Check My Error Logs

I apologize for asking a really basic question, but I did a forum search and none of the results seemed to help. I have a very difficult time navigating/trusting forums and wikis as many advanced search engines omit results despite accurate search terms. I most often experience this when trying to re-find a specific article. Posting is always more reliable for me.
I noticed everyone posts their log/output files for the community to review when encountering an error.
How do I do this? Most of the error messages I see just blink away before I can read them. I saw something about my sound as I was shutting down, and I have not yet configured my sound to work properly.
I'm not too familiar with navigating linux yet, but I have nautillus and gedit so I can usually get the job done.
thanks

Thanks.
I did search the web. The web is broken and this ended up taking way less time.
*this is the edited part* : I would prefer a live chatroom environment to forums, but irc clients always seem restrictive and nebulous. I will accept recommendations on places to have live arch discussion if there are any. But I just want to type something and hit enter, no special hashtags or other random nettiquite I haven't heard of or bothered to learn.

  • Error in loading the WSDL file. Check the error log for more details

    Hello,
I am trying to create a Import Adaptive Webservice Model. I am using the WSDL:
    http://www.abysal.com/soap/AbysalEmail.wsdl
I am getting the below error when I choose WSDL source as UDDI or file (I am not using any logical destination)
"Error in loading the WSDL file. Check the error log for more details."
Where can i see the error log? And what is the solution to fix this?
I am able to create the model if i save the wsdl locally on my machine and choose Local File System or File as the WSDL source. But at runtime this fails as the application tries to read the WSDL for metadata info and it looks into the application server for this file.
I also tried creating the old webservice model. And it is able to create the model. But I feel I need to use the new model as this one is deprecated.
    Thanks,
    Sachin

  • Unexpected Failure:Error Initialising Loader. Please check the error log".

I am using Iplanet Enterprise Web Server 4.1 on Solaris 7. I am trying to create a collection to index a few files.I am getting the following error whenever i try to do so.."Unexpected Failure:Error Initialising Loader. Please check the error log". I can't see the Loader error log as this file is not being created.
I also had same error show up for reindexing an exisiting collection.
Any idea what might be wrong in my configuration ?

This appears to be a permissions problem. I do not know exactly what, but if you set the plugins/search directory and everything in it to world-writeable then the error goes away.
    e.g.
    chmod -R 777 /opt/netscape/server4/plugins/search

It looks like you are using Oracle Applications, which is different from Application Server. You might benefit from posting in the EBS forum.
For this issue - I could suggest you check your system resources, in particular the ulimit. Check the number of allowed open files with ulimit -a and ensure it is sufficient. If that does not help, please ask in the EBS forum.

  • Back ground batch input processing error log handling

    Dear Friends,
Currently im am scheduling job for batch processing of goods receipt through bapi, now after the succesfull run of this program im appending all the success and error logs in one internal table and sending this table to spool for future reference.
Is there any other way to handle the error logs??
bcoz in the method im using every time user has to run transaction sp01 to access that spool request to check the error logs.
    Kindly suggest ....
    Regards,
    Sunny V

Best way will be creating Application Logs of the reports log. This will be forever in the system unless you delete it.
Few one time settings are required. After that you can use tcodes
    SLG1 (Analyze application log) and
SLG2 (Application Log: Delete expired logs).
For more info take the help from below link:
    [Create Application Log|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/Helpdata/EN/2a/fa0216493111d182b70000e829fbfe/frameset.htm]
Let me know if you find any difficulty in doing this.

