Check user entry in Customer Exit Variable in i_step2

Hi Folks,
at the moment I'm facing a challenging problem. In an BW Query i have a Customer Exit defined as "not ready for Input" to catch the Variable in I_Step = 2 and fill by a certain algorithm. When i change the CE Variable to "Inputready", the user can enter values, but i have no chance to react on these values as i_step = 2 will not b reached during execution- And this behaviour is correct. BUT is there any chance to Check user entries in an Customer Exit variable and change this somehow in des code?
Thanks for all replies.
BR,
Maik

Hi there,
It is possibel depending on what you wish to accomplish.
You can create two variables for the same characteristic.
The first is an input ready variable for the user to enter the data and the second is a not input ready variable CE where you can in step 2 process the data entered from the variable ready for input.
You can than fill the CE variable with any data, but you will have the variable restricted by the two variables (the ready for input and the CE).
But for validating you could throw an error message based on the variable input ready.
Diogo.

  • Customer-Exit variable on 0TCAIPROV

    Hello,
we're currently working on the migration of 3.x reporting authorizations into the new analysis authorizations.
Because of the existing requirements we have to have different analysis authorizations on different infoproviders and we want to use infoobject 0TCAIPROV to do this.
But since we have a lot of infoproviders we don't want to maintain the relevant infoproviders in each analysis authorization and because we cannot use infoareas to assign the infoproviders we have created a customer-exit variable for 0TCAIPROV that produces the list of relevant inforpoviders.
So far, so good. But when running queries with this authorization we always the EYE001: No authorization for InfoProvider. So we debugged the query and saw that the customer-exit is being processed. But it seems that the infoprovider check does not support customer-exit variables.
Does anybody have experience with this? Has anybody done this?

  • How to capture user input for customer exit processing?

I need to calculate the number of working days elapsed in the current fiscal quarter BASED on the USER INPUT on the reporting front.  i.e., say the fiscal quarter started on 1 July 2005 and if the user enters 10 July 2005, I should get the value 8 (Assume that Monday through Friday are all workdays).  If the user enters 12 July 2005, I should get 10.  I have written customer exits and know how to use factory calendar, but <b>THE CHALLENGE</b> is how do I <b>CAPTURE</b> the user input and use it in my exit?  During the varible definition, if I select the check box "Ready for input" then the customer exit is not being processed and unless I check that box I can't get a user entry!  If I look at the import values in the customer exit, I see i_t_var_range with type rrs0_t_var_range.  My strong feeling is that this parameter gets the user input, but I am unable to use it as the customer exit is not being called if I make the user to input the data.  Based on the empirical evidence, I felt that user input and customer exit can not co-exist!!  Please somebody prove me wrong and let me know how can I use the user input to process my "customer-exit" variable.  I would really appreciate any input from the BW community here.

    Hi Sameer,
Most likely, I'm missing something, but I think that the answer is very simple.
    CASE I_VNAM.
    WHEN 'YOUR_CUSTOMER_EXIT_VAR'.
IF I_STEP = 2. “ After selecting of input variable
    LOOP AT I_T_VAR_RANGE INTO LOC_VAR_RANGE
    WHERE VNAM = 'USER_INPUT_VAR'.
    CLEAR L_S_RANGE.
    L_S_RANGE-LOW = LOC_VAR_RANGE-LOW(4).
    APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE.
    ENDLOOP.
    ENDIF.
    ENDCASE.
In this typical user exit coding you have a user entered value in LOC_VAR_RANGE (originally in I_T_VAR_RANGE) and you construct your user exit variable value in E_T_RANGE.
    Best regards,
    Eugene

  • Error Message : " No value could be determined for Customer Exit Variable "

