Check For Purchases not working

I've been trying to use the "Check For Purchases" thing since last night and every hit enter, I get an error message saying, "The iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." I tried restarting my computer, iTunes, and my isp but nothing helps. Am I the only one experiencing this problem? If not, does anyone know what the **** is wrong? Cuz it's starting to **** me off.

I purchased an album on the 30th and keep getting the same message. I upgraded to 7.2 this morning hoping it would help - it's not looking good. I successfully purchased & downloaded music last week. Seems like Apple needs to get their act together.

  • Patch 1.1.3 - check for updates not working?

    Hi all;
I can't get the check for updates to work.
Help/About shows I am running version 1.1.2.25, build main 25.79
Help/check for updates has the "Official Oracle extensions and Updates" and the "Oracle SQL Developer" boxes checked
When I search, it says no updates available. Do I need need to add another Update Center?
I'm running it on Windows XP, SP2
    Thanks
    Al

Try Help -> About -> Extensions and check the version
of Oracle SQL Developer. If this shows 1.1.3.27.66,
then you have already upgraded to 1.1.3.
Unfortunately, the version details on Help -> About
-> About are the details of the last full install -
they are not updated when upgrading via Check for
Updates. That is it. Thank you very much for your help

  • Check for updates not working in 9 pro

I am running Acrobat 9 pro on a Vista machine. Acrobat appears to have been malfunctioning (bates numbering is not working properly), and I uninstalled (and deactivated) Acrobat, and then reinstalled it.
After reinstallation, I used the check for updates feature in the help menu to update from 9.0 to 9.2. But now every time I run Check for updates from Help, nothing updates. I get a dialog that there is an available update, and then an icon System Tray appears and a process is active for AdobeARM.exe. But nothing ever happens-no update. I then force close the process from the task manager, and still no success in getting Acrobat to update.
What can I do? Thanks very much.

    LeoAdobeX:
Thank you for your rely. Here is the more detrailed info:
    1. I pulled down the Help menu and chose Check for Updates.
    2. A dialog appeared that said an update was available; I clicked on the button that indicated I wanted to download and install the update
    3. Nothing further appeared onscreengiving my information or choice, but an incon then appeared in the system tray for the installer.
    4. Hovering over the icon does not pop up any status information. If I click, double click, or right click on the incon in the system tray nothing pops up, and nothing appears. At that point I get absolutely no response.
    5. If I go to task manager at that point it shows the active process AdobeARM.exe and gives no indication of it malfunctioning. But nothing installs and nothing downloads and nothing happens.
    6. If I then pull down the Help menu and chose Check forUpdates again, I get a dialog that says the updater is already running.
    7. All of this occured immedaitely after I reinstalled 9 pro.
I hope this additional info helps. Thanks very much.

  • Error 11333? Check for updates not working, help please...

I got the message 11333 when I tried to open iTunes for the first time, so I checked for updates. But when I "check for updates" in iTunes, it tells me that "server could not be contacted, check your internet connections and try again". I am connected to the internet and I'm able to surf the web, so what's going on? I'm working with a PowerPC G5 with a dual processor. Version 10.5.8

  • Check for Updates not working

I bought the iPod Tough update and it won't work. I realized that I needed v1.1.3, but when I click on the Check for Update button, it says the iPod Software update server could not be reached.

Probably because every other person who bought a Touch is trying to do exactly the same thing. If I were a patient person, I'd wait until tomorrow and try again.
No one ever said I was a patient person.

  • Why does 'check for updates' not work?

Just curious why the updates do not work? Is it just easier to download the release2?

Check for updates is intended for use after production when we might have small changes to 1-2 files. Our current releases have many changes to many files and might almost be as large as the download. Also, we are still making structural changes to the storage of the code (shifting around preferences, etc). For the Early Adopter Releases, we really want people to download and install in a clean directory. After production, we will support check for update.

  • Check for update not working for Patch 2???

I am running 1.0.0.14.67. When I run the Check For Update command it says there are no updates available even though Patch 2 is now on the OTN site. Is there anything I can try other than downloading the whole new zip and migrating my install?
Previously I have successfully used the update centre to install new patches for the various extensions, so I don't think it's a problem with my firewall settings.
    Cheers, APC

Ok - one other thing. If you run check for updates, then the front "Help > About " will not change. So this will still show 1.0.0.14.67, but the Extensions tab will change. Can you just confirm that? Check out the screen shot in this FAQ. So the various extensions will show the 15.57 updates if patch 2 is already installed.
As far as I'm aware we do not have the patch set available as a separate bundle. I'll have to wake to for Kris to get in (west coast) before we can check that.

  • Daily show not showing up? Yes, i'm checking for purchases.

I purchased a multipass for the Daily Show for the second time (the first time it worked great), but this time, this week I haven't recieved any of the episodes. When I check for purchases it tells me i have all the episodes downloaded. I'm assuming that they had the show this week, because it say on the comedy central website that it's on tonight. But on the iTunes daily show page, the latest episode is the last one that I have. Is there something i'm missing? Anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks

The Willie Nelson episode appears to have been the last new episode aired. The Daily Show is, from what I can gather, in repeats this week and next. The next new episode seems to be scheduled for June 5th.

  • Unable to check for purchases. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable.