  • Web Dynpro error log location

I'm pretty new to Web Dynpro and have a few questions regarding the location of the different error log.
    1. Sometimes the web dynpro IDE prompt up saying "please check the error logs for details". Where is the error log located?
    2. After i deployed and run the Web Dynpro application, there is a "Red Exclaimation" picture and the bottom of the web page. Where to find this error log?
    3. Where is the error log for run time error, eg, NULL POINTER exception etc ?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi julius,
    1) Go to windows->preferences->workbench->workspace->current workspace. Open directory, go to ".metadata" folder and check ".log" file
    2) 3) In my case it is C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC02\j2ee\cluster\server0\log\defaultTrace.trc (J2E - SID, JC02 - 2nd instance)

  • BODS 4.0 Issue - job ends before reaching workflow - blank error logs

Greetings Experts!  Though I have made great use of these forums for the last year, I have finally encountered an issue that I have not found documented and has prompted me to make my first post.
I have been working on a stack utilizing MySQL v5.0 on VMWare Suse Linux 10.  The host machine is a Windows 7 laptop.  In this build, I am using the VMWare machine as a server for BOE and Data Services XI 4.0. Client Tools are installed on the Windows side.
At this point, CMC is functional, as is the Data Services Management Console and Designer.  Local and Central Repositories are set up and I have some new test tables created for a test job.
I have created a very simple test job that simply moves one record from source to target.  In Designer, I am able to preview the data.  However, when I run the job, it stops running immediately upon getting to the "Processing Job" step.  No Data moves to the target, no error messages are posted, the Monitor remains grayed out and the job monitor changes to red almost immediately, indicating it is done.
On the server side, I have checked the error logs, but the log files are blank!
Any thoughts or suggestions here would be very helpful.
    Cheers,
    Will Allaway

As a quick follow-up, here are the trace logs of the attempted job run, hoping it sheds some light on the issue:
"The initial environment locale <eng_us.utf-8> has been coerced to <Unicode (UTF-16)> ().

  • CALDAV server writes constantly too much into error log

    Hi,
i managed to set up the OS X Server and CALDAV server, everything works fine, events can be synced to devices, macs, etc.
The firewall (Cisco RV042G) allows only SSL traffic and everythings works fine.
... but then I checked the error log:
2 strange entries are written several times in a minute:
    1. APNProviderFactory#error

I can remove this entry if I open the firewall to allow all traffic from my OS X Server machine to ANY
But I don't like to do so, only open the ports I need.
Does anybody know, what else needs to be opened from OS X Server to stop this error entry?
Currently I allow the following outgoing traffic:

    Hi,
i checked again and found, that TCP 5223 is no longer only associated to iCHAT SSL, it is now associated to Push-Notification.
I added IN - OUT for TCP 5223 and this seems to help a lot.
I updated the ports list I'm using - added that traffic is allowed incoming and outgoing to each of the ports (only DNS is outgoing)

I'm not sure under which circumstances this happens.
First guess was adding an event or a reminder on an iPhone, but this cannot be verified.
Maybe this is because I allow only SSL in/out for CARD/CALDAV. I don't know.
But the log is more or less growing is an expected way.
So I can check other logs... I think there are some more suspicious growings out there ;-)

    Hi,
This 3rd time I followed this link. But nothing new, same error.
Can you please tell me how to do follow, I cannt do the 1st step, how to change the local system to windows level account, vice-versa. It is shown mine as
    Server Configuration Manager(Local)
From here I folllowed the steps ---[I cannt insert link/image :-(]
SQL 2008/R2 setup fails with "Wait on the database engine recovery handle failed"
If I right clicked on SQL Server Service, there is no option to change the account.
    Hello,
Thanks for your patience, did you tried stesp mentioned in below article
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqljourney/archive/2012/03/16/sql-2008-r2-setup-fails-with-quot-wait-on-the-database-engine-recovery-handle-failed-quot.aspx
To resolve it, follow these steps:-
When the installation throws this error, click on OK and allow it to proceed. It will fail for Database Engine, but the SQL Server service should have
been created. Check the Services console.
If the service is present, perform the following steps:-
    1. Go to SQL Server Configuration manager, right click on the SQL Server service, and change the service account (if it is local system, give
it a windows level account, and vice-versa). It might throw a WMI error but you will see the account getting updated anyway. If not, then use the Services console. Change the account for SQL Agent as well.
Use this link to change sql server service account
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345578.aspx
    2. Next, try to start the service. It should come online.
    3. However, you will not be able to log in to the SQL Server
    4. Now stop the service and start it from the command prompt using -m -c -T3608 parameters.
    5. Now try logging in to the server using admin connection from sqlcmd (sqlcmd admin:<server name>\<instance name> ...)
    6. Once logged in, use the sp_addsrvrolemember '<domain\username>','sysadmin'.
Also add the builtin/administrators to the sysadmin role
    7. Now stop the service from the command prompt and start it from SQL Server configuration manager
You should be able to log in to the server now.
    Hope this helps someone.

