Here's the complicated way that always works..
press CTRL + SHIFT + X
on the keyboard.. so that's the top left key with Sym written on it, the bottom left key with the white up arrow on it and the X button..
the screen should appear white and give you a prompt..
you can then type
uname -a
and it'll display more info.. This a "unix shell" and has been part of Unix computers since the mid 70's -

No. I've given you your answer. Buy from an un-official source, and you take your chances. And yes, if your phone was hacked to unlock it(common from un-official sources), it will be locked back to the carrier it was originally locked to if you update software or restore the phone. -

Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.

Sorry, there is no way to track a lost/stolen phone by IMEI number. Apple provides Find My Phone, but it must be turned on/activated before your phone was lost/stolen. If not, there is no way to track your phone.