    Hello BI Experts ,
I have created a "ZYTD_PERIOD" Customer Exit Variable  Interval  Mandatory and ready for input check mark removed.
The reference character is '0FISCPER' .
I want to have YTD figures when the user enter single Fiscal Year Period for variable 0P_FPER.
So I have written below code in SE37 : EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001 and include program : ZXRSRU01
    ==================================================================
      case i_vnam.
                  WHEN 'ZYTD_PERIOD'.
                  IF I_STEP = 2.
                  LOOP AT I_T_VAR_RANGE INTO LOC_VAR_RANGE WHERE VNAM = '0P_FPER'.
                  CLEAR L_S_RANGE.
                  L_S_RANGE-LOW0(4) = LOC_VAR_RANGE-LOW0(4).
                  L_S_RANGE-LOW+4(3) = '001'.
                  L_S_RANGE-HIGH = LOC_VAR_RANGE-LOW.
                  L_S_RANGE-SIGN = 'I'.
                  L_S_RANGE-OPT = 'BT'.
                  APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE.
                  EXIT.
                  ENDLOOP.
                  ENDIF.
    ===================================================================
After that I use this 'ZYTD_PERIOD' variable in the query .
Also I have used the variable 0P_FPER in another structure.
When I execute the query by entering the value of 0P_FPER as 010.2009 or any other value ,
I am getting below error message ,
*No value could be determined for variable ZYTDPERIOD*_
Below is details of this Error message ,
Note that I have proper Master and Text data for 0CO_AREA and 0COMP_CODE loaded into BI.
    =======================================================================
    Diagnosis
This error diagnosis is specific only to the variables 0P_FVAEX or 0P_CTPCA !
    Termination message BRAIN 632 appears:
Could not determine value for variable 0P_FVAEX (or 0P_CTPCA).
    System Response
    1. Operation method of SAP-Exit-Variables 0P_FVAEX or 0P_CTPCA
With queries from the CO application, both SAP-Exit-Variables look for an entry for 'controlling area'. With this controlling area from the selection screen, the SAP-Exit-Variables program reads the attributes for InfoObject 0CO_AREA (controlling area).
With queries from the FI application, the SAP Exit Variable 0P_FVAEX looks for an entry for 'company code'. With this company code from the selection screen, the SAP Exit Variables program reads the attributes for InfoObject 0COMP_CODE (Company Code).
0P_FVAEX determines the fiscal year variant (attribute 0FISCVARNT) from the attributes for 0CO_AREA (CO queries) or 0COMP_CODE (FI queries). 0P_CTPCA determines the currency type of the profit center local currency (attribute 0CURTP_PCA) from the attributes for 0CO_AREA.
    2. Cause of Error
The attributes for the controlling area (InfoObject 0CO_AREA) or company code (InfoObject 0COMP_CODE) were not loaded into the BW system, or the attributes for the controlling area are not active in the BW system.
Check whether this is the cause of the error in your BW system. Display the contents of table /bi0/mco_area or /bi0/mcomp_code using transaction se16.
    Application CO:
Check whether the attributes 'fiscal year variant' (field FISCVARNT) and 'profit center local currency currency type' (field CURTP_PCA) are filled in the 'A' version (field OBJVERS) for the selected controlling area. If the fiscal year variant in the OBJVERS = 'A' is empty, then the error is with variable 0P_FVAEX. If the currency type of the profit center's local currency in OBJVERS = 'A' is empty, then the error is with variable 0P_CTPCA.
    Application FI:
Check whether or not the attribute 'fiscal year variant' (field FISCVARNT) is filled in the 'A' version (field OBJVERS) for the selected controlling area. If the fiscal year variant is empty in OBJVERS= 'A', then the error is with variable 0P_FVAEX.
    Procedure
Using InfoSource 0CO_AREA, load the attributes for the controlling area or company code into your BW system.
Afterwards, activate the attribute changes in your BW system. To do this, use transaction rsa1, path 'Tools > Hierarchy/Attribute changes', functions button 'InfoObject list'. Choose InfoObject 0CO_AREA or 0COMP_CODE from this list, and activate the attribute changes.

    Hi,
Create Customer Exit Variable on Fiscal year period and the try with the following code.
Create ZFYP User entry variable on Fiscal year period

  • Default value of BeX customer Exit variable not Displayed in WeBI??

    Hello Experts,
We are stuck with a problem where WeBI report is created on top of BeX query and we are not able to see the default value of Bex Customer exit variable in WeBI run. Here is the complete scenario:
    1. One restricted KF is created in BeX, restricted with Customer exit variable on net Due date. And this variable is mandatory, ready for input, and Default value in calculated is user exit as current Week's Monday.
    2. So, by default KF data should be restricted to Monday of current week, if user does not change this value.
    3. Now, WeBI report is created on top of this Bex query, and all is working fine, i.e. we are getting variable as Prompt in WeBI, but Default value is not shown while Running the Webi Report.
So, need your inputs on the same, if default values from BeX in WeBI is supported or not? If yes, why this is happening, and how to resolve it?
Please notice, the restrcition is in KF only, it is not a separate restrcition on Net Due date in Filter area or in Defualt area of BeX
and we are on SAP BW 7.1 and BOXI 3.1 SP4.