After upgrade to iOS 6, one of my apps won't load. It seems to, then just ends. Is there an error log I can check?

so your starting it up and its just crashing right away, yes? can you tell me what app it acutally is? as iOS6 is so new my thought would be that its probably incompatable with it at this time, im having trouble with my networks app that just will not let me log in at all!
id suggest going to the page of the app on the app store and look to see if it says if its compatable or not? as for a error log its in usage data, which is in settings > general > about, and i think its near the bottom.

    Hello Vijay, Wade
Can you run the Supply Planning in Simulation mode? Under the simulation drop-down you can also see 'Show Message'.
Open it after your planning run to see list of any data inconsistencies.
    Thanks

If you are in 11g you can use adrci tool
1- set homes diag/rdbms/orawiss/ORAWISS/ : the rdbms home
2- show alert -P "MESSAGE_TEXT LIKE '%ORA-%'" -term : to find all the ORA-% errors in the alert file
3- show alert -P "MESSAGE_TEXT LIKE '%ORA-%' and originating_timestamp > systimestamp-51 " -term : to find all the ORA-% errors in the alert file during the last 51 days,
4- show alert -P "MESSAGE_TEXT LIKE '%ORA-%' and originating_timestamp > systimestamp-1/24 " -term : to find all the ORA-% errors in the alert file during the last hour,
5- show alert -P "MESSAGE_TEXT LIKE '%ORA-12012%' and originating_timestamp > systimestamp-1/24 " -term : to find the particular ORA-12012 error in the alert file during the last hour,

also the audit Log spoke something about this <b>http://ps3181:50000/sap/xi/engine?type=entry failed
, due to: Received HTTP response code 404.. </b>.
what oes this mean , when i copied this url to explore , i get message saying "Page Not Found"
Please reply if anyone of you have encountered this problem earlier

    Hi Krishna ,
i made the Pipeline URL with Port 8000.
No in the error log i am getting following error
2006-06-26 19:24:29 <b>Error SAPEngine_System_Thread[impl:5]_94 1151330069023 Returning synchronous error notification to calling application: Received HTTP response code 403..</b>

when i tried accessing same URL directly in explorer it says " Service cannot be reached : URL http://ps3181:8000/sap/xi/engine call was terminated because the corresponding service is not available.
    <b>Note
The termination occurred in system TD1 with error code 403 and for the reason Forbidden.
The selected virtual host was 0 .</b>
What does it show to you all when you try accessing same URL , should i get something , is there a problem in some configuration in my XI..
A little details about my configuration
    in exchange Profile  :
    com.sap.aii.connect.integrationserver.r3.httpport = 8000
    com.sap.aii.connect.integrationserver.name = ps3181
    com.sap.aii.connect.landscape.httpport = 50000
As i said earlier , while creating business system
    my URL is http://ps3181:8000/sap/xi/engine?type=entry
however in XI BOx when i say sxmb_adm->Integration Engine Configuration-> Check . In system landscape it shows http://ps3181:50000/sap/xi/engine?type=entry
and most importantly SXI_CACHE not working in XI .
Can you please tell me where is the error.
    Thanks
