Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple recommends,  "You always back up your iTunes library in the event that a purchased item is no longer available on the iTunes Store," (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).

Media not purchased from the iTunes Store will have to be transferred from your backup you make of your computer for cases such as this.

  • TS1470 All of the indicators you suggested I have verified.  Yet last night when I purchase a song by Il Volo (and was charged for it) - it did not download as purchased.

I purchased song last evening (Il Volo) and was charged for it.... yet it did not download.  Help

Okay, you need to contact support definitely about what's going on. Here is a form that will send an e-mail into support for you:

As far as the prices, the difference is likely the laptop version is the SD version and the iPad one is available in HD. That's the only reason you'll see a price difference. It has nothing to do with the device with movies/movie rentals. Apps yes, these no.

  • I have been charged for apps i did not download

I have been charged for apps Idid  not download.

This happend to me too. 10:30 am on March 4 an app was purchased, using my store credit and charging the remaining amount to my bank. I don't even have a smart phone that has apps. I have sent a request to Customer Service. Itunes has a security problem.

  • TS1702 paid for song that did not download

I was  downloading songs.  I got all the rest except the last one.
I have paid for it and received confirmation that i had purchased it on my receipt.
    But it never downloaded.
How do i get the song without having to pay again for it?

If you've been charged (it's the balance on your iTunes account that's gone down, not a credit card - credit cards can get temporary store holding charges) and they don't show on your account's purchase history or the Purchased section for downloading, then try contacting iTunes Support and see if they can see anything on your account : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • My instyle did not download clearly  some pages are unreadable.

My Instyle mag download did not download clearly and I cannot read it.

Connect to the computer that you normally use for sync and do a sync.

  • HT1725 When I click on a Movie I get the following "You have already purchased this item but it has not been downloaded. To download it, select Check For Available Downloads from the Store menu." Then get err = 11111

iTunes quit unexpectedly during the download of a movie.  When I click on that movie now I get the following message: "You have already purchased this item but it has not been downloaded. To download it, select Check For Available Downloads from the Store menu."
I follow the instructions, but the download still doesn't resume - err = 11111
    Any advice?

Yeah, I am going to blast my iPhone for the 4th time today and pray this goes away. I had 6 apps showing updates, the 6 badge icon shows on the App Store on my iPhone and, having run them all, the 6 apps have two copies each on my iPhone: one that is the old version of the app and will not run and the other is a faded version of the app with an empty progress bar on the icon. Click those and you get an error message about connecting to iTunes, etc. as described in the article I linked to above.
It gets stranger than this. If I install a completely NEW app, the 6 that are stuck mid-update heal themselves and appear with the new version only, however now completely different apps (Hold Em for instance - which I did not update and didn't need an update) will not launch "app name Cannot Launch" message comes up.
    Agh!

  • Check for available downloads does not work HELP

I had previously bought about 100 songs on my laptop, but we encountered a problem were my wireless network would not work. The support at HP wouldn't help us out unless we did a system restore first, so i lost all my stuff.
when i installed itunes again after the restore, it gave me one song from the check for available downloads option, and it says all available purchases have been located. Also, when i try to download a song I already had before it recognizes that I already downloaded it and tells me to use the check for available downloads button, which obviously is not helping me.
anyone else have this problem? I dont really wanna be out a hundred bucks...

and * is wrong with you guys!
The only people who participate here are we your fellow users, so please don't yell at us.
your making music even more expensive! $1.29 for a song i could get for free! *?!
It's the record companies who are controlling the pricing. They forced Apple to accept having more popular songs be more expensive as the price for allowing Apple to remove the copy protection. Rant at the record companies, little good though that will do.
Look for a folder called "Downloads" in your iTunes Music folder. If there is such a folder, look for files that would be the partial download and delete those, so that the download starts over from the beginning. Then try again using the "Check for Available Downloads" command under the iTunes Store menu.
If that doesn't work, contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the form at the bottom of their web page and explain the problem to them.
Hope this helps. Next time, though, it would be better if you started your own topic rather than tagging onto someone else's thread.

  • ITunes does not allow me to download at Store "You do not have authority to write in iTunes Media files. Adapt your authorisation in explorer and check for available downloads in Store

As administrator of my pc icannot download musc/video from Store: the message (translated from Dutch) "You do not have authority to write in iTunes Media files. Adjust your authorisation in explorer and check for available downloads in Store

Hey! I had the same problem you did just today when I was trying to get my second iPhone to sync. What you need to do with music or anything extra that you doing you have to creat a second playlist or picture or anything that you would like to use, so that you can add to the second device that you are going to be using. I am not sure if that will help but it helped me out a lot!! Good luck!

  • Check for available downloads in the Store menu not working!

I have an iPod Touch 2nd gen and use my it mainly for the applications, and that's where my problem is!
Normally I click on Get updates on the apps I have already bought and they normally download for syncing with my iPod but for some reason they aren't. It says "x updates available" but when I click on them it comes up with a message like :-
"You have already purchased this item but not downloaded. To download it, select Check for available downloads in the Store menu"
Which I do. As soon as I click ok it comes up with a network connection timeout and the same when I click on Check for avaiable downloads - EVERY time! Done a diagnostic and network connection is ok and also can still buy stuff.
All I want to do is update these apps, what's wrong???

    Contact itunes support.

I'm trying to download songs that was transferred via Carbonite, not getting message that states "Unable to check for available downloads, iTunes is temporally unavailable".  What do I do?  Any suggestions??

Same problem, I have a season pass for Mad Men and suddenly cannot download, says iTunes is temporarily unavailable. Problem occurred before I updated to the new iTunes and afterwards, on two different computers. Here is what Apple had to say:
"I have verified that the iTunes Store is functioning and accepting connections, which indicates that the issue is related to your internet connection, local network, or your local computer itself. This article outlines some of the likely culprits:

  • Not the normal "unable to check for available downloads"

This is my problem: I had my iTunes running for about a week now, during which i have purchased passes and music. These are the regular items that would be updated daily. The thing is i have not been able to get iTunes to get the updates(there have have been an outstanding of 10 of these) and i have not been able to download my music either... It's not a firewall problem because i still can download and receive podcast. I have check automatic settings as well as attempting manual updating, neither works providing "Unable to check for available downloads." I attempt downloading the updates through the email links... which shows that i have updates but when loaded the iTunes nothing happens. This is ongoing for the past 48+ hours.... Please help?

I have the same problem, going on five days and 8 backed-up downloads.
I contacted them and they have not been able to help me even though they've tried.
I am pretty much 99% sure it's not my computer/internet/firewall that is the problem. I didn't change anything and this suddenly happened.
msconfig showed no conflicts and diagnostics ran clean.
    I am very frustrated.
I have checked elsewhere and one online forum said that a digital booklet might be holding up the queue. Have customer service delete it and reinstate it to the back of your queue. I don't think I have a booklet downloading (I'm really not sure) but I DO know SOMETHING is holding my DLs up. I'll edit this again to let you know if that was the problem. I just sent them another message.

Thank you for the reply.  These are not, however, past purchases; these are fresh episodes of purchased seasons.  For instance, I receive an email that a new episode of Elementary is ready for me to download.  When I check for available downloads, though, I am told there are none.  So these are not previous purchases that I am trying to re-view or download again.  These are fresh items for which I have paid but which I appear unable to access unless, perhaps, I were to re-purchase them.  Grrrrrr.
