  • 2207H Monitor Not Displaying

I downloaded the Windows 8.1 update and installed it. During the install though it restarted several times on its own and eventually when it came on the computer was running but there was no image on my screen. I ended up taking it to geek squad. They removed my graphics card (nvidia geforce 640gt) and then plugged in their monitor to my onboard graphics and you could see the display on the monitor. I took it home, plugged my monitor in the same way and it only ever says "No signal, monitor going to sleep". After messing with it, putting the graphics card back in, taking it back in, I still was not getting a display. I know the monitor is working though as I have plugged it into my laptop and it displays immediately without issue. I also know that the onbaord graphics for my pc are working because I went and bought the cheapest monitor Walmart had and plugged it in and it's working fine. I tested it with the nvidia card and it gave me the same no signal issue as the other, but on the onboard graphics it works.
How is it my hp monitor isn't working on my pc but is working on my laptop, especially since my pc is also working properly and displaying on another monitor? Any ideas?
Also, since getting the second monitor that will display I checked my drivers for updates, I ran the Maintenance, I scanned it with a malware remover and with norton, I updated all my apps in the store that had updates available, and I re-downloaded the Windows 8.1 update and it installed properly this time.
The pc is a pavillion p7-1410 (i3 intel core) and the monitor is a 2207h 22in flat screen.

    Hello @melmiller,
I understand that your HP w2207h 22 inch LCD Monitor worked until you installed the Windows 8.1 update and now will not display on your HP Pavilion p7-1410 Desktop PC yet it displays on your laptop. I suspect that you are looking at a drivers issue. I am providing you with some things you can try below to fix this:
***Be sure to stop the steps as soon as you have the problem fixed!
    1. Check the cables running from your computer to the monitor and make sure they are properly secured.
    2. See if you can boot into Safe Mode. If you are unsure of how to do this you can use the HP Support document: Windows 8 Safe Mode.
***If you are able to get into Safe Mode uninstall and deleted the graphics drivers and go and download and install GeForce 340.52 Driver for your graphics card.
    3. Rollback the Windows 8.1 update and ensure that your graphics drivers are updated before you run the Windows 8.1 update again.

  • What Monitor choice?

    Hi folks,
I am learning as I go, so patience please. I have inherited a AJA Kona LHe, on a Mac Pro. I have a 23" Cinema display. I am going to do some HD editing for SD Dvd and Broadcast. I know I should have a monitor; but don't know what to get given my financial restrictions. What is the cheapest monitor I should use? My group will not approve a $5k monitor. Any recommendations?
    Thanks so much.
    Scotty

Other than video being a lot lower resolution, and a whole lot more photos. What would you say are the differences I need to recognize?
People study in college for years to know this. Or spend a few days on it. I am not about to spend my work day talking about this. But there is a LOT, like in TV, there is no such thing as DPI. Pixel Dimensions are what you pay attention to. Gamma range for TV and photography is different.
    What about SDI vs. Component?
Either will work...but SDI is better. WAY better. But it takes a trained eye to tell the difference...know what to look for. Get the JVC if you want, but I have warned against it. Color falls to crud when you are off axis, and when you and a producer share the monitor, both can't be looking at it head on.

  • Will any old monitor work?

I'm seriously considering picking up my first Mac. I was really interested in the iMac, but I feel that it's just too expensive for me at this time. So, now I'm looking at the Mac Mini. Again, price appears to be an issue.
After looking at Apple's store, it has come to my attention that the cheapest monitor they sell is $800. In that case, I'd be better off buying the iMac.
I'm sure there are cheaper flat screen alternatives (I'm heading to college, so space is a big issue). However, while I'm looking is there anything specific I need to know?
Will all monitors that work for PCs work on Macs? Do I need a special kind of port to make it work?

most all computer monitors will work with the mini, but i'm sure there are a few exceptions.
use the DVI to VGA adapter if a non-DVI monitor.
for the really old monitors that have BNC or 13W3 connectors, there are options for those too.
i looked on newegg.com for you and found a widescreen 21" Samsung for $499.99 that has VGA + DVI, plus it also composite, S-Video, and component inputs (for VCR, XBOX, PS2, cable/satellite boxes, camcorder, etc... to really save space and double as a TV)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824001078
...or if you know that you only want to hook up a computer, there is a viewsonic 19" that has VGA and DVI only for $216.99.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116373
you can see that i suggested widescreen models, as I think this is THE form factor for all future UI and media and monitors that had DVI, since it is a "feature" that is almost standard now and worth it performance wise.

