute the image is among those associated with a Face, later it's gone.
Is this a bug; a feature I don't understand?

Hi, I was recently on facebook and chatting with a friend. My iphone decided to freeze and now my iphone won't turn off or return home. I can still lock the screen, but when i turn it back on it just goes to the frozen faceboko app.

As I said, It's now frozen and I cannot use my iphone basically. WHen I turn it back on, it goes to the facebook screen. It doesnt go the the lock screen first. I've tried to shut it off but thats kinda hard because my lock button is broken. Please Help!

You need to reset the phone, but that requires a functioning on/off (lock) button. Time to visit Apple.
