Check your SBRS Scores after upgrading to 8.5.6-092!

I upgraded my ESA from 8.5.6-073 to 8.5.6-092 on the 26th September.
Today I noticed a lot of malicious e-mails coming through our IronPort and when I checked the message tracking logs I saw the message:
SBRS Score: unable to retrieve
Phoned support and they told me to run a 'repengstatus' command to see when the last update for the repuation engine was. My last update was on the 26th September... coincidence?
I ran a 'repengupdate force' command which forced the update (wait around 10 minutes) and now the engine has been updated; e-mails now have SBRS scores.
There are two reasons why I made this discussion post:
1. If you ran an upgrade to 8.5.6-092, please check that your SBRS scores and rep engine is being updated because your IronPort could be letting a lot of spam/malicious e-mails through.
2. To support - why did this happen? I'm thinking the upgrade caused the issue because I updated on 26th and last update of rep engine was on the 26th but this could just be a coincidence (I've never experienced SBRS score failures).

This was a defect covered in the 8.5.6-093 release:
http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/security/esa/esa8-5-6/ESA_8-5-6_HP1_Release_Notes.pdf
So, if running the -074 revision... found defect:
https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuq49620
I wouldn't say that running repengupdate force is not suppose to be done, aside from a formal request... is odd to see or hear that would have been mentioned.  With the force updates for any of the processes on the ESA, this is usually always a good troubleshooting step for any customer --- as the process will instantly call out to the updater servers, compare manifests, and then pull regardless of what is running the latest engine and rules sets for the process... and then silently implement in the background.  While for the customers who might have bandwidth limiting options running on their network, the only major side effect is the package size that is coming across... since the engine is tagged into the rules...
But, normally with antivirus and antispam - this is the most helpful to run antivirusupdate force or antispamupdate ironport force.  Especially in times where the update process itself may have been interrupted with a network related hiccup or staled out download.

  • Check your book carefully after upgrading!

I have a book that I started in iPhoto '09 and now upgraded to iPhoto '11 and I had to go through it page by page after I noticed a few things were changed...
    - in a few spots, photo were swapped. I noticed this because captions underneath a few photos didn't match the photo anymore
    - fonts in a few spots went back to the default, rather than the custom font I picked.
The font thing is a much larger issue though. iPhoto doesn't seem to handle fonts the same way anymore. Instead of using a set font for different elements which can be changed in a dialog box (like a style sheet), you can now change the font settings on a per-element basis. Now this opens up more options for customization, which is good, but also makes it a major pain if you want different fonts and to have it all match throughout the book - it actually makes more work.

this is strictly a user to user forum and speculation about Apple decisions or release dates is expressly prohibited by the TOU
We can only help you with how to use the program as it sits
I wish I could go back to iPhoto 9!
Easy - load your backup of the iPhoto '09 library and reinstall iPhoto '09 from the original disks - reinstall iPhoto - go to your receipts folder ("Your hard drive" ==> library ==> receipts) and remove any iPhoto receipts and reinstall from the restore disks that came with your computer - do a custom install of bundled software only

  • Problems with your internet connection after upgrading to iOS 7.1.2

After upgrading to iOS 7.1.2 on my iPad Retina display does not connect to the internet more. Recognizes the Wi-Fi network but can not connect to the internet. The same thing happened to my wife's iPhone 5s, while my had no problems ...

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
    http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Can't Print or Scan from your OfficeJet Pro after Upgrading from your Win 8 to 8.1?

Are you having problems when attempting to print or scan from Windows 8.1 after printing/scanning successfully prior to upgrading to 8.1?  Uninstall/Re-install.  With this, I might suggest going to your product page on HP.com (sample link posted below) and then hover over "TROUBLESHOOTING" in the top menu and choose "HOW TO" from the drop-down menu.  Click on "Install / Uninstall" link to take you to a document that will walk through the uninstall process.  When that is complete, then click the "DRIVERS" menu on the same product page.  Select the correct Microsoft Windows 8.1 version (either 32 or 64 bit) and then download and install the latest driver.  Good Luck!

  • What to do with your iPhoto library after "upgrading" to Photos?

I just updated OS 10.10.3 (Yosemite) and saw the Photos app installed. Also, the iPhoto app's icon is gone from the dock, but the app still remains the application folder. I started the Photos App and went through the library transition. My library is very larger, around 172 GB. Now that I have Photos installed, can I remove the iPhoto app and its library or do I need to keep because I now have a Photos library and an iPhotos library. I do get nervous about deleting libraries, so any advice or warnings would be nice. Thanks.

Keep it for now. Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries - Apple Support.

