Check Movies for iPad Compatibility?

Hi all,
Is there a way in iTunes to scan my digital movies for iPad compatibility? I have a bunch that are not but have no way of checking them all...
I have a large DVD library that I have digitized over the years using the various incarnations of +Handbrake, but some files will not go on my iPad - even thought they WILL play on ATV - V1 and V2.... I am guessing these are from early conversions.
If not in iTunes, is there a program that can scan my library and let me know what files need a new version?
Thanks!!

You have to use iTunes to copy the movies to the iPad.
Additionally the movie has to be in one of this formats:
Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

Not from Apple directly, but you can try Best Buy. They say that they'll accept non-US credit cards as long as the delivery address will be in the US.

  • Encoding movies for iPad

    Hi guys!
I'm currently upgrading a clients site for iPad support (video playback) and I'm have a VERY hard time producing videos that will actually play on iPad.
    I'm using the following specification:
"H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;"
The software I'm using is Adobe Media Encoder and my preset fullfills all the requirements above but it just won't do and I've spent a whole day trying to get it work. iPad seems EXTREMELY picky about its videos. Ditching Flash might be a good idea but this is just insane.

Any help will be extremely appreciated because I already lost a whole day due to this!

Try encoding a small source video directly in iTunes and then check the specifications afterwards in Quicktime (QT). Better still, open the video in QT directly and export it for iPad playback. Then follow the first step above.

  • Movies for ipad

I have several i-pads and have purchased a movie thru itunes store. I only seem to be able to download the movie onto one of the i-pads. Do I have to make a separate purchase of the same movie for each i-pad?

As long as each of your iPads is linked to one iTunes account, then you can get the movies transferred to your other iPads when you sync to iTunes. You'll have to manage the movies by clicking on the iPad icon on the left hand side of iTunes, then clicking on the Movies tab.
If you registered each iPad with a different iTunes account, you can't transfer between them.

  • HD/SD Movie for iPad

I purchased an HD movie for my iPad by accident. I wanted the SD version so it would not take up as much GB space on the iPad. Does anyone know how to conver to SD?  Thanks!

    You don't.
Movies purchased from iTunes are drm'ed.
It means they cannot be altered.

  • Buying iTunes movies for iPad

If I buy movies in iTunes for download to my iPad do I have to keep them all in memory or can I delete them and then download them again for future viewing? I.e., are they archived permanently for me?

You buy one and only one download.  it is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your music.
You do not get to redownload it.

  • Recovering Purchased Movies for iPad 2

I purchased the movie "Barney's Version" and downloaded it onto my iPad 2 successfully. Subsequently my iPod had to be replaced and I cannot find the movie to download on my new iPad 2? Regards, Will

Depending upon your location - Apps, music, books and TV shows can be downloaded again for free if you are using the same Apple ID and iTunes account that you used to make the original purchases. Movies cannot be downloaded again. You will have to purchase the movie again.

Ignore the outbound email configuratiion from OTM becasue it is already working. It is set with SMTP
Check the inbound and outbound connection from ebs server
If you can not ping the IMAP server or telnet the SMTP server from ebs server. Make sure firewall/ports are open

  • When iMovie '11 renders SD for iPad the quality goes way down. Is there a way to do this that does not compress as much?

It appears that DV/DVCAM SD files are about 300 MB per minute. When iMovie '11 compresses a rendered movie for iPad the size is less than 30 MB per minute. It greys out the otherwise available HD options in favor of "large", but this level of compression seems to really decrease the quality, creating unacceptable levels of quantization error noise and color banding. Is there a way to render a finished edited movie created in iMovie '11 or iMovie 5 that will not do this? I could compress in HandBrake but there is apparently no way to send the editing metadata to it from iMovie. Any suggestions?

I can't answer your first question.
The default location for the imovie Theater.theater  package is in your user / Movies folder.

  • Imovie for Ipad

When I open Imovie on my Ipad, not all my videos show up as source videos within the program.  How can I get Imovie to see and use my videos in the program?  The Pinnicle Studio Program (Avid on Ipad) sees my videos fine.

    Really, really need this apple!
Great for photos at the moment with the camera connection kit, can import images and movies into photos but I can't do anything with the video.
    Need to be able to:
    1) play 720p video footage
    2) import into move for iPad ;0)) from the camera connection kit
    3) the ability to flip the video 180 degrees
    4) a bit of editing and basic disolves
    5) the ability to publish to YouTube or similar
    6) 60fps support would be nice as well, although even the full iMovie struggles with that!
Come on apple make the iPad the only solution, at the moment I'm feeling a bit frustrated by various shortcomings.

If you tap and hold down the icon - and the X does not appear on the icon - you will not be able to delete it without totally downloading it. Finish the download and then delete it.

how do i move photos in iPhoto for iPad from album to album ?

If you want to move a photo, then you need to use a PC or a Mac. In iPad, you can copy, but this is just a link to the original. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while...but it looks like it needs another photo program to do it.

    Dear Ravi,
Could you please check if you have added the value '201' against the attribute movement type (forgot the attribute name) for the purchasing group or user group who created the shopping cart in SAP SRM. Once you have added the attribute, the problem should be resolved.

Warning: To prevent unsolicited downloads over cellular networks at the user’s expense, embedded media cannot be played automatically in Safari on iOS—the user always initiates playback. A controller is automatically supplied on iPhone or iPod touch once playback in initiated, but for iPad you must either set the controls attribute or provide a controller using JavaScript.
