Checkboxes in PDF output (on AIX)
All,
I've been through many of the posts on Checkboxes and many of them seem to concern the same issue (I'm getting the tiny diamond shapes instead of the square boxes we all expect as a 'standard' checkbox), however I have a complicating factor in that our process scheduler (the batch engine for PeopleSoft) runs on AIX.
I've been into the xdo.cfg file and specified the font and glyphs I want instead of the diamonds, and when I preview the output in Word it looks perfect. Also, when I upload the template and preview it in the PeopleSoft page it looks fine. My issue is how do I get the same result via the process scheduler? The documentation suggests that it reads the same xdo.cfg file for the app server and process scheduler, but why does the app server work and not the process scheduler? I've rebooted both and cleared the caches.
Also, if I put the font glyph details in the document properties it works, just not if I want to use the xdo.cfg file.
kind regards
Duncan
I am having this exact same problem. From the RTF template I can generate an RTF or PDF output and both have the pie chart. But if I convert the RTF template to XSL-FO, the RTF output has the pie chart but the PDF output does not.
Did you ever find a solution?

I am developing a report in Reports 6i on linux. The report generates a PDF output file, which is opened using Acrobat 7.0. I have made text italic at several points in the report, and the italic text shows up correctly in the previewer. However, when viewing the output in Acrobat, the italics slant to the left instead of the right (no matter what font I use). If I copy the italic text from the PDF and paste it into MS Word, it shows up correctly. Does anyone have an idea as to why Acrobat would display the italics incorrectly (and what can I do about it)? Thanks.
Hello, I am having the same issue on IBM AIX. Italic text is slanted to the left instead of the right and all the config I tried with the fonts setup do not work.
1) I installed the fonts on the report server.
2) I followed the Oracle doc on http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B13597_05/bf.904/b13673/pbr_font.htm to no avail.
Hope someone has found a solution.
Thanks. -
PDF output file from Image Capture corrupted
This problem occurs only when scanning multiple page documents into image capture, the lower 1/4 of the first 2 pages are unreadable blurs. The page shows up ok in the Image capture preview window, but the PDF output is corrupted. The printer is a Brother MFC-7820N, I am scanning 150 dpi grayscale, US letter, no image correction, to PDF. The problem occurs with both of my computers, Quad G5 10.5.8, and a MacBook 10.5.8, this has happened since I purchased the printer, I was running 10.4 at the time. I have just scanned 1 page at a time with no problem, but now I have a large amount of documents to scan and I get the corrupt files. If anyone has seen this and found a solution, I would appreciate any suggestions.
Ah perfect, you made me aware of a feature kink I didn’t know about! When you import stuff using Image Capture, it goes into /private/tmp/Image Capture_Import.(string of numbers and letters).
You can navigate there by going to the Finder, hitting Command-Shift-G, and typing in /private/tmp—if the folder still exists, as it usually does for some time, sometimes even until the next restart or so—you can see the folders which should include one or more of thoe Image Capture_Import.something folders and find your files.
Incidentally, if you want to find a “system” file, i.e., one that’s in a location normally hidden by the Finder, you can:
1. Open up a new Spotlight/Find window in the Finder, and start searching by name.
2. Next to where it says Search: This Mac… etc. there’s a + button. Click that, then
3. From the dropdown menu choose Other… and look in the list for “System files” and check the “In Menu” checkbox for it.
4. Hit OK.
5. Choose “System Files” which is now in the dropdown, choose “are included” from the next dropdown.
Be careful what you do with files you find using this method. It will show everything, including files essential to running your Mac properly, so unless you know exactly what you’re doing, don’t just start dragging files off this window onto your Desktop or anything, try to copy them instead by option-dragging (holding down the option key while dragging)—that way, you’re only making copies, not moving a file from where it’s supposed to be, and your Mac can find it.
Hope this helps! If you can’t find your files this way, there are other programs which can undelete and perform other operations to recover data… this happens to everyone, no matter how long you’ve been a user. -