  • U2711, Stain/Shadow

this has been steadily getting worse over the last few weeks is there a fix for this issue or is it poor quality component, I bought this monitor for doing graphic design on for good colour reproduction etc its certainly not the cheapest monitor out there and I cannot afford to replace it as I was made redundant last year.

I disagree with your comments I always use a screen saver always have done even the power save mode is set to  I have never experienced this issue before I have had Dell systems for the last 10 years and have always found the service and advice very good. this monitor started with the staining in November/December last year at first it wasn't too bad just a little bit in the corner but now as you can see by the pictures its quite big and very distracting. I have done a search on line and it seems quite a few of your customers are having the same issue. My question is are Dell going to do anything about this as it is clearly a fault with some of these screens.

  • EXACTLY which cords do I need for Macbook- TV?

    Hi!
As I was perusing the Apple store online, in the cord section, I noticed that there were a LOT of cord choices.
I want to connect my MacBook to a regular 36" JVC television. (only has the A/V hookups, and one S-Video input hookup)
I want the best possible quality. I want to able to watch my iTunes shows and movies on it if possible. (will that be able to look good?)
Anyway, if someone could provide me with a quick store link, and any reccomendations you have that'd be awesome!
    Thanks!!

For a MacBook to a TV you need:
    Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter

    And
    S-Video to S-Video cable.

Note: "A regular TV is NOT a high-resolution monitor. The maximum resolution a standard NTSC TV can have is 720x486, while even the cheapest monitors display at least 800x600, if not 1024x768. If you want crystal-clear text on your TV, you're going to need to pick up a high-definition set or a projector with VGA or DVI input; composite or s-video just isn't going to cut it."
    Hope this helps!

  • Oversaturated colors in ML. Can't calibrate them!

    Hi!
I was so happy to upgrade my MacPro 2009 to the newest OS, but now I rally regret my decision... Colors have blown up, oversaturation is my profile now:( Red is screaming.
I've got ColorMunki Photo. Calibration is completed with wrong result. Have no idea what to do:(
    Marek

You don't say how old your previous Mac was, but if it's been 5 years of more since you upgraded your hardware, there's really nothing wrong. Unless you're buying among the cheapest monitors on the market, pretty much all computer display panels are wide gamut and will make your older screens look lifeless in comparison.
That said, you could be having an issue with the ColorMunki software. As in, it needs to be updated to work correctly with Mountain Lion. Check at X-Rite's web site. We use EIZO monitors with our Mac Pros, and the ColorNavigator monitor profiling software they come with doesn't work at all in ML. This using the exact same computer and monitor, which work just fine in Snow Leopard or Lion. EIZO is expecting to release a Mountain Lion update sometime mid September.
Also, if you're referring to colors in previous images suddenly being very vivid, that's also not really an issue, depending on how you save your RGB images. For instance, if you save everything with Adobe RGB as the embedded profile, that can make a huge difference. Example: the bright, saturated reds in a given image looked perfect to you on your old monitor. Problem, the old monitor could only show you the richest red it was capable of, not the color actually possible in its color space. Now you display the image on your new monitor. Reds the old screen couldn't display pop out like they've been changed, when in reality, your new monitor is simply showing you the color that was always in the image. Closer than the old one could, anyway.

  • Cheapest video output for monitoring

    Hi
I currently have my final cut pro setup to output via firewire through my panasonic video camera and to my monitor.
I've decided its time to liberate the camera, and perhaps get something dedicated for conversion.
I don't need much, I'm not editing for broadcast or anything - just viewing dv through firewire mostly.
Is a canopus 110 the cheapest simplest way to go, or is there something else I haven't heard of?
    Cheers,
    Chris

Chris, there will always be something 'cheaper', perhaps something from Pyro, or you could undoubtedly find a no name brand that may even be the same product without the badge ... however, I would vouch for the Canopus ADVC110 as a robust device with a deserved reputaion for quality.
    Cheers

  • Need monitor repaired, for cheapest way possible

I have a 22'' LCD Sony SyncMaster monitor that I bought last year for my birthday. (September 9th) It came with a 1 year warranty from Sony. But around December, the monitor began to flicker. If I left the monitor on for about 10-30 minutes (while it was flickering) it would go back to normal status and act as if nothing happened. Around Janruary, however. It would flicker and never stop. And then eventually, it just stopped flicking/working/anything at all. I was thinking about taking it into Best Buy and sending it in to be repaired, but I'm scared of how much it will actually cost me. I did not purchase a warranty, but there is still the manufacturer warranty. I want to repair my monitor in the cheapest way possible. Got any advice?