    Hi,
See 1285993 - Support of Customer Exit Variables from BEx query into WebIntelligence via OLAP universe
WebI will prompt when executed, but the default values calculated by the user exit  - do not appear.
Note: If the BEx variable has property 'ready for input' set / enabled, then its WebI prompt shows ok, but no default value appears.
    Cause
This behaviour expected 'by design' (in the context of the product's current limitations) as explained in the online guide below:
Please refer to Chapter 7, page 44, document link here: http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir3/en/xi3_sap_olap_universes_en.pdf
Characteristic variable > processing type > Customer Exit  is "Supported, without user entry"
-->  This should be understood as meaning "User will not be shown a prompt"

  • Problem with customer exit variable that is input ready as well

    Hello all,
I'm facing an issue with a customer exit variable that again has been defined as input ready. I'm not sure why it is working incorrectly and I#m wondering if this is a bug or if I do s.th. stupid.
The problem is that in the exit program ZXRSRU01 this varibale does not go into the program code I have prepared for this variable. I have added entry points for all three i_step values 1,2,3, but the code will never be touched and in debugging I can see that it simply pypasses the code for this variable.
I have tried to enter a value or to leave it blank, no difference.
When I run another test by just using a customer exit variable w/o input ready capability, then I have no issue, the exit does exactly what I have coded.
Does this mean, that a customer exit variable along with input readiness dows not work ?????
You may ask why I need this variable. Well, my intention is to use the input value of this variable A to derive other values for a complete different variable B. Afterwards I want to erase the input given into variable A to have it blank.
    Any comments are appreciated
    Thanks

    Hi Heiko,
I assume A & B variables are defined on different Characteristics. If you wish to derive B based on A, you can create the Query Characteristic Restriction on B & have a dummy RKF restricted on A whose processing is by Manual Input; where processing of B is by Customer Exit. In istep 2 you can check for B, read A & derive B. There would not be a need to blank out A since the Query would not be restricted on A - you can hide the dummy RKF from showing in the output. Just a thought.

  • Drill Down and customer Exit variable

Hello together and A Happy New Year!
Please help me with the following topic:
I have a query with 4 selections(fields) in the columns.
In the first selection (F1) I have resctricion to Posting Period via Period to (a user entry variable).
In F2 I have restriction to Posting Period via Period to cust (customer exit based on value of V1 - introduced by the user)
In F3 I have restriction to PP via Period from, Period to (between: user entry variables)
In F4 restriction to PP fia Period from cust, Period to cust (between: customer exit variables)
In the query, if I select in the selection screen Period from 1 and Period to 3, for example, when I make the drill down, only  3 (Period to) is displayed instead of 1, 2 and 3.
If in the query designer I remove from the columns F1 and F2, then the drill down is working properly (having intervals in the other fields: F3 and F4).
Do you have any idea why drill down is not working properly with all 4 fields in the columns?
    Thank you,
    Iuliana

    Hello,

    Hi,
We can do it by using Customer Exit code, but it requires more efforts to do teh same. For Customer EXit codes with example please see the url.

  • Problem with Bex Customer Exit Variable

    Hi Friends,
I have a customer exit variable which is getting filled based on the User Input.  I have written the code inside the If condition checking i_step = 2. The code is working as required.
But the problem is when I try refreshing the query or change the user variable selection, the Customer exit variable is not changing.  I tried to debug the code and realized that the  values for the exit variable based on the previous selection is not cleared and the i_step = 2  is not being executed for the variable.

  • Changing a customer exit variable in Step 2 which was already set in Step 1

    Hello,
    i have the following problem.
There are 2 BEx customer exit variables A and B.
Variable A is filled in Step 1 before the user dialog appears.
Variable B is determined in Step 2 in dependence of variable A.
Now i want to change variable A in dependence of user entry althoug it was already filled in step 1. Can i somehow force the variable manipulation in step 2 for a single variable wich has already been set in step 1?
Or is there a way to change all variables at once after they have been set e.g. in step 3?
    Regards,
    Alexander

    Hello Alexander!
It's true: You cannot change values that were entered in step 1. It's a feature This is supposed to make sure that a value that was entered (or confirmed) by the user can never be changed by any piece of coding - customer or SAP. If that possibility existed, then that would create some real issues for reliability and also support.
What is your scenario that you are trying to solve? Maybe there's another way to do it?

    Christian!

  • Crystal Reports with BEx Query using Custom Exit Variable

    Hi,
We have BW BEx Query using Customer User Exit variable to derive  the Fiscal Week for Last Year (called it VAR2) based on another user input variable Current Fiscal Week (called it VAR1).
VAR2 is derived from VAR1 in CMOD via some codings and thus it DOES NOT have the "Variable is Ready for Input" flag ticked in the BEx. VAR1 is user input variable, so it has "Variable is Ready for Input" flag ticked in the BEx.
When we create a Crystal Reports with the BEx Query using variable VAR2, and when we run it we got an error message saying "Failed to execute query; '[]<java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: No Selection State Support!ZP_MI_LYPUBWEEK>'. Redesign your query or contact the data source maintainer to solve the problem".  (note: ZP_MI_LYPUBWEEK is VAR2 in this case).
Could anyone please assist? Surely, CR supports BEx customer user exit variables like the above, right?. I also refer to the forum below as it seems to have a similar issue (except mine with an error message), but it does not provide a solution in it.