Every time I go to check for purchases I receive this message. Ive been recieving it for a couple weeks now and its reallly starting to annoy me.
Based on what info I found, I tried adding different program and port exceptions to my firewall, and I toggled my virus scanner and spyware. (and I dont have an internet accelerator so thats not the cause).
So then when that failed i just turned my virus scanner and firewall completely off. Still its the same problem.
I have almost 70 downloads that are incomplete (because of an error that apple support has worked out with me), but I have no way of accessing them.
PLEASE HELP / GIVE ANY SUGGESTIONS

    ya....
"I understand that you are still receiving a message about connection error when trying to download your purchases.
I have confirmed that the iTunes Store is functioning and accepting connections. Therefore, the issue is likely related to your Internet connection, local network, or computer. I'm happy to provide some information that should help you connect to the iTunes Store again.
I apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced with this issue and I can imagine how frustrating this could be for you. However, the nature of your question falls outside the type of support provided via email by the iTunes Store team. The iTunes Store team answers non-technical questions about billing, customer accounts, downloading music, and iTunes Store."
Im going to send them my exact connection details and such.. but if anyone knows the solutions to this PLEASE tell. It would save a ton of time and frustration.

  • Unable to check for purchases..... timed out.

    Hello.
    On 7/1/08 I bought 353 tv episodes.
Initially a few downloaded while I slept that night, but then they stopped, and ever since then i've been getting this message.
"Unable to check for purchases. The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."
    1. I don't use any sort of firewall or router.
    2. I don't have any anti-virus/adware/malware/etc software enabled.
I've tried flushing the DNS, I've tried deleting temporary internet files, i've deleted cookies, history files, all that. I added it to trusted sites. There is nothing blocking this connection, and I can connect to anything else just fine.
In fact, I can even connect to the store. If I purchase a song it will download.
And a few times i've been able to get it started in the past 13 days to where I am down to only 179 left to download.
It must have to do with how many things are in the queue is all I can imagine, although I have gotten it to work a few times.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.... 13 days and only able to download half of what I bought is really upsetting.
    Thomas Cag
BTW I am using vista 32 bit
Oh, and i've tried connecting with WIFI, WWAN and a cable modem connection.

I am having the same problem, only a little more insidiously. What happened to me is I successfully downloaded a bunch of iPhone Apps, mainly with iTunes 7.7.0 under Windows XP. I then upgraded to iTunes 7.7.1 and when I tried to use the "Available Updates..." button on the Apps screen, I am told that I have not downloaded any of the purchases I already have. So I am told to "Check for purchases..." and I do this, but I always get the timed out message like you. It says it needs to download 292 things. It just doesn't make any sense! I can't update my apps because iTunes THINKS I haven't downloaded them, but I HAVE downloaded them. And what's more, iTunes thinks I need to re-download them, but when I try to do that, I get a Time out. And further, my theory is that it is BECAUSE there are 292 items it needs to download that it Times Out! I believe the connection is not actually timing out, but that the server is taking too long to assemble the message (plist) and thus the issue is really that the time outs in iTunes are set to short. I want to binary decompile iTunes and change the time out value but that would be illegal in my country, much as it would make people like you and me have a much sweeter life. Alas.

  • Everytime I launch iTunes, get "check for purchased music" message.  Why?

    Greetings Everyone,
After I installed iTunes 7.2 (for PC), and upgraded my library to the available iTunes Plus songs I started receiving this message.
This occurred after one song did not download during the iTunes Plus library upgrade. I received an error that was documented by an editor at MacWorld Magazine (it was a numbered error, I do not remember which one it was). I tried again the next day and was able to successfully complete the download.
However, every time I launch iTunes I am asked to input my AppleID and password to check for purchased music. This has become very annoying. Does anyone know why this is happening?
I have taken a few steps to troubleshoot this process. I tried rebuilding my iTunes library as suggested on this support site. That did not work. I deleted everything from my iTunes folder and then launched iTunes. The box asking me to check for purchased music did NOT appear. So I have narrowed it down to a problem with my library/configuration.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
MacBook Pro C2D 2.16 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB HD   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I had this problem and found some interrupted downloads stuck in my download folder. Quit iTunes and move the downloads folder to the desktop. Check inside and make sure you don't need to re-download those songs.
    ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Downloads
I think that is a temporary folder that gets created during the download, then gets deleted when done. iTunes must be seeing at startup and asks for password to try to finish, but never does.

  • Check for purchases menu

I just got a new computer and I cannot find my purchased music from my other computer. I tried everything apple told me to do in support but it did'nt work. So please somebody tell me hw to find it!
    P.S. I use Windows Vista

Gordon, when you open iTunes, click on "store" at the top, there you should see "check for purchases." As the Mimico Kid told you, this function will not load your purchases on to another computer. This function is used when you have a download interrupted for whatever reason, & under most circumstances, "Check for purchases" will restart that interrupted download.
If you are attempting to move purchases to another computer, you will have to use a secondary method such as burning data discs, a flash drive, or external hard drive. Store policy only allows for 1 download even though you can uses purchases on 5 authorized systems.

  • Error with checking for purchases

i recently purchased many many songs, and i have dial up, so i couldn't finish the downloads all at once. I keep checking for purchases, but this error keeps coming up:
"Unable to check for purchased music. An unknown error occured (3)."
i'm not really sure how to get my purchases to download, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Yes, that will work.
A lot easier than using your iPod as a hard drive.