If you purchased the product from Best Buy and still have the reciept , the geek squad should be able to take care of things for you under the manufacturers warranty providing its still a valid warranty.
If not, you will need to call Sony directly and talk to their tech support guys and discuss the options with them.

  • Cheapest video card for dual monitors on a G4 Sawtooth

    Hi guys,
What would be my cheapest alternative to get a dual monitor (extended desktop) environnement with my G4 Sawtooth. This is an AGP G4.
Can I get a cheap video card with one outlet and then plus each monitor in one card (ie: 1 in the new card and 1 in the old one) ?
Or do I need to buy a card that supports 2 monitors?
I would like to spend as little as possible. I currently have the ATI 16 mb card that came with the system and I run both OS 9.2.2 and OS 10.3.9
    Thans for your advice,
    xenakis

Yesterday I installed a nVidia GeForce4 MX AGP out of a 2002 Quicksilver tower into my own AGP Sawtooth.
It has VGA and ADC connections and can apparently support two monitors at the same time.
My second vidio card is a MPDD card, but I may pull that now that I have a dual-monitor card. Sonnet sells something similar. They have blue & yellow connectors. These things are not high performance but they are OK to use with just about every monitor on the planet and any MacOS from 7.1 to 10.5 and beyond.
Cheap on eBay. Probably you could be even cheaper and pick up a 16-meg PCI card out of a B&W G3 tower.

  • Cheapest way to display a photo slideshow on an old lcd monitor?

Hi, I have an old VGA Sony 15" LCD and would like to turn it into a way to show a photo slideshow.
I was thinking of an adaptor like a USB / VGA and then just plug in the monitor and BAM a instant digital Photo Frame.
    Any help would be great.

Well yes, you need a way to connect it,USB Video should work, but then you need an APP to play the slideshow on that Monitor, I'd use GraphicConverter myself...
GraphicConverter gives even more options for slide shows...

  • External NTSC Monitor - 4:3 and 16:9 Question

I'm trying to find a configuration setting in FCP 5.0 when outputting to an external NTSC monitor that will force the image to "letterbox", rather than crop to 4:3.
I have a nice Sony NTSC monitor, but it's not the model that allows switching between 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios, unfortunately.
I don't want to have to replace this monitor at this time.
I see in the latest version of After Effects I can force the image to "letterbox" in the external monitor. I tested it, and it works perfectly.
Ironically, PhotoShop CS3 does NOT allow you to letterbox your preview to an external monitor. A widescreen formatted file appears cropped in my monitor.
So, my question is can I do this in FCP 5.0? Why am I stuck with a cropped image from a 720x480 aspect ratio? Is there a setting somewhere that will force the preview to letterbox on my monitor?
On a similar note, what will we use to replace NTSC monitors if you're shooting and editing HD?
    Thanks so much.

FCP will not unsqueeze the image for you...you need a monitor that has this option.
what will we use to replace NTSC monitors if you're shooting and editing HD?
And HD monitor. But then you need some sort of HD capture card or output device (unless you are working with DVCPRO HD)...even HDV. And then you will need an HD monitor. The cheapest solution might be the Decklink Intensity and small HDTV...the intensity has HDMI out. But this only works if you have a MacPro. The MATROX MXO is next, and it connects via DVI. It can output a signal to an HDTV (component), or to an Apple Cinema Display or Dell 24" Display. That gets you broadcast quality on a computer monitor...believe it, or not!

  • How to use MBP with monitor?

I have a 2011 MBP 13" and want to use with a larger monitor when at home. Can I use with any other monitor or do I have to have an Apple monitor.
Ideally I would like the cheapest option but want the resolution and quality to be the same on the MBP and the monitor.
I will be using the monitor with a keyboard or mouse so the MBP can be shut!
    I will appreciate any help.

  • Macbook Pro and external monitor sleep issues.

