Cheap lightning to 30pin adapter for charging only?

I don't really care about the A2D chips for analog audio, I just want to use my many 30pin charging cables to charge my iPhone 5 around the house. Does anyone make a cheaper lightning to 30pin adapter for charging purposes only? Is this even possible?

I’ve used my iPad 2 to connect with Samsung Smart TV via 30 pin Digital AV Adapter “HDMI”,
The iPad 2 instantly connect to the television, but the problem is that the TV displayed screen (mirror) isn't full screen. I tried with every setting on my iPad and also on the television but still no luck and the screen still appear in small size.
I’ve used my iPad mini to connect with Samsung Smart TV via Lightning Digital AV Adapter “HDMI”,
but also the same problem
I tried connecting with other televisions but the same result
It only works with iPhone with Full Screen!!!!!
I need to solve this issue as I paid almost 95 $ and for the first time I didn’t get the service I need from apple!! (Which I didn’t expect)

IPhone adapter for charging iPad mini

If I use iPhone 4S adapter for charging my iPad mini, will it be able to cause damages to my iPad battery?

The iPad Mini is shipped with the same charging adapter as the iPhone 4s. You'll just need to attach the lightning/USB cable that came with the iPad Mini. There will be no problems or issues with the iPad Mini.

Droid 4 No longer able to use USB for Charge Only

I received the big android update yesterday and now my phone no longer gives me the option to plug in my usb cable for charge only. It only offers me, Mass Storage, Media Device and Camera modes. Is the connection for charge only listed somewhere else? I like being able to charge my phone but still listen to music and none of these options allow that anymore.

There is a discussion about this on the Motorola forums. The option really has gone, it's not hidden anywhere. Note that USB WILL charge in any of these modes, and if you connect as Media Device, your card is still available to the phone and you can play music (just did this to confirm)!
The issue on the Moto forum is for those who want to charge their phones using a computer at work, where the company/agency policy forbids mounting a disk from a personal device on a work computer. Previously, Charge Only allowed that, now any of the available choices will mount the phone as a disk.

Using Car Cigarette Lighter Adapter for Charging iPod

I have a car cigarette lighter adapter with a USB output.
(1) Is it safe to use this for charging my iPod in the car - I don't know which gadget that I bought in the past came with this adapter.
(2) Is there a way to find out whether it could be used or not?

Mains adapter for charging

I have purchased a Mains adapter to charge my ZEN X-Fi 6GB but I have either got a dud or I need to set up the Zen to accept the charger, when plugged in and the mains switch on nothing happens I have tried with the Zen switched off as with a computer usb charge and also with the Zen switched on but nothing shows on the Zen display, , no name on charger just ?usb Power supply? any ideas please. nothing happens to the battery icon?

[/quote]You should be careful with this adapters. It is highly recommended to use the charger designed by creative to work with the ZEN. You can use generic charger but the risk of damaging your device is always there. Any charger can potentially damage your device if not within the standards (quality and the output specs) the device can handle. Just an FYI.

Lightning-to-30pin adapter compatibility questions

I'm thinking of upgrading my iPhone 4S to a 5 or 5S. I own two docks and would like to keep them. The product description for the adapter states:
Supports analogue audio output, USB audio, as well as syncing and charging.
One of the docks takes the line-out audio and amplifies it; the other receives the digital audio and processes it in its own DAC. Can someone confirm for me that these two functions would be covered by the adapter?

Because such attitudes are rife amongst users on forums, including this one, and encountering them is unpleasant. I may only be a level 3 but it's mostly as a result of having better things to do. Here's what you got wrong:

Not true. Apple themselves admit this in the product description, which continues after the section I quoted to indicate that video output is not supported. I merely omitted that portion as it wasn't relevant.