    2. Do a master data look up (CTAFBAC is the master data object), using the last calendar day from step 1.
    3. CTAFBAD is the attribute of CTAFBAC so move the value of CTAFBAD to the result, and display this result
Can anyone help me with this?

    Hello,
You can use i step = 1 in SMOD transaction and write the code there.
    l_s_range-low = sy-uname.
    append ls_range to e_t_range.

  • Customer exit variables

    Hello,
I have created two customer exit variables, although I'm not an ABAP expert. Both are calculated based on two optional variables selected by the user.
When running my query I get the message "Warning Value '' is too long for variable ZPERSTRT". I suppose that really means the value is empty while a value was expected. The type of this variable is 0DATE.
I try checking the code to examine how the value can be empty, and that results in a few questions some of you probably can answer.
Unfortunately, for complex reasons I have to program the customer exit variables in the development system, while testing them in the test system where I don't have access to the ABAP editor.
    QUESTION 1
When finding the values of the other variables, I must be prepared to find them without a value. How can I know if they have a value or not? I've tried with the following code, which I suspect is not working quite as expected:
          LOOP AT i_t_var_range INTO loc_var_range
            WHERE vnam = 'ZCALWINT'.
            IF loc_var_range-low <> ''.
              l_week0 = loc_var_range-low.
              l_flag = 1.
            ENDIF.
          ENDLOOP.
I later use l_flag to check if a value was found or not.
    QUESTION 2
How is type conversion done in a statement like
    date = string + 1
If string has the value "20071031", will 1 be added as a string (resulting in "200710311" which is then somehow converted to a date), like a number (resulting in "20071032" which is then somehow converted to a date) or like a date (resulting in "20071101")?
    QUESTION 3
More type conversion. Would it be ok to concatenate year, month and day into a date variable, or should I always concatenate into a string which can then be converted to a date afterwards?
    QUESTION 4
If the variable I want to read has an interval and not only a single value, is the only way to see this by checking the -high value? If this one has a value it is an interval, if not it is a single value? Or can I be sure the -opt value will be 'BT' if it's an interval?
    Thanks and regards,
    Christoffer

    Anyone?
I'll award 10 points to the best overall answer and 6 points to answers which are first or best on one of the four questions.

  • Customer Exit Variable Value

    Hi Everyone,
I've been searching around this forum and couldn't find what I'm looking for hence resulted me starting a new thread here. I'm a fairly beginner in ABAP and I come across a problem where I have no idea on how to solve it.
Basically, I have a customer exit with multiple variables and it is being filtered out by certain criteria, the question is when I did not fill in any input and execute the query, the result is return as expected however, if i fill in an input that is not supposed to display, it will display as well, and when I debugged, there's no value  E_T_RANGE in the export  Sorry, I might cause some confusion here, but I'm not sure on how to re-phrase my current situation
I'm guessing that, the variable stores the value eventhough it's being filtered based on the criteria, is that possible? My question is, is it possible to clear the current value in the variable and export the value (E_T_RANGE) ?
    Regards,
    Kilo

    Hi Kilo,
    thanks a lot.
This is what SAP documentation says about usage of this exit:
"With this enhancement to global variables in reporting you have the
option of determining your default values for variables. You can use
this enhancement for variables, for which 'Processing by Customer-Exit'
has been selected in the variable maintenance. This is valid for all
variable types (characteristic value, node, hierarchy, formula and text
variables). You use the Exit EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001 for this.
You could, for example, establish the default value of a characteristic
value variable depending on the user."
In your exit, first thing to do is check what variable has been passed in parameter I_VNAME. Check if this variable has been set for 'Processing by Customer-Exit' in reporting.
I think the way to exclude certain values is to use the SIGN 'E' in the range, i.e.
    l_s_range-low = '<variablevalue to exclude> '.
              l_s_range-high = ' '.
              l_s_range-sign = 'E'."Exclude
              l_s_range-opt  = 'EQ'.
Also, I think the exit is called 3 times per variable name, for you I_STEP = 2 and I_VNAM = 'Z_MUL_O_ZBO00021_091' is relevant.
I have limited experience with BEX reporting so you may check SAP Help for [Customer Exits in Reusable Query Components|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/f1/0a56f5e09411d2acb90000e829fbfe/frameset.htm]. Hope this helps you to solve the issue.