XML Publisher Report not generating the PDF output.
Hi,
I am trying to develop a XML Publisher Report in R12 Vision Instance.
I have developed the rdf report and concurrent program with XML as output format. Ran the concurrent program and I got the XML output. Based on XML output I have created the rtf template. Using both the template and xml output I have created in Data Definition and Template in XML Publisher Administrator Responsibility. Now I am comming to the concurrent program and running the program, here instead of generating the PDF output it is generating again the XML output and concurrent program completing with warning status.
When I am trying to do the same in 11i Vision Instance, Concurrent Program completing with normal status and when trying to view the output it is saying "Unable to Publish output for the Processed Request".
Kindly please help me out in this issue.
Thanks,
Manasa.Hi Mahesh,
Here the concurrent programs are not erroring out. It is completing with Warning status and when we click on View Output the output is coming in XML format instead of PDF, this is in R12 Vision Instance.
In 11i Vision Instance, concurrent program is completing with Normal Status but when we click on View Output it is saying "Unable to Publish output for specified request".
Thanks,

PDF output does not refresh data in BI Publisher, XML and HTML do refresh
I just upgraded to BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.0 and I noticed that the PDF format of the reports does not reflect recent changes in data, while XML data and HTML output do reflect changes in data immediately.
I'm using BI Publisher to print APEX applications reports. When I change some data in APEX forms, I click again in the Print button and the data remains unchanged. I made some testing inside Oracle BI Publisher, and noticed that XML data and HTML output do reflect changes, but PDF output remains with the old data for some unknown amount of time. I cannot identify a method to force the PDF to refresh, just un-log and log in again several times until the data appears updated. This is serious because when users change data and print again, they expect the changes to be reflected in the new printable report, and may not notice that the data is the old version.
OS is Oracle Enterprise Linux.
Any help on this will be very welcome.
FranciscoOpen the report in Edit Mode Click on the reports and in the properties section Uncheck the
Enable Document Cache Property and your issue should be resolved. -
Hi all,
is it possible to hand an animated GIF to the PDF output (remaining animated)?
FM10 and AcrobatX work together rather fine concerning other animation formats such as SWF or AVI. I am not sure however wether the PDF format supports animated GIFs at all.
RobertAs a side, I've never ever got an embedded avi to covert to pdf. I do it all in the pdf.

PDF outputs continually crash after editing an html source file
I have English and multiple localized versions of a RoboHelp webhelp project. I have created several PDF outputs for the localized versions. I can generate the PDFs fine when I don't touch any of the html source files.
However, I had to make a change to one of the html source files to remove a <dl> from the source file. After making the change to the source file in an outside text editor (Notepad ++), I went back to RoboHelp to generate the PDF, and the PDF output crashed.
The reason I was using an outside text editor is that when I tried to edit the <dl> HTML tags in RH, its HTML editor deleted all text within the tags being edited. There was no undo at this point. In anotehr attempt to use the RH Design editor, RH didn’t delete the <dd> or <dt> tags when those tag styles were changed to <h4> and <p>, respectively. RH inserted the new html wrapper inside the existing ones, instead of replacing it.
Also, during the PDF generation process, a Visual Basic error message will appear dozens of times stating that the application was interrupted. I must press OK to continue for each error message.
What gives with the PDF generation failing like this?I hate to say it but it sounds like something you are doing in the external editor is not liked by RoboHelp.
It could just be the way that text editor codes the file. I use EditPad Pro and that has various options for text encoding. My guess is your editor is not set to what RoboHelp expects.
Aftr that what I would do here is create a new one topic project and recreate the problem, with the minimum of text. It may help you spot the code RoboHelp does not like.

Output Post Processor is unable to generate the PDF output
Hi,
We are using a custom RDF to generate PDF output using a RTF template built using XML. We are facing some problem while running this XML report. The report is completing with warning because of the following reason.
"The concurrent manager has timed out waiting for the Output Post-processor to finish this request."
The problem is not because of the temp space because we printed a sample XML report which is having thousands of pages.
We have tried by changing the value of the profile option "Concurrent: OPP Process Timeout" to 5000, 10000 etc. But still the issue is not resolved.
The report is giving the output if the number of rows are less. It's failing for bulk number of rows.
It would be greatful for us if any one of you can give ideas on these...
Thanks in advance...Hi Sairam
there might be something wrong with your template,
might be improper usage of Conditional and Looping statments,
might be improper usage of nested tables,
just check you template once again
report should work for any set of data(small or large), -
How to generate a PDF output using batch file in 10G
Hello,
I am using .bat file to generate a report PDF output. I have done this many times in 6i but for 10G I am unable to do the same.
Can someone please look at the syntax below and let me know where I am going wrong.
I understand that reports are different for 6i and 10G specially .rep file but I am sure we should be able to generate a PDF file using 10G. Please let me know.
Thanks