  • After upgrade to 8.0.1, F6 no longer activates location bar

Just upgraded earlier today (from v3, been awhile) and already miss previous behavior . . . where striking F6 would highlight the location bar. Now the only way I can get there is with the mouse. I'm guessing eliminating the "tabs on top" feature would be worth a shot, but on the XP (SP3) machine I'm running I can't find how to do this.
If I want this functionality back do I need to roll back the upgrade, or can I get there in the current version?
    Thanks -

Not sure I remember F6 as highlighting the location bar, but
*'''Cltrl +L''' or Alt D move focus to the location bar.
    ** see [[keyboard shortcuts]]
To stop tabs on top in XP from the toolbar menu use
*'''View -> Toolbars -> [] tabs on top''' (un tick the check )
** see [[Common questions after upgrading from Firefox 3.6#w_why-are-tabs-on-top-of-the-location-bar-now]]_why-are-tabs-on-top-of-the-location-bar-now
(I also use XP sp3) Hopefully my answers solves the problem without you needing to downgrade.
    * if you do downgrade it is recommended it is to firefox 3.6, although that should not be necessary

  • No audio on HP Pavilion 771n after upgrading to Vista

I upgraded my desktop pc HP 771n from the XP Operating System to the Vista.  Now I have no audio.   After searching for a few days, I finally located an audio driver compatible with Vista AC 97 Down compatible with Vista.  Now I have a Code1 error -  I need to get the proper configuration for the driver.   I have already tried deleting the driver, then clicking on the button for making changes.  Can the driver be configured manually? How do I configure the driver for audio?

Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I have read your post on how you are not able to get audio on your desktop computer after upgrading to Windows Vista, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter! According to the available supported drivers for your computer, there is no Windows Vista audio software available. If you wish to use your onboard audio hardware, I recommend re-installing Windows XP or installing a compatible 3rd party sound card. I hope this helps! Best Regards

  • Hi, I have an iphone 3GS from HK. After upgrading to 4.3.3 from 4.3.2 as prompted by itunes on May 10, 2011 my entire contact in my iphone was wiped out! When I checked my backup file in Outlook Express it was also wiped out!!! What can I do now?

Hi, I have an iphone 3GS purchased in HK. After upgrading to 4.3.3 from 4.3.2 as prompted by itunes on May 10, 2011 my entire contact in my iphone was wiped out. When I checked my backed up file in Outlook Express, it was also wiped out during the synchronization. I tried to restore from backup on iTunes but still, the contact was not there anymore. I have contacted your HK Apple Hotline and talked to a technical support called TIMMY LO, he said there is nothing to do with them and he refused to provide any support to recover my contact, he even said I should try to pay extra money to 3rd party supplier and see what they can do to my iphone, despite the fact that this could be caused by the pre-mature release of 4.3.3 when a bug still hasn't been fixed. I am very disappointed at Apple's service, especially considering that I have been a loyal customer of iphone / ipod touch in the past few years. I need an official reply from Apple on this! How can Apple be so irresponsible to their own firmware failure??

After upgrade to iOS 6, one of my apps won't load. It seems to, then just ends. Is there an error log I can check?

so your starting it up and its just crashing right away, yes? can you tell me what app it acutally is? as iOS6 is so new my thought would be that its probably incompatable with it at this time, im having trouble with my networks app that just will not let me log in at all!
id suggest going to the page of the app on the app store and look to see if it says if its compatable or not? as for a error log its in usage data, which is in settings > general > about, and i think its near the bottom.

    Hi,
What version of the OS did you upgrade from ?
Anything before OS X 10.8.2 may have an issue if the Logic/Mother board has been replaced and the Serial Number not "flashed" back to it.
In the Apple Icon menu use the About this Mac item.
In the new panel click twice on the line that tells you the current OS level
It will change to the Build number (and alternative count to the OS versions) and then the Serial Number.
If it is missing you need to get it replaced.
(It is supposed to be done on Repair or Refurbishment).
An Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider as the best choices.
There are apps you can download (They are Mac Model specific) but needs careful typing as it is a once only trip.

  • After upgrade to iTunes 11 "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration"

After upgrading to iTunes 11 I have lost all sound on my PC running Windows XP.  When I try to open iTunes I get the following message: "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly."  I have also lost sound when I attempt to listen to audio from a Website while in a browser session.  I notice I have also lost the volume setting icon from the system tray in the lower right corner of the screen.
    Please advise.

Something went wrong during the upgrade to iTunes 11.  I have lost audio on my desktop PC running Windows XP.  No sound in iTunes: "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly."  No sound during browser sessions.  The volume control icon disappeared from the system tray in the lower right corner of the screen.
It seems that an audio driver(s) were damaged or deleted.  When I go into the Control Panel and check the reading for the audio hardware, the entry for the DVD/CD-ROM drive says:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."
    Please advise.
