Checking ALL songs (little boxes) in one's library

I have a minor dilemma. My son has an ipod. I have an ipod. He is ten years old. I do not want him to have his own iTunes library (yet). He has made his own play lists and so on. So have i for myself. Now here is the problem. The little bugger wanted only his songs on his ipod and this i can understand.
So whilst i wasn't looking (and thinking he was playing mini-games on notdoppler website as he does so often to entertain himself on our iMac).... he unchecked a whole whack of my songs until i found out and i showed him the problem with doing that (meaning good for him, ... bad for me). So how do i go about checking ALL the boxes very quickly without taking three hours to check each unchecked little box?

Select all songs (click on one, press command-a or choose "Edit" > "Select All"). Control-click (or right-click) on the selected songs to get the context-sensitive menu and choose "Check Selection".
Needless to say, in the future the "little bugger" should change his sync settings for his ipod so only songs on his playlists should appear on his iPod, rather than using the check box feature.

  • How to check all songs in iTunes

Until now when I double click a song in iTunes, it plays the song and continues to play all the songs that follow. Now I play one song and it stops and does not play the following songs.  How to check all songs in iTunes? so the music will continue

    52,
Try command clicking a song and it should select all in songs or a playlist.

  • HT2520 I have an old MacBook Pro running OS 10.7.5.  I would like to sync up my contacts with my iPad.  I have checked all the right boxes in iCloud.

I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.7.5.  I would like to sync my contacts from my iPad with my MAC.  I've checked all the appropriate boxes in iCloud on both devices.  What am I not doing or doing wrong?

    Bobby D,
Thanks for the help.  I learned quite a bit from your answer.  Turns out I was looking in Outlook for the MAC instead of Address Book on my MAC which already had all my contacts.  Once I imported them to Outlook, problem solved.  It will be interesting to see if when I add a new contact it updates Outlook.
    Thanks again,

  • Checking all songs in a list

is there a way to check all of the songs or something??

First highlight all the songs ( Edit menu > Select All is one approach ), right-click a song and choose Check Selection or Uncheck Selection as the case may be.

  • HT1451 How do I re-check all songs.  I somehow unchecked them and to manually re-check them all will take forever

I accidentally un-checked all my songs in I-Tunes and re-checking them manually will take forever!  Anyone know how to put the check mark next to all the songs at the same time?

CTRL+click on any empty check box will check all visible tracks.

  • Need a windows script to check all unix db boxes are pinging ?

    Hi ,
I need a windows script to check all unix remote db boxes are pinging ?
I need to show the output in an html file.
    Can anyone suggest ideas ?

I have a script that "kind of" works. The only problem I've seen is that it gets confused when filenames contain characters that are fine in Macland but not good in Unixland. Forward slashes are a good example of this.
In this case I have a folder in my home named "copytest" Inside copytest are two folders:
Source (containing the images to be added)
Dest (My existing library of images)
It also assumes that the folder of images to be added contains no sub-folders. Hope this helps.
    tell application "Finder"
set theSource to folder "source" of folder "copytest" of home
set imagesToBeCopied to name of every file of theSource
    end tell
    repeat with theFile in imagesToBeCopied
    try
if (do shell script "find -r ~/copytest/dest -name " & quoted form of (theFile as string)) is not equal to "" then
--The file exists. Don't copy it
    else
--the file doesn't already exist. Copy it.
    end if
    on error
return "Failed while trying to check for existence of a file"
    end try
    end repeat

I have thousands of songs in my iTunes, and don't have all checked so not to kill my iphone with unwanted songs.
In order for me to have all my music on the ATV2, do i have to check the songs i want to share?  Will only checked songs be on the ATV?
    Thanks

No. The apple tv will see all songs in your library regardless of if they are checked or not!
It only streams and does not sync, so no checking is required.
just set up home sharing and you're good to go!
    not entirely correct.
unchecked items originally were not made available to the appletv, however since a recent update unchecked items are now greyed out when listed on the appletv.

