Cheapest place to buy RAM?

I just got my new MacBook. I didn't want to spend 150 for apple to take my computer up to 2 gigs. Does anyone know where (online) is the cheapest place to buy RAM for a MacBook? I'm looking to buy two 1 gig stick thing-a-ma-bobs. I don't know what the technical terms is for them.

i have looked online for ram and while those sites do have good prices, you should check out frys.com. here is a link to 2 gigs of patriot ram for 50 bucks.

frys has been having super deals. if you look around, you can get 4 gigs for 109.99 from them too. super deal.

Where is the cheapest place to buy 8gb ram upgrade for my early 2009 iMac, I have bought before but current upgrade is causing mac to crash randomly!? Need to know a place I can buy Ram which is confirmed to work my my mac model, the current upgrade is working but Mac is very unstable.

I meant more reasonable priced than apple
That'll be almost anywhere else then!
Yes, if it is made by Crucial and confirmed as suitable for your model of mac you will be fine. You can also buy direct from Crucial:
    http://www.crucial.com/eu/?cpe=pd_msn_uk
which is what I would do (did).

  • Good place to buy RAM

Where is a trusted place to buy RAM at the best price? [I noticed that OWC has its 'own' and SAMSUNG for $12 more - better/best is worth $12 to me... Thanks.

+Also be sure to watch for sales at stores like best buy. Almost whenever you see their sales they are very close to newegg price with local reliability.+
You may want to check that statement. While some may have luck at the local Big Box store, many actually don't sell Macs and the employees have next to no clue what to sell you.
When you buy from a known Mac vendor suggested be many users in this forum and with a lifetime warranty you are guaranteed to both get exactly what you need and get support from Mac-oriented technical folks.

  • Cheapest place to buy a Iphone?

Hi, I just wanted to know if any of you guys knew the cheapest place in the UK to buy a Iphone?
    thanks

Don't look for "cheapest" as that's likely to get you scammed. Buy only from authorized iPhone resellers. All of them will charge about the same price, at least for an unsubsidized phone.
    Regards.

  • Where is the Best Place to Buy Ram???????

I'm looking to expand my ram from 2 gig to 4 gig and would like to get some recomendation about where or where not to go. I searched this Discussion and didn't find anything on this subject. Anyone have any good suggestions as far as price and reliability? Is there one place that is hands down the best?
    Thanks

Apple uses 1.8v memory, that's what I'd get. There are tons of places that sell it cheaply online, and you can even get the exact Samsung that Apple uses for a reasonable price.
I'll be trying a pair of Corsair Value Select 1G modules when my Quad arrives. I got them from Newegg, and they're going back if they're not 100% stable. That pair cost me about $140. Newegg has always been great for me.
A simple place to get Mac RAM is OWC. Their OWC branded RAM is inexpensive, and guaranteed to work. They also sell the exact Samsung part that Apple uses, but it's about 50% more money.

  • Good place to buy ram, boards, hard drives online

Where is a good place to by motherboards, processors, harddrives, ram, etc online? for use with me java programming.
    thanks,
    Barney

I've had very good luck with www.mwave.com. www.pricewatch.com also is a good resource, but you can get some kind of sketchy websites that way. I've had very, very bad luck with a major retailer's online service, but don't really want to post it here (somehow I feel it could be less headaches for me). My email is [email protected] if you want to hear more.

  • Cheapest Place to Buy a Used 12" PowerBook

    Hi Guys,
I'm interested in buying a 12" PowerBook probably used for $300.00 - $700.00 and I was wondering if anyone has seen them that cheap anywhere or if theres any classified sites that would be good or anything. But I'm on a tight budget because my 15" Titanium model's hinges broke. So if you could help out that would be GREAT!!
    Thanks much,
    Shane Eliason

you could alsways try ebay. Bought my imac on ebay, obviuosly you will need to be careful as there are a few frauds amongst the genuine sellers.

  • Cheapest Online/Offline place to purchase RAM?

    Hello,
I've never purchased RAM before. I was curious on what would be the cheapest place online or offline to purchase / order RAM?
I have a thinkpad t400 with 3gb of ram installed, i have screen flickering problems similiar to http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht001223 and im assuming it's because i have two different ram chips instead of two of the same kind? I'm assuming replacing the 1 gb chip with a 2 gb chip will resolve my issue.
    Thanks,
    Steven
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The chipset in the T400 supports 2x 4GB. Many people have 8GB installed in their T400. (Likewise the earlier X/T61 series supports 2x 4GB despite Lenovo's official 2x 2GB max. I have had an X61s with 8GB for several years.)
My point is that Lenovo doesn't officially support 8GB on a T400. That doesn't mean 8GB won't work. It only means that if you report a problem to Lenovo with an 8GB T400 they won't be able to help you unless you can reproduce the problem with 2x 2GB.
But since the T400 is now several years old I doubt there are any left still under warranty so in practice this is no longer an issue.

  • I am looking to upgrade the RAM on my Macbook Pro 13'' late 2011 model. any good places to buy from or tips would be great

any good places to buy from or tips would be great

Two of the best are Crucial and OWC, http://www.macsales.com both are Mac specialists and have great support and lifetime warranties.  Avoid memory such as Kingston Value Ram as many on here have had a great deal of problems with it.
OWC has on-line videos that lead you through an installation.

  • Cheapest/best place to buy new DC In Board?

Does anyone have a recommendation of a good, reliable, low-cost, FAST place to buy a DC in board? I found one on powerbooktech.com for only $22 but have read quite a few reviews online that say they are less than reliable and slow to ship. I need this part, like, yesterday.

No, Apple doesn't sell any parts to end users that it doesn't classify as "user-replaceable" parts. In addition to the vendors mentioned by BGreg, try these others:
    http://www.dttservice.com (parts and repair work)
    http://www.powerbookresq.com (parts and repair work)
    http://www.powerbookmedic.com (parts and repair work)

  • Where to buy ram

I wa wondering where the best place to buy a reliable 2gb of ram cheap is. Any advice?

Patriot is good stuff. I use 2 of THESE in my BlackBook and also use Patriot in my first gen G5 iMac since I bought it in December '04. I have never had a RAM related error in either one.

  • Looking for a spot to buy RAM

Looking to upgrade iMAC G5 (1.6ghz) from 512mb to 2G. Where is a good place on the internet or in shop to buy RAM??
And is it easy to install the RAM or self? I've done it a bunch of times on a PC but never on a MAC.

Installing RAM on the iSight is very easy, there's a compartment on the bottom that opens, and you just insert the RAM.. A good place to buy it is smalldog.com or macsales.com, but Google for other vendors and make sure to look for RAM that comes with a lifetime guarantee.

  • Cheapest place to get new hard drive

When buying a new hard drive for my power book G4, where is the cheapest place to do it?
Also the cheapest way to have it installed?
The apple store would cost $500 to $600 they said.
I do NOT want to pay that.

I installed a new HD on an iBook once and it wasn't that bad. Lots of screws to keep track off, I recomend drawing a diagram on a large piece of paper and placing the screws on it so you remember, and also make sure you have ample time.

tons of info here, if you want to tackle it yourself. Othwise, get one of those really tiny external drives

You would have to web-order directly from Apple. Retail stores and resellers usually do not stock refurbs. All the Macs in our family that are in current use are refurbs and have provided excellent service. None have arrived with any cosmetic defects.