I recently upgraded to a new 13 inch MacBook Pro to replace my previous one.  With the upgrade, I'm now on the latest OS and I have a Thunderbolt instead of Mini-displayport output.  I have a Dell U2410 monitor which has worked great up until now, but I now have the following behavior:
When the laptop sleeps (or puts the display to sleep) the monitor begins to turn on and off.  It goes to powersave mode and immediately wakes up, realizes there's no signal, and goes back to powersave mode, etc etc etc.
When I wake the computer up from sleep, the monitor's behavior stays the same.  The laptop never detects the display and begins sending a signal.
If I unplug and replug the adapter, all is well.
There seem to be two separate issues: whatever signal the computer continues to send down the display cable after sleep seems to confuse my monitor, secondly, the computer never again sends a real video signal down the line after it wakes up.
I'm on the latest 10.8.3.  My adapter is the same adapter I have been using for years, an apple mini-display port to DVI adapter.  Supposedly this adapter is still compatible with the Thunderbolt port.
I've seen lots of issues online about wake up issues with the latest OS.  Is there a workaround for this yet or do I have to uplug my monitor anytime I sleep the computer?

    Hi Steve,
I have had the exact same issues after adding a WD Thunderbolt Duo external drive to a Mid 2011 iMac and then daisy chaining the Dell U2410 monitor off that.
My Mini DP to DVI cable ceased working properly - sleeps issues.
After buying one of these adapters of Ebay:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-in-1-Mini-Displayport-to-HDMI-with-audio-DVI-DP-ada pter-3in1-convertor-Macbook-/110861703462?pt=US_Audio_Cables_Adapters&hash=item1 9cfdf5926
I then tried all the different cables that came originally with the Dell U2410 with that adapter, and none of then would put the U2410 to sleep properly. The backlight would stay on, or "No Displayport Cable" would float around the Dell display with the backlighting still on. Or otherwise the Dell would try to go to sleep and then wake up again and cycle like you found.
Apples Mini DP to VGA adapter was sleep successful with the VGA cable (Analogue) but the output picture was not as sharp as DVI or Displayport, plus there was RF interference with the cable.
After lots of internet searching I have found a near perfect solution:
A HDMI to DVI cable with the HDMI end connected to the Ebay 3 in 1 adapter, which then connects to the Thunderbolt port.
Connect this to DVI-D 1 on the Dell U2410.
On the Dell in Menu - Other Settings,  disable DDC/CI
Now in OSX Settings - energy Saver you will have to tick:
"Put Hard Disks to sleep where possible" and select a short time frame for "Computer Sleep"
I have found that the display would go black but the backlighting on the Dell U2410 would stay on, when the display went to sleep on the Mac as per the Energy Saver "Display Sleep" setting.
The backlighting on the Dell would only turn off when the time for 'Computer Sleep" has elapsed and the external Thunderbolt hard disk went to sleep as well.
The Dell U2410 would then wake up correctly as well when my iMac woke, with this setup.
Cheapest solution for you would be to try an Apple or Ebay HDMI to DVI adapter and then use the DVI - DVI cable that came with the Dell.
If that fails get the 3 in one Adapter and use my Mini DP/Thunderbolt to Ebay Adapter to DVI-DVI cable setup.
I'm assuming your new Macbook Pro comes with the HDMI port ?
I believe the Sleep Issues with this monitor are all related to appropriate signal on the cable, and only the HDMI to DVI solution will work correctly on Mac's connected to the Dell U2410.
    Good Luck. :-)

  • Need suggestion for hooking up 3 monitors to my desktop PC

    Hello everyone,
I am wanting to know the best and cheapest way to hook up 3 monitors to my PC. I have an HP Pavilion HPE h8-1234 with a 6 core AMD FX-6120 processor at 3.5ghz(up to 4.1ghz in turbo) with 10gb of DDR3-1600 RAM. My graphics card is a Radeon HD 7450 with 1 HDMI port and 1 DVI port in a PCI Express x 16 slot. I have 3 more PCI Express x1 (Gen 2.0) expansion slots available. I currently have 2 monitors hooked up to my graphics card and want to add another monitor. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Lotventures

    Lotventures,
The answer really depends on what you intend to use the computer and monitors for, and how much you are willing spend. Please provide us with some background and/or the primary intend use of the system. As an example of your options... the use of a USB-to-video adapter such as the eVGA UV Plus+ 39 would be fine for docs, daytrading, speadsheets, internet browsing and some video. However... gaming, heavy video, and the like will require a new graphics card and maybe a new power supply.