  • All songs are not adding to iTunes library

I recently organized the "My Music" folder with 7 subfolders containing approx. 4GBs each.
I also had a lot of dead links in iTunes and decided to do delete my current library and re-add everything.
It should be as simple as adding the "My Music" folder, *however all the songs were not added (most but not all).* What made me relize was when I added my iPod playlist and all songs could not be found. I searched the my music folder for "*.mp3" which returned approx 5200 files, but the iTunes library only has approx. 5000.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Any ideas on how to fix it?

What type of songs/videos are they?
    Are any protected.
Open Quicktime and try to play the songs/videos. Do they play in Quicktime?

  • Do all songs have to stay in music library after updating Nano?

Hi - everything is going along fine with putting songs into my library and updating the Nano. My issue is that I don't want 1000 songs in my hard drive. If I delete some songs out to create space, and update the Nano, will the songs that are missing from the library get deleted from the Nano?
I've tried looking in the help menu and in the manuals, but couldn't find the answer to seems like a very simple question - so anyone who can enlighten me is much appreciated. Thanks.

What you are describing is iTunes default setting for synching with your iPod:
...iTunes automatically updates iPod's music library whenever you connect iPod to your computer. iTunes transfers new songs you've added, and erases songs you've removed.
There is an alternative, manual updating. But it's really a lot less convenient. For details, have a look at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61148 .
If you choose this method, pay particular heed to the warning about backing up your music.

  • Ipod won't allow me to check all songs for syncing.

Hello. My Ipod Shuffle won't plaiy all of the songs that it used to play, so I opened my library in Itunes. Some songs were unchecked, and these were the ones that are not playing. I tried to check them, but am unable to. The songs will play if I double click on them, however. I checked my preferences and I do not have the box checked that says "Sync only checked songs". Any ideas? Thanks!

The checking and unchecking of songs is done in iTunes, not on the shuffle.  And that may affect what is loaded in the shuffle during automatic syncing.  So first check what is actually loaded on the shuffle.
If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible, from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
In the sidebar, find your shuffle under DEVICES.  Click the small trianle to the left of the shuffle name to drop down its content list (indented below the shuffle).  Click on Music there.  The list of songs currently on the shuffle is shown to the right.  Are the songs that do not play on that list, or not on that list?

  • I am unable to burn CDs with songs recently purchased from itunes. No problem before. When I try to burn a playlist with new songs, I get the error message that "songs will not it on 1 audio CD". If I remove all songs except the new one, it will burn.

I am unable to burn CD's with the last 4 songs I've purchased from the iTunes store. I can burn CD's from playlist using previously purchased songs with no problem. With a normal length playlist including 1 of the newly purchased songs, I get the message "songs will not fit on one CD". I can remove all but the new song and 1 other and the CD will burn. I have upgraded to the latest version of iTunes and still have the problem.

I have that EXACT same problem! I have no idea what to do though, but it is very mucho frustrating. Let me know if you find out anything, and I will do the same.

  • When I Buy Something, all songs disapear except for ones bought in the store

I Used to have two-hundred songs on my Video iPod, including ones from CD's. When I bought a new song all of my songs, except for ones that I have bought on itunes, disappeared. Now I Have 10 Songs...Is there ne way to know whats wrong...and to fix it?
I also bought an audiobook. The Money was taken from my account and the book was never downlaoded. Is there any way to retrieve that?
When i got a new iPod...a nano. i accidently didnt choose the option to have more than one iPod sync to this computer. So now both of my iPods are messed up.
Last problem, I have about 10 tv shows, and only two of them sync to my ipod.

How long since the purchase? It can take a while for the card to be debited.

  • All boxes are unchecked...how do I check all boxes without doing it 1 by 1?

I left my ipod to sync and when I came back my ipod had nothing on it...all was erased and in itunes all boxes beside each song in music folder were unchecked. How do I check all of the boxes again so that I can just uncheck the few I wish to have unchecked for syncing purposes?

ctrl+click in one of the boxes, or you can do select all.