rwconverter (Reports Converter) enables you to convert one or more report definitions or PL/SQL libraries from one storage format to another.
I think you mean rwrun:
rwrun (Reports Runtime) runs a report by starting its own in-process server (not to be confused with the default in-process Reports Server), which runs in the same JVM as the rwrun process.
This bat file has to run on the server. There is no Reports installation on the client anymore.
If you want to run a report from a client, you can make a bat file that calls the report url

No data found in report csv or pdf output on first page load
No data found in report csv output on first page load. Report shows up on page, but no data found in csv or pdf output. I always need to submit the page and then it shows data in downloads. The page contains a form (read-only) with a report that references 4 page items by using something like the following:
and b.employee_no = v('P5_EMPLOYEE_NO')
and c.fisc_year_pk = v('P5_FISC_YEAR_PK')
and b.job_class = v('P5_JOB_CLASS')
and b.organization = v('P5_ORGANIZATION')
Again, report in the page shows up except there is no data in downloads. Can anyone help me solve this problem? I'm running Oracle APEX 4.2.1 in Oracle database 11gR2.
Thanks.Sounds like a classic session state issue.
You need to populate you page items using page rendering computations to ensure they're set to session state.
Or if the download is triggered from a button press, you need to ensure those page items are submitted to session state, perhaps via a PL/SQL action.

Barcode printing in XML report PDF output
Hi All,
I want to print barcode of invoice number / purchase order number in the XML report PDF output.
Anyone please suggest me with your ideas and experience.Hi Bogdan,
The steps mentioned in the doc is what i did in order.
I couldn't understand the step # 13 & 14.
Log in as XML Publisher Administrator
Navigate to Administration --> Font Files --> Create Font File
Available fields are Font Name and File
--> for Font Name, choose any descriptive name
--> file will browse your PC to locate the font file
Navigate to Font Mappings -->Create Font Mapping Set
Mapping name is the name you will give to a set of fonts.
Mapping code is the internal name you will give to this set
Type: 'PDF Form' for PDF templates. 'FO to PDF' for all other template types.
Create Font Mapping (this allows you to add fonts to a set)
Font Family is the exact same name you see in MS Word under Font. If you don't use the same name the font will not be picked up at runtime.
Style and weight must also match how you use the font in the RTF or PDF layout template. Normal and Normal are good defaults.
Language and Territory should remain blank (NULL) unless you have a strong business reason, as these fields can cause the font not to be picked up at runtime.
Navigate to Configuration General -> FO Processing -->Font Mapping Set. This can also be done at Data Definition and Template level, via the corresponding Edit Configuration button on those pages. The hierarchy is Site-> Data Def -> Template.
Select your new mapping set.
Make sure the font is not referenced under File --> Properties --> Custom in the RTF template file.
Under General, set a Temporary Directory. The font will be stored under a /fonts directory at runtime, initially created the first time the font is used.
Upload a template that uses your special font and test using preview or by submitting a concurrent request. -
How to download PDF output forms to presentation server without display
Hi All,

Thanks & Regards,
Karthikeyan G.Hi Vishnu,
I read the GUI_DOWNLOAD FM documentation, if I am trying to download binary type of file, It is mandatory to pass file size.
In my case, since I am having PDF file, so i don't no how to get the size of the pdf file.
As you said, if i use Convert_OTF FM, i don't have data to pass to the OTF and LINES tables.
I am having values of PDF in xstring format in ls_output1-pdf, which i got using the below FM.

Kindly tell me what values i need to pass to the FM you mentioned in order to get the size of the file.
Thanks & Regards,
Karthikeyan G.
But still I am not sure, how the pdf output is coming for single input whereas if i give in a range, its failing. In single input, i am not giving binary file size still the output is coming.. but for range its not. Kindly help me out in this. -
The PDF output is not always displayed!