Actually, Apple have made the situation complex. Did you know that the adapter contains a DAC? That's why it's so expensive. It exists because without it certain audio functions, such as the Analogue Audio Output I mention, wouldn't be available.
So, Lightning to 30-pin connector adapters are both complex and functionally incomplete. I hope you can admit that you were wrong on both of your main assertions. I'm not sure why you spoke about third-party connectors, so I'll ignore the content of that aspect of your post.
@Phil0124: None of my above reproach applies to you. Thank you for being civil and informative. I wasn't referring to the headphone socket, but the line-out that is available through the 30-pin connector and which supplies the audio to connected docks. I was able to confirm officially that the audio line-out portion will function through the adapter, and later also ascertained that the digital output should also be fine (though this was based on anecdotal evidence concerning a 5S, but the similarities between that and the 5 seem sufficient for me).

Adapter for charging iPhone using older iPod connectors

in my Audi I have an iPod cable that will charge my iPod but not my iPhone.
Something to do with the cable being an older firewire legacy connector and the iPhone needing a newer USB.

can the wall adapter for charging the palm pre also be used with an ipod touch charge cord? both are usb ends that can plug into the wall adapter

Standard warning label caveat: You CAN use these chargers interchangeably as long as both devices use micro USB technology, and not mini USB. (Basically don't force the charger in the charging port.) However, it is recommended that you only use chargers and equipment designed for and that came with your device.

Does the adapter for my iPhone 5 allow me to play music on my old docking stations?

I have had my 5 for awhile now, and have been using the adapter for charging purposes. However, I just recently tried plugging it into a music dock and can't seem to get it to work. Does the adaptor allow me to use my old accessories, or is Apple making me buy all new equipment? What about car hookups?

and where the device has a 30 pin plug (as in Bose sound Docks ) also.
Not had any problems or issues at all

Well, I have exactly the same model USB wall charger and a 2G touch running 3.0; everything still works exactly as it did before the upgrade. I guess that means we can't blame 3.0.

Cheapo alternative to Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter for audio interface?

I am getting an audio interface (Steinberg UR44) which can be controlled with an iPad via the Apple Lightning USB Camera Adapter and a standard USB printer cable (Type A male to type B male), but I am too cheap to buy the ridiculously overpriced Apple adapter, so I am wondering if the following will work instead:
iPad --> Apple lighting male to USB Type A male cable (the standard charging cable) --> USB Type A female to Type B male adapter --> Audio Interface
Other adapters are available for USB Type A female to Type B micro or mini male, so the same kind of arrangement might work for cameras.
The adapters are five bucks or less vs. thirty for the RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED (yes, I know, I already said that) Apple adapter.
I am thinking this is a better way to go than a cheap unlicensed knockoff lightning adapter, because the critical part of the connection (the lightning plug and electronics) would still be made by Apple.
Has anyone tried the above with either an audio interface or camera?

Because it was designed for use with the iPad. Apple makes no claim that it will work with an iPhone.

Any good chargers or dual-use cables for charging an iPhone 4S (30-pin) and iPad 4 (lightning)?

Here is the situation:
A sick friend lies in bed most of the time and has her iPhone 4S (30-pin) charging cable connector within reach. She now also has an iPad 4 (lightning connector).
We are looking for a good charging solution which doesn't require multiple chargers or getting up and replacing the cable in the adapter.
We know we can use the same adapter for the iPad 4 and iPhone 4S, but the cable/connector is different.
Is there a good single cable with both kinds of connectors on the end?
Or would a connector adapter be easiest?
Or is there some cool charging unit which can do both at the same time?

Your only two choices, that I can think of, is to use an adapter. I have a third party one that I got at Office Depot that has micro USB on the end, with a lightning or 30 pin that I can swap out. And there are cables that are dual ended...as in the adapter is attached and can be plugged/unplugged but are still part of the cable.
For third party I'd suggest to stick to well known names, Targus, Zagg, Kensington, Belkin etc for your shopping. THose companies have most likely, gotten permission from Apple to make accessories.
The only other option I can think of is to use a longer extension cord to put the power block near your friend's bed, which will then allow her to plug in the appropriate cable to charge the appropriate device.

The devices are not designed for transfer of that kind. Use Photo Stream as suggested by another poster, or transfer photos to your computer (a good idea anyway since they will be lost if your device needs to be reset), then use iTunes to sync them to the other devices.
